EDGAR G. (POPPS) FULLER, age 66, of Piqua, died Tuesday April 22, 2003 at 6:38 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Oh. He was born June 29, 1936 in Piqua, Oh. to the late Leo and Mary (Hahn) Fuller. He married Julia Drapper on Dec. 28, 1968 in St. Paris, Oh. and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Edgar Fuller, Jr.; two daughters, Bobby Joe of Indiana, and Edna Knight of Christiansburg, Oh.; one brother, George Fuller of Florida.; and ten grandchildren.
Mr. Fuller worked for the Troy Country Club for 8 years. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME.

CONSTANCE S. BARTON (ERWIN), 76, of Piqua, went to be with the Lord after a short illness. She was born on Dec. 15, 1926 in Piqua, to the late John and Nelle (Coppock) Purdy. She married Robert Erwin, and he preceded her in death.
Constance was a wonderful mother of four children, Robert & Bonnie Erwin of Piqua, Tim & Pam Erwin of Columbus, Carawell & Michael Hagedon of Mason, and Gloria & Chris Jackson of Columbus. She had nine beautiful grandchildren, Leslie Lauer, Andrew Erwin, Meca Hartwell, Caitlin and Graham Erwin, Elizabeth and Lindsey Johnson, Andrea and Mesha Jackson and four lovely great-grandchildren that she loved deeply. Two sisters, Lucille Shilling of Covington, Oh., and Janet Fisher of Vandalia, Oh. Also her beloved niece Linn Moshenko survives her. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Constance graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1944. She graduated from Miami-Jacobs College and she also attended the University of Cincinnati School of Music. She was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Piqua. She was a volunteer at the Piqua Historical Society and she was also a volunteer at her beloved Westminster Presbyterian Church. Constance enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. She worked for Hartzell Propeller Fan Company in Piqua for many years and retired.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday May 1, 2003 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Piqua with the Rev. Roger Toon officiating. Calling Hours will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County P.O. Box 502 Troy, Oh. 45373.

Edna (Bowen) Pethtel: age 76 of Piqua, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 at 9:15 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. She was born July 17, 1926 in Thorntown, Indiana to the late Roy and Clara (Lynch) Bowen. She married Melvin G. Pethtel April 21, 1946 in Indiana; he preceded her in death April 27, 1967.
Mrs. Pethtel is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Becky Pethtel of Piqua and Melvin Pethtel of Piqua, 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Mike Brookhart of Piqua, Patricia Obara of Piqua and Diana and Scott Cromes of Piqua and 2 sisters: Helen Mansholt of Lebanon, Indiana and Nina Caldwell of Thorntown, Indiana and two sisters-in-law: Laura Bowen of Indiana and Marjorie Bowen of Indiana. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Sarah and Brian Ammon, Daniel Pethtel, Tracy Sampson, Niki and Alan Cromes and Becky and Bill Brookhart and one great grandchild: Keenan Kelly. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death: Ray Bowen, Jr. and Frank Bowen and Margaret and Harold Evans.
Edna graduated from Thorntown High School. She retired from Ledex after 25 years of service.
Private Services are being held at the convenience of the family. Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home are handling the arrangements. Roy A. Gray, 72, of Piqua, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at 7:40 a.m. at his residence. He was born July 11, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Harvey and Mary (Ross) Gray. He married Wilma J. Wogoman September 25, 1954 in Bradford, Ohio and she survives.
Mr. Gray is also survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Glen and Debby Gray of Troy, Jeff and Diannia Gray of Piqua and Scott and Amanda Gray of Russia; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Gary Phipps of Piqua; one brother, Otto Gray of Troy; and one sister, Donna Huffman of Piqua. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
Roy graduated from Brown Local High School in 1949. He retired from Hobart Corporation in Troy where he was an assembler for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Social Lodge #217 of Lena, Ohio and the Piqua Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, Ohio with Rev. Daniel House and Rev. Michael Milthaler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill cemetery, Piqua, Ohio with full military honors by VFW Post #4874. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 11, 2003 from 4-8 P.M. in the funeral home. Masonic Services will be held Sunday at 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County P.O. 502 Troy, Ohio 45356.

IRENE N. NETH, age 94, of Piqua, Ohio, died Monday May 12, 2003 at 7:07 A.M. at Piqua, Manor Nursing Home, Piqua, Ohio. She was born Feb. 15, 1909 in Covington, Ohio to the late J. George and Maude (Downey) Neth.
She is survived by one Special Niece; Norma Neth of Sidney, Ohio. Two special Nephews: Clarence Blair and Joanne Neth and George and Joyce Neth both of Piqua, Ohio and many other nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by 3 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
Irene graduated from Covington High School in 1927and lived in Covington, Troy, and Piqua, Ohio during her lifetime. She was a member of the Piqua YWCA, Piqua Leisure Club, Forever 39 Club, and the Pickawillany Club. Irene was a self educated botanist with a love of wildflowers and a passion for books, poetry, music and crosswords. She was retired from the Atlas Underwear in Piqua, Ohio where she was employed as an inspector for 20 years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 15, 2003 at 7 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be at Highland cemetery in Covington, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.

STELLA BOROFF, age 77, of Piqua, Ohio, died Tuesday May 20, 2003 at 9:45 A.M. in her residence. She was born March 4, 1926 in Barbourville, KY to the late Dewey and Mary (Bingham) Baker.
She is survived by a close friend, Elmer Gamble of Piqua, Ohio and by 30 nieces & nephews, 52, great nieces & nephews and 11 great, great nieces & nephews. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Amanda Vogann of Piqua, Ohio, Leona Smith of Troy, Ohio, and Joyce Danials of Troy, Ohio. Stella was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Stella attended Freewill Baptist Church in Piqua, Ohio. She retired from Piqua Poultry Co. in 1978 after 27 years of service.
Funeral Services will be held Friday May 23, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Thomas Farrier officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Piqua, Ohio. Calling hours will be Thursday May 22, 2003 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County. P.O. Box 502 Troy, Ohio 45373.

EVELYN I. DEMBSKI, age 66, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Piqua, Ohio died Sunday May 25, 2003 at 7:47 P.M. at Upper Valley Medical Center.
She was born February 21, 1937 in Bradford, Ohio to the late Floyd and Gladys (Trydle) Hill. She married James L. Dembski May 10, 1956 in Bradford, Ohio and he survives. Also surviving are 3 Sons and Daughters-In-Law: James and Margie Dembski of Sidney, Ohio; Jerry and Fran Dembski of Sidney, Ohio; Jon and Connie Dembski of Piqua, Ohio; 1 Daughter and Son-In-Law: Julie and Tom Tyler of Piqua, Ohio. 1 Brother: Dale Hill of Bradford, Ohio; and 1 Sister: Betty Bahleda of Sidney, Ohio. 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild also survive her. Evelyn was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Jerry Hill.
Mrs. Dembski was a 1955 graduate of Bradford High School. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Seminole, Fla. and St. Boniface Church in Piqua, Ohio. She was employed at Piqua Memorial Hospital as personnel director for 15 years. She also worked at Orr Felt Co. as accounts payable clerk for 15 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday May 29, 2003 at 11 A.M. at St. Boniface Church. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME. A prayer service will be Wednesday at 4 P.M. in the funeral home.

CONNIE J. LEFFEL, age 67, of Piqua, Ohio, died Monday May 26, 2003. She was born September 11, 1935 in Piqua, Ohio to the late Marguerite (Kerns) Looney.
She is survived by her beloved dog: Abby who she loved and adored. 4 Sons and a Daughter-In-Law: Jeff and Mary Lou Leffel of Sidney; Brad Leffel and Todd Crowl both of Piqua, Ohio; and Scott Dapore of Houston, Texas. 1 Daughter: Kim Stahl of Piqua, Ohio. And a special friend: Molly Emmel of Piqua, Ohio. 2 Grandchildren: Brian Leffel of Sidney, Ohio and Christine Leffel and her fiance’: Mark Suchodolski of Sidney, Ohio.
Connie was a 1953 graduate of Piqua High School. She graduated from the JVS Nursing School as an LPN. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Piqua, Ohio. She was presently employed at Harborside Nursing Home in Troy, Ohio and previously worked at Sterling House in Troy for 7 years.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 29, 2003 at 7 P.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Ted Willis officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill cemetery Saturday May 31, 2003 at 10 A.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Humane Society.

FRANCIS O. ASHER, 82, of Covington, OH formerly of Piqua, OH and Jasper, OH, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003. He was born March 2, 1921 in Piqua to the late Clarence R.and Ruth (Arnett) Asher.
He is survived by 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Mrs. Russell (Jeanie) Langston, of Covington, OH and Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Poling, of Sidney, OH, 2 brothers and sister-in-laws: Harold & Hilda Asher of Piqua, OH and Ronald & Elaine Asher of Orlando, FL and a half-sister: Clara Swabb, Tipp City, OH. There are also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Arthur Asher, Robert Asher, LeRoy Asher and Clarence (Doc) Asher, Jr.
Francis was a Gunner’s Mate Third Class in the U. S. Navy and served in World War II. He retired from Hartzell Veneer in 1981 after 33 years as Assistant Plant Superintendent. He served on the YMCA Health Center Committee and was a past member of the YMCA’s Membership Drive Team. He was also a member of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association (NHPA) since 1969 and won his first tournament at the age of 12. He was past President of the Piqua & Greenville Clubs. In 1972 he was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Ohio State Horseshoe Association and in 1975 he received the NHPA Achievement Award. He was in over 400 tournaments with an average 43.7 points. He helped establish clubs in Piqua, Troy, West Liberty, Indian Lake and Greene County. He served as regional director in Ohio and held a lifetime membership in the NHPA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 17 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Coy officiating. Calling hours will be from 5 – 8 PM Monday, June 16 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Piqua Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
