JAMES MARION TAYLOR
The funeral for James Marion Taylor, 83, of Woodward, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Zwanziger Fu-neral Home Chapel, Woodward. Gordon Lawson will officiate.
He was born May 13, 1923, in Fargo to James M. and Mattie Anderson Taylor and died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center, Oklahoma City.
He attended Fargo High School.
He married Patsy B. James and served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Armantrout, Hodges and Porter-Barnes as a mechanic.
Surviving are one daughter, Marian Jane Ruble of Wood-ward; one son, Rick Parker of Freedom; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, six sisters and one grandchild.

ROGER LEE DESPAIN
Roger Lee DeSpain was born March 23, 1942, in Ponca City, the son of Willis M. and Lucille Bell DeSpain, and died March 2, 2007, following a brief illness.
After spending his first 13 years in Red Rock, the family moved to Enid, and Roger graduated from Enid High School in 1960. Roger’s first passion was real estate. After graduating from Oklahoma University in 1965 with a business degree and service in the Oklahoma National Guard, Roger became a real estate loan officer with an Oklahoma City bank. After several years at the bank, he left to become a full-time home builder, mainly in the Enid and Anadarko areas, while also co-owning a national real estate sales franchise with his mother in Enid. In 1990, he returned to Oklahoma City to open the Roger DeSpain School of Real Estate, which he operated until his death. At his school, Roger trained thousands of students from across Oklahoma to continue in his passion of sale, brokerage, appraisal and inspection of Oklahoma real estate.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his son, Neal of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Shawn Musgrave and husband Scott of Norman; grandchildren, Parker, Carson, and Rylan Musgrave and Alex Weed; a brother, Don DeSpain and wife Kathi of Edmond; nephew, Jeff DeSpain of Oklahoma City; niece, Jennifer DeSpain of Tulsa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007, at First Christian Church of Edmond, with Rev. Robert Gorrell and Rev. Chris Shorow officiating, with burial to be in Enid. Visitation will begin today at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 5884, Edmond, OK 73083, to the Breakfast on Boulevard Out-reach, c/o First Christian Church, P.O. Box 3548, Edmond, OK 73083, or to another charity of choice.
Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK.

ROSINE REAY
Funeral services for Rosine Reay, 91, of Canton, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at United Methodist Church, Canton, with Rev. James Frank “Tuffy” Mitchell and Rev. Bob Barr officiating.
Rosine went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, March 5, 2007 in Fairview, OK. Interment will be in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.
Rosine was born June 25, 1915, west of Canton in the Con 6 community on the family farm to William and Alice (Rogers) Tate.
She graduated from the Con 6 school system in 1932 and attended Northwestern Okla-homa State University. After school she held a variety of jobs until she moved, for a brief period of time, to California in 1941.
She married Lee “Joe” Reay Oct. 1, 1941, in Enid. After marriage she moved with her husband to a farm in Dewey County where they farmed and raised cattle. He died Aug. 28, 1978.
After marriage, she attended and graduated from beauty school and acquired her beautician’s license. In 1954, she opened Rosine’s Beauty Shop on West Main in Canton. She owned and operated that shop until her retirement in 1980. Rosine had a lifetime commitment to her community. She donated countless hours and most generous support to many worthwhile community projects. In 1997 her tireless work was recognized by her community with Canton’s Citizen of the Year Award. She was past president of the Iris Garden Club and was a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce. Rosine also served on the Senior Citizens Board for 18 years. She served on the committee to raise funds to enclose the Canton Cemetery with ornamental fencing and was working on the funding for a restroom facility. She served on the ambulance board and the Walleye Rodeo committee for many years. Rosine was a member of the United Methodist Church of Canton, where she served on the church board as well as the church parsonage board.
She served on numerous committees. Rosine lived a life which exemplified devotion and service to her faith. Rosine was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. During her 60 years as a member of the Eastern Star, she served as Rainbow Mother Adviser. She was an active member of the Canton Round-Up Club, where she reigned as Rodeo Queen in the 1940’s. She and her husband took part in rodeos all over the area. Rosine still enjoyed riding well into her eighties. Rosine loved to entertain her family and friends in her home with wonderful home-cooked meals and serious card playing. She enjoyed quilting at the Senior Citizens Center and at home. She helped make numerous quilts used as fund raising projects for the Senior Citizens Center. She loved to travel, see new places, and meet people.
Rosine is survived by nieces, Jean Gawlik and husband Vernon of Cache; Sherry Compton of Watonga; Alice Bolton of California; and Patty Clark of Oregon; nephews, Bill Tate of Canton; Cole Barney of Louisiana; Marvin Freeman, Ray Freeman and Roy Freeman, all of California; Grandnieces, JoAnn Burnett and husband David of Oklahoma City; Lisa Lewis and husband Jack of Watonga; Cheyenne Smith of Colorado. Grandnephews, Kelly Compton and family of Watonga; Billy Jack Tate of Weatherford; Terry Tate of Seiling; Bob Tate of Seiling; Brent Abner of El Reno; and Mitchell Abner, VA; cousin, Debbie Reay, plus countless friends that she loved dearly throughout her lifetime. Rosine will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her.
Rosine was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Frances Freeman, Mary Barney, Margaret Freeman, Kay Smith and Willa Chapman; one brother, Robert Tate; nieces, Peggy Abner and Jean Barney; nephews, Dale Freeman, R.J. Tate and Tony Smith; and special niece-in-law, Shirley Tate.
Memorials may be made to the Canton United Methodist Church with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.

CHARLENE ‘SUE’ PARTOVI
A funeral service for Charlene “Sue” Partovi, 64, will be 5 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wilbur Flynn officiating. Burial will be in Mounds Cemetery in Thomas, OK with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
She was born to Charles C. and Onavale (Nicholson) Shipley on Jan. 3, 1943, in Sayre and died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Enid, OK.
Sue grew up on Kingfisher and graduated from Kingfisher High School. She then earned a degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and then her master’s degree in special education at the University of Central Oklahoma. She moved to Enid in 1977 and taught special education in the Enid Public School System for 24 years.
She is survived by her mother, Onavale Shipley of Kingfisher; three children, Tracy Bass and wife Connie of Oklahoma City, Gail Rich and husband Darren of Florida, and Brian Bass of Enid; four grandchildren, Denese, Debra, Ty and Cloe; and six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Almonzo Jr., Aalijah, Belle, Hannah and Laayla.
She was preceded in death by her father, brother Jim Shipley, and son Clyde Bass Jr.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid High School Craft.

LEORA M. DRYDEN
The funeral for Leora M. Dryden, 95, of Drummond-Ames, OK community will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Garriott Road Church of Christ, 3601 West Garriott Road, Enid, OK. John Sheffield, minister of the Ames Church of Christ and Ray Rose, minister of the Garriott Road Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Hennessey Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home, Enid.
She was born Dec. 15, 1911 on a farm eight miles west of Bison, OK to Emory E. and Ethel M. Baker Poindexter. She died Sunday evening, March 4, 2007 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid.
She graduated from Ames High School in 1929 and received a teaching certificate from Oklahoma A&M College. She taught at a one-room school south of Meno, OK.
Leora married Bert Lloyd Dryden July 8, 1933 in Logan, Utah. They moved to Shattuck, OK in 1938. In 1941, her husband was called to active duty in the U.S. Army Air Corp. During World War II they lived in San Antonio, TX; Victoria, TX; McAllen, TX; Enid, OK; and Coffeyville, KS. They returned to the Poindexter family farm between Drummond and Ames in December 1945. They farmed and raised cattle until his death April 3, 1977. She continued the farming interest and also worked at Thorpe’s in downtown Enid for 14 years, where she then retired to the farm.
She was a member of the Ames Church of Christ. She served as a “Grey Lady” during World War II, making bandages, etc., for the war effort. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Jaynes-Kennedy Post 340 at Ames for 54 years. She was the first historian for the Legion and Auxiliary at Ames. On Aug. 16, 1997 she received a certificate of appreciation for the preservation in keeping the memory of those veterans of World War II from Ames, who gave the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country. She was an honoree in the Ames Centennial Parade on Aug. 11, 2001.
Leora was a loving person and willingly gave of her time and means to help her family and others. She adored her eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her two daughters, Patricia C. Monsee of Enid, and Utahna J. “Tony” and her husband Donnie “Joe” Taylor of Drummond. Also her sister, Alita Winifred Tillman of Plano, TX; a brother-in-law, Ray E. Dryden and a sister-in-law, Clara Marie Gumz, both of Stillwater.
Her grandchildren are Kim and husband Tom VanWinkle of Fayetteville, AR; Kelly and husband David Bloom of Highlands Ranch, CO; Kirk and wife Paula Taylor of Haslet, TX; Chuck and wife Shari Monsees of Breckinridge, OK; Kevin and wife Connie Monsees of Highlands Ranch, CO; Scott and wife Missy Taylor of Roanoke, TX; Traci and husband Tom Rush of Enid; and Kyle Monsees of Denver, CO.
Leora’s great-grandchildren are: Blake Taylor of Stillwater, OK; Logan Rae VanWinkle of Boulder, CO; Zach Taylor of Lubbock, TX; Jerrod Monsees and Casey Monsees of Abilene, TX; Courtney Taylor of Roanoke, TX; Caren Monsees of Highlands Ranch, CO; Charlie Jo Taylor of North Richland Hills, TX; Kota Turnham of Enid; Tyler Bloom of Highlands Ranch, CO; Steven Taylor of Haslet, TX; Alec Monsees of Breckinridge, OK; Dana Taylor of Haslet, TX; Mason Monsees of Breckinridge, OK; Noah Coppock of Enid; Landon Monsees of Breckinridge, OK; and Laekin Skye Ruch of Enid.
Leora had numerous nieces and nephews, caring relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 43 years, Bert, and her son-in-law, Charles W. Monsees of Enid.
In place of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to In Search of the Lord’s Way; High Plains Children’s Home; Westview Boys’ Home; Ames American Legion Post 340; or a charity of your choice.

RALPH LEE ‘BUTCH’ JONES
The funeral for Ralph Lee “Butch” Jones, 64, of Tulsa, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Freeman-Harris Funeral Home, Tulsa. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Marshall Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Roberts & Sons, Blackwell.
He was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Kingfisher and died Monday, March 27, 2006, in Tulsa.
He graduated from Marshall High School in 1959. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, a master’s de-gree in education from North-western Oklahoma State Univer-sity and held administration certificates after post-graduate studies at Oklahoma State University. He taught high school social sciences and driver’s education at Western Heights, Tonkawa, Garber and Newkirk. He also served as assistant or head coach in football, boys basketball, track, wrestling, and baseball. He was coach of Newkirk’s 1975 state championship track team.
He worked for United Farm Tools as a salesman in Nebraska and Wyoming for six years before returning to Oklahoma and education. He completed graduate studies in Alva and Stillwater and earned a master’s degree in secondary administration. He was high school principal and superintendent at Marland, assistant superintendent and principal at Frontier Public Schools, Red Rock, middle school principal at Waukomis and assistant principal, athletic director and golf coach at Checotah. He was elected 2006 Region 4 Oklahoma Coaches Association Athletic Director of the Year and Northeast Region Athletic Director of the Year by Oklahoma Coaches Association before retiring in 2005.
He served as president of Northern Oklahoma Posse Club (OSU) in 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn of the home; one son Layne of Denver; two brothers, Wight Jones of Edmond and Joe Jones of Crescent; and one sister, Elizabeth Bodine of Yukon.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma State University in his honor.

LINNIE HEASLEY
The funeral for Linnie Kathryn Heasley, 107, of Alva will be 3 p.m. Friday at Wharton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Terry Martindale will officiate. Burial will be in Alva Muni-cipal Cem-etery.
She was born Dec. 5, 1898, in Weatherford, Texas, to Ulysses Sherman and Anna Matilda Rudolph Callison and died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Beadles Nursing Home, Alva.
Her family came to Alva in 1901 and she attended the Alva school system. At 16, she transferred to Northwestern Normal School. After three years she took the county examinations to teach and was issued a lifetime teaching certificate. She taught at rural grade schools in Alfalfa and Woods counties.
She married John Samuel Heasley Aug. 10, 1921, in Dacoma. They made their home in Alva. He died Nov. 15, 1946.
She returned to teaching at Greenleaf, Richview, Riverside and Short Springs. She was the girl’s dorm mother at North-western State College and earned a bachelor of science degree in 1954. She then moved to Wichita, Kan., and taught school and later became a Christian Science practitioner.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston.
Surviving are one son, Lynn of Alva, eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Sam, she was preceded in death by three sons, four sisters and four brothers.
Memorials may be made to Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation. JONNIETTA JUNE DUGGER
The funeral for Jonnietta June Dugger, 70, of Cotopaxi, Colo., formerly of Okeene, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cody Park Church, Cotopaxi. The Rev. Dave McConnell will officiate. Burial will be in San Isabelle View Cemetery, Hillside, Colo. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Canon City, Colo.
She was born June 4, 1935, in Okeene to John and Hanna Nusz Hoffman and died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Canon City.
She married James W. Dugger Aug. 7, 1958, in Enid. She was a member of Cody Park Church.
Surviving are her husband, James of the home; one daughter, Janell J. Novick of Lebanon, Ore.; one son, Randy S. Dugger of Cotopaxi; two sisters, Iva Nusz and Dorothy Haley; two brothers, Billy Hoffman and James Hoffman; five grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, 3027 N. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80909.

MELVIN TROY BROWN
The funeral for Melvin Troy Brown, 54, of Kingfisher, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith and Vision Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Joe Ince will officiate. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service.
He was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Edmond to Arthur and Betty Burpo Brown and died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital, Kingfisher.
He graduated from Kingfisher High School. He worked in the oil fields and later at R&R Tire Store. He married Christine Pickle Aug. 5, 1978, in Dover.
Surviving are his wife, Christine of the home; two sons, Michael Brown of Cashion and Matthew of Kingfisher; one daughter, Chrystal Brown of Kingfisher; one sister, Joyce Pflueger of Rogers, Ark.; his mother, Betty Brown of Rogers; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
