Paul Dornan

Paul "The Colonel" Dornan, 92 of Holdenville, Okla. died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Shawnee, Okla.

Paul was born on Oct. 23, 1921 in Checotah, Okla. to Clarence and Hettie Dornan.

Paul enjoyed living in California for many years where he owned a chain of service station and tire stores and a lumber yard.

He also took great pride and pleasure in operating his own vineyard.

He enjoyed working for many years as an Auctioneer where he earned the title of Colonel.

Later he returned home to Oklahoma to be near family and friends.

Making people laugh and fellowshiping with his church family was very important to Paul.

Family gatherings and the holiday celebrations were such a special time to spend with Paul. His joy at the holidays was contagious and uplifting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hettie Dornan; spouses, Pat and Jewel; and brothers, Floyd, Eual, Levi, Johnny at age 14; sisters, Vera, Christine, Nerva, and Sybill at 15 months.

Survivors include his daughter, Lea Streetman and husband Randall of Sasakwa; brother, AJ Dornan of Tuttle; grandchildren, Tracy Preston and wife Beth of Reno, Nev., Aleasha Ansel and husband David of Soldotna, Alaska, Tara "Baby Grand" Caldwell of Seattle, Wash., Amy Smith and husband Mark of Ada, and Steven Streetman of Norman; great-grandchildren, Ashlea, Jacob, Cody Paul, Joshua, Elizabeth Grace, Zachariah, Elijah, and Rose Kathryn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Special friends of the Holdenville Senior Nutrition Center and the Harvest Time Tabernacle Church family.

Funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Harvest Time Tabernacle Church in Holdenville, Okla. Pastor Jimmie Freeman will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Roger Streetman, Gene Streetman, Steven Streetman, Zachariah Smith, Elijah Smith, and Mark Smith.

Honorary bearers will be Jesse Blackburn, Edward Crump, Claud Clark, David Crump, Daniel Clark, Chaney Clark, and Kelly Blackburn.

Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.

Donald Douthit

Donald Eugene Douthit, 78, Seminole resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 in Seminole, Okla., he was born, Feb. 21, 1936, to Lottie May (Simmons) and James Lloyd Douthit, in New Lima, Okla.

Donald attended God’s Glory Church on Seminole, Okla. and was a retired Road Grader Operator for Pottawatomie County and retired at the age of 72.

He loved fishing and was dedicated for caring for his wife in the nursing home.

He married Wanda June (Foster) on Nov. 3, 1979 in Bowlegs, Okla.

Donald is survived by his wife Wanda June Douthit of Seminole, Okla., his son Terry Douthit and his wife Linda of Tuttle, Okla., and step son Donnie Cooper and his wife Amy of Shattuck, Okla. and step daughter Beckie Green of Shattuck, Okla., one sister Ina Childress of Chickasha, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Traci Wade, Rachel Gonzales, Treshieva Haulcomb, Colton Green, Logan Green, Catrina Cooper, Jessika Cooper and Houston Green and sixteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jim Douthit, Truman Douthit, John Douthit and Herman Douthit, Eddie Webb and his sister Bee Webb.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Bowlegs, Okla. with burial at Wolf Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Neda Douthit

Former Bowlegs resident, Neda Sue Douthit passed away Sept. 27, 2014 in Oklahoma City at the age of 51.

Neda resided in Bowlegs from 1991 until health issues caused her to relocate earlier this year.

She had a great love for animals and a collector of antiques.

Neda was born on March 13, 1963, in Ventura County, Calif. and moved to Oklahoma in 1978.

She married Dennis Voelker in 1981 resulting in the birth of her only daughter, Tiffany.

Years later Neda met Jim Riley Douthit, Jr of Bowlegs.

Jim and Neda joined their two families together in marriage on Feb. 27, 1993 in Bowlegs, Okla.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany and Daniel Acre, Oklahoma City; stepsons, Eric and Tami Douthit, Shawnee Okla., Riley Wade and Jody Douthit, Newalla Okla.; stepdaughter, Nikki Douthit, Tecumseh Okla.; grandchildren, "Acre"- Dezire, Draven, Danielle, Dustin, and Daniel Jr; "Douthit"- Cody, Chance, Garrett, and Hannah; and "Huddleston"- Rylee and Austin.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters, brothers, and in-laws.

Neda was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Douthit Jr.; her parents, Adrian and Nancy Endevoets; and her husband’s parents, Jim R. Sr and Marylee Douthit of Bowlegs.

Neda’s life was celebrated in a private family memorial service held in Oklahoma City shortly after death.

Annie Drake

Annie Pauline Drake, 86, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Moore, Okla.

She was born Feb. 24, 1928 in Seminole County to Noah Adam Orsburn and Lottie Viola Black Orsburn.

She married Roy Henry Drake March 12, 1946 in Wewoka, Okla.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Roy; son, Arnold Drake; sister, Sue Schoefield; and three brothers, Ed Orsburn, Floyd Orsburn, and W.C. Orsburn.

Survivors include children, Roy Henry Drake Jr. of Ottawa, Ill., Darlene Kay Varney of Aurora, Ill., Paula Ann Drake of LaSalle, Ill., Joel Ray Drake of Sasakwa, Okla., Gary Don Drake of Oklahoma, and Roger Lee Drake of Oakland, Calif.; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren; one sister, Aline Davis of Guthrie, Okla., and a host relatives.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Midway Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Moppin and assisting Jim Orsburn. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Carolyn Droste

Carolyn June (Ledbetter) Droste was born Feb. 19, 1935 to Joe and Maude Ledbetter in Maud, Okla.

She took her place in heaven on Monday, May 5, 2014 after losing her battle with cancer.

Carolyn graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, and then attended Oklahoma University School of Nursing, graduating with a Diploma of Nursing in 1956.

She worked in various areas of nursing and served on several local and state nursing boards and committees.

She returned to school, obtaining her BSN from East Central University in 1976.

She was passionate and committed to her profession dedicating over 37 years of her life to nursing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Jim Fields; son Curtis Fields; brothers, Paul and Frank Ledbetter; and sister, Joann Guinn.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Droste; sisters, Jacquelyn Butler of Tomball, Tex. and Doris Ellis of Lawton, Okla.; sister-in-laws, Rosie Stoos of Porum, Okla., Genny Rubio and Carol Ann Whitten of Oceanside, Calif., Dot Monroe and her husband Hayward of Mountain View, Calif. and brother-in-law Frank Droste of Johnstown, Colo.; daughters, Janice and Jeff Harbin of Harrah, Okla., Becky Goumaz of Kellyville, Okla., Cindy and David Wilson of Seminole, Okla..; grandchildren, Blake Bowling, Breane and Zach Griffith, Joe and Sarah Goumaz, Kelly and Aj McElroy, Nicole and Eric Whisenhunt, Christopher and Kaitlin Wilson, Amber Fields, James and Claudine Fields; Jennifer Harbin, Stephanie Harbin and Jeffery Harbin; and seven great grandchildren, Michelle Fields, Landon Bowling, Doss and Lane Griffith, Addison and Aiden Whisenhunt and Nehemiah Wilson.

In addition Carolyn is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of dear friends.

Funeral Services under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home are as follows:

Wake Service on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, 1001 N. Milt Phillips Ave;

Mass Service on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 811 W. Wrangler Blvd. (Highway 9) in Seminole. Father Brendan Helbing, O.S.B., will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Blake Bowling, Zach Griffith, Joe Goumaz, Aj McElroy, Eric Whisenhunt, Christopher Wilson, James Fields, Jeffery Harbin and Clay Droste.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Jewelie Dunlap

Jewelie Mae Dunlap Marzett, was born to Jewel Dunlap and Lonada (Brannon) Dunlap, Sept. 17, 1939 in Earlsboro.

Jewelie was the first born. She was fondly called "Mae" by her family, dear friends and close relatives. She was named Jewelie after her father Jewel. She was also a very rare precious "Jewel" to all that knew her!

She attended Seminole High School and graduated in 1957. Her class was the third integrated graduating class after mandatory integration of schools. She then pursued her higher education at Seminole Junior College.

She met the love of her life at an early age and married Eudell W. Marzett, Sr.. She was a loyal devoted wife to him for nearly 53 years until death did them part. To this union five children was raised in Boley which was the hometown of her husband. She accepted Christ at an early tender age.

After she moved to Boley, Jewelie Mae joined Chiles Chapel AME Church where she was the secretary officer for many years. She worked for the State of Oklahoma at the Boley State Training School for boys, which later became John Lilley Correctional Center. She later retired from there.

Jewelie loved her family dearly and would tell her children that they were her best friends. She was a loving wife and a phenomenal mother.

She will always be remembered for her delicious dishes, she prepared, with lots of love for family and friends. Cooking and crossword puzzles was her favorite past times.

Jewelie Mae departed this life on Nov. 16, 2014 early that morning with her devoted children right by her side. Preceding her in death, was her father, Jewel Dunlap, her mother, Lonada (Brannon) Dunlap, her husband, Eudell W. Marzett, Sr., brothers, Billy Don Dunlap and Mack Easley.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories and her "Jewel" life will forever be celebrated by her devoted loving children. Four daughters, Karla Marzett, of Yukon, Oklahoma, Sherilyn Conger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Catrice Marzett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Marander Marzett of Boley, Oklahoma; one son, Eudell W. Marzett, Jr. of Boley, Oklahoma; two step-sons, Reginald Knighton, Sr. of Seminole and Ricky Johnson of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Wanda Phillips of Shawnee, and Sandra Winrow of Earlsboro; one brother, Clayton Armstead of Earlsboro and a host of special nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at Earlsboro Cemetery, Earlsboro.

Ava Dunson

Ava Frances (Williams) Dunson born to Ernest and Mary Williams, passed from this life on Monday, Nov. 4, 2014 in Seminole, Okla.

She was a lifelong Seminole resident.

Ava was born March 12, 1951 in Talihina, Okla.

She was a member of the Thlopthlocco United Methodist Church and the Thlopthlocco United Methodist Women.

She married Gary Dunson on February 23, 1973 in Okemah, Okla.

They had two children John Charles Dunson of the home and Misty Erin Dunson of Seminole, Okla.

She is also survived by seven sisters Marcella McKane, Evita Williams, Doris Boone, Bonita Williams, Regina Williams, Jolanda Williams and Lahoma Calvert all of Seminole, Okla., one brother Gerald Williams of Seminole, three grandchildren Katcv Polhemann, Fayv Polhemann and Shaianne Polhemann, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Tony Ray Williams and Roy Chon Williams.

Casket bearers will be Gerald Williams, Jarod Williams, Steven Ponkilla, Nick Kelley, Stacy Haney, Tracy Haney, Justin Boone, Walker Williams and Willie Yargee.

Honorary bearers will be the Thlopthlocco United Methodist Women.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at the Hitchitee United Methodist Church.

Wake services will be held on 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.

Mrs. Dunson will be taken to the Hitchitee United Methodist Church on Friday, for wake services there at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening.

Clarence Yarholar and David Little will officiate at the service.

Burial will follow Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Little Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.
