Jeff Harris

Jeff Rodney Harris, a Sasakwa resident died in his home Dec. 30, 2012.

He was born to Jack "Podge" Harris and Joyce Clark Harris in Ada on Mar. 31, 1959.

He attended and graduated from Sasakwa High School.

Survivors include sons, Bert Harris and Bo Harris both of Sasakwa; one brother, Jack Harris of Seminole; and one grandchild.

Services will be held at the Stout-Phillips Chapel in Wewoka on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2012 at 1:00 pm. with burial in the Vamoosa Cemetery.

Rev. Jimmy Freeman will officiate.

Pallbearers include Monty Armstrong, Shawn Green, Victor Johnson, Freddy Carpenter, Chad Schweinle, and Larry Weger.

Honorary bearers will be Kip Osborn, Mark McFerran, Gary Kilpatrick and Jay Lewis.

Debbie Harrison

Debbie Lynn Harrison, 56, longtime Wewoka resident died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at her home.

Debbie was born on May 16, 1956 in Wewoka to Frank and Ora (Dutey) Chesser.

As a child, Debbie overcame Polio and many of the hardships that went with that disease, through her faith in God.

She attended Wewoka schools and graduated.

Later she attended East Central University where she received a Bachelors degree in Human Service Counseling.

She was a current employee of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where she specialized in elderly and people who were disabled. She had worked for 12 years for the department and all her clients loved her dearly.

Debbie was a Christian and loved teaching Sunday school; she was the type of person who always wanted to learn something new.

She loved to read, crochet, sew, cook, and photography; she loved to take pictures and study photos.

She will always be remembered by her family as a loving wife and a #1 mother, who taught her children well.

She married Richard Harrison on July 30, 1974 in Wewoka.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Harrison of the home; three sons and daughters-in law, Richard Jay and Sherry Harrison of Wewoka, Jason Christoper and Carrie Harrison of Holdenville and Justin Anthony and Holly Harrison of Seminole; a daughter, Laura Elizabeth Harrison of the home.

She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Chesser and his wife Sadie of Wewoka, Bill Chesser and his wife Carolyn of Wewoka, Benny Chesser of Seminole, Okla. and Frankie Chesser and his wife Julie of Wewoka; her sisters, Maxine Nunn of Seminole, Minnie Sue Morphis of Cromwell, Okla. and Priscilla Ann Morphis and her husband Robert of Bearden, Okla. Her nine grandchildren, Mekaela, Dalton, Alessa, Allison, Cassidy, Gabby, Leia, Gabriel and Isaiah Harrison; and one great-grandchildren Jesse Harrison also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five infant siblings; one brother, Jimmy Leon Chesser; and one sister, Peggy Lou Harmon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Richard Jay Harrison, Jason Harrison, Jsutin Harrison, Brandon Chesser, Tim Chesser and Andy Chesser.

Honorary bearers will be Tony Chesser, Steven Chesser, Eugene Chesser, Bob Chesser, David Garlett, Larry Chesser, Jr., Dean Walker and Robert Cranford.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Allen Harvey Jr.

Allen "Buford" Harvey, Jr., 54, lifelong Seminole resident died, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at his home in Seminole.

Buford was born Oct. 24, 1959 in Seminole to A.B. and Wanda Harvey.

Buford grew up in the Seminole, Bowlegs area and attended Bowlegs Schools and graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1977.

He was a member of the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church.

He worked for many years with his father at Eastern Oilwell Cementing Company in Seminole.

He loved to fish, spend time with his children and friends, play Chinese checkers with his Mother, play the violin, and chase storms.

Buford was a man who loved people and was always ready to help someone in need, especially pull them out of the snow or mud when stuck from the bad weather.

He was known as a friend to everyone.

Buford is survived by his wife, Tracy Lynn (Burgin) Harvey, they had been together since 1990, she survives him of the home; his two sons, Allen Buford Harvey IV and his wife Libby of Shawnee, Lloyd Thomas Harvey of the home; his two daughters, Vanessa Harvey and Clint Fowler of Tuttle and Sabrina Harvey of Seminole; his parents, A.B. and Wanda Harvey of Seminole; his sister, Rita Barrett of Seminole; and four grandchildren, Aiden, Addi, Maddi and Keegon; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a infant son, Allen Buford Harvey III; his grandparents, J.H. and Roxy Davis who lived in Bowlegs; and Roy and Lola Harvey who lived in Seminole.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at the Bowlegs Assembley of God Church in Highway 99 South, with Dr. Jack Medlock officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Doug Presley, Jackie Jones, Buford Harvey, Tyler Richardson, L.T. Harvey, Edward Bruno and Shawn Clark.

Honorary bearers will be Jim Brawning, Ollie Mainard, Jeff Cavet, Jerry Brashears, Rick Jones, Jake Stewart, David Adams, John Barrett, Micah Barrett and Clint Fowler, Steve Roberson and Ronnie Richardson.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Viola Hatfield

Viola M (Jensen) Hatfield passed away on Monday, Oct. 1st, 2013 in Holdenville, Okla.

She was born Oct. 6, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Vi graduated from Somerville New Jersey High School and began her working career at W.T. Grant Co. in Philadelphia where she met Glenn I. Hatfield, they married Aug. 3, 1937.

They had two sons, Kenneth and Bruce and moved to Wewoka in 1948.

They owned and operated Myles Dress Shop until 1970.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wewoka.

Vi enjoyed swimming, reading, solving puzzles as well as many travels with Glenn and her sister Lillian.

Preceding Vi in death are parents; husband, Glen; son, Bruce; sister, Lillian Vallette; and brother, Carl Jensen.

She is survived by son, Ken Hatfield of Wewoka.

A Memorial service was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Greg Amen officiating.

Arrangements were by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Cookie Hawkins, 85
Feb. 24, 1928 - July 12, 2013

Cookie Hawkins, 85 year-old long time Seminole county resident passed away, Friday July 12, 2013 at Seminole, Okla.

She was born Feb. 24, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Okla. to parents, Carl Vincent Boggess and Edith Evelyn (Strait) Boggess.

Cookie married Arvel Lee Hawkins on Sept. 24, 1944.

They moved to Seminole in 1952 from California.

She was a homemaker who loved to crochet, canning vegetables from her garden.

Cookie's largest investment was always in her family and friends.

Cookie is survived by her husband, Arvel of the home; four daughters, Shay Haworth of Naples, Fla., Joy Blanton and her husband, James of Seminole, Okla., Linda Moore of Seminole, Okla., Vicki Webb and her husband, Ron of Lindsey, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Hollie Johnson and her husband, Darian of Seminole, Okla., Marc Hailey of Houston, Tex., Don Haworth of Moore, Okla., Missy Goodnight and her husband, Travis of Alma, Ark., Jason Blanton of Shawnee, Okla., Bryan Guthrie and his wife, Paulette of Seminole, Okla., Kelly Hamm and her husband, Chad of Shawnee, Okla. and Kristen Cowell and her husband, Jeff of Seminole, Okla.

Cookie is also survived by numerous great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and special friend, Gladys Brinsfield of Seminole, Okla.

Cookie was preceded in death by her great-great grandson, Trenton "Tag" Godwin on March 6, 2012.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Marcella Haycox

Marcella Ann (Wakatani) "Marcy" Haycox, 51, Oklahoma City resident and former Seminole County resident died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was born May 25, 1962 in Holdenville, Okla. to Kiyoshi Wakatani and Lola Kristine (Lindsey) Wakatani.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her mother, Kristine Lindsey of Chicago, Ill., four daughters, Lola Wakatani of Birchwood, Tenn., Jessica Vickery-Wakatani of Lawton, Okla., Dorlia Haycox of Bethany, Okla. and Shawna Haycox of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Michael Wakatani of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Gretchen Wakatani of Appleton, Wis., Dorena Nero of Chicago, Illi., Tina Wakatani of Houston, Tex., and seven grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Kiyoshi Wakatani.

A wake service is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole, Okla. with Rev. Eddie Joe Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Lindsey Family Cemetery north of Wewoka, Okla.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Lucy Hayes

Lucy Ima Jean Hayes, 79, former Seminole County resident died Friday, July 5, 2013 at her home in Shawnee, Okla.

She was born Jan. 23, 1934 in Konawa, Okla. to John Oliver and Annie Ruth (Gentry) Mcbroom.

She married Charlie Hayes on Feb. 5, 1949 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; her parents, John and Annie Ruth (Gentry) Mcbroom; two brothers, Ed and Orion Mcbroom; and three sisters, Louise, Grace and Ruth.

She was a home health care provider.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Hohuliack of Ponca City, Okla., Diane Sholler of Indio, Calif. and Marilyn Rosales of Salten City, Calif.; sister, Cumi Kirkman of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Ray Wade officiating the service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Casket bearers will be Diana Flores, Irma Sanchez, Anita Hayes, Tonya Partin, Tomas Sanchez and Paul Austin.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
