Ellis Wise-Talmasey

Lifelong Seminole resident Ellis Eli Wise-Talmasey died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 in Shawnee at the age of 55.

He was born Nov. 13, 1957 in Seminole to Andy Wise-Talmasey and Jonah (Johnson) Talmasey.

After graduation from high school he earned an associate degree in Tribal Law from Haskel University of Lawrence, Kans. He also worked as a computer analysis.

He is survived by one son, Ellis Wise-Talmasey II of Seminole; two daughters, Lindsey Wise-Talmasey of Seminole and Eliza Harjo of Seminole; three brothers, Kennedy Wise-Talmasey of Seminole, R.G. Wise-Talmasey of Seminole and Houston Wise-Talmasey of Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret Wise-Talmasey, Linda Jones and Angel Wise-Talmasey; and one brother, Andrew Wise-Talmasey.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Coney Island Tabernacle, east of Bowlegs. Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Charles Troglin officiated. Burial took place at Narcomey Cemetery, Bowlegs.

Serving as casket bearers were Brent Factor, Moses Factor, Chris Factor, John Walker and Johnsey Walker.

Honorary casket bearers were Terry Wise, Raymond Harjo, Tim Narcomey and Dean White.

Allen Wolf

Allen Dewayne Hulbutta Wolf a Seminole county resident for the past 15 years, died Sept. 16, 2013 at the age of 53.

He was born May 31, 1960 in Wewoka to George Hulbutta and Sallie (Harjo)Wolf.

He attended Webster High School in Tulsa, worked at Ali’s Café and the Coffee Barn both in Seminole, and the Arrow Café in Tecumseh.

He is survived by one daughter, Michelle Louis of Tulsa; and one sister, Sonya Pohlemann of Seminole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sallie Wolf and George Hulbutta; and Raymond and Dorothy Wolf; one brother, Jacob Wise; two sisters, Yvette Hulbutta, and Christina Tallamassey.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will follow at Hitchitee Cemetery.

Wake service will be held Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole.

Casket bearers are Robin Roberts, Randy Roberts, Josh Cedartree, Chad Roberts and Roland Roberts.

Honorary bearers will be Cory Nedd, Cody Harjo, Jim Lena, Dezman Rose, Kevin Pohlemann and William Pohlemann, Sr.

Brandan Wood

Brandan Ray "Bubba" Wood, 25 year-old, lifelong Seminole, Okla. resident passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at his home in Seminole.

He was born Oct. 24, 1987 in Shawnee, Okla. to parents Johnny Ray Wood and Yvonne A. (Conger) Wood.

"Bubba" attended Seminole Public Schools and was of the Christian faith he attended the Community of Christ Church.

Brandan "Bubba" Wood was also a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his father, Johnny Ray Wood of Seminole; one son, Gage Paul Harris; one daughter, Jasmine Barnett; two brothers, Dustin Wood and Collin Wood; three sisters, Renee Harjo, Leigh Anne Scott and Lakota Wood; paternal grandparents, George and Barbara Washington; aunts, Ella Washington and Georgia Washington; uncles, Curtis Wood, Shaun Washington, Lewis Washington, Jacob Washington, Rodney Washington and Chris Washington; two nephews, Taevyn Scott and Korbin Scott; three nieces, Mya Harris, Montoya Harris and Maryiah Harris; and a host of other family and dear friends.

"Bubba" was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Conger; son, Kash Braydan Wood; maternal grandmother, Ruby Laxton, Ruth Perry; paternal grandparents, Mandy and John Wood.

A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Jim Collier and Freeman Whitlock will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Mike Washington, Jack Satawake, Tim Wood, Ronnie Burgess, Jerry Jenkins and Tyler Grandstaff.

Honorary bearers will be Curtis Wood, Shaun Washington, Lewis Washington, Jacob Washington, Rodney Washington, Chris Washington, Dustin Wood and Collin Wood.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Dorothy Wood

Dorothy Jean Wood, lifelong Seminole county resident died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Okla. at the age of 44.

She was born Feb. 17, 1969 in Lawton, Okla. to Willie Bond Underwood and Rosemary Holata.

She graduated from New Lima High School and attended Bacone College.

She was a member of the Ceyvha Band and a home maker.

She is survived by her mother, Rosemary Holata; one son, Chase Warren Wood; one daughter, Jessie Wood of Wewoka, Oklahoma; three brothers, Mark Smith, Eric Harjo, William Underwood; four sisters, Kathrine Underwood, Rosie Tiger, Bonita Underwood and Bonnie Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Bond Underwood; both grandfathers and one grandmother.

A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Houston Tiger, Jason Tiger and Newman Crowe. Burial will be at the Ross Family Cemetery.

Casket bearers are Mel Lena, Bryan Keith Coker, Steve Yahola, Houston Tiger, Jr., Kendall Tiger and Chris Cloud.

Honorary bearers are Roy Holata, Jeff Tiger, Ted Underwood, Tippie Underwood, Samuel Spencer and Nathan Harjo.

Funeral directions are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Kaden Wood

Heaven gained a fierce warrior Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 when Seminole resident, Kaden Anthony Daniel Wood, age 8, earned his ‘Warrior Wings.’

Kaden was born Dec. 31, 2004 in Midwest City, Okla. to Dawndra Darlene Wood and Kyle Anthony Ott.

He is survived by his mother, Dawndra Wood, two sisters, McKenzie and Kaylee, all of the home; father, Kyle Ott of Seminole; grandparents, Danny and Sharon Wood and Donna Batt; great grandmothers, Ruby Wood of Edmond and Gene Woodall of Seminole; his aunts, Talina ‘Ta’ Wood, Kalancey ‘Klanky’ Richardson; great aunt Brenda Griffith; uncles Jeffrey Richardson, Wesley Ott and Trent Walkup and first cousin Rusty Richardson, all of Seminole; as well as many other loving family and friends too numerous to name.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Connie Darlene Wood and Thelma Griffith; his great grandfathers Joe Griffith and Rusty Wood.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs, Okla. with Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Wilma Wren

Wilma Jean Wren of Shawnee, Okla., passed away Sept. 8, 2013.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1932, in Honey Grove, Tex.

She graduated from Strother High School in 1951.

She moved to Shawnee with her mother in 1965.

Wilma was a member of Abiding Grace Tabernacle in Shawnee: Pastor, Paul Gregg.

Wilma was kind-hearted and always willing to help those in need.

She loved to spend time with her family and also her church family.

Wilma is survived by her sister, Wanda Davis of Okemah, Okla.; her brother, Billy Wren and his wife, Joan, of Cathlamet, Wash.; her sister, Okla Cowen of Cypress, Calif.; her sister-in-laws, Evelyn Wren of Poteau, Okla. and Tracy Wren of Tampa, Fla. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mattie Wren; brothers, Wayne, Glendol and Clyde Wren; sisters, Wynona Heil, Bobbeye Alstate and Opal Hutcherson; brother-in-laws, Starland Davis, Edward Heil, Pete Alstate, Miron Hutcherson and Bill Cowen; and sister-in-law, Genieva Wren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at Shawnee Faith Assembly, 1415 East Macarthur Street, Shawnee. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Zorah Wright

Graveside services for Zorah Marie Wright will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery Gazebo in Okemah.

The infant daughter of Cody Ray Wright and Tiffany Jo (Nichols) Wright, she died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Shawnee, Okla.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Leroy Leftwich and maternal great grandparents, Roy and Mary Nichols and Buford Smith.

Survivors include her parents; one brother, Lane Michael Nichols; grandparents, Mike and Vickie Nichols of Okemah, Shelly Wright of Oklahoma City, Ray Wright of Okemah and Labrista Landers of Okemah; great-grandparents, Jean Smith of Okemah, Andy Latondress of Okemah; Bernice Leftwich of Oklahoma City and David and Minnie Batten of Oklahoma City.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Don Baker.

Ronald Wyatt

Former Bristow, Okla. resident Ronald Lee Wyatt, 77, died Aug. 21, 2013 at the Veteran’s Center in Norman, Okla.

He was born June 22, 1936 in Bristow to Cleed Wyatt and Winnie Settles Wyatt.

He grew up in Okemah and moved to Seminole, Okla. in 1951.

He attended Seminole High School and was a graduate of the class of 1954.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completing basic training he was deployed to Japan for two years serving as a cook.

Upon discharge he returned to Seminole and went to work for Jones and Laughlin, an oilfield supply company.

Later, he was transferred to Houston, Texas as a warehouse supervisor and after 28 years of service retired.

He is survived by his children, Mike Wyatt, Belinda Wyatt Adams, and Bobby Wyatt; brother, Harlan L. Wyatt; and sister, Helen Wyatt Slawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleed and Winnie Wyatt; twin brother, Donald Ray Wyatt.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
