James H. Kolander
Oct 7, 1953 – Jan 16, 2012

He is survived by the mother of his children, Pam Kolander of Seminole; one son, James Kevin Kolander of Seminole; three daughters, Kim and husband David Brewer, Jamie and husband Jerry Brock and Kasey and husband Andy Gorniak, all of Seminole; five grandchildren, Tanner Brock, Hannah Brewer, Lyndsey Brock, Braeden Kolander-Gorniak and Kasin Gorniak; one sister, Janice Gibson and three brothers, John Kolander, Eddie Kolander and Dan Kolander. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends who will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Trina Kolander and parents, JH and Eunice Kolander.

At his request, there will be no services.

Matthew Kuestersteffen

Matthew David Kuestersteffen, Konawa resident died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the age of 63 at his home.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8th at the church. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bobby Kuestersteffen, Leo Kuestersteffen, Tony Kuestersteffen, Zeb Kuestersteffen, Darrell Kuestersteffen, and Carl Capps.

Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Hendrix, Jerry McCraw, Bob Harrison, Homer Downey, Maurice Green, and Jeremy Green.

He was born April 15, 1949 in Konawa to Benedict Kuestersteffen and Catherine (Green) Kuestersteffen.

He graduated with an Associates degree from Okmulgee Technology Center and served in the Army.

He worked as an auto mechanic and also worked in the oilfield industry.

He is survived by one son, Stephen Kuestersteffen of Mary Ester, Florida; one daughter, Lori Sharp of Konawa; three brothers, Bobby Kuestersteffen of Marshfield, Missouri, Leo Kuestersteffen of Sasakwa and Tony Kuestersteffen of Konawa; three sisters, Pat Shank of Moore, Kay Harrison of Konawa and Ann Payne of Sulphur; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict and Catherine Kuestersteffen; two brothers, Jody Kuestersteffen and Chris Kuestersteffen Green and one sister, Theresa Patterson.

Albert Larison

Albert Preston "Al" Larison, Jr., 79 year-old Wewoka, Oklahoma resident died Sunday, Jan 1, 2012 at his home in Wewoka.

He was born April 26, 1932 in Hazard, Kentucky to parents Albert Preston Larison, Sr. and Molly (Childers) Larison.

Larison served in the United States Army. He later worked, as a truck driver until his retirement.

Survivors include three sons Donnie Larison of Seminole, Keith Larison of Chillicothe, Ohio, Tony Larison of Seminole; two daughters and one stepdaughter, Beverly Combs of Middletown, Ohio, Connie Larison of Middletown, Ohio, Robyn Gonzalez of Lakewood, California; one brother, Lloyd Larison of Monroe, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Larison was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Peggy and Jeannie; one brother, Milford Larison; and by two stepdaughters, Donna and Kathy.

Memorial services are scheduled for a later date.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Ruby Larison

Ruby Catherine (Hill) Larison, 84 year-old Seminole resident died Jan 10, 2012 at Integris Seminole Medical Center Hospital.

She was born Oct 16, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio to parents Etheridge Hill and Annie (Richey) Hill.

Ruby married Albert Preston "Al" Larison, Jr. on April 3, 1948 in Newport, Kentucky.

Ruby retired from working at General Motors.

Survivors include three sons, Donnie Larison of Seminole, Keith Larison of Chillicothe, Ohio, Tony Larison of Seminole; two daughters, Beverly Combs of Middletown, Ohio and Connie Larison of Middletown, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert Preston "Al" Larison, Jr.; and one sister, Helen Martin.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Jan 12, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Emma Lawrence

Funeral services for Emma Nichole Lawrence, daughter of Alaya Chantonee Warrior and Tristan Sean Lawrence, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, with burial at Thomas Town Cemetery in Sasakwa.

Ruby Laxton

Feb. 18, 1942 – Nov. 18, 2012

Ruby Lee (Brewer) Laxton, age 70 and a resident of Seminole passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21st at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Roy Robertson, Pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs will officiate.

Ruby was a high school graduate and affiliated with the Assembly of God Church in Bowlegs.

She married Homer Laxton in 1974.

Ruby was preceded in death by her dad, Mike Brewer and mother, Ruth Perry; her husband, Homer "D.L." Laxton; one brother, and a daughter.

Ruby is survived by the family that loved and cared for her for the past eleven years. They include her sister-in-law, Linda Laxton of Seminole; one niece, Stacy Glenn and her husband, Kevin; great nephews and great niece, Austin Laxton and Bailey, Blake, and Kolbi Glenn, all of Seminole, who fondly referred to her as "The Rube".

Jennifer Lee-Kishketon

Jennifer D. Lee-Kishketon, 32-years-old, a Seminole county resident died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at her home.

She moved to Seminole one year ago from Ontario, California.

She was born July 11, 1980 in Tulsa to parents, Rowe A. Kishketon and Patricia A. (Lee) Kishketon.

She graduated from McLoud High School in 1998, she also attended Harvard College in Boston, Mass. and Pitzer College of Pomona, California.

She was employed with the Wells Fargo Bank of Chino Hills, California.

She was the first young lady to have held all three titles of Little Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss Seminole Nation.

She is survived by her parents, Rowe and Patty Kishketon of Shawnee; grandmother, June Lee of Seminole; sisters, Leighann Koshiway, Nikki Reed of Oklahoma City; brothers, Martin Green, Jr. of Harrah, Michael Green of Harrah.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Hitchitee United Methodist Church with Rev. Alvin Deer and Pastor Rick Deer officiating. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers are Waukeen Hamilton, Colby Lehman, Michael Plumley, Edmond Howell, Chance Rush and Steve Ward.

Honorary bearers are Arlen Goodfox, Billy Komachcheet, Sam Howell, Amos Patty, Willie Larney, Larry Daylight, Justin Yerby.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Dallva Lemons

Dallva "Curtis" Lemons, Sr., age 75 and resident of Asher died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Norman Veterans Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Asher Church of Christ under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Asher. Rev. Jim Kelly will officiate.

The Military Honors Team will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is Monday through Wednesday until 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1937 in Marlow to Dallva Chester and Bonnie Marie (Rhone) Lemons.

He married Linda Watkins on Dec. 12, 1956 in Independence, Misourri.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering and he worked as Project Engineer for the Nuclear Test Site in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He retired as Captain with the Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Watkins) Lemons of the home; his mother, Bonnie Lemons of Tecumseh; two sons, Brian Lemons of Las Vegas, Nevada and Christopher Lemons of Asher; one daughter, Laurie Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sisters, Eva Stolz of Norman, Laqueta Barstow of St. Louis, Misourri, Bonita Ball of Denver, Colorado, and Renee Adams of Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dallva Chester Lemons and one son, "Dallva "Dal" Lemons, Jr.

Alberta Lewis

Graveside services for Alberta Maxine Lewis are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Allen Moore officiating.

She was born Jan. 13, 1916 in Chico, CA. to the late Thornton and Anna (Miller) Copper.

She passed away Thursday, Dec. 20th, 2012 at Wewoka Care Center.

Alberta married Edmund A Lewis in Reno, Nv. and he precedes her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and retired as cafeteria supervisor in CA. Her passion was cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

Preceding Alberta in death are her parents, husband, brother Robert Copper, and son Edmond Lewis.

Survivors include daughter Carmen Doolin and husband Richard of Wewoka; daughter-in-law Sarah Lynn Lewis of Calif.; grandchildren, Vincent Lewis and wife Diane of Calif., Victor Lewis, and wife Debbie of Calif., Ricky Boyles, and wife Leslie of Holdenville, Kristy Hope of Wewoka; nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Jeffery Hope, Camron Hope, Ricky Boyles, Treyton Johnson, and Dedric Johnson.

Arrangements are by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Beretha Lewis

Beretha Betty Sancho Lewis was born Nov. 18, 1934 in Seminole. She was the first born child of Alice and Scipio Sancho.

She attended Lima Elementary and graduated from Douglass High School in Wewoka.

In her earlier years, she was employed at George Devoe in Wewoka. She also worked at a nursing facility and at Seminole Hospital.

She worked as a Dietician manager at University Hospital for 32 years, where she retired.

She was united in marriage to Clyde J. Lewis on Sept. 19, 1966.

She had two children, one daughter, Cheryl Jean Cochran (Clive) of Seminole; one son, Jerald James Sr. of Oklahoma City. She also mothered Barbara Ann Sancho (Garfield) of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; a sister, Rebecca Sancho; a brother, Willie Sango; and a grandson, Christopher Garfield.

Beretha is survived by her husband; both of her children; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and an adopted daughter.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Scipio Baptist Church in Lima. Pastor Larry Payne will officiate the service. Interment will be at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Pallbearers will be Terry Phillips Sr., Lamar Phillips Jr., Jon Griffis Jr., Nathaniel Garfield, Jerald Sancho Jr., and Terry Phillips Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Davis, Dave Thomas, Lorenzo Edwards and Quincy Garfield.
