Joann Pickens

Joann Pickens, known as "Dorset" age 73 and a former resident of Konawa, died Wednesday, Jan 4, 2012 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.

A wake service is scheduled Sunday, Jan 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan 9th at the Konawa Chapel. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Ed George will officiate.

Pallbearers are Bill Armstrong, Frank Armstrong, T.A. Larney, Harold Stone, James Payton, David Green, Darrell Armstrong, and Eric Cowan.

Honorary pallbearers are Scott Story, Cody Story, Malachi McCracken, Luke Cloud, Cliff Tinkler, Dean Walker, Damond Harjo, Bolo Harjo, and Ben Allford.

Dorset was born on July 29, 1938 in Konawa to Burl Story and Maudy (Woods) Story.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Michael Story of Holdenville; three daughters, Judy Cloud of Ada, B.J. McCracken and Linda Cook of Carnegie; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Maudy Story; Jerry Green; one sister, Christan Gibson; and four brothers, Roman, Amond, and Richmond Harjo, and Tony Gibson.

Keith Pinion

Keith Pinion was born Sept. 17, 1960 in Holdenville to Carl and LaVerne Pinion.

He passed away on June 17, 2012 at the age of 51.

Keith graduated from Holdenville High School in 1979 and moved to Henryetta to attend OSU OkmulgeeTech for auto parts management.

He later worked for the Creek Nation in Tulsa.

He also owned his own service station and auto sales lot.

Later Keith returned to the Holdenville area and worked for Town & Country Auto.

Keith was always smiling and laughing and enjoying life.

He loved going to the lake and riding his wave runners.

He was also a huge fan of NASCAR and OU Football.

Most of all Keith loved spending time with his family and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gene Hearn and his maternal grandmother, Abbie Itson; paternal grandfather, Author Pinion and grandmother, Marie Pinion; uncle Frank Hearn and uncle Joel Pinion.

Survivors are his children of the home: son, Clint Eugene Pinion; daughter, Katie Lynn Pinion of Bowlegs; his parents, Carl and LaVerne Pinion of Holdenville; brother, Kevin Pinion and wife, Marcia Pinion of Holdenville; sister, Karla Ramsey of Holdenville; sister, Kim Turner of Holdenville; niece, Heather Pinion; niece, Sarah Pinion; nephew, Dylan Ramsey; niece, Shelby Ramsey; nephew, Ross Turner and his significant other, Christie Crawford of Mansfield, TX; her children, Lindsey Crawford, Cody Crawford; special cousin, Felicia Baca and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Hank Neal, Kevin Hardeman, David Neighbors, Raul Chavez, Richard Carr and Josh Klimek.

Honorary bearers will be Jim Turner, Mike Ramsey, Dustin Bristow, Nathan Cross and Donnie Stotts.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Holdenville.

Roy Sisco will officiate with Kevin Hardeman and Overseer John T. Berry assisting.

Interment will follow at Bibly (Glory) Cemetery in Holdenville.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.

Ralph Pippin

Ralph Avery Pippin, 87, passed from this life around 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan 19, 2012, in Enid, Oklahoma.

Ralph, a lifelong Seminole resident, is survived by his bride of 67 years, Marion Crawford Pippin.

A memorial service and a viewing will be held Tuesday, Jan 24, 10:00 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow the service and eventfully his remains will be interred with his wife. Chris Stinnett will officiate at the service.

Born on Feb 28, 1924 in Weleetka, Ralph moved to Seminole with his family at the age of two.

Ralph attended Seminole Public Schools, served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII, and returned to Seminole to operate Pippin Plumbing for 56 years with his brother Lee Pippin.

Ralph was a faithful member of the Seminole Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years.

Ralph was always ready to tell a joke and loved to hear them and for many years could be found weekday mornings at Park’s Drug drinking coffee and swapping jokes and stories with his buddies.

In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by one brother Lee Pippin of Seminole, one sister, Bernice Lindsay of Tecumseh, one son, Richard David Pippin of St. Robert, Missouri and one daughter, Linda Pippin Griffin Puckett of Enid. Five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five-great great-grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Pamela Porter-Dahl

Pamela Ann Porter-Dahl born on April 6, 1951, passed away on March 5, 2012.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Kenneth Masters Dahl II; her parents, James and Barbara Porter and three brothers, Brice, Stephen and Richard.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kightlinger and her two grandsons, Tanner Powell and Hunter Brannan; her sister, Maureen Manning; three nephews, Marshall, Mason and Levi; her niece, Jamie; three great nephews, Dean, Evan and one on the way and her aunt, Donna Mains.

There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, March 31, 2012 between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Shawnee home.

Come and share a memory and a meal with the family of Pamela, an irreplaceable mother, wonderful grandmother, loving sister, caring aunt and a deeply loved and missed friend.

Pamela’s Words to Live By were:

"Life’s too short to have white walls."

Ray Powell

Ray H. Powell, 84, of Edmond, died April 6, 2012 at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.

He was born Feb. 22, 1928, in Lawton, to Ray and Edwina Powell.

He married Corinna (Hillery) Powell on June 11, 1954, in Waurika.

He attended high school in Temple and was a 1950 graduate of Oklahoma A&M.

He was a banker for forty years and throughout his career was active in Lions Club and other civic work in Seminole, Hollis and Edmond.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Edwina Powell.

Ray is survived by his wife, Corinna, of the home in Edmond; his son, Kyle Powell of Okmulgee; three daughters, Debbie Brooking of Tulsa, Heather Owen of Seattle, WA and Courtney Moore of Tucson, AZ and nine grandchildren.

Graveside services were Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at the Waurika Cemetery. Rev. Karen Slater officiated.

Services were under the direction of Dudley Funeral Home in Waurika.

Tinley Powell

Tinley Rae Powell infant daughter of Shane and Tracy (Traylor) passed away Saturday, July 14th, 2012 in Oklahoma City.

She was born June 13, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

A private family service was held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Church of Christ, Wewoka.

Aaron Alsbrook and Dane Robinson officiated and burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery.

Survivors include her parents, Shane and Tracy Powell of Wewoka; twin sister, Timber Nicole Powell; maternal grandmother, Tina Smith of Wewoka; maternal grandfather and wife, Dean and Tammy Smith of Blanchard; paternal grandparents, Stephen and Patti (Billingsley) Powell of Wewoka; maternal great-grandparents, Max and Virginia Smith of Wewoka; paternal great-grandparents, Don and Cheryl Powell of Wewoka; uncle and aunt Chase and Lacy Powell of Wewoka; aunt and uncle Trina and Rusty Carter of Holdenville: cousins, Addie Powell of Wewoka, Tatum and Cash Carter of Holdenville; a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements were conducted by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

G.W. Ppool

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Bixby Cemetery officiated by Dr. Hess Hester.

G.W. Ppool was born on Oct. 20, 1923 in Krebs, Oklahoma to William Ppool and Myrtle Tressie (Logsdon) Ppool.

He passed from this life on July 13, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 88 years, eight months and 23 days.

G.W. was a graduate of Bowlegs High School.

He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

He had lived in Tulsa since 1963 where he retired after many years as a District Manager for Continental Emsco.

He was a longtime member of the Southern Hills Baptist Church.

When he was not working, G.W. loved to watch O.U. football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

He married Colleen Ouida (Adair) Ppool on Nov. 27, 1944 in Bowlegs and after more than 65 years of happiness together, she preceded him in death on May 19, 2010.

He was also preceded by eight siblings, Lois, Alice, Ed, Doris, Leo, Pete, Emma and an infant brother.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandy McGuire and husband Richard, of Sapulpa, and Gina "Jeanie" Allphin of Liberty Mounds, OK; one grandson, Zachary Allphin and wife Teri; two great-grandchildren, Kolten and Dakota; a sister-in-law, Virginia Ppool and several other relatives and friends.

Mildred Pratt

Mildred Lucille (Swarb) Pratt, 91 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 3, 1921 west of Maud to parents, William Swarb and Lula (Dixon) Swarb.

Mildred attended Harjo Schools north of Maud.

On May 31, 1941 Mildred married Bernard Pratt in Tecumseh. The couple later moved to Maud in 1945.

She was a member of the Maud East Oak Church Of God.

Mildred also served at the past-president of the Cook-Harjo Home Demonstration Club and past-president for the American Legion Auxiliary where she held her 50-year membership. She also served as the overseer for Fairview Cemetery association.

Mildred was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory one son, Gary Don Pratt of St. Petersburg, Florida; one daughter, Betty Lou Pratt of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Amber Jenkins and Dawn Gow; and six great-grandchildren, Patrick Corser, Ayla Saldin, Marcelo Doria, Ryan Gow, Maddie Jenkins and Kylie Jenkins. Mildred is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lula Swarb; her husband, Bernard Pratt who died on Oct. 12, 1970; three brothers, Marvin Sward, Willard Swarb, Elva Swarb; and by one sister, Lillie Baker.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at The Sooner Road Church Of God located at 1724 South Sooner Road in Oklahoma City. Brother Art Bostic will officiate the service and interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud where the family is due to arrive at approximately 12:30 p.m., the casket will be open for those wishing to pay their respects.

The family has requested that donations be made to The Sooner Road Church Of God 1724 South Sooner Road in Oklahoma City, OK 73110 or to The Full Life Hospice Organization in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or to the Fairview Cemetery Fund at 28680 Kings Road in Maud, Oklahoma 74854. Please make donations in memory of Mildred Pratt.
