Frankie "Shorty" Gore

Lifelong Seminole county resident Frankie "Shorty" Gore, 80 has gone to be with the Lord. He was a loving Daddy and Grandpa.

Frankie was born in Savanah, Oklahoma on September 25, 1929 to Monroe and Jewel Gore. He married Margaret Ruth Bryant the mother of his children on March 23, 1955 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He lived in Clinton, Oklahoma for 20 years.

Frank died on June 13, 2010 at his home in Wewoka, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. He was of the Baptist faith. He was raised around New Model and Wewoka and went to school at New Model; he served in the Army.

Frankie was a truck driver and mechanic all of his life, after retiring he worked from home doing mechanic work and small engine repair. Several people around Wewoka at one time have brought their lawnmowers, car or anything else that needed to be fixed to "Shorty" and he would repair them.

He loved camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his children and family get-togethers. He also enjoyed sitting and shooting the bull with his friends. He will be truly missed by all.

Frankie is survived by his children, 9 daughters and 2 sons, Maggie and Richard Kilgore of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Della and Dwain Pitts of St. Louis, Oklahoma, Brenda and Mike White of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, Hazel and Jim Jackson of Denison, Texas, Linda and Buddy Henington of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Frances and Tommy Monks of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, Kay Lee of Seminole, Eunice and Charley James of Seminole, Oklahoma and Margaret Choate of Wewoka, Oklahoma, two sons Frank "Buddy" Gore of Seminole and John Gore of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Frank left behind 27 Grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and one on the way. Companion of the home Flora Lou Smith and his beloved dog Molly also survive him.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mildred Bryant of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Hazel Kendrick of Wilburton, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews as well as many dear friends.

Those who precede Frankie in death are his mother and father, Monroe and Jewel Gore and wife Margaret Ruth Bryant, sister, Delores Jean Gore, granddaughter, Joanie Jean Mooney and two great grandsons, Michael Helt and Quinton Pitts Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Pastor Guy Cagle officiating. Frankie will be laid to rest at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Pallbearers will be: Charlie Pitts, Quinton Pitts, Stephen Kilgore, Richard Kilgore, Jr., Teally White, Michael Gore and David Gore. Honorary Bearers will be: Billy Jack Lee, Danny Choate, Jr., Franklin Gore, Charles Dewayne "Boo" James, Korrey James and Frank Gore Jr.

Imogene Gore

Imogene (Yocum) Gore went home to be with her Lord Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Oklahoma City at the age of 89.

She was born in Bristow, February 25, 1921 to Ethel Mae (Childress) Yocum and Walter Buel Yocum.

Imogene was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker with a servant’s heart.

She loved creating delicious meals, working in her garden, sewing and entertaining family and friends.

She enjoyed her church and was a long-time member of Millwood Baptist Church.

Imogene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, William Clinton Gore; sister, Clara Whitehead and brother, Delbert Lee Yocum.

She is survived by daughter, Marsha S. Gore; son, Larry P. Gore and wife, Lydia; grandchildren, Leisa L. Gore and L. Paul Gore and wife, Sydney; great grandchildren, Kate, Solome and Isaiah Gore; brother, Lester Yocum and wife, Juanita; sisters-in-law, Nadine Neal and husband, Richard, Pearline Gore, Frances Gore and Laverne Gore; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Billy Graham

Billy Ray Graham, age 81 and a lifetime resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, died on Friday, October 29, 2010 at his home.

Billy was born on July 6, 1929, to Pearl (Beddo) and Grady Graham in Vamoosa. He was a retired tool pusher for the oilfield industry.

He is survived by three sons, Roger Graham of Konawa, Jack Graham of Konawa, and Robert Graham of Konawa; five daughters, Peggy George of Konawa, Judy Cook of Ada, Brenda Graham of Konawa, Carrie Yerby of Wolf, and Falisha DeLoera of Konawa; two sisters, Wanda Brown of Byng, and Jean Litterell of Oklahoma City; fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Grady Graham, and two brothers, Warren and Grady "Tuck" Graham

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2nd at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Mitch Williams, Pastor of Byng Assembly of God will officiate.

Pallbearers are Mike Burris, Josh Yerby, Alex DeLoera, Bobby Hudson, Willie Walton, and Billy Jack Graham.

Honarary pallbearers are Bill Armstrong, C.L. Bounds, Darrell Mackey, Mike Murley, Ralph Hamah, Rick Lowry, Carl Wyatt, Luther Brown, and Jim Litterell.

George Gray Sr.

Funeral services for Wewoka native, George R. Gray Sr., 67, were held recently in Louisiana. He died on June 18, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Wewoka on April 29, 1943, to George C. Gray and Lillian Smith Boatman (Henry), and relocated to New Orleans in 1962 and has been a resident of Waggaman, LA for 27 years.

He married Iva Parker Gray and they were married for 35 years. They had three children, George R. Gray Jr., Maria G. Doelse and Chief Petty Officer Daniel H. Gray, as well as four grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ive, siblings Donna Holland, Glenna Sneed, Barbara Crelia and Ed Boatman, and a host of family and friends.

George was a reader, he served in the U.S. Navy, was a First Class Chief Engineer for 42 years and a retired member of IOUE Local 406.

Cora Green

Wake Services for Cora Mae Green will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Chapel, with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating and assisted by Rev. Bill Holbia.

The body will be taken at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to Sand Creek Eufaula for Wake Services at 7:30 p.m. .

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Sand Creek Eufaula with Rev. Houston Tiger and Bill Holbia officiating.

Cora Mae (Lena) Green was born August 30, 1921, and passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 in Holdenville, OK.

Ms. Green was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church and a sister leader helper.

She was a volunteer for OAP, a member of Seminole Nation Red Hat Society and was well known for her prize wining quilts, patch work, and cooking.

Her grandchildren will miss her Cherry-Banana Crème Pies Cora's favorite food was Pizza.

Preceding Cora in death are her parents Charlie and Winey (Joshua) Lena, husband Wesley Green Sr., brothers Willie, Joe, Tom, Robert, Edward, Frank Jacob, Lillie, and Reed Lena; sisters

Lillie, Elizabeth Douglas, Lucinda Lena, Betty Fixico, and Effie Bender, grandson, Christopher Merritt, three great-grandchildren, Cherokee Woods, Kyle Merritt, and Chad Merritt.

Survivors include: Children, Wesley Green Jr. of the Home, Vanessa Green, Ostie Merritt, Linda Martin, Ricky Woods all of Wewoka; Billy Merritt, Charles Merritt, and Oscar Bunner of Seminole; Mary Woods, Maud; Mose Merritt and Kizzie Green of Wetumka; Sister Mary Jane Lena, Wewoka; 28 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.

Pall Bearers will be Paulo Gonzeles, Kevin Fields, Shawn Fixico, Roy Carpitcher, Tommy Culberson, and Phillip Yargee. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Grandson.

Jimmie Gregg

Funeral services for Jimmie Dale Gregg, 68, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, are scheduled for Friday, March 26, at 2 p.m., in Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel. He was born September 5, 1941, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to Hollis and Mittie Mae Gregg and died March 19, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Wewoka and graduated from Wewoka High School, in 1959. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War and a life member of DAV Chapter 39, in Midwest City. He graduated from OSU, in 1972, with an Associates Degree, in Radiation and Nuclear Technology and a Bachelor of Science, in Nuclear Engineering Technology.

Jimmie retired from Tinker Air Force Base and after reitiring in his leisure time his passions were building and flying RC airplanes, seeking out great deals, garage sales, making and fixing things.

Survivors include: his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Marsha Gregg; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and William Hollander; grandchildren Connor, Carsen, Ronin, and Edan, sisters Edna Knight, of Shawano, Wis., Mary Davis, of Oklahoma City, and Sharon Admire of Nacona, Texas.

Preceding him in death are his twin brother, Willie, and brothers, Richard, Donald, Howard, Wayne, and Cecil.

The Family request in Lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be given to a favorite charity.

Kenneth Griggs

Memorial services for longtime Holdenville resident Kenneth Ray Griggs will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Brandon Thetford officiating. He died on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 73.

Kenneth Ray Griggs was born January 29, 1937 in Hughes County, OK to Ray and Rachel (Moore) Griggs. Kenneth worked as a tree trimmer for many years and also work for the City of Holdenville for several years. Kenneth enjoyed working on lawn mowers and chain saws, gardening, watching baseball and wrestling and playing Moon in his younger days.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Jacklyn.

He is survived by four daughters, Margaret Thetford of Seminole, Ronda Ozeaetny of Oklahoma City, Khristine Griggs of Holdenville and Heather Dooley of Holdenville; two sons, Carl Griggs of Seminole and Donald Griggs of Holdenville; two sisters, Joyce Yates of Holdenville and Charlotte Hougland of Claremore, OK; two brothers, Jerry "Bud" Griggs of Jenks, OK and Paul Griggs of Empire City, OK; fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Kathryn Dixson Grisso

Longtime Seminole resident Kathryn Pauline Dixson Grisso passed away on Monday, October 25, 2010 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 84.

She was born on April 2, 1926 in Crosses, Arkansas to Samuel and Eliza Walker Gabbard.

Kathryn married Wiley Dixson on September 25, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1971, she later married A.R. Grisso in 1980 and he preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jim Dixson and wife Pat of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Hill and husband Dr. Terry Hill of Norman, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, John Dixson and wife Jeanine, Jeramy Hill, Joshua Hill, Megan Hill and Shari deBlonk and husband Kyle, two great grandchildren, Bradyn and Maren deBlonk.

She is preceded also preceded in death by her parents, Eliza and Samuel Gabbard, seven brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Priest Robert T. Wood officiating. Interment will follow Sunset Memorial Park in Norman, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be John Dixson, Jeramy Hill, Joshua Hill, Ed French, Albert Thompson, Joshua Hill and Kyle deBlonk.

Special Thank you the to Staff of Mercy Hospice and Willow Creek for all the love and care they have given to Kathryn and a special thank you to Joane and Linda.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to Merry Hospice, 4300 W. Memorial Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120 in memory of Kathryn.

Hattie Guest

Earlsboro resident, Hattie Mae (Cowan) Guest, 79, died Friday, January 1, 2010, at Hospice Quality Care, in Oklahoma City. She was born February 23, 1930, in Anadarko, to Emmett and Thelma Cowan.

She grew up on a farm in Watonga and later married Clarence Guest on March 11, 1950, in Oklahoma City. They later moved to a farm in Earlsboro.

She attended Fairview Baptist Church and worked many years in various fields of health care and retired from OU Health Sciences.

Hattie enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clarence Guest

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Johnson and husband Charles, of Earlsboro; son, Gary Guest and wife Peggy, of Seminole; five grandchildren, Landon and Angie Johnson, of Seminole, Kent Johnson and fiancé Angie Blakemore, of Grove, Heather Guest, of Oklahoma City, Allison Guest, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lindsay Guest, of Norman; great grandchildren, Ethan and Sydney Johnson, Maddelann and Hunter Johnson, Ryan and Lily Blakemore; sister, Charlotte Chandler and husband Don, of Watonga.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Gay officiating.

Emral Guinn

Emral Lee "Papa" Guinn, 82 year-old longtime Saint Louis, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home. He was born January 21, 1928 in Maud, Oklahoma to parents Delvy Emral Guinn and Gracie Ann (Lankford) Guinn.

He married Nelda Fern Moody on October 5, 1945 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Emral along with his wife started Guinn Oil Company in 1965.

Emral was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Anyone who knew him knows that his generosity was unending and his kindness unmatched. Emral was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud he was also a member of the Maud Roundup Club; he was named "Oilman of the year"; he also served on Saint Louis School Board of Education for several years; he enjoyed showing his horses and had owned three of the top halter horses in the world according to the American Quarter Horse Association.

Emral leaves to cherish his memory one daughter and son-in-law, Wynema Marshalee "Winnie" (Guinn) and her husband Bill Buley of Saint Louis, Oklahoma; one chosen son, Jr. Williams and his wife Connie of Saint Louis, Oklahoma (Nelda always jokingly said, "She wore Jr. home on her boots and Emral just had to get use to him."); two granddaughters, Matonna and her husband Mark Haynes and Maleea (Montgomery) Brock all of Maud, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Emral Layn Haynes, Matraya Erralee Haynes and TyLee Fren Brock; special niece, Airawona "Roshel" (Moody) Stobel and her husband Stewart of Lakin, Kansas and Christie Kay (Moody) McClaskey and her husband Gary of Maud, Oklahoma; step-grandchildren, Burl Buley and his wife Cathy of Franklin, Tennessee, Randy Kenyon and his wife Kay of Newcastle, Oklahoma and Jerrel Buley and his wife Shalisa of Harrah, Oklahoma; Jr. Williams daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Greg Beverage and their son Jase of Saint Louis, Oklahoma; and a host of other nieces, nephews and a lot of dear friends.

Emral is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Nelda Fern Guinn who died April 29, 2008; one brother, Albert Guinn and Albert’s wife June Guinn; one sister, Erma Guinn; and by one sister-in-law, Rogean (Moody) Worl who died December 15, 2007.

A Celebration of Emral’s life will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Seminole First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma. Rev. Marvin Kehl and Glenn Williams will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud on Monday, October 18, 2010 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. – The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Maud Nutrition Center or to the charity of your choice.

Casket Bearers will be: Greg Beverage, Robert Lowden, Brandon Potts, Danny Hedge, David Smith and Mark Haynes.

Honorary Bearers will be: Dan Hamilton, Bill Buley, Kenneth Stalnaker and all of his oilfield buddies.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
