Dean Huskins

Hershel "Dean" Huskins, 49 year old, Shawnee and former Seminole resident, passed from this life on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at his home. He was born May 20, 1961 in Bakersfield, California to parents Hershel D. Huskins and Jessie "Faye" (Jackson) Huskins.

He moved to this area from Fremont, California 31 years ago. He was a Senior Operator for the past 26 years with Exxon Mobil.

Dean married Melanie Armitage on April 9, 2001 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They are members of the Highway Baptist Church north of Seminole.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie (Armitage) Huskins of the home; his mother, Jessie "Faye" Huskins of Earlsboro, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brandon Huskins of Seminole and Joshua and his wife Samantha Gorum of Shawnee, two daughters, April Huskins and Kylie Huskins both of Shawnee, one brother, Dale Huskins of Seminole, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and her husband Charles Allen of Canton, Ohio and Amber Hardin and her husband Dave Garrison of Eufaula, one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leesa and her husband Ray Sandlin of Macomb, one grandson, Bricen Huskins of Shawnee, and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of other family and dear friends.

His father Hershel Huskins preceded Dean in death in 2007.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Highway Baptist Church located nine miles north of Seminole on Hwy. 99. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Brandon Huskins, Chad Huskins, Chris Huskins, Nic Hardin, Nathan Hardin and Mike Martin.

Honorary Bearers will be: Robert Allen and Nolan Hardin.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Justin Hutton

Justin Earl Hutton, age 29 and a life-long resident of Maud, Oklahoma, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Cummings Cemetery in Maud. Rev. Gary Wilburn will officiate. A memorial book is available to sign at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa, Oklahoma.

Justin was born on October 9, 1980, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Denice (Vasholz) and Dennis Hutton. He was a graduate of Maud High School and worked as a security guard at the Seminole Nation Casino on I-40 and Exit 200.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Denice Hutton of Maud; one brother, Jason Hutton of Maud.

Robert Ilbery Jr.

Earlsboro resident Robert Lee Ilbery, Jr., age 63, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Anthony Hospital, in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 26, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., to Robert Lee Ilbery, Sr. and Dorothy D. (Davis) Ilbery.

He graduated from Coalgate High School, in 1968. He had been involved in the Boy Scouts of America, 4-H, and the Future Farmers of America. Following graduation he attended Oklahoma State Technical School, in Okmulgee. He worked as a plumber until 2001.

He married Evelyn Gail Nunnelley, Sept. 16, 1970, in Okmulgee. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his mother, of Colgate; wife, of the home; sons, Kevin and Kyle Ilbery, both of Earlsboro; daughter, Krystal Davis, of Shawnee; brother, Steven Thomas Ilbery, of Coalgate; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Allen Cemetery, in Allen.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Edna Inman

Seminole resident Edna Mae Inman, age 72, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in Norman. She was born March 8, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Charles Theodore and Jessie Lorraine (Spears) Streeter. She came to Oklahoma from New York at an early age, where she grew up and later graduated from Wewoka High School, in Wewoka. She moved to the Seminole area in 1963, from Oklahoma City.

She was a Homemaker and later in life after her children were raised she bought the Right-Way Fence Company of Seminole and operated it from 1980 to 1995. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, of Shawnee. Inman was a bird hunter and also camped and fished. She raised bird dogs and had two dogs that were Oklahoma Dogs of the Year and one that was a national champion bird dog. She was also the First Woman President of the National Bird Hunters Association.

She married Allen Leon Inman on Aug. 20, 1956, in Wewoka.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Baker, of Seminole, and Sheila Underwood, of Earlsboro; sisters, Vida Turner, of Noble, Donna Twiggs, of Choctaw, and Judy Hopkins, of Harrah; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Allen Dewayne Inman.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Temple Baptist Church at 1234 East Highland, in Shawnee, with Rev. Mike Craig and C.L. Thomas officiating and burial at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be: Lance Underwood, Clayton Underwood, Keith Carter, Kevin Carter, Cody Bennett, Andy Renegar, William Green and Todd Cheatwood.

John Irick

John Merle Irick was born on July 20, 1954, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 2010, in Oklahoma City at the age of 55.

John, the son of John Lee and Elizabeth Lorraine (Eaton) Irick, was a resident of Little. John graduated from Paden High School with the class of 1972 and received an Associate’s Degree from Seminole Junior College.

John worked for years at Grissom Implement in Prague and later at Wolverine Tube in Shawnee.

He attended the Little Church of Christ. His father-in-law, Alvin Russell, preceded John in death

Survivors include: his wife, Judy Irick, of the home; his parents, John Irick of Paden, and Betty Irick of Prague; sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Heather Irick of Little, and John, Jr. and Evi Irick of Prague; daughters and son-in-law, Suan and Rick Streater of Shawnee, Amanda Irick and Gary Davis, both of Edmond; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Sherry Irick of Choctaw, and Andy and Miranda Irick of Prague; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and David Friend of Prague, Jeanne Irick of Arizona, and LeEtta and John Conway of Paden; five grandchildren, Shawn Irick Jr., Jace Streater, Payton Irick, Jenna Streater, and Emily Irick; and mother and father-in-law, Julia Roebuck and Phil Fields of Tecumseh.

The Irick family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 2 p.m., at the Little Church of Christ in Little with Rusty Dawson officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole County.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Leonard Irvin

Leonard Eugene Irvin, age 82, died at his home in Holdenville, Thursday, May 6th, after an extended illness. Leonard was born in Rule, Texas, to Boyce and Sarah Ann Irvin on June 27, 1927.

He attended schools in Texas and California .

After serving his country in the Navy, where he served four years, air force reserve for two years, he began 50 year career as a plumber and was licensed in four states.

He attained Master plumber status. He owned his own business in Avondale, Arizona, Omaha, Nebraska, and Konawa, Oklahoma .

He was avid reader, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and especially dancing.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alice of the home and two daughters, Kathleen, of Reno, Nevada, Lizzie of Omaha, Nebraska, three sons, Jeffrey of Hawaii, Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska, and John of New York City, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

His family wishes to express their thanks to his caregivers, especially Julee Crawley of Heartland Hospice of Shawnee, for their loving, compassionate attention and support during his illness.

Bernice Jackson

Longtime Tecumseh resident Bernice Helen (Hurst) Jackson, 76, died Sunday, October 2010, in Midwest City.

By her family she will be remembered for raking her yard and gardening, her love for antiques and collectibles and her generosity. She will be greatly missed.

She was born in Gotebo, OK. on January 19, 1934, to Jesse James Hurst and Cora Mae (McQuillen) Hurst.

She was reared in the Seminole/Bowlegs area. She attended Seminole State College with an Association Degree in nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse until she retired from Seminole County Health Department.

She married Lemuel James Jackson Jr. in Seminole on Oct. 6, 1950. They have five children, David Lee Jackson and daughter-in-law, Pam of Tecumseh, Garry Joe Jackson of Tecumseh, Paul Kelly Jackson of Tecumseh, Sharon Kay Bade and son-in-law Jim of Boise City, Marita "Diane" Breeding and son-in-law Mark of Shawnee.

Eight grandchildren, Dalton and Travis Jackson, Robbie Jackson, Stephanie (Bade) Yoder, Russell and Sara Bade, Tony and Timmer Breeding and ten great-grandchildren, also survived by her brothers, Freddie and sister-in-law, Jeanette Hurst, Virgil and sister-in-law, Bobbie Hurst; sister, Verna Stewart; and sister-in-law, Raylene Hurst, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Her parents and her dear brother Orville Hurst precede Bernice in death.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday October 8th at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Ralph Jackson

Former Seminole County resident, Ralph Elvin Jackson, 63, died on August 17, 2010. He was born on October 13, 1946 in Kansas City, KS to Edward and Evelyn Jackson (Guess) the second of four children. Ralph received his formal education through Sasakwa, Oklahoma school district graduating in 1969.

After graduation, Ralph enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War until he received Honorable Discharge.

Ralph moved to Kansas City as an employee of the US postal service downtown Kansas City, MO retiring in 1991.

Ralph was survived by his mother Evelyn Nichols, three brothers Edward Jackson, Floyd Jackson and Ronald Guess all of KCK. One sister, Sharon Duvernay of New Orleans. One daughter JaQuita "Pookie"Whitaker, two grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 9-11:00 a.m., at Salem Baptist Church 1820 North 11th Street Kansas City, Kansas.

A Religious Service followed at the Church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Tony Carter, Jr. officiating.

Interment at Leavenworth National Cemetery Leavenworth, Kansas at 1:30 p.m.

Tony Jackson

Lifelong Seminole resident Tony Hubert Jackson died on October 8, 2010 in Seminole at the age of 49.

He was born on January 6, 1961 in Seminole to John Hubert and JoAn (Hilton) Jackson.

He worked as a manager in the restaurant industry. He was a member of the Living Word Church in Shawnee.

He married Patty Ferguson Jackson on May 23, 1985 in Bowlegs, and she survives him of the home.

He also is survived by two sons, Kristopher Jackson of Shawnee, and Steven Jackson of Seminole, one daughter Kathrynn Jackson of Seminole, and brother, Johnny Lee Jackson of California.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Living Word Church, 3831 N. Kickapoo Avenue in Shawnee.

Wanda Jackson

Wanda Vivaree Jackson, 86 year-old, Seminole resident died December 9, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was born May 30, 1924 in Okemah to parents Barney Selfridge and Bertha Mae Selfridge.

Jackson graduated from Seminole High School in 1942.

She went on to work as a welder in the California shipyards.

In her early years she was a horseback rider and also sang and danced and always dressed up.

Jackson later worked for Herman’s Pig Stand in Seminole for many years.

She was also a member of the Chickasaw Nation.

She married Fred Jackson on June 30, 2004 in Seminole after they had met at the Senior Citizen’s Center.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Jackson; three daughters, Charlotte Stout of Seminole, Cherie Bosnos and Linda Galloway both of Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Her parents and several other family members preceded her in death.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Rusty Dawson will officiate the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
