Delilah Morehead

Delilah Mae (Smith) Morehead was born on May 28, 1950, in Prague, and departed this life on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at her home in Paden, Oklahoma, at the age of 60.

Delilah, the daughter of Ben J. and Dorothy Bernice "Bobbie" (Lee) Smith, was a resident of Paden. She married Terry Lee Morehead on January 30, 1967 in Okemah.

Delilah received as Associate’s Degree in Science from Seminole State College and worked as a newspaper editor with the Sac and Fox Nation. She was a member of the Prague Freewill Baptist Church.

Her parents; two brothers, Wesley and David Smith; and one sister, Linda Taylor, preceded Delilah in death.

Survivors include: her husband of 43 years, Terry Morehead of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kaycee Morehead of Prague; daughters and sons-in-laws, Terra and Ricky Vass of Paden, Andrea and Greg Robinson of Paden, Jennifer and Jon Wright of Yukon; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Regina Smith of Prague; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Allen Caton of Prague; grandchildren, Colby, Wanda, Kelsi, Tyler, Gabriela, Genna, Riley, Jeffrey, Lucas, Nicklas, Gabby, Dameon, Zach, and Gavin; great-grandchildren, Kelby and two on the way, Paden and Wanda Jean.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2 p.m., at the Freewill Baptist Church in Paden with Bro. Randall Miller and Bro. David Taylor officiating.

Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Milbrey Morphis

Funeral services for Milbrey Morphis will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery.

Milbrey Morphis was born January 27, 1922 in Stone County, Arkansas to Charlie and Mary Martin Williams. She died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at her home in Bearden at the age of 88.

Milbrey had been a resident of the Bearden area most all of her life. She and J. D. Morphis were married April 21, 1940 in Okemah; he preceded her in death June 21, 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bearden Holiness Church.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, two sisters and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include her two daughters, Oleta Dodson of Bearden and Faye Whisnant and husband Jim of Bearden; one sister, Charlesetta Lantis of Okemah; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearer will be Tommy Griffin, Mike Griffin, Justin Whisnant, Jordan Brewer, Matthew Underwood, Michael Galloway, and Mark Jackson.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah and officiated by Rev. Andy Young.

Paul Morrell

Paul Quinton Morrell, 44, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident died, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Integris Seminole Medical Center. Paul was born March 7, 1966 in Seminole to Paul Clinton and Eva (Rain) Morrell.

One son Paul Morrell of Shawnee, Oklahoma, one brother Clinton Morrell and three sisters Sherry Smith, Paula Morrell and Melina Kerry survive Paul.

His parents and a nephew Bobby Dee Scott preceded him in death

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Morrell Family Cemetery west of Seminole. James Benedict and Jerry Carey will officiate the services.

Casket bearers will be Samuel Cervantes, Brendon Johnson, Jared Pennock, David Geitz, Eli Spraker, Jon Hadley and Preston Starnes.

Verl Morris

Sasakwa resident Verl William Morris passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the age of 84 years, at Carl Albert Hospital, Ada.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Spring Baptist Church, Sasakwa, with Rev. Frank Moppin and Pastor Roger Streatman officiating, and interment to follow at Palmer Family Cemetery, Sasakwa.

He was born November 14, 1925, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Grover and Clara (Falls) Morris.

Verl entered the Army November 20, 1942, and was discharged on December 8, 1945. He then entered the United States Air Force on May 23, 1947, and was discharged on April 28, 1950. He then entered once again on May 3, 1950. He served overseas in the South Pacific from June 20, 1943 to November 27, 1945; in Guam from June 15, 1947 to April 10, 1949; July 24, 1951 to January 13, 1953 in Germany; in Canada from February 16, 1955 to February 15, 1956; Iceland from May 19, 1958 to May 17, 1959; and the Philippines from August 14, 1961 to August 17, 1963. He retired as a Radar Tech with the US Air Force, June 29, 1974.

During his military service, Sgt. Morris received the following Decorations and Awards: Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal with four Bronze Loops, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one Silver Star, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Bronze Loops, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Throughout his military service Sgt Morris gave faithfully.

Verl was a member of Spring Baptist Church, where he served as a Music Director. He was a horse rancher and loved working with his horses and spending time with his family and friends along with being an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his early morning coffee and working on his tractor and listening to gospel music.

Preceding Verl in death are his parents; brothers, Rev. Sam Morris, Rev Allen Morris, Zack, Edward, and Grover Morris Jr.; and sisters, Geraldine Franklin, Marcella Ward, Vivian Morris, and Richanda Morris.

He married Joanna Palmer on July 7, 1973, and she survives him, of the Sasakwa Home.

He is also survived by his daughters, Joyce Ann Ivy, and Harriet Rice; one grandson, Devon Rice; two sisters, Alice Grant, and Viola Pruitt, both of Stroud.

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Palmer, Terry Palmer, Michael Palmer, David Albert, Stephen Albert, and Servando Cruz.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Tony Palmer, George Harjo, Lalo Cruz, Sandra Blue, Priscilla Johnson, Robert McKinney, Tracy Albert, and Jelene Factor.

Jeremiah Morrison

Today God has a truly remarkable man in his presence. On May 23, 2010 Jeremiah Hershel Morrison went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 83 years.

Hershel was born August 31, 1926 in Seminole, OK to James Jefferson and Bertie Mae (Collins) Morrison. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1945 and moved to Wewoka with his parents to farm and lovingly care for them until their departing days.

It was at that time he began his own life and married Freda Banta on April 17, 1960. During their 50 golden years of marriage the couple parented, loved, and cherished two children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Together they served the Lord attending Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church in Wewoka and later First Missionary Baptist Church of Seminole. Hershel retired from Big Yank Jean Factory after 29 years of service in 1988. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, hand piecing quilts, and making and sharing lifetime memories.

Preceding Hershel in death are his parents, three brothers, Nolton, Walton, and Dalton Morrison, one sister Dollie Cleek.

He leaves behind his loving wife Freda of the home, daughter Mary Frances Morrison of the home: son Jimmy Morrison and wife Collette of Wewoka. One grandson Jeremiah Morrison of McAlester, two grand-daughters and spouses, Missy and Dustin Johnson of Ada, Robin and Mike Griffin of Seminole: four great-grandchildren.

Though he left many tear filled eyes here on Earth he was welcomed by a host of friends and family rejoicing at the gates of Heaven.

This is a message from his granddaughters.

Grandpa, thank you for loving us always without judgment and always being there to protect and guide us. We would not be here today without your love.... just know God has taken a piece of us with you...we love you...to the moon and back.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Wetumka Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Smith officiating.

Arrangements conducted by Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Lloyd Mosley

Life-long Konawa resident Lloyd Cletis Mosley, age 80, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Valley View Hospital, in Ada.

He was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Konawa, to Mirtie (Risenhover) and Clarence Washington Mosley. He married Norma (Shaw) on Feb. 18, 1950, in Konawa. He worked as a Driller and Tool Pusher for most of his life. He served in the Korean War and was awarded three Bronze Stars for his heroism and meritorious service. He was also a long-time member of the Assembly of God Church, in Konawa, and he was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; son, Robby Mosley, of Konawa; brothers, Bill Mosley, of Denton, Texas, Leon Mosley, of Wewoka, and Floyd Mosley, of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Ellen Satterwhite and Sue Amundsen, both of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Clarence "Jr.", Cleo, Ralph, Jack, and Ellis Mosley; and sisters, Maxine Roundsaville, and Evelyn Harms.

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 8 at the Assembly of God Church, in Konawa, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams, Funeral Director, officiated, and Rev. Steve Lowrance, Pastor of the Assembly of God Church, of Konawa, assisted. Burial followed at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Mark Mosley, Kendall Satterwhite, Aaron Issacs, Dusty Moore, Drew Mosley, Freddy Carpenter, Al Boison, and Tommy Lehman.

Honorary pallbearers were: John Guthrie, Darrell Mackey, Bill Raines, and Harold Kinder.

Gregory Moy II

Gregory Pete Moy II, passed away Tuesday afternoon at his residence in Wewoka, at the age of 83 years.

Born February 15th, 1927 in Krebs, Ok to Gregory Pete Moy Sr. and Mary Katherine (Arch) Moy.

He attended school in Krebs. In November of 1948 he married Betty McCoy in Sasakwa, OK and to this marriage two daughters were born.

Gregory was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. He retired from the Oil-field as a Tool pusher for over 50 years. He served in the Navy at the end of World War II. During his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and working outdoors.

Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Gale Moy, sister, Dorothy "Granny" (Moye) Cline, and brother, Bill Moye.

Survivors include his wife Betty Moy of the Home, daughter Elisabeth Wilkerson, and husband Mike of Holdenville, granddaughters Hayley and Kesha Wilkerson.

Pallbearer's will be Richard Cline II, Brock Ward, Jeff Davis, Thomas Davis, and Mike Wilkerson.

Honorary Pall-bearers will be Richard Cline and Ron Richerson.

Family request donation be made to American Cancer Society.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 A M Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Earl Scorings officiating, and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Don Mullen

Don Allen Mullen, 71, longtime Seminole resident died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Don was born on November 18, 1938 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Ernest and Beola (McMillian) Mullen.

Don lived in Vanoss, Prague and Maud before moving to Seminole. He graduated from Maud High School and served in the U.S. Army as a Private for two years.

Don worked for Doc Duvall for over 40 years in Home construction and for a time in the oilfields around Seminole. Don was a collector of Antique tools and loved football.

His brother Kent Mullen of Shawnee, Oklahoma survives Don.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Casket bearers will be Tim Poplin, Larry Spoonemore, and Johnny Meeks. Honorary bearer will be J P Duvall.

Mary Nail

Former Oklahoma City resident, Mary Nail, 93, completed this chapter of her life and started the next chapter on Friday, January 22, 2010, in Shawnee.

She was born October 17, 1916, in Gage, Oklahoma, to William G. and Mary E. (Sowers) Darwin. Mary graduated from Edmond High School, in 1933, at age 16, as class Salutatorian. She then went on to attend Central State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. In 1938 Mary graduated from Oklahoma A&M with her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught for several years, and then went to work at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II, where she worked for 13 years. After leaving Tinker, she was a substitute teacher until her retirement in 1977.

Mary married Roy Nail, Jr. on December 10, 1949. She was a member of Northwest Christian Church, in Oklahoma City. She was also a lifetime member of Eastern Star Chapter 247 in Edmond since 1936 as well as the Oklahoma City India Temple Shrine Widows Club. Mary had a heart of gold and was a woman of faith, integrity, and unconditional love. Her memory and lessons of life will live on through her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Nail, Jr., in 1990; parents; brother, Franklin "Bill" Darwin; sister, Nannie Darwin.

Those left to cherish their memories are her son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Kathy Nail, of Shawnee; grandchildren, Kristin and Ethan Coe, of Shawnee, Heather Nail, of Tulsa; great grandson, Cooper Coe; brother, George Darwin, of Duncan; and many other family members and friends.

Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, at Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee, and 9 a.m. to1 p.m., Wednesday at Northwest Christian Church, in Oklahoma City. Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Northwest Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Zena McAdams officiating, Burial to follow at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Edmond.

The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Rule Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and support.
