Donald Keith Patterson

Donald Keith (Don) Patterson, age 66, of Bethany, was born to B. Keith and the late Fonnie Sheppard Patterson, Oct. 9, 1936, in Washington, PA, and departed this life May 15, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Washington High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He married Delthia J. (Del) Wolf of Britton, OK, Sept. 19, 1958. He was employed by Fridgette Auto Air Conditioning of Oklahoma City 13 years and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years. He made many friends during his wok life, especially on his mail routes. As a citizen of Bethany the last 35 years, he was a good neighbor and friend. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He and Del have been active members of Trinity Nazarene Church, Oklahoma City for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Del, of the home; son, Dennis & wife Diane; grandchildren, Lindsey Ann and Erick Keith Patterson; father, B. Keith; and brother, David (Butch) Patterson, all of Mustang, OK. He delighted in his grandchildren`s accomplishments and attended almost all their sports events.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2003, at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany, with burial to follow in the Bethany Cemetery.

Edna Beulah Cordtz

Edna B. Cordtz passed away on May 15, 2003 at the age of 99 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was a long time resident of the Colorado Springs area before moving to Oklahoma a few years ago. She was born June 14, 1903 in Walnut HIll, Illinois to Bert and Esther Cox. She married Edmund Cordtz in 1927. He preceded her in death in 2000.

She is survived by 2 sons, Robert and wife Betty of Minco, Oklahoma and Dan of Santa Fe, New Mexico; 9 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Monte Smith

Monte Smith, 56, of Oklahoma City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003. He was born Dec. 30, 1946 in Mangum, OK to Parker and Opal Smith. Moving to Oklahoma City during his childhood, he attended Mayfair Elementary and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965. After studying at Oklahoma State University for two years, he enrolled in the U.S. Army in 1968. He graduated from Officers` Candidate School at Fort Sill in the top ten per cent of his class. His distinguished service to his country as an accomplished helicopter pilot took him to Germany and Korea as well as other assignments, eventually retiring at the rank of Captain in 1973.
During his overseas tenure, he met and married Gina Della Schiava, a native of Italy, in 1971. Three years later Monte and Gina moved back to Oklahoma City. In 1971 their first son Michael was born. Monte worked as a distributor of beauty products and helped manage a motel. Monte and Gina`s second son Anthony, was born to the couple in 1979.
It was during this time that Monte began his love for computers. He returned to school at UCO and earned a degree in computer science with a minor in business, graduating in 1984. For over 10 years he worked for Norick Data Systems as VP of Research and Development, helping to create software that proved to be highly profitable for the company. In 1994 he started his own consulting company, which led to work for American Banking Systems in 1995.
Friends and family alike view Monte as a loving and caring person. He would give his last dime to someone in need. He loved music and reading, and was a man of character beyond reproach. Monte was always upbeat. In the Army his subordinates considered him as much a friend as a ranking officer. He was both an officer and a gentleman.
Monte was preceded in death by his father Parker Smith and his brother Tommy Smith. He is survived by his wife Gina, his sons Michael and Anthony, all of Oklahoma City, his mother and stepfather Opal and Paul Reynolds, also of Oklahoma City, as well as numerous family in Italy and the United States. Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Church, 8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City, on Wednesday, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Church designated for St. Vincent de Paul Charities, Christ the King Building Fund, or the Peru Mission.

Marjorie Marcella Shellenberger

Marjorie Shellenberger was born April 17, 1923 in Bethany, Oklahoma and passed away August 3, 2003 in Oklahoma City from complications arising from heart valve replacement surgery. Her parents were Reverend L.H. and Ruby Dickerson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Darrell and Artis. She is survived by a sister Maurine of Oklahoma City, her husband Elmer of the home, one son Kent Shellenberger and wife Stephane of Bethany and a daughter Susie Shellenberger of Colorado Springs; three grandsons, Scott Brett and Matt Shellenberger.

Marjorie was an active member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. She also served as supervisor of junior high classes and college and youth missionary societies. She was a long time member of the Lifebuilder`s/Samaritan Adult Bible Class of which her husband Elmer is the teacher.

The family will be at a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, August 5, 2003 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in the Bethany Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shellenberger Marketing Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma or to the Anna King Library Fund at Hesston College of Hesston, Kansas.

Lloyd Alton Florence

Lloyd Alton Florence, age 85, passed away on August 8, 2003. Lloyd was born September 2, 1917, to Alton & Irene Condrey Florence at Banner, Oklahoma. He graduated from Yukon High School and served in World War II as an Army Sergeant in France. Lloyd was owner of Okie Tire Center, Inc. where he worked for 50 years. He was a member and faithful elder at Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Preceding him in death include his wife of 45 years, Peggy; parents, Irene & Alton Florence; brothers: Calvin & Johnnie, sister, Ruth, and grandson, Robbie Knapp. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis, daughters: Jeanine Knapp & Vicki Graves; step-daughters: Rebecca Crandell & Lee Recca, step-son, Jeff Crandell; brothers: Lyle Florence & Bill Florence and ten grandchildren: Rick, Jerry, Curt, Paul, Kelly, Ben, Erin, Christian, Kathryn & Jennifer.

Memorials may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2003, in Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, with interment in Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City.

Clyde William Wilson

Wilson, Clyde (C.W.) William, Jr., born Oct. 29, 1918 in Cement, OK, to the late Eva and Clyde William Wilson, Sr. He was the husband of the late Sybil Ruth Wilson and father of Donald Wilson, Sue Myers, and Nancy Horner. He had 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Bethany First Baptist Church, and a veteran of WW II. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Resthaven Cemetery.

Imaletta Carter

Imaletta Carter, age 73, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2003. She was born to Isaac Elmer and Mary (Bacon) Doty in Devol, Oklahoma on August 1, 1930. She was a homemaker and had worked as a bookkeeper for Hayes Electric & M&V; Supply. She had also been employed as a special events caterer & manager of student cafeteria employees at Bethany Nazarene College. She was a member of Williams Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Odis, Horace & Garley Doty; 1 sister, Glenna Bryan; and son-in-law, Jerry Martin. She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Carter of Bethany; son, C. Steven Carter & wife Vickie, Arlington, TX; daughters, Leah J. Martin and Ellen M. Carter, both of Bethany; son, Odis Carter & wife Kathryn, Bethany; sister, Bonnie L. Stewart Howerton, Bethany; grandchildren, Mike & wife Lorraine Carter, Danny & wife Vanessa Carter, Bradley Carter, Vanessa & husband Andrew Negley, and Jonathan Charles Carter; great-grandchildren, Rachael, Steven & Dakota Carter; numerous nieces & nephews, extended family members and special `children` of her heart, Linda Livengood, Robbie Huscher, Dixie Todd, Julie & Lindy Porter and Amy Madden. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson`s Disease Foundation.

Services will be held at Williams Memorial Church of the Nazarene, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct.ober 29, 2003 with interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

Jimmy Lee Atkinson

Jimmy Lee Atkinson, age 46, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died Friday, October 24, 2003, at South Community Hospital in Oklahoma City. Atkinson was employed by Ready Ice Co..

He was the son of Erwin Atkinson and Freda (Graves) Atkinson.

He is also survived by his wife Cynthia Atkinson;

Nelson J. Beckett

Nelson Jones Beckett left this life on October 23, 2003 at the age of 93. Born in Oklahoma City March 31, 1910.

He is survived by his wife Mildred of Yukon, his sons Nelson D. Beckett & wife Dot of Houston, Texas, Charles Doggett & wife Pattie of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Grandson Tim Beckett & Wife Rhonda, and Great Granddaughter Sara of Sugarland, Texas., granddaughter Tami Freund & husband Dan, Great Grandchildren Keith, Kyle, Kristie & Connor of Pearland, Texas.

He loyally served his community as Police Chief of Warr Acres for 26 years. Prior to this he partnered with his late brother Orville in Beckett Bros. Floor Co. He was a faithful member of Mayfair Church of Christ. He diligently served the community through leadership in Kiwanis International, the Heart Assoc., Lions Club, Jaycees & Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He received the CPI Award for Outstanding Law Enforcement Service for Okla. County. His years of work in drug education led to over 2000 speeches throughout the state and hopefully helped in saving many youthful lives. He was awarded a citation of bravery and was a distinguished member in good standing of the International Society of Poets. Services will be held 2PM Saturday, Octtober 25, 2003 at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Thomas Edward Minick

Thomas Edward, 63, joined his father and brother Harry in Heaven on October 14, 2003. Tommy was born to Harry and LaVerne Minick on November 9, 1939.

He is survived by his wife Nelda, daughter Kris Young, and four sons, Don, Randall, Scott, and Tim Minick. He is also survived by his mother LaVerne Minick, brothers Kenneth and Richard Minick, and sisters, Suzanna Laurent, Janie Clure, and Judy Jennings. Tommy also leaves seven grandchildren and a host of friends.

Tommy was well known for his willingness to help others learn his profession by sharing his knowledge and experience. He became a Certified Professional Safe Technician and was a member of the ALOA, OMLA, and SAVTA. God needed the locks changed on the Pearly Gates and his promises got locked in his vault, so he called Tommy home to help him.

Charley Clinton Thornton

THORNTON, Charley Clinton, Jr., age 79, of Edmond, passed away Wed., October 15, 2003, at St. Anthony Hospital in OKC. He was born December 23, 1924 in Iowa Park, TX to Charley, Sr. And Kate Thornton. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Townley`s Dairy in OKC and began Charley`s Courier Service. He served as a deputy sheriff in Wichita County, TX.

He was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Ray Thornton, El Reno, OK, and step-daughter, Deborah Ann Foglesong, OKC. He is survived by his wife, Willia Thornton, of the home, two sons, Gerald David Thornton, Joplin, MO and Perry O`Dell Thornton, Cabot, AR, and one daughter, Charla Sue Fritz, Yukon, OK and their mother, Nell Morey, Yukon, OK. He is also survived by his step-children, Linda E. Richey, Edwin Douglas Foglesong, Don Ray Foglesong; and 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was the world`s best father, husband, loved, admired and respected by everyone. He will be missed dearly. `We love you, Pop!` Services will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2:00 PM with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ermal Maxine Reneau

Reneau, Maxine Stoops, 89, of Bethany, passed away into God`s loving arms Oct. 21, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. Her life will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Friday, Oct. 24, at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany. Rev. Jason Morris will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. at Roosevelt Memorial Cemetery in Roosevelt, OK. Maxine was born Dec. 31, 1913 in Springfield, MO to Flora Mae & Willard H. Stoops. The family moved to Roosevelt, OK in Dec. 1919. She attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford and taught school in Cold Springs, OK for several years. She married Thomas H. Reneau on Sept. 18, 1937. Two sons were born from their union. The family moved to Bethany the summer of 1956. Maxine served as a substitute teacher, worked for Veasey Drug, and then went to the Okla. Dept. of Agriculture, Seed, Feed & Fertilizer Division in the State Capitol Bldg. as a Seed Analyst. She retired Jan. 1, 1977 after 21 years of service. Her beloved husband, Thomas, passed away Jan. 2, 1977. Maxine loved to travel and play the organ. She, with her dog, drove all over this country to see relatives, friends, but especially her grandchildren. She became a care giver, driving family & friends to doctor appointments and on errands until her early 80`s. Her family was the driving force of her life. She was a member of Council Road Baptist Church. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; 2 sisters, Gladys Kirkland & Waneta Richards; brother, Dorse Stoops; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Reneau. She is survived by two sons, Rex Reneau & wife Diana, Bethany, OK, and Max Reneau & wife Carla, Paradise, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Morris & husband Jason, Edmond; grandsons, Tom Reneau & Jon Reneau, Midland, TX; and great grandchildren, Jessica Morris and Jace Morris, Edmond. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF), 2601 N. W. Exp`y., Suite 613E, OKC, OK 73112.

Ray E. Murray

Ray E. Murray, 86, of Bethany, Oklahoma passed away October 17, 2003. He was born to S.B. and Laura Murray on January 9, 1917. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Orin), and one sister (Eunice). He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, La Verna; one daughter, Patricia Rae Hendrickson and husband, Paul of Olathe, KS; one son, Robert Wayne and wife Sherron, of Mineola, TX; two brothers, Lloyd and Wayne; one sister, Ruth; three grandsons, Daniel Murray, Anthony Murray, Brain Hendrickson; one granddaughter, Cynthia Hendrickson; four great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters; and a host of friends.

Ray was a life long member of the Church of the Nazarene, and was active in every phase of the church. He served on all the various boards and was a choir director for many years. He attended the Penn. Ave. Church of the Nazarene for 63 years and the Bethany First Church for 23 years. Services to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, October 22, at 11:00 am at the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene (6789 NW 39th Expressway). The viewing will be from 8 am to 9 pm Tuesday, October 21st at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service (3925 N. Asbury). Family receiving 4 pm to 6 pm. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (8701 NW Expressway).

Louise Carol Rowe

Louise Carol (McNeilly) Rowe, age 97, of Bethany, Okla., died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Grace Living Center in Bethany, Okla. She was a member of Williams Memorial Church of the Nazarene. .

She was the daughter of the late Albert McNeilly and the late Anna (Smith) McNeilly.

She is also survived by her One Brother, Brother-Warren McNeilly Four grandchildren

Arrangements are being handled by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, Okla.Funeral service will be at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service at 10:30 AM Friday, May 2, 2003 . Interment will be at Yukon Cemetery in Yukon, Okla.
