Josephine Steward Peebles

Josephine Steward Peebles passed away August 31, 2012.
She was born in LeFlore County, February 11, 1919.
Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Slaughter Steward of Bokoshe, Oklahoma.
Josephine married Tom M. Peebles shortly after WWII.
Her husband’s business took them all over the world.
They lived in South America, throughout the Middle East and Europe.
They retired in Durant, Oklahoma in the 1980’s.
For over eight years Josephine has been under the constant and loving care of Bernadine Medler of Colbert, Oklahoma.
Josephine’s family is so thankful to have been blessed with such an exceptionally loyal, loving and dedicated caregiver as “Berna”.
Josephine is survived by four nephews and nieces; Steve O. Beck of Durant, Oklahoma, John P. Beutelschies of Aurora, Colorado, Joan B. Serio of Venice, Florida and Ann B. Kurgas of Clearwater, Florida.
Graveside Services will be held at the Old Bokoshe Cemetery in Bokoshe, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. With Rev. Dan McLemore officiating.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.

Edith Smith-Bryan

Edith (Smith) Bryan, a resident of Albany, Oklahoma passed from this life in Durant, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the age of 89 years 6 months and 25 days.
She was born in Albany, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 17, 1923 to Walter N. and Nettie L. (Barr) Smith.
Edith was a member of the Albany Baptist Church.
She dedicated herself to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mom.
Edith was lovingly know as “Lady Smith” by those in her community and referred to as “Aunt Lady” by her family.
Mrs. Bryan is survived by her daughters, Glenda Robertson and husband Gene of Albany, Oklahoma and Linda Medina and husband Louis of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; grandchildren, 4; great-grandchildren, 18; great-great-grandchild, 1; brother, Wendell (Preacher) Smith and wife Jean of Albany, Oklahoma; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nettie Smith; husbands, G.T. Conditt and William Perry Bryan; granddaughter, Twyla Mae Beames; grandson, James R. Beames; step-grandson, Thomas W. Robertson; sisters, Baby, Laura, Wanda and Patsy Smith; brothers, Veachel, Claude, Ray, LeeRoy, Raymond Leo and Jerry Smith.
Family Hour from 7-8:00 P.M. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
Graveside Services held at 11:00 A.M on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Albany Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Robinson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Rick Steward, Bobby Large, Pete Smith, Terry Smith, James Eide and Paul Stanford.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Smith.
Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.

Dorothy E. Neagle

Dorothy E. Neagle of Conroe, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the age of 84 years 4 months and 25 days.
She was born in Childress, Texas on Monday, February 20, 1928 to Luther Elder and Lillie Mae (Beck) Neagle.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Bokchito Cemetery in Bokchito, Oklahoma with Rev. Dan McLemore officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2012 at Bokchito Cemetery, Bokchito, Okla.
Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home of Durant.

Mrs. Addie ‘Lou’ Albert

Mrs. Addie “Lou” Albert, 90, of Calera, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at MCSO in Durant.
She was born December 19, 1921.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Calera First Baptist Church with Rev. Jacob Toews and Rev. Billy Wood officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery in Achille, Okla.
Family hour will be Tuesday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the Calera First Baptist Church.
Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home will handle service arrangements.

Patricia Jean Allgood

Patricia Jean Allgood of Durant passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the age of 61.
Patricia was born March 22, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Charlie Meece and Reva Janice (Kirk) Meece.
She was a cafeteria worker for Washington Irving Elementary School and was of the Baptist faith.
She liked to hunt, fish, gardening, cook and go to garage sales.
She is preceded in death by her parents.

William Erwin Nix

William Erwin Nix, a resident of Calera, Oklahoma passed from this life in Plano, Texas on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the age of 71.
He was born to Garland E. and Mary Sue (Melton) Nix in Roberta, Oklahoma on September 30, 1940.
Erwin married Judy Carter in Calera, Oklahoma on May 15, 1964.
Erwin was a retired charter member of the Calera Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of the Calera Young Farmers and attended the Calera Methodist Church.

Fred Danny Armstrong

Fred Danny Armstrong, age 59, a longtime Atoka area resident.
He was born on Tuesday, August 05, 1952, to Fred W. and Barbara Jane (York) Armstrong, at Coalgate, OK.
Fred passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Atoka, OK.
He graduated high school from Atoka and then attended OU and then attended ECU where he received a Master’s Degree.
Fred was a psychologist and worked for the federal government in Indian Health Services.

Mary Jane Loper Engelage

Services will be held at Armstrong Baptist Church for Mary Jane Loper Engelage on Thursday, July 19,2012 at 10:00 A.M.
Reverends Richard Shreve and Monty Wood will officiate.
Family Hour will be Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 6-7:00 P.M. at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Engelege was a member of the Westside Baptist Church.
Mary Jane was born October 23, 1921 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and passed away July 16, 2012 in Durant.

R.C. “Doc” Chastain

R.C. “Doc” Chastain, 91, of Colbert, Okla., passed away Wednesday morning July 18, 2012 at the Stonebrook Assisted Living Center in Denison.
He was born March 9, 1921 to Bert and Dovie Horton Chastain in McCurtain, Okla.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Jewell Gardner on December 8, 1945 in Antlers, Okla.
They lived in Clayton, Okla., for many years where he was the Postmaster.

Jacob Andrew Terrell

Jacob Andrew Terrell entered this life on April 18, 1973 in Denison, Texas born to Marion Andrew and Linda Jean (Rinehart) Terrell and entered into eternal rest on July 16, 2012 at his home in Bokchito at the age of 39.
Jacob attended and graduated in 1991 from Bokchito Public School and later married Amber Wingfield on May 3, 2003 and to this union was born a son, Stran.
