Mabel Lorene Shepherd
A service was held for Mabel Lorene Shepherd, 82, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Bixby Funeral Service Colonial Chapel. Interment was at Bixby Cemetery officiated by Jack Selby. Services were under the direction of Jack Selby, Bixby Funeral Service.
Mrs. Shepherd was born February 24, 1922, at Xenia, KS. She was the daughter of Herbert Ewing and Glo E. West Ewing. She died November 21.
She moved to the Bixby area in 1940.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Truman Shepherd in 1965, a sister Elizabeth Hodgen, a brother, Jack West, a daughter-in-law, Mable Jones and Sean Michael Donelson.
She was preceded in death by one son, Truman Shepherd and his wife Shirley of Bixby; three daughters, Loretta Cotner and her husband EArl of Mounds, Jeanie Hillman, and Gayle Donelson and her husband Jim; one sister, Alice Frazee; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Thomas H. Leatherwood
Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2004, for Thomas H. Leatherwood, 69, at Leonard and Marker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Bixby Cemetery officiated by The Reverend Steve Lamberson.
Services were under the direction of Leonard and Marker Funeral Home.
Mr. Leatherwood was born September 11, 1935, in Wet Hartford, AR, to Bryan and Pearl Marie Blackard Leatherwood.
He died November 20, having been a long-time resident of Bixby. He served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Fay McCombs Leatherwood whom he married on February 24, 1956, in Ft. Smith, AR, as well as by five daughters: Wilma Wefer and her husband Paul of Liberty Mounds, Sherri Leatherwood of Bixby, Terry Brondel and her husband Les, Connie Robertson and her husband Danny, and Tammi Dugdale and her husband Alan of Bixby; one son, John Leatherwood and his wife Shelby of Bixby; three sisters, Wanda Townley, Bessie Burrows, and Lorene Berryhill; one brother, R. B. Leatherwood; 11 grandchildren, Justin Wefer, Jared Wefer, Danielle Robertson, Taylor Brondel, Caleb Robertson, Callie Wefer, Alex Brondel, Holland Dugdale, Madison Dugdale, Morgan Dugdale and Beth Davis; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Jimmy and Sonny Leatherwood.

Ruby Mae Gilmore
A service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 18, 2004, for Ruby Mae Gilmore, 88, at Bixby First United Methodist Church, officiated by The Reverend Steve Morgan.
Mrs. Gilmore was born December 28, 1915 in Hulbert, OK, to Enos D. and Mary Elizabeth Wilkey Luna.
She died November 15 in Tulsa.
She moved to Bixby in her early 20’s and became co-owner of Gilmore’s Hardware and the Nusho Theater.
She married Glenn L. Gilmore, Jr., on May 3, 1936, in Henryette, OK, He preceded her in death on July 13, 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Glenda harder and her husband Jim and Mary Miller and her husband Clinton; one son, John Gilmore and his wife Nena of Mounds; five grandchildren, Geoffrey Harder, Jennifer Harder-Lissonnet, Jason Gilmore, Brent Gilmore and Christopher Miller and a sister-in-law, Frances Gilmore Anderson.

Joan Elizabeth Partain
A service was held for Joan Elizabeth Partain, 51, at 2 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2004, at First United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow. Interment was at Park Grove Cemetery officiated by the Reverend David Daniel. Services were under the direction of Jack Selby, Bixby Funeral Service.
Mrs. Partain was born November 6, 1953, at Wichita, KS. She was the daughter of Carl Lindal Adams and Billie L. Birkhead Adams. She died Thursday, November 18 at her home.
She married Gene Partain on April 6, 1973.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Carl Lindal Adams.
She is survived by her husband Gene; one son, Mike Partain and wife Dena; two daughters, Jena E. Aspden and husband, Tony; her first natural grandchild “Blinky,” expected on July 7, 2005, by Peggy Calrow and her husband David; her mother, Billie Adams; two sisters, Debbie Bryan and Sherry Hacker; six grandchildren, Marcus, Drew, Alex, Bailey, Jeremy and Leah.

Susan Renee Moody
Susan Renee Moody was born Aug. 15, 1966, in Midland Texas, and passed away Oct. 4, 2004. She graduated from Catoosa High School (1984) and Steven F. Austin Univesity (1989). She married Darren on Aug. 1, 1998.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Rupert and Leona Swadley and Sig and Billie Faircloth of Texas and survived by husband Darren Moody, Broken Arrow, Okla.; parents Ron and Georgia Swadley, Arlington, Texas, and by brother Brent Swadley and sister-in-law Melanie Swadley of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Also surviving are father- and mother-in-law Don and Lora Moody of Broken Arrow; brothers- and sister-in-law Randy and Lara Moody of Acworth, Ga.; Denise and David Van Winkle of Little Rock, Ark.; Duane and Brandi Moody of Seabrook, Texas; nine nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.
She was employed by U.S. Cellular. A celebration of Susan’s life was scheduled to be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa, where she was a member. The family has suggested donations in lieu of flowers to her favorite charities, Hope Harbor Children’s Home and Academy or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Lucille Lou Cavins
Lucille Lou Cavins, 78, died Oct. 13. Services were Oct. 15 at Tulsa Baptist Temple under the direction of Mowery Funeral Service.

Johnny Howard Lawrence
Johnny Howard Lawrence, 67, died Oct. 15. Services were Oct. 18 at Community Lighthouse Church in Skiatook under the direction of Nick Reynolds Funeral Service.

Inez Brumley
Inez Brumley, 79, died Oct. 15. Services were Oct. 18 at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso.

TRUITT EDWARD PARK
TRUITT EDWARD PARK, 66, of Ramona, died Nov. 29. Services were Dec. 3 at Collinsville Funeral Home Chapel.

James Melvin Chance
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004 at the First Assembly of God Church in Coweta for James Melvin Chance, 96, of Coweta.
Rev. Gary Rogers officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Wheezer Chance, Darrell Chance, Shon Chance, Gary Rogers, Craig Hall, Larry Judd, Daniel Bush and Neil Hays.
Interment was in Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
Chance died Saturday, Nov. 20 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home.
Chance was born Jan. 1, 1908 in McKey, Okla. to Jasper M. and Cora (Hames) Chance. He was educated at the Brushy Mountain School in Marble City.
On Aug. 9, 1930 he and Obie Edna Martin were married in Coweta. She preceded him in death. On Sept. 22, 1982 he and Gertie Martin Enkey were married in Coweta. She also preceded him in death.
Chance worked as a tool dresser in the oil field business for most of his life. He was also a farmer. He was a member of Thomas Community Church.
He is survived by five sons, Marvin Chance and his wife, Pearl, Paul Chance and his wife, Janice, Olen Chance and his wife, Kathey, James Chance, Jr. and his wife, Judy and Harold Chance and his wife, Pat; one daughter, Alice Rogers and her husband, Lester; two sisters, Lorene Bailey of Coweta and Hazel Potter of Oregon; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Cole
Services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004 at Masena Holiness Church in Tahlequah for Richard Cole, 81, of Coweta.
Rev. Bill Jackson officiated the service.
Interment was held at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
Cole died Friday, Nov. 26 in Coweta.
Cole was born March 15, 1923 in Peggs to Lee and Martha May (Young) Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Jay) Cole; one step-daughter, Farrie Marie Cagle and her husband, Allen; one sister, Bessie Myrick; one brother, Melvin Cole; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cole was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ira Cole, Clara Boling, Bertha Milsapp and Hattie Davis; eight brothers, Elmer Cole, Tom Cole, Louis Cole, Joe Cole, Richard Cole, Howard Cole, Bill Cole and an infant brother and one step-son, Louis Clent Chartier.
