HELEN MARIE HENRY
Helen Marie Henry, 81, of Talala passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at the Continuous Care Center of Bartlesville. She was born Feb. 7, 1927 in Delaware to David Christopher and Georgia (Wood) Patrick. She married Clarence E. Henry in 1946. She is survived by her husband, Clarence E. Henry Sr. of Talala; one son, Clarence Henry Jr. and his wife, Carole, of Bartlesville; one daughter, Lynda Atchison of Copan; one brother, Carl Patrick of Nowata; two sisters, Leona Costello of Nowata and Emmabelle (Bunny) Vann of Bristow; six grandchildren, Megan Henry, Jason Henry, Amie Holland, Melissa Chew and husband, Bret, Chuck Thornbrugh and wife, Melissa, and Dustin Atchison; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Thornbrugh and wife, Misty, Tayler Thornbrugh, Bailey Thornbrugh, Blake Chew, Branden Martin and Marissa Martin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville with Rev. Rich Kowalczyk officiating. Burial was in Ball Cemetery, Childers under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home.

BRYAN M. “PETE” WATSON
Former National Bait and Tackle business owner Bryan M. “Pete” Watson, 75, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12 in Houston, Texas. He was born Oct. 18, 1932 in Claremore to Bryan J. Watson and Elizabeth G. Eaton. He married Eva Sue Carte McLaughlin of Oologah in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Eva Sue; four daughters, Mary Jane and husband Thomas S. Brick of Houston, TX, Carolyn Elizabeth and husband Marvin Dick of Nowata, Leana Kim Webber of Tulsa and Helen Cassandra and husband Randle R. Huddleston of Claremore; three stepdaughters, Penny and husband John Littlefield of Pryor, Kim and husband Jack Shinnick of Denver, CO. and Ronda and husband Leon Wilson of Claremore; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at First Christian Church of Claremore with Pastor Randy Huddleston officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

JOHN NELSON ROBERTS
John Nelson Roberts, 86, of Talala, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 in Claremore. He was born Jan. 25, 1922 in Talala to Phillip and Mary Roberts. He worked for Rogers County District Two for 32 years until retiring in 1985. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lonetta Roberts and a son, John Frances Roberts. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Hillside Christian Church in Nowata with Rev. Ben Killion officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Oologah Dolton Funeral Home.

CHARLES SIDNEY BARRON
Charles Sidney Barron, 83, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008. He was a Petroleum Land Man and the father of Brad Barron of Talala. Services were held April 8 at Reynolds Funeral Service Chapel in Collinsville.

PAULINE DAWSON
Pauline Dawson, 93, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008. She was a resident of the Nowata and Talala communities for almost 88 years before moving to Huntsville, TX. in 2002 to be near family members. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church. She was survived by two daughters, Nedra Cole and Polly Brown of Huntsville, TX.; one son-in-law, J.B. Cole; one granddaughter, Lisa Channell and husband Kermit and four great-grandchildren of Benton, AR.; one grandson, Page Cole and his wife Carol and two great-grandchildren, Chad and Abby Cole of Wiley, TX. and a special granddaughter, Shannon Brown Fitch and her husband, Michael of Dallas TX. Visitation is April 10 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Benjamin Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 11, at Benjamin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Nowata Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home.

REV. CHARLES E. MABRY, JR. Rev. Charles E. Mabry, Jr., 87, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008. He was born June 4, 1920 to Charles Sr. and Janie Ann Strange Mabry. He was raised on the family farm in Talala until he left home to attend OSU. He served with the 45th Division during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He was director of the Livestock and Forestry Branch, Experiment Station of the University of Arkansas for 30 years. He graduated from St. Paul’s School of Theology in Kansas City, MO. in 1989 and was ordained in 1990. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Batesville, AR.; one daughter, Charlene and husband Gordon of CA.; two sons, Charles III of Batesville AR. and John and wife, Bebe of Iowa; three grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Vernon Lester and wife Kimberly of Sperry, Carolyn Lester McClellan of Washington, DC., Darla McLane and husband, John of Claremore and Vera Heuszel and husband David of Talala. Services were held March 14 in Batesville, AR.
Helen Ward Helen Ward, 68, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2008. Visitation is Wednesday, April 9, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 10, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Oologah Dolton Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the First Baptist Church of Oologah. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.

KAREN ANN JOHNSON
Karen Ann Johnson, 56, of Claremore, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008. She was born in Hartshorne Aug. 30, 1951 to Tommy and Lorene (Pickle) Whiting. Karen was a loving and compassionate person and enjoyed helping the elderly by volunteering at Meal on Wheels and United Way. She is survived by her husband, Ron of the home; one son, Kevin Johnson and his wife Cheryl of Oologah; grandchildren Ryan and Ashlee Johnson of Oologah; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Those who wish to honor Karen's memory may do so by contributing to the Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 92, Claremore, OK 74018-0092

LOY CARL BOYD
Loy Carl Boyd, 90, of Claremore, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008. He was the former Rogers County treasurer. He was born June 19, 1917 in Arkansas to James and Pearl (Drake) Boyd. Loy served in the Army, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was Rogers County Treasurer for 25 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Naomi, of the home; children, Carleen Mitchell, James C. Boyd and his wife, Loretta, all of Claremore, and Mary Page and her fiancé Michael Kinney of N. Las Vegas; grandchildren, Shelly Jones and her husband, Rick, of Claremore, Mike Ryan and his wife, Melissa, of Collinsville, Jennifer Puckett and her husband, David, of Oologah, Jason Boyd and his wife, Jackie, of Claremore, Carrie Steffensen of Chouteau and Sarah Denney of Springfield, MO; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at First Christian Church; burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.

SAM MITCHELL
Sam Mitchell, 97, of Talala, died on Feb. 23, 2001. He was a lifelong rancher. Services were Monday, Feb. 26 at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Tulsa.

WILLIAM BERRY
William Berry, 47, Collinsville, died Feb. 14, 2001. He was the son of Herbert Berry of Oologah. Services were held Feb. 17 at Church of the Nazarene in Claremore under the direction of Collinsville Funeral Home.

SETH AND ABBYGAYLE DONNELLY
Seth and Abbygayle Donnelly, infant children of Natasha (Brunson) and Robert Donnelly, died Feb. 15, 2001 and Feb. 16, 2001. Graveside services were held at Floral Haven in Broken Arrown on Feb. 19. Grandparents are Keith and Denise Brunson of Oologah and Chuck and Pat Donnelly of Chouteau.

JOSEPHINE SHUE
Josephine Shue, 80, of Talala, died Feb. 18, 2001. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 21 at First Baptist Church of Talala. Her children are Ron Shue of Talala and Beverly Corlett of Talala.

JOHN SNYDER
John Snyder, 67, of Oologah died Feb. 13, 2001. Private services are pending through Musgrove-Merriott-Smith.

EILEEN SMITH
Eileen A. Smith, 68, of Oologah, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the Rice Funeral Service Chapel in Claremore. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. Rice Funeral Service, 341-0376.

ROBERT HASSELL
Robert William "Bob" Hassell, Sr., 65, of Talala, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 in Talala. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oologah followed by interment in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Oologah Funeral Home.

LEONARD ELLIS
Leonard Ellis, 79, of Oologah died March 9, 2001. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17 at Collinsville Freewill Baptist Church.

JOE JOHNSTON
Joe Johnston, 57, of Chelsea died March 6, 2001. The Oologah High School graduate was a farmer/stockman and a member of Rabbs Creek Baptist Church. Services were held March 9.

BETTY RUTH HENDRICKS
Betty Ruth (Graves) Hendricks, 69, of Nowata, former Oologah School teacher, died Friday, October 19, 2001 at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Nowata's First Christian Church; interment in Fairview Cemetery in Talala under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata (toll-free at 1-888-273-8500).

CLETUS NOLAN WALKER
Cletus Nolan Walker, 86, of Gore, Okla., formerly of Oologah, died Sunday, October 14, 2001 in Muldrow, Okla. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at the Collinsville Funeral Home Chapel; burial in Fairview Cemetery at Talala under the direction of Collinsville Funeral Home (371-2516).
