PEGGY JO PROFFITT
Talala resident Peggy Jo Proffitt died July 1, 2003 in Tulsa at the age of 67. Proffitt enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Blue Grass music and being a grandmother. Survivors include husband Carl of the home; three sons, Patrick Ahlborn of Tulsa, Richard Maldonado of Sacramento, CA. and William Jenkins of Texas; four daughters, Diane Henley of Grove, Dixie Jo Gottula of Owasso, Carlene Kittrell of Collinsville and Shirlene Watashe of Collinsville; sister Mary Ann Sanchez of Modesto, CA, 15 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Services were held 10 a.m., Monday, July 7 at the Collinsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Watashe presiding. Interment followed at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Collinsville Funeral Home.

LINDA COOPER
Linda R. Cooper, 64, died Sept. 14, 2003 at Hennessey. She is the mother of Bill Cooper of Oologah. She was born in Tonkawa on Nov. 9, 1938 and married Leon Cooper in Oklahoma City on March 16, 1956. She is survived by her husband Leon of the home; two sons, Bill Cooper and wife Kim of Oologah; Steve Cooper of Enid; one daughter, Laura Cooper and husband Clarence Webber of Stillwater; and five grandchildren. Services were Wednesday, Sept. 17, at First Christian Church in Hennessey, with graveside services at Red Rock Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Cancer Care Clinic of Enid.

GRACE HARTMANN
Grace Marie Hartmann, 80, of Owasso died Sept. 13, 2003, in Tulsa. She was an insurance agent and a member of the Tulsa Chapter #133 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include sons Ronald Coop of Talala and James Coop of Tulsa, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services were held Sept. 16 at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso..

DARRELL RAY HUCHTEMAN
Darrell Huchteman, 64, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at his home in Grove. He graduated from Talala High School in 1958. He married Cathy Jo Webber on June 19, 1982 in Miami. As a heavy equipment operator, Darrell was involved in the construction of the Oologah Dam, Keystone Dam, Interstate Hwy 244 and many more landmarks and buildings in and around the Tulsa area. He lived in the area until he retired in 1999 and moved to Grove. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Jo Huchteman of Grove; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Thomason and Dana Ray Kitterman both of Oologah; two sons, Scott Alan Huchteman of Broken Arrow and Billy Jack Ashwood of Oologah; his mother Helen Virginia Germain; five grandchildren, Jason Ray Thomason of Oklahoma City, Jill Nicole Walker of Tulsa, Jesse Lee James Huchteman and Joshua Scott Alan Huchteman both of Broken Arrow and Kolton Lake Kitterman of Oologah. Memorial services were Saturday, Sept. 13 at First Baptist Church, Talala with Dr. Wayne Shaw and Rev. Lester Orwig officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association (Oklahoma Chapter). Arrangements were under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

VERNON PAUL WILLIAMS
Vernon Paul Williams, father of Pastor Ben Williams of Oologah United Methodist Church, died Sept. 12, 2003 at his home in Burnsville, MN. He was 86. He entered the Brown County Bar Association in 1941 and successfully practiced law in Aberdeen, SD for fifty years. Survivors include two sons, Paul Williams and wife Patty of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Ben Williams and wife Jeri of Oologah; two daughters Kay Klingman and husband Ron of Cohasset, Minn., and Sharon Wood of Apple Valley, MN; brother Allan Williams of Portland, Ore., ten grandchildren, including Rachel and Elizabeth Williams; and seven great-grandchildren. The family prefers memorials to the South Dakota School for the Blind. Arrangements were made through Miller-Huebel Funeral Home, Aberdeen, South Dakota.

ALBERT WAYNE SYFERT
Albert Wayne Syfert, 73, of Talala, died Nov. 29, 2003 in Tulsa. He had been a resident of Talala since 1956, coming from Tulsa. Syfert was retired from American Airlines. He was a member of Collinsville Church of the Nazarene and the VFW. Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home, three sons, Paul Hudson and wife Shirley of West Virginia, Harvey Reed and wife Brenda of Owasso and Michael W. Syfert and wife Delores of Grand Prairie, TX.; two step-sons, Bob Moore of Reynoldsburg, OH and Michael Moore of Columbus, OH.; one daughter, Susan Lay and husband Richard of Talala, four step-daughters, Cheryl Legg and husband Tom of Pinkerington, OH., Pat Garey and husband William of Glenford, OH., Jayne Woodruff and husband James Of Thornville, OH. and Pamela Miller and husband Chris of Powell, OH., 24 grandchildren and 19 and one-half great grandchildren. Services were to be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3 at Church of the Nazarene in Collinsville with Rev. Wayne Thomas presiding. Interment was to follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. Arrangements were made through Collinsville Funeral Home.

FRED RAYMOND DAVIN
Fred Raymond Davin, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003 in Talala. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala.

KENDICE RENE MACKEY
Kendice Rene Mackey passed on Nov. 12, 2003. She was born to Robert and Linda Mackey on March 18, 1990, in Burbank, CA. Kendice moved to Oologah when she was 9 months old and she attended Oologah-Talala Elementary School. Kendice loved reading to her younger sisters, and riding horses. Kendice is survived by her parents and her two loving sisters, Nicole Susan Mackey and Erica Beth Mackey. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday Nov. 21 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 South 129th East Ave., in Broken Arrow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Oologah-Talala Public School Foundation, P.O. Box 892, Oologah.

FRED WILLIAM BOETHIN
Fred William ``Bill'' Boethin of Oologah, 89, died Nov. 9, 2003. He served as chairman of the board of the Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District. He was born July 13, 1914 in Speed, KS and had been a resident of Oologah since 1968, coming from Tulsa. He was a member of Zion Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Bill's first job as a civil engineer was to help lay out the Ammunition Depot at McAlester. In 1955 Bill opened his own surveying business with offices in the Kennedy Building in Tulsa. Bill served as Secretary/Treasurer of Oklahoma Land Surveyors for five years. Survivors include wife Bonnie Faye Boethin of the home; two sons, Steve Boethin of Wichita Falls, TX and Barry Boethin and wife Suzie of Tulsa; two daughters, Judy Casper and husband Jim of McPherson, KS. and Sharon Boethin of Houston, TX.; three step daughters, Joan Kenady and husband Pat of Houston, Pamela Risto and husband Ron of San Diego, CA., and Patricia Boling of Tulsa; two sisters, Wilma Nelms of Krebs, OK and Gertrude York of Lamar, AR. and eight grandchildren, Matt Boethin, Brooke Boethin, Britt Boethin, Tyler Boethin, Jason Casper, Jana Casper, Mark Dill and China Boling. Funeral services were be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Priest presiding. Interment is at Wann Cemetery in Oologah. Arrangements were made through Oologah Funeral Home.

JOSHUA JOSEPH ZINGO
Joshua Joseph Zingo, 18, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident. Josh was born June 19, 1985 in Albuqueque, New Mexico and was a senior at Oologah High School. He played soccer on the high school team and for West Side Alliance Soccer Club. He is survived by his parents, Sandra and Jeff Zingo, two youngers sisters, Jessie and Alli, of Claremore; paternal grandparents, John and Jane Zingo of Martins Ferry, Ohio; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Naomi Gibson of Albuqueque, New Mexico; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom loved him dearly. Mass of the Christian Burial for Joshua Joseph Zingo was Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Claremore. Father Paul Eichhoff will officiate. Interment followed at St. Therese Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to the Josh Zingo Memorial Fund for the Oologah High School Soccer Program, c/o 1ST Bank Oklahoma, P. O. Box 888, Claremore, OK 74018.

ROBERT HERRING
Memorial services for Robert Alvin Herring, longtime Chelsea Reporter editor and publisher, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Chelsea. Arrangements are under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Services and Crematory. Herring, 73, died July 24, at St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa. Herring began work at the paper when he was five years old, and was a great supporter of the Chelsea community. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute to the Chelsea Public School Band Program, 206 E. 4th, Chelsea, OK 74016.

PAUL BRAZEAL
Paul Eugene Brazeal, 74, Collinsville, died Friday, July 9, 2004 at his home in Collinsville. He was a life-long Oologah area resident, and served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force. After his military career he was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Collinsville. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 at Rose Hill Community Church in Tulsa, with Rev. Charles Brazeal and Rev. Charles Jennings officiating; burial in Wann Cemetery, Oologah, under the direction of Collinsville Funeral Home.

LARRY “JOE” JENKINS
Larry “Joe” Jenkins, 59, of Oologah, passed away Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. Joe was born Jan. 26, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Green and Zida (Bryan) Jenkins. He grew up in Collinsville and later moved to Oologah. He served in the Army National Guard for 15 years. He was married for 13 years to Debbie Cooper of Oologah. Together they had one daughter, Jodi. Joe had his own dump truck business. He later went to work for Duit Construction Co., Inc., and worked for them for many years until his sudden death. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Jodi Graham and his granddaughter, Ashley Townsend, both of Oologah. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at Nick Reynolds Funeral Home in Collinsville. In lieu of a funeral the family will have a gathering of all his family, friends and coworkers. This will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 11531 S. 4050 Road, Talala. Come and share the memories and celebrate his life.

LINDA “NANNY” SUE FULTON
Linda “Nanny” Sue Fulton, 54, died Sept. 23, 2004. She is survived by her husband, Doyle; four sons, Tony Reeder, Stephen, Bruce and Brian Fulton; one daughter, Tracy Rice; eight grandchildren; two sisters and one brother. The service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Sept. 27, at A Glorious Fellowship, Collinsville, under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Service.

JANET PAYNE
Janet Mae Payne, 46, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in Claremore after a long illness. Janet is survived by a sister, Joann Johnston, of Talala; brother, Benny Robinson and wife, Karen of Talala; sister-in-law, Gwyen Ward of Oologah; four nephews; two nieces; four great nephews, three great nieces; a host of other loved ones and friends; and one dog, Missy Rae. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Payne; parents, Dewey and Betty Jo (Thomason) Robinson; two brothers, Harland and Garland Robinson; and one dog, Sweet Pea. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Liberty Freewill Church in Oologah. Interment followed at Wann Cemetery, Oologah.

BONNIE BOHNER DICK
Bonnie Bohner Dick, 61, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at her daughter’s home in Oologah after a courageous battle with cancer. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Harker and husband, Anthony of Oologah; son, Dr. David Dick and wife, Wendy of Broken Arrow; brother, Richard Bohner of San Antonio, TX; sister, Sharon Byers of Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren: Zachary Cox of Oologah, Michael Johnson of Broken Arrow, Brandon Brown of Sayre, and Rachel and Joshua Dick of Broken Arrow, and many loved ones and friends. Memorial service for Bonnie Bohner Dick were to be held at 11 a.m., Wed., Sept. 15, at the Church of the Holy Cross, Owasso, with Father Chris Waters officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory. MARTIN COONCE
Martin Donald Coonce, 51, of Claremore, died Aug. 27, 2004. Memorial services were held Sunday, Aug. 29, at Foyil First Assembly of God, under direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Sperry. The Rev. Jack DaMico officiated. Martin spent much of his life serving his country and community. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division from 1970 to 1974. After his military service, Martin served as a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper, and is also a former Rogers County Deputy Sheriff. He was also a truck driver for many years in addition to working as an instructor for the U.S. Truck Driving School. He also took an active role in his family’s RV Park near Oologah. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Claremore, Parents Lloyd and Julia Coonce of Claremore; three sons, Travis Coonce and wife Tara of Stillwater, Adam Coonce of Claremore and Jared Coonce of Owasso; one daughter, Rachel Coonce of Stillwater; and one step-daughter, Jodi Roberts of Missouri. Other survivors include one grandchild, Virginia Joy Coonce, one brother Chris Coonce and wife Beth of Drumright.

Alice Willson services set Friday
Alice Willson died Tuesday morning, Nov. 30, 2004, in Oklahoma City. She was the mother of Ken Willson of Claremore, a Pixley Lumber executive, Rogers County civic leader and Oklahoma State University alumni booster. Services for Alice Willson will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the May Avenue United Methodist Church, 2604 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City; burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation and other arrangements are pending. Services are under the direction of Guardian North Funeral Chapel, 405-752-9292.
