Randa Shai Sjoberg

Funeral services for the infant grandaughter of a Cromwell couple were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deer Creek Baptist Church.

Randa Shai Sjoberg, 2, died Wednesday in Oklahoma City.

Burial followed in the Prague Cemetery, and services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Rev. Rick Harrison officiated.

Sjoberg was born on July 14, 1995 in Shawnee. She was the daughter of Jeff and Cathy Sjoberg of Prague, and she attended Sunday School and church at Deer Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, L.B. and Velma Stewart, Sudie Koch, Cora Barrett and Earl Dowdy.

Survivors include her parents, one sister, Shyla Sjoberg of the home; maternal grandparents, Jack and Rozella Harrison of Prague; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Barbara Sjoberg of Cromwell and Cheryl Sjoberg of Cushing; paternal great-grandparents, Beulah and Archie Ingersoll and Rayburn Barrett, and several aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Hugh Smith

Hugh J. Smith, 75, died on Saturday in Shawnee. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee. Cliff Craig officiated. Burial followed at Schoolton Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Smith was born on June 13, 1922 in Micawber to Hugh Franklin and Lucy (Smalley) Smith. He married Martha Elizabeth Moody on June 13, l942 in Okemah. Following their marriage they moved to Moore and later moved to Johnson Community north of Shawnee. They also lived for a period in Seminole and have grandchildren now living in the area.

He retired from OG&E and was a member of Northridge Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by both parents, his wife on July 12, l994, one daughter, Reba Joyce Smith, a granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Roger H. Smith of Tecumseh and Gary W. Smith of Shawnee; three brothers, Lester Smith of Eufaula, Benny Smith of Independence, Kan., and Johnny Smith of Shawnee.

Other survivors include five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

The family requests that memorial be made to the Shawnee Hospice.

Sanford Stanley Stevens

Funeral services for Seminole resident, Sanford Stanley "Steve" Stevens, 86, are set for 4 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rev. Kevin Durand will officiate.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Stevens died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born in Cooch, Colo. On Feb. 15, 1911 to Wilbur Sheldon Stevens and Iva Pearl (Gay) Stevens. He lived most of his life in Seminole County.

On March 23, 1935, he married Evelyn Ruth VanBuskirk in Ponca City. She preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 1992.

Stevens retired from Continental Oil Company in 1972. He was a member of the Bowlegs Methodist Church.

He was an avid football fan, active in the senior citizens’ bowling league and enjoyed swimming.

Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters and one brother.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Burns, Jonesborn, Ark., Glenda Morgan, Lake Wales, Fla., and Mary Bullard, Earlsboro; three sisters, Helen Simmons, Guthrie, Doris Rumsey, Seminole, Eunice Sunderland, Modesto, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Steve Brown, Ronald Brown, Dr. Michael Morgan, Zack Morgan, Tyler Eddlemon, Bobby Davis, Neil Montgomery and Rodney Spivey.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Bowlegs Methodist Church or a charity of their choice.

Marvin Maurice Stewart

Marvin Maurice Stewart, 63, died on Monday in Seminole. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direciton of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Stewart was born May 26, l934 in Wewoka to William Otis Stewart and Gertrude (Halk) Stewart. He married Peggy Parson on Jan. 5, l960 in Ada.

He moved to Seminole nine years ago from Cromwell. He was a retired contractor. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of the home, two sons, Bill Johnson of Yukon and Dewayne Stewart of Seminole.

Other survivors include two brothers, Robert and Gene Stewart of Wewoka and one sister, June Stewart of Live Oak, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Casket bearers included Phillip Stewart, Adam Stewart, Joe Stewart, Mark Daniels, Frank Moore and Bruce Johnson. Honorary bearers include Bill Moore, Eddie McMancanis and Rick Brown.

Robert M. Stidham

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Robert Miller Stidham, 47, was scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Central Church of Christ at Moore.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Stidham died Tuesday in New York City, while on a business trip.

He was born March 15, 1950 in Seminole to Sara Lee (Morris) Stidham and Robert Roland Stidham. His father preceded him in death.

Stidham was a 1968 graduate of Wewoka High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Church of Christ. Stidham was director of development for In Depth Data of Oklahoma City.

On June 26, 1969 he married Audrey Young in Cromwell; she survives him of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Michael Stidham, currently stationed in Bosnia with the U.S. Army, two daughters, Michelle and Monica, both of the home; his mother Sara Stidham, formerly of Seminole and currently of Pawhuska, one brother, Danny Stidham, Enid, two sisters, Nancy Reeves, Seminole and Donna Wiggins, Choctaw; maternal grandparents, Floyd and Lucille Morris, Pawhuska, and one grandson.

Marvin Stitt

NORMAN - Funeral services for former Seminole County farmer Marvin Stitt, 79, were held Tuesday at the Riverside Church, Norman.

Interment services were scheduled for this morning in Hamilton, Kan., under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Stitt died last Friday in Conroe, Texas.

He was a native of Conway Springs, Kan., a graduate of Kansas State Veterinary College and a WWII veteran.

He operated a veterinary practice at the Oklahoma City Stockyards for 22 years until 1986. He owned and operating a farm near Seminole.

In 1986, he worked for the U.S.D.A. as a veterinary medical officer in meat inspection and in 1988 he moved to Hamilton, Kan, where he owned and operated a farm in Greenwood County.

Stitt is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth, of the home, three sons, Dan Stitt, Hamilton, Kan., John Stitt, Norman and Sam Stitt of Houston, Texas; two daughters Mary Stitt and Elizabeth Mobley, both of Conroe, Texas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

W. H. (Henry) Strawn

OKEMAH - Funeral services for W. H. (Henry) Strawn, father of Seminole County Court Clerk, Joyce Thomas, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church. Rev. Archie Bellar officiated, assisted by Ref. Jeff Manuel.

Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.

Strawn, 80, died Wednesday at the Creek Nation Community Hospital.

He was born Dec. 14, 1916 at Byers to Will and Ellen (Mullins) Strawn. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Opal Strawn and Faye Cheatwood.

On Jan. 2, 1947 he married LaVern Willoughby in Ada. She survives him of the home.

Strawn served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a surgical technician for 43 months. He was stationed overseas in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Award with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, one service stripe and seven overseas service bars.

He had resided in Okfuskee County for 44 years where he was a farmer and rancher. He attended the Assembly of God Church.

Other survivors include one son, Tedd Strawn, Okemah, three daughters, Joan Thomas, Okemah, Joyce Thomas, Wewoka and Kathy Painter, Okemah; three brothers, Walter Strawn and Earnest Strawn, both of Oregon, and Alfred Strawn, Waynette; three sisters, Ruth McCullar, Shawnee, Annie Johnson, Stratford and Alice Willoughby, Maysville; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Strawn’s grandsons, David Gregg, Clint Painter, Earl Strawn, W. H. Strawn, Justin Thomas and Terry Thomas.

Hazel Streets

Graveside services for Seminole resident Hazel Streets, 83, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Streets died Tuesday at Seminole Municipal Hospital.

She was born Oct. 2, 1913 in Viola, Ark., to Bert and Della Grisso. She moved to Seminole in 1922.

She graduated from Varnum High School in 1933, and she married Lyle W. Streets in 1940. He survives her of the home.

She worked for the Seminole County clerk’s office in Wewoka until she began working as a secretary for Seminole oil man and former mayor R.T. Harber.

Streets later worked as a legal secretary in the offices of Frank Seay from 1963 until her retirement at age 77.

Streets was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association and an active organizer of Varnum High School alumni affairs.

Streets is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Audy Grisso.

Other survivors include two sons, James Streets of Burke, Va., and Jerry Streets of Seminole; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
