Max Beshears

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Max Beshears, 82, are scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Home.

Rev. John Lively will officiate at the service.

Beshears died Friday, June 11, 1999 at his home north of Seminole.

He was born Oct. 8, 1916 in Arkansas to Harry and Josephine (Seagraves) Beshears.

A veteran, Beshears served as a private first class in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.

He retired in 1979 from National Steel Company, and was a member of Cheyarha Presbyterian Church.

Beshears married Willie Irene (Allen) Beshears on Feb. 7, 1941 near Wewoka. She survives him of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Robert Beshears, Richmond, Calif.; two sisters, Beatrice Wagner, and Joann Mattos, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Rosey Billings

Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Rosey Alice (Wescott) Billings, 84, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Bristow.

Rev. Bryce Gemmill will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Billings died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 in Shawnee.

She was born Dec. 12, 1914 in Bristow to Emery and Annie Wescott.

Reared in the Bristow area, Billings attended Old 44 Schools, and resided in Oregon and Texas before settling in Oklahoma in 1970.

She had lived in Eufaula, Wewoka and Stigler, then returned to Wewoka and Earlsboro, where she remained until her death.

She married Joe Billings on Nov. 27, 1929 in Bristow. He preceded her in death.

Billings was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, William Doyle Billings, two brothers, Arthur and Jim Wescott and two sisters, Sylvia Welch and Susan Lough.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Whitman, Earlsboro; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Stephen Bird

Funeral services for Seminole resident Stephen Wendell Bird, 37, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Bird died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center Hospital.

He was born July 21, 1961 in Oklahoma City to L.B. and Karen (Donohue, Gado, Bird) Hughes.

Bird moved to Seminole one year ago from Lawrence, Kan.

He was a member of the National Guard and the Jehovah Witness faith.

Bird was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Rebecca Bird and Christopher Bird.

Survivors include his father, of Tulsa, and his mother, of Seminole; two sons, Stephen Bird and John Bird, both of Seminole; three brothers, Sheldon Bird, Tulsa, Mike Bird, Shawnee and Jerry Bird, Independence, Mo.; and two sisters, Joy Bird, Independence, Mo., and Lorrie Purcell, Rockford, Ill.

Bessie Birdwell

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident, Bessie Birdwell, 85, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Rev. Wesley Martin will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the directions of Pickard Funeral Home.

Birdwell died Friday, March 26, 1999.

She was born March 2, 1914 in Konawa to Maloche Elizabeth Wood and Billie Wood.

She married James Birdwell in Konawa on March 31, 1938; he preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1975.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Thomas Birdwell.

Survivors include one daughter, Lucille Birdwell Castle, Eufaula, three sons, Charley Bowlegs, Canada, Roy Birdwell, Shawnee, and Tommy Birdwell, Tecumseh; one sister, Josephine Hines, Calif., 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Wesley Bishop

WEWOKA — Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Wesley Bishop, 71, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout Chapel.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Bishop died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999 in an automobile accident north of Wewoka.

He was born April 12, 1928, the 10th of 11 children of Joseph Eugene Bishop and Maggie Alice Bishop.

Bishop was raised in Sasakwa and attended Sasakwa school.

He moved to Texas where he met and married Shirley Bullington; they settled in Florence, Ore.

Bishop worked for U.S. Plywood Lumber Mill for 20 years until his retirement in 1975.

He returned to Wewoka until moving to Wetumka in 1997.

He raised fighting roosters and developed a new breed. He also developed and raised a breed of dog that was known for protecting the roosters.

He enjoyed life and knew how to have fun. Bishop was very supportive of his children and family and was always there when he was needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John Wesley Upshaw, Claude Upshaw, Wiford Upshaw, Jack Bishop; and his sister, Vessie Bishop.

Survivors are one daughter, Elizabeth Diess, Scappoose, Ore., two sons, Joseph Wesley Bishop, Wetumka, and David Ross Bishop, Holdenville; three brothers, Robert Bishop, Sweethome, Ore., Joe Berry Bishop and Walter "Red" Bishop, both of Wewoka, and Ed Bishop, Bakersfield, Calif.; and one sister, Mamie Phillips, Klamath Falls, Ore.

Other survivors are seven grandchildren, Sarah and Amie Diess of Scappoose, Ore., Gordon Joseph Bishop, Reno, Nev., Lucas David Bishop, Eugene, Ore., Jeffery Wesley Bishop, Washington, D.C. and Melissa Elizabeth Bishop and David Lawrence Bishop, both of Holdenville; and three great-grandchildren, De-vinne Elizabeth Lee and Robert Dean Lee, both of Scappoose, Ore., and Stephen Lucas Bishop, Eugene, Ore.

Pallbearers are Ron Diess, Luke Bishop, David Bishop, Robbie Bishop, Bobbie Bishop and R.L. Bishop.

Dallas Blackwood

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Dallas Andrew Blackwood, 82, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Blackwood died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 in Konawa.

He was born May 3, 1917 in Nashville, Tenn., to Sallie Virginia Aylor and Andrew Jackson Blackwood.

He had lived most of his life in the Konawa area.

Blackwood was married to Cleo Blackwood on Dec. 31, 1937 in Konawa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1 of this year.

Survivors include four children, Alice Jackson, Sue Hill, Albert Blackwood, all of Moore, and Linda Malone, Harrah; one sister, Estelle Sutton, Mississippi; one brother, G.C. Blackwood, Konawa; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are listed as grandchildren.

Cleo Blackwood

Funeral services for Konawa resident Cleo Mildred Blackwood, 80, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pickard Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Blackwood died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999 in Ada.

She was born Nov. 24, 1918 in Konawa to Willie and Dee Alan Turnbow.

A lifelong Konawa resident, Blackwood was a member of the Konawa Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was married to Andrew Blackwood Dec. 31, 1927 in Konawa. He survives her of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Alice Jackson and Sue Hill, both of Moore, and Linda Malone, Harrah; one son, Albert Blackwood, Moore; one brother, William Turnbow, Konawa; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bill G. Blair

Funeral services for Bill G. Blair, 63, brother of a Seminole woman, were held today in Eureka Spring, Ark., under the direction of Nelson Funeral Services.

Blair died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, in his home in Eureka Springs.

He was born July 9, 1935 in Coweta to Olin Blair and Vida (Elrod) Blair.

On Aug. 20, 1955, he married Carole Ring; she survives him of the home in Eureka Springs.

Other survivors include two sons, Jody Blair and James W. Blair, both of Eureka Springs; two daughters, Cheryl Rushing, Meeker and Jeannia Angeles, Goldsby; one brother, William Blair, Shonto, Ariz.; four sisters, Pauline Cross, Seminole, Maxine Morris, Coweta, Nellie Herbert, Tyler, Texas and Berniece Joice, Tulsa; seven grand children and six great-grandchildren.

Donald Blair

OKLAHOMA CITY - Funeral services for Donald Blair, 79, brother of Cromwell resident Mildred Lindley, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at South Colonial Chapel.

Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at Eakly Cemetery in Eakly under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary, Oklahoma City.

Blair died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999.

He was a veteran, serving in the US Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He later retired from Tinker Air Force Base.

Blair was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Chambers Blair; one brother, Archie Blair, Jones; and two sisters, Mildred Lindley, Cromwell, and Pauline Firquain, Blythe, Calif.
