William Johnson

Funeral services for William Curtis "Bill" Johnson, 85, brother of a Maud resident, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks.

Rev. John Orr will officiate at the service. Burial is under the direction of Parks Brother Funeral Chapel, Meeker.

Johnson died Sunday, April 18, 1999 in Chandler.

He was born March 4, 1914 in Sardis, Miss., to James Walter and Tennessee Missouri (Rickard) Johnson.

He worked in the trucking operations around the Meeker area, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meeker.

Johnson was preceded in death by his two wives, Mary and Luella, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Don Johnson, Choctaw, Billy Johnson, Wanette, and Steve Johnson, Stillwater; daughters, Grace Allen, Tecumseh, May Locke, Broken Arrow, Mary Liggitt, Tulsa, Sheri Patterson, Meeker, Wilma Johnson, Moore, and Lori Acord, Edmond; three brothers, Dave Johnson, Maud, Calvin Johnson, Exford, Miss., and Marshall Johnson, California; two sisters, Couise Coller, Kingfisher and Fredia Kirz, Oklahoma City and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

L.C. Johnson

Funeral services for Wewoka resident L.C. Johnson, 78, were held today at Stout Funeral Home Chapel.

Earnest Harrison Jr., and N.R. Smith officiated at the service. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Johnson died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1999 at Southwest Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 19, 1921 in McAlester to Norman and Arizona (Davis) Johnson.

Johnson was raised in the McAlester-Gaines Creek area and attended school in Krebs.

A veteran, he served in the US Army infantry during World War II.

Johnson worked in the oilfield between 1947 and 1963, then owned and operated Johnson’s Dairy Cup in Wewoka until 1981.

He was a longtime active member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka.

He married Ruth Thomas on Aug. 10, 1946 in Ada. She survives him of the home.

Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Annabelle Johnson, and one brother, Luther Doyle Johnson.

Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis and Cyndy Johnson, Durl and Sue Johnson, and Kenneth and Lori Johnson; one daughter and son-in-law, Wynema and John Kirby; three sisters, Audie Bryant and her husband, Wayne, Bea Smith and Norma Jean Clark and her husband, Oliver.

Also surviving him are eight grandchildren, Shawna and Kim Johnson, Swade and Lisa Johnson, Faith and Colby Humble, Boone Smith, Colton Johnson, Erika and Shane Findley and Tennille and Mike Taylor; and three great-grandchildren, Dalton Findley and Cailin and Madisyn Taylor.

Lois Johnson

Lois Bailey Johnson, 90, was born Jan. 24, 1908 in Vernon, Texas, and died Jan. 8, 1999 while visiting her sister in Seminole.

Lois was over a fifty-year resident of Kilgore, Texas. She moved to Kilgore in 1930 with her husband, William Ocie Johnson.

True to her entrepreneurial spirit, she opened and maintained Lois’ Sweet Shop from the 1950’s until the late 1970’s.

Her expertise in creating wedding cakes brought her fame, and kept her baking from her home well after the closing of her retail store.

Lois was fiercely loyal to family, and actively participated in their care throughout her life. She left Kilgore in 1981 to live with her son, but did not sell her home at 812 Carlisle until 1997. He desire to return to Kilgore never truly ended.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Luther and Pearl Bailey, Her brothers, Herschel and Shady Bailey and her son, Billy Jack Johnson.

She is survived by her sister, Daphine Brewer, Seminole; two grandchildren, Andrea Jaksa, Desoto, Texas, and Melissa Johnson, Dallas, Texas, and their families; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Jaksa and Cameron Johnson Wright.

She is also survived by her four nieces and their families.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Kilgore Cemetery, Kilgore, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

William ‘Jack’ Johnston

Funeral services for Konawa resident William "Jack" Boyd Johnston, 64, are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konawa.

Father Mathew Brown, OSB, will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Johnston died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999.

He was born Feb. 16, 1935 in Konawa to Lorena (Boyd) and Elmer Johnston.

An oilfield worker, Johnston moved to Kansas for a while before moving back to the Konawa area in 1992.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and AmVets as a veteran of the US Army.

He married Karen Johnston in Lyons, Kan., on Feb. 4, 1982. She survives him of the home.

Other survivors include one daughter, Sara Marie Johnston, Konawa; one son, Steve Johnston, Konawa; two stepsons, Gregory Allen, Oklahoma City and Stacy Allen, Oxford, Miss.; one sister, Glenda Buck, Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers are listed as Gerald Reeves, Dave Green, Kevin Buck, George Winters, Jerry McGraw and Glen McGraw.

Hazel Jolley

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Hazel Faye Jolley, 92, are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Burial is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

She died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999 at her home in Davis.

Jolley was born Oct. 21, 1907 to Louis Madison Gates and Jenny Gwinn Gates; they preceded her in death.

She married Delbert Jolly who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother.

She is survived by one son, Glen Jolley, Monahans, Texas and two sisters, Clara Bryan, Etiwanda, Calif., and Vera Troutman, Rialto, Calif.

Gary Jolly

Funeral services for Seminole native Gary Jolly, 51, were held today at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh.

Rev. Jimmy Harness officiated at the service. Burial followed at Brown Cemetery.

Jolly died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 in Shawnee.

He was born March 12, 1947 in Seminole to Kenneth Lacy and Nova Frances (Jordan) Jolly.

He moved from Del City to Tecumseh in 1960, and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1965.

A veteran, Jolly served in the US Navy during Vietnam, serving in Guam and Okinawa.

He was employed as a machinist at Central Plastics for 18 years.

Jolly was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his brothers, Randy Jolly, Tecumseh, Danny Jolly, Pauls Valley and Ken Jolly, also of Tecumseh.

Charles Jones

Funeral services for lifelong Earlsboro resident Charles Douglas "C.D." Jones, 71, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Jones died Thursday, May 27, 1999 at Veterans Home in Talihina.

He was born Oct. 27, 1927 in Skiatook to Verrell "V.V." and Billie (Williamson) Jones.

A veteran, he served in the US Navy, and was a member of the VFW and DAV.

Jones retired from the oilfields.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Deloris Jones in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Charles B. Jones, Shawnee and Donald D. Jones, Sulphur; one daughter, Brenda J. Lewis, Whitesboro, Texas; two brothers, Kenneth Jones, St. Louis, Mo., and Blain Jones, Little; one sister, Judy Smith, Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Jones

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident and former Wewoka Police Chief Jimmy Leon Jones, 52, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sasakwa Assembly of God Church.

Rev. Wesley Martin will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Jones died Friday, July 30, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1947 in Sasakwa to Woodrow Wilson Jones and Lorene Crosby Jones.

Jones attended Sasakwa Schools, where he graduated high school.

A veteran of the US Army, he worked in law enforcement for several years, serving as Chief of Police in Wewoka and Sasakwa.

He joined the police force in Wewoka in 1973, climbing to the rank of chief in July, 1979.

Jones served for a short time as police chief in Sasakwa.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jones, of the home; one son, Jimmy Jones Jr., Sasakwa; three stepsons, James Hudson, Tony Hudson, and Sidney Hudson, all of Moore; one foster son, Marlon Callahan, Ada.

Other survivors include three brothers, Ronnie Jones, Sasakwa, Steve Jones, Sallisaw, and Robert Jones, Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
