Gary Smith

Funeral services for Gary Dean Smith, 57, Shawnee, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Patrick E. Bright will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at the Tecumseh Mission under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Smith died Wednesday, June 23, 1999 at the scene of a traffic accident at 7:15 a.m. two miles north of Seminole State College on SH 3.

He was born Aug. 4, 1941 in Laverne to J.P. Smith and Georgia Smith.

Smith was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, having joined in 1959.

He worked in Seminole for L & M Auto and Truck Repairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Terry Smith, Leedy; four daughters, Paula Gage, Oklahoma City, Kay Kirby, Mangum, Dawn Smith, Oklahoma City and Misti Cearlock, Elk City; four brothers, Joe Smith, Oklahoma City, Bill Smith, Clinton, Don Smith, Boles, Ark., and Ted Smith, Fontana, Calif.; and two grandson.

James Smith

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, James L. Smith, 76, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Fred Morrison will officiate at the services. Burial will follow t Little Cemetery.

Smith died Sunday, April 11, 1999 at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.

He was born March 11, 1923 in Newblain, Ark., to Carl and Ethel (Jones) Smith.

A veteran, he served in the US Army during World War II.

Smith retired from the city of Oklahoma City in 1965 and was a member of the Seminole Masonic Lodge.

He married Wanda (Williams) Smith in 1989 in Seminole. She survives him of the home.

Smith was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Mary L. Smith on Sept. 12, 1997.

Other survivors include three daughters, Pat Wright, Tulsa, Leona Rose, Ola, Ark., and Mary Black, Seminole; and three sisters, Margie Sue Dooms, Tucson, Ariz., Betty Jones, Winneboro, Texas and Wanda Ackerman, Hemet, Calif.

Mable Smith

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Mable Florence Smith, 87, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church.

Rev. Doyle Long will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Smith died Saturday, June 19, 1999 at Pioneer Nursing Home.

She was born Dec. 1, 1911 in Seminole County to Clyde and Ellie (Chandler) Logan.

A homemaker, Smith was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was married to Lester M. Smith; he preceded her in death on Sept. 9 1968.

Also preceding her in death were one son, L.C. Smith, one brother, Delbert Logan and three sisters, June Gibbs, Marie Azline and Pearl Azlin.

Survivors are one son, Glenn Smith, Maud; four daughters, Verna Dice and Betty Casey, both of Seminole, Wanda Joyner, Perryton, Texas, Donna Hayes, Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Zella Smith

Graveside services for Wewoka resident Zella Smith, 97, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery.

N.R. Smith will officiate at the service. Interment is under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Smith died Friday, July 2, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.

She was born March 11, 1902 in Quinton to Ben H. and Fannie (Webber) Cook.

Reared in Boonville, Ark., she came to Seminole at age 17.

Smith was admitted to Wewoka Nursing Center on Jan. 1, 1996, and remained a resident until her death.

She was a member of the Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church, Wewoka.

She married William Anderson Smith in McAlester. He preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Mulester "Buster" Cook.

Survivors are listed as two nieces, Sybil Conley, Wewoka and Sylvia Moye, Allen.

Kathryn Sneed

Funeral services for Seminole resident Kathryn (Woodfork) Sneed, 78, were held Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church.

Rev. Larry Crawford officiated at the service. Burial followed at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Sneed died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa.

She was born Feb. 10, 1921 in McIntosh County to Sam and Lela (Frazier) Woodfork.

A homemaker, Sneed was a member of Galilee Baptist Church, Missionary Society, and was on the Sunday School Usher Board and the church choir.

She was married to J.L. Sneed; he preceded her in death.

Sneed was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Jackie Brown and one brother.

Survivors include one brother, Henry Woodfork, Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Rosetta Striblen, Tulsa; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Joyce Snodgrass

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Joyce Marie Snodgrass, 68, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Grove Chapel.

Rev. Allen Wood will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Snodgrass died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999 at her home.

She was born Oct. 15, 1930 in Wewoka to James Ray Snodgrass and Erma (Grogg) Turner.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1947.

A homemaker, Snodgrass was a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1978.

Survivors are her mother, of Seminole, and one sister, Billie Smith, also of Seminole.

Honorary pallbeares are listed as Wallace Minnick and Bob Webster.

Nora Snow

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Nora Lee Snow, 80, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Twin Oaks Baptist Church. Interement will follow at Little Cemetery.

Frank Hester will officiate at the services. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Snow died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center Hospital.

She was born Jan 1, 1919 in Seminole to John and Mary Morrison Byers.

A farmer and housewife, Snow was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church and the Seminole Chapter #452 of Eastern Star.

She married Orvil Snow Dec. 1, 1951 in Seminole. He preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1985.

Snow was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sisters, Ada Byers, Seminole, and Mollie Thomas, Bakersfield, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, including Jack Davis and Rick Davis, both of Seminole, Judy Keys, Maud, and Pam Daniel, Oklahoma City.

Kenneth Speer Sr.

Graveside services for Seminole resident Kenneth Garland Speer Sr., 79, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum.

Rev. Allen Wood will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Speer died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 26, 1919 in Tinsman, Ark. to George and Ollie (Williams) Speer.

A veteran, he served in the US Navy during World War II and was at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Speer was the president and general manager of Independent Tank Company, until his retirement after 40 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge.

He was married to Dorothy Pauline Speer on Aug. 4, 1940 in Oilton. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1998.

Speer was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Speer Jr., Henryetta and Robert Speer, Atoka; four grandchildren, Kenneth Speer III, Todd L. Speer, Robin Self and Kelly Richards; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Self, Jarrett Self and Zachery Speer; and one sister, Hazel Jane Meyers, Seminole.

Casket bearers are listed as Kenneth Speer Jr., Bob Speer, Todd Speer, Kenneth Speer III, Gerald Pickett, Jeff Self and Cory Richards.

Honorary bearers include Curtis Loftis and Billy Joe Loudermilk.
