Jean Graves

Funeral services for Seminole native Jeanne Yvonne Cline (Graves) are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2001 at the Good News Church in Yukon, with the Rev. Tom Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery, Seminole, under the direction of Smith and Turner Mortuary, Yukon. Graves died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 in Piedmont at the age of 53. She was born to James and Dorothy Cline on March 1, 1948 in Seminole. Graves was a 1968 graduate of Seminole High School, and had been living in Piedmont for the last 13 years, coming for Oklahoma City. She married David Graves on March 1, 1948 in Wewoka. Graves was a daycare worker at First Baptist Church Daycare in Piedmont. She was preceded in death by her father. Graves is survived by her husband, David, of the home; her mother, Dorothy Cline, Seminole; one son, Russell Graves, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Davita Graves, Oklahoma City; one brother, Richard Cline, Seminole; one sister, Sharon Palmer, Wewoka; and four grandchildren.

Willie Dansby

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Willie Were Dansby are scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at Criswell Chapel in Ada. Rev. Leo Streater will officiate. Interment is set to follow at Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home. Dansby died Wednesday at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 83. He was born March 6, 1918 in Durant to Willie and Ola Mae Dansby. He was employed with Ideal Cement Company in Ada and retired in 1980 after 35 years of service. Dansby married Katherine Summers who preceded him in death. In November of 1978 he married Zella Heard. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Richard Heard; two brothers, Walter Dansby and Jake Dansby; and one sister, Opal Manning. Dansby is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Willie Dansby and Paul Dansby, both of Byng; one daughter, Phyllis Sharpe, Del City; two stepsons, Buddy Heard and Ronnie Heard, both of Wewoka; one stepdaughter, Joyce Parker, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Earl Dansby, Bossier City, La., and Jack Dansby, Norman; two sisters, Vera Mae Burkhart, Stratford, and Polly Burkhead, Norman; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Diane Simpson

Funeral services for Seminole resident Diane Carter Simpson are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church in Wewoka. Revs. Fred Morrison and Jimmy Moreland will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Simpson died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at Midwest City Regional Hospital at the age of 44. She was born to George Washington Conley II and Florene (Osborne) Carolina on Nov. 3, 1956 in Wewoka. Simpson lived in Seminole for 41 years, moving here from Wichita, Kan. She was a certified Med Aide, certified CNA, and foot reflexologist. Simpson was an ordained minister, Sunday school teacher, and head cook at New Lima Schools for 13 years. She was a member of the Lords Community Church in Seminole. Simpson was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her father; her husband, J.C. Simpson, of the home; one son, Broc Carter, Shawnee; one daughter, Karla Carter, Oklahoma City; three brothers, Anthony Conley, Sr., Midwest City, George Conley III, Wichita, Kan., and Shane Austin, Stockton, Kan; three sisters, Dr. Vickie Carter, Seminole, Mary Andrews, Seminole, and Kristi Rittenhower, Wichita, Kan.; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers are Anthony Conley Jr., Brian Harjo, Claude Thompson, Bruce Carter, Curtis Andrews and Johnny Andrews. Honorary pallbearers were James Simpson, Hayword McGregor, Johnny Meeks, Jimmy Moreland, Zelvin Nichols and Marvin Nichols.

William Pope

Graveside services for Wewoka resident William Ray Pope were held at 10 a.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Factor officiated the services. Pope died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001 at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 71. He was born to Noel and Judy (Sexton) Pope on Dec. 31, 1929 in Quinton. Pope was reared and educated in the Quinton area. He entered the United States Navy in 1953, and was stationed in Washington. After serving in the Korean War, Pope was discharged from the Navy and remained in the Washington area for a number of years, then moving to Wetumka and then Wewoka in 1996. Pope was a resident of the Elmwood Nursing Home in Wewoka. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Paul Pope, Embery Pope, Alfred Pope, and Leroy Pope; and four sisters, Millie Anderson, Lizzie Janes, Sue Amos, and Frances Harrison. Pope is survived by one sister, Mattie Starr, Wewoka.

Bessie Stark

Private family services are scheduled for Seminole resident Bessie Juanita Stark. Stark died this morning at Pioneer Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Howe to Thomas Musick. She married Porter E. Stark Jan. 30, 1943 in Nevada. Stark was a homemaker and moved to Seminole from Washington in 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, of the home; one son, Oscar Stark, Seminole; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Manley, Oklahoma City.

James Holland

Graveside funeral services for former Seminole resident James Holland are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Rev. Vern Sundberg will officiate. Holland died Sunday at his home in Big Rapids, Mich. He was born Nov. 6, 1956 in Hammand, Ind. to Billy Holland and Betty Jean Yadon. Holland married Erica Robinson on Oct. 18, 1995 in Coffeyville, Kans. He was a painter and served in the U.S. Army. Holland was a member of the Church of Christ in Sedan, Kans. He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Holland; and one sister, Ulafaye Zimmer. He is survived by his parents, Betty and Art Yadon, Sedan, Kans., and Bill and Ruth Holland, Dover, Ark.; his wife, Erica Holland, of the home; five sons, Jacob and Isaiah Holland, of the home; Richard and Stephen Holland, Lake Station, Ind., and Jeremiah Holland, Dardanelle, Ark.; two daughters, Jean Ann Burger, Big Rapids, Mich., and Rebecca Musgrove, Evansville, Ind.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Randy Holland, LaPorte, Ind., Ronald Holland, Portage, Ind., and Tim Yadon, Independence, Kans.; two sisters, Brenda Collins, Bakersfield, Calif., and Becky Holland, Cedar Vale, Kans.; four step-children, Brian Short, Sedan, Kans., Marie Kingman, Bicknell, Ind., Amy Wright, Portage, Ind., and Andrea Garcia, Mesa, Ariz.; and one step-brother, Shayne Anderegg, Shreveport, La.

Connie Jo Brinsfield

A memorial service for Seminole resident Connie Jo Brinsfield is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Brinsfield died at her home in Seminole Sunday. She was born Nov. 21, 1950 in Santa Claire, Calif. She was a clerk at Willis Quick Stop. Brinsfield was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Mack Brinsfield; her parents; and one brother, Bobby Godwin. She is survived by two sons, Eric Brinsfield, Seminole, and Anthony Brinsfield, Lawton; one brother, James Godwin, Midwest City; and two sisters, Rosie Godwin, Utah, and Judy Godwin, Tamp, Fla.

Judy Turner

Funeral services for Wewoka native Judy Sharon Turner are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Capital Heights Baptist Church in Holdenville. Rev. Dennis Tate and Rev. Jim Crawford will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, under the direction of Stout Funeral Home. Turner passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001 in Redlands, Calif., at the age of 55. She was born to Clarence and Dana “Bradley” Morrison on Dec. 1, 1945 in Wewoka. Turner was raised in the Wewoka area and attended school at Butner. She later attended East Central University and attained a bachelor’s degree in teaching and education and later attained a double master’s degree. Turner taught school in Broken Bow, Centrahoma, and Coalgate. She had been active helping the Extension Homemakers with the Little Bears program. Turner was a Sunday school teacher, mother, wife, and granny, who liked to sew, play piano, work with crafts, and play tennis and bingo. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Turner is survived by her husband, Doil Turner, of the home; one daughter, Gina Thompson, Duncan; one son Tim Thompson, one daughter-in-law, Cathy Thompson; two grandchildren, Jacob Thompson and Ethan Thompson, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Tom and wife Debbie Morrison, Muskogee; and numerous other relatives.

Hazel Hubbard

Funeral services for Seminole resident Hazel Mary Hubbard are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel at First Baptist Church of Seminole. Rev. Glen Pence will officiate and will be assisted by Dr. Kelvin Moseley. Interment is scheduled to follow at 2 p.m. at Tulsa Memorial Park under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Hubbard died Friday at her home in Seminole at the age of 90. She was born in Tulsa Feb. 11, 1911 to George and Hazel Ward. She married Trenton Omar Hubbard on Sept. 17, 1929 in Seminole. Hubbard worked at Sylvania Electric for nine years as a technician and retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 13 years of service. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, H.L. Hubbard and Morgan Ward; and two sisters, Maud Dupree and Cleo Gilmore. Hubbard is survived by two sons, Jack Hubbard of Canyon Lake, Texas; and William “Bill” Hubbard of Seminole; and seven grandchildren. Casket bearers will be lady friends of Hubbard. Honorary bearers include Jill Hubbard and Bea Blum.
