Ercy Gaines

Funeral services for Ercy DeEster "Johnson" Gaines, sister of Lima residents Wilzetta and Carolyn Edwards, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Galileo Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Rev. Richard Laskey will officiate the services.

Interment will follow at Grayson Cemetery in Konawa, under the direction of Temple and Sons Funeral Directors, Inc. of Oklahoma City.

Gaines died Thursday, July 25, 2002.

She was born to Ercy and Sylvia Johnson on June 29, 1957 in Shawnee.

Gaines attended Earlsboro High School where she graduated in 1975.

After graduating, she moved to Shawnee where she worked for several years at Worthing Pump.

At an early age Gaines joined the White Chapel C.M.E. Church in Earslboro.

She married Larry Gaines in 1978 in Shawnee.

Gaines was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; one sister, Helen McCrimmon; and two brothers, Authur Lee and Willie Leroy Johnson.

She is survived by one daughter, LeKeisha Johnson; one son, Jason Jerome Johnson, Vinita; five sisters, Louise Hishaw, Shawnee, Willzetta Edwards and Carolyn Edwards, both of Lima, Donna Talton, Shawnee, and Etta Lewis, Shawnee; one brother, Ernest Johnson, Las Vegas, Nev.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Ernest Edwards, Bryant Edwards, Juice Edwards, Micheal Edwards, Kevin King, and Travorzea Kennedy.

Honorary bearers are Kenneth Edwards, Albert Hishaw, Ed Carr, Sammy Joe Edwards, Monty Lewis, and Donald Carr.

Marshall Gaines

Graveside funeral services for Marshall Odell Gaines were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Gaines died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at his home at the age of 70.

He was born July 29, 1932 in Sasakwa to Lodus and Pearl Hailey Gaines.

He was a veteran of the Korean War from 1949 to 1953.

Gaines married Betty Glover in 1957.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Lodus and Pearl Gaines Betty Glover Gaines in 1957.

He is survived by two sons, Roger Dale of Holdenville and Ronnie Don of Seminole; two daughters, Teresa Alexadrana of Oklahoma City and Lisa Roger of Holdenville; seven siblings, Doris Spurill of Allen, Margie Dodd of Wewoka, Betty Cook of Eufaula, Belva Krause of Bowlegs, Eddie Gaines of Springville, Texas, Jerry Gaines of Holdenville, and Jimmy Gaines of Moore; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ollie Gaines

Funeral services for Seminole resident Ollie Luevada Trout Gaines were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stout Funeral Home Chapel in Wewoka.

Revs. Russell Ryker and Allen Wood officiated the services.

Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Gaines died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 at the age of 96.

She was born to Jasper Rice Trout and Dorinda Arabell Sanders Trout on Dec. 24, 1905 near Konawa.

Gaines grew up in the Sasakwa-Konawa area at Rocky point and was a hard worker from a young age, cooking for her father’s sawmill workers at the age of seven.

She loved cooking, sewing, embroidering, and taking care of her family.

Gaines loved to have visitors and she would plant things for other people so she could give it to them.

She married Homer Lee Gaines on Dec. 3, 1922 and they moved to the Wewoka area in 1935.

Gaines attended Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church; and cooked at Hilltop School west of Wewoka for many years.

At the time of her death, Gaines was a resident of Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 8, 1971; her parents; one son, Herman O. Gaines; one daughter, Doris M. Gaines; and was the last of her brothers and sisters, Verna, Elsie, Roxy, Charlie, Dora, Liza, Bud and Jess.

Gaines is survived by four sons, Hulen R. Gaines, Wewoka, Truman J. Gaines, Seminole, Bobby D. Gaines, Henryetta, and Lee Gaines, Garland, Texas; 14 grandchildren, one of whom, Karen Low Alice, she raised, 29 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Mike Gaines, Larry Alice, George Fain, Russell Fain, Rocky Edwards, and Tim Walden.

Honorary bearers are Steve Butterfield, Shayne Walden, Jared Walden, and Brock Edwards.

Adolph Garfield

A private family graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Harrison-Tiger family cemetery in Seminole County.

Rev. H.P. Bradshaw officiated.

The service was under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Garfield was born and died on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Zachariah Harrison.

He is survived by his mother, Jessica Harrison of Wewoka and his fahter, Adolph L. Garfield of Shawnee; one sister, Iesha Harrison; three half-brothers, DeAngell Garfield, Monterio Garfield, and Kyle Wayne Garfield; grandparents, Wanda and Willie Bruner of Wewoka and H.P. and Dee Bradshaw of Shawnee.

Albert Gentry

HOUSTON, TEXAS – Funeral services for Albert Gentry, the brother of a Seminole resident, were scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Long Point Baptist Church.

Burial was to follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

Gentry died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002 at the age of 92.

He was born July 30, 1909 in Nelson to Samuel Jackson and Mery Etta Gentry.

He married Laidene Allen on May 18, 1939 in Shawnee.

Gentry was employed for 25 years with Gulf Oil Corporation in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Illinois.

He and his wife moved to Houston following his retirement.

He was an employee of Wagner Hardware there for 10 years.

Gentry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lela McMullin and Betty Linn; and six brothers, Leonard Gentry, Oscar Gentry, Roy Gentry, Clinton Gentry, Clyde Gentry and Howard Gentry.

He is survived by two daughters, Geneva June Gentry of Houston, Texas and Arlene Varner of Sugar Land, Texas; three sisters, Ruby Winn of Seminole, Velma Crews of Chandler, and Bessie Kidwell of Napa, Calif.

Memorial donations may be made to Long Point Baptist Church, or any Meals-on-Wheels or Food Bank Program.

Doyle George

Graveside services for former Wewoka resident Doyle Lloyd George, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Services will be under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Rev. Larry Chesser will officiate.

George died Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Midwest Regional Hospital in Midwest City at the age of 79.

He was born to Wade and Gladys Reich George on March 5, 1923 in Danville, Ark.

George was reared in the Yeager community and attended Holdenville schools, graduating from Holdenville High School in 1942.

He attended Oklahoma A&M until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II.

George returned to Oklahoma and worked as an inventory specialist at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Hester Outland; his parents; one great-granddaughter, Derian George; and one sister, Sue Wiggins.

George is survived by five children, Lisa Jones, Del City, James Scott George, Midwest City, Phillip George, Midwest City, and John and Greg George, both of Jonesboro, Ark.; and one brother, Bill George, Midwest City.

Homer ‘Gene’ Glover

Funeral services for Homer "Gene" Glover are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church.

Dr. Kelvin Moseley is set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Glover died Friday, April 5, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 77.

He was born March 24, 1925 in Konawa to James Augustus and Carrie (Kidd) Glover.

He married Vivaree "Vi Virginia (Davis) Glover on June 14, 1947 in Konawa.

Glover was an electrician and plumber.

He was employed at Seminole Hospital for 11 years and then Creek Nation Hospital for 11 years in the Hospital Engineering Department.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Glover was a radioman third class and served in the South Pacific during World War II.

He received a Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with three stars, Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with two stars.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Seminole where he was a Deacon.

Glover was a Scout Master in Stroud.

He received his delayed High School Diploma this past year during a special ceremony for veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and six sisters.

Glover is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Gary Gene Glover of Edmond and one daughter, Sheri Swanda of Newalla.

Casket bearers are Jack Reynolds, Normal Waddell, Dr. Brendan O’Keeffe, James "Dub" Childers, Danny Khoury, Dale Nichols, Norman Carpenter, and Randy Allison.

Honorary bearers are the Tom Rammage Men’s Bible Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Deacons of First Baptist Church, Andy Anderson, Mike Deatherage, Vernon Rutherfod, and Alan Mui.
