John Kirk

A memorial services for John Howard Kirk is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Indianola Cemetery.

Billy D. Kirk is set to officiate.

Kirk died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 at Oklahoma University Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 84.

He was born Oct. 1, 1917 in Indianola to John and Bessie Kirk.

He married Nerina Harrelson in 1937.

Kirk and his wife moved to Wewoka in 1956 from Indianola.

She preceded him in death in 1977.

He then married Gyloise "Lois" Cordell Castoe in 1979.

Kirk was a member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years.

He was a veteran of World War II and was discharged as a seaman first class.

He served on the United States Navy Fuel Tanker 070.

Kirk was a member of the American Legion Post 204 for over 55 years and a volunteer at the Heritage House.

While in Wewoka, he was a butcher at Muir’s Quick Meal Steaks and later at Redbud Food Center.

He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Coleta Bise of Wewoka and Judy McConnel of Lawton; three stepdaughters, Ruby Raper of Maud, Flo Hill of Canadian, and Darlene Jones of Semiole; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frances Kitch

Funeral services for Frances Opal (Goodmiller) Kitch, the mother of a Seminole resident, were held Monday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at McNeil’s Mustang Funeral Service.

Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wheatland.

Kitch died Friday, July 26, 2002 at an Oklahoma City hospital after a short illness.

She was born Oct. 10, 1915 in Paris, Texas to Clay and Maud Gill Tiner.

She grew up in Wheatland and attended Mustang High School.

Kitch lived in Wheatland for many years and had lived in Oklahoma City since 1967.

She was a longtime employee of C.R. Anthony Co. and had worked for Dr. Southern and Hutchinson in later years.

She attended Wheatland United Methodist Church.

Kitch was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Glenn Goodmiller and Paul Kitch; one brother, Walter Tiner and an infant sister.

She is survived by one daughter, Glenda Griggs; one son, Gaither Goodmiller of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Cheryl, Holli, Heidi, and Ludy; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Walker, Hayden, Taylor, and Reed; and a special friend, Leon Broom of Oklahoma City.

Lavoy Klutts

Funeral services for Lavoy "Dink" Klutts, nephew of Seminole resident Red Southard, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday at the West 10th Street Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Rev. Larry Guttridge will officiate the services.

Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Prague Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Klutts died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born to Odes and Lillie Klutts on Oct. 8, 1926 in Okfuskee County.

Klutts attended Horseshoe Bend Elementary School and graduated from Paden High School in 1944.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and was among the first troops to land in Japan after the bomb was dropped.

After his discharge in 1947, he began his career in the oilfield, which spanned more than 55 years.

Klutts worked for Jimmy Austin Drilling Company, NL Acme Tool, Gulf-Chevron, and had his own business.

While working for Chevron in Houston, Texas, Klutts married Beverly Yeager, and they were married for almost 13 years.

Upon retirement from Chevron, the couple moved to Oklahoma City where Klutts began DK Consulting, doing drilling rig consulting in the area.

He was a member of the West 1oth Street Baptist in Oklahoma City and their Golden Okie Group.

Klutts was also a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the McAlester Consistory, and also a member of the Seminole Masonic Lodge No. 476.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Dick Chambers; and one stepson, Michael Scott.

Klutts is survived by his wife, Beverly, of the home; one son, Todd Klutts, North Richland, Texas; one daughter, Annie Chadd, Guthrie; one stepson, Greg Smith, Oklahoma City; one step-daughter, Stephanie Smith-Franklin, Oklahoma City; one adopted daughter, Gladys Lynn Plummer, Louisiana; one sister, Imogene (Klutts) Chambers, Bartlesville; one brother, Walter Joe, Okemah; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

E.P. Krausse

Funeral services for former Bowlegs principal E.P. Krausse were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Holdenville.

John Krausse was set to officiate.

Burial was to follow at Wetumka City Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Krausse died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 99.

He was born March 20, 1902 in Zschedkwitz, Germany, near Altneburg, to Paul Frederick and Emma "Schmutzler" Krausse.

He was raised in the Douglass area and attended school at Douglass where he graduated from high school in 1920.

Krausse attended college at Oklahoma A&M where he graduated from in 1926 and was lated commissioned into the ROTC in 1926 as well.

He married Edna Morrison on July 30, 1926 in Okemah.

He was employed with Wetumka Ford Garage in the parts department.

Krausse was director of numerous Educational CC Camps in Colorado and New Mexico for several years.

He came back to Wetumka in the early 1940’s and homesteaded east of Wetumka where he farmed and taught at Fairview until 1950.

He then taught at Dustin School from 1950 until 1955 and served as Bowlegs Grade School principal from 1955 until 1967.

Krausse then moved to Kansas for three years and then in 1972 came back to Holdenville and served as a custodian at Thomas Elementary School for 20 years until 1996.

He then moved to Yukon where he lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Krausse is survived by two sons, Gerald Krausse of Canadian and Allen Krausse of Shawnee; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Ray Shorman, Chad Donaldson, David Krausse, Brian Krausse, Erich Krausse and Fred Alvarado.

Glenna Laird

Graveside funeral services for Glenna Mae Laird were held Friday at the Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Chaplain Harry Smith officiated.

Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel Funeral Service of Noble.

Laird died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 in Norman at the age of 77.

She was born May 31, 1925 in Hannah to Glenn and Josephine Harris.

She attended school at New Lima and graduated in 1942.

Laird married William Charles Laird Sr. on May 2, 1942. They made their home in California for a short time and then moved to St. Louis.

In 1953, the couple moved to Cleveland County where they resided until their deaths.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God faith.

Laird was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one sister, Bonnie Marie Harris.

She is survived by two sons, William "Bill" Laird Jr. of St. Louis and Michael Laird of Ardmore; four daughters, Linda Lee Fleming and Sheila Unsell, both of Norman, Pat "Peach" Tolson of Purcell, and Melissa Cossey of Seminole; one brother, Glenn Harris of St. Louis; one sister, JoAnne Cleary of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Honorary casket bearers are her grandsons, Darrell Fleming Jr., Doug Tolson, Thad Peterson, and Josh and Jeb Rollins.
