Bobby Lee Hughes

Graveside services for Seminole resident, Bobby Lee Hughes are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jul7y 23, at the little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

He died July 21, 2003, at the age of 77 at McAlester Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 13, 1926 in Carr Creek to Robert Loon Hughes and Mary Roy (Kinnard) Hughes.

He was married to Loretta C. (Bet) Hughes on March 5, 1949 in Primeville, Ore.

She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 1994.

He was a retired truck driver for Dolese Brothers Concrete Company and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his son, Gary Hughes.

He is survived by four sons, Jim Hughes of Newalla, Bill Hughes of Oklahoma City, Tommy Hughes of Holdenville and Kenny Hughes of Seminole; two daughters, Karen Hughes of Seminole and Bobbie Williams of Elk City; 22 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Officiating the services will be John Garner.

Hump Halsey

Funeral services for Seminole native, Hump Halsey are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Guthrie.

He died Monday, July 21, 2003, at the age of 82 in Colonial Estaes Nursing Home, Guthrie.

He and his wife, Eddie Lou, worked most of their lives on the ranch, Wild Cat Curve Angus Farms, between Guthrie and Madill.

They sold the ranch about seven years ago when Halsey became too ill to work it.

He was a pilot, cowboy, roper, rodeo clown, rancher, cattle breeder and philanthroppist.

Juanita Hutchings

Funeral services for long time Seminole County resident, Juanita Irene Hutchings of Maud, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.

Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Bristow City Cemetery in Bristow under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Hutchings died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at the age of 89 at her home in Maud.

She was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Burleson, Ala. to William Jehu Ledbetter and Henrietta (White) Ledbeter.

Hutchings moved to Maud from Alabama 79 years ago.

She married Charles Raymond Hutchings on Sept. 15, 1946.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charels on June. 2, 1962; and three brothers, Joe, Willie and Ernest Ledbetter.

She is survived by one son, Charles Hutchings and wife, Joyce of Yukon and one grandchild.

Pall bearers will be Curtis O’Daniel, Steve O’Daniel, Charles Pierce, Jim Jones and Mitch Adams.

Phillip Lester Hutchinson

Funeral services for Wewoka resident, Phillip Lester Hutchinson, are scheduled for Monday at 11 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Wewoka.

He died June 2, 2003, at the age of 23, in Unity North Hospital of Shawnee.

He was born Aug. 16, 1979, in Oklahoma City to the late Richard Howard Hutchinson and Irene (Howard) Hutchinson.

He lived in Wewoka, attended Wewoka Elementary School and played elementary football in Wewoka.

He moved to Norman in 1989 and attended jr. high school at Irving Middle School.

He also attended Norman High School finishing the 11th grade.

He was a former member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, George and Albert.

Survivors include his stepmother, Loretta Hutchinson of Wewoka; one daughter, Jerika Hutchinson of Norman; brothers, Richard Phillips, Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Glen, Kenneth, Ronnie, John, Gregory and David Phillips, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Tony Warrior of Wewoka, George Bryant Hutchinson of Norman and Ray Warrior of Ada; sisters, Jeanette Phillips Raily, Della Phillips, Diane Phillips and Cassandra Scott, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; Sohilia Nicole Hutchinson and Cora Jean Warrior of Wewoka; and Calvaline Williams of Ada.

Officiating pastor will be Rev. Reginald V. Woods.

Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka.

J.W. "Bill" Hutchison

Word has been received of the death of J.W. "Bill" Hutchison, who served in the Seminole County Assessors office in the late 1940’s.

He died Oct. 7, 2003, at the age of 83, after a year-long battle with stroke complications.

He was born March 14, 1920, in Wilburton to Roy and Martha Hutchison.

As an attorney, he was a member of the Oklahoma Bar for over 50 years.

He served in the Seminole County Assessors office, Midwest City Municipal Judge and also served several years as Associate District Judge for Oklahoma County.

He is survived by one brother, Robert Hutchison of Houston, Texas; one Son, David Hutchison of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Debi Merzer and several grandchildren, all of Midwest City.

No services are planned.

Mandy Lee Hyatt

Funeral services for Mandy Lee Hyatt, sister of Seminole resident, Velma Brumley, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Little Cemetery in Seminole.

She died on June 5, 2003, at the age of 90, in Stillwater.

She was born May 6, 1913 in Seminole County to James Henry and Minnie (Carrigan) Estep.

She was married to Floyd Mike Hyatt, who died on May 9, 1980.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a special friend to many.

She loved her large family and her friends throughout her life.

She enjoyed fishing, giving garage sales, canning, sewing, country music and making a summer garden.

She also enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren.

She recently celebrated her 90th birthday at the Westhaven Nursing Home in Stillwater, where she enjoyed being a resident for the past year and a half.

Her parents, three brothers, four sisters, three sons, one daughter, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Glen Hyatt and Carl Hyatt, both of Perry; five daughters, Pearl Turner of Edmond, Marie Barber and Wanda Williams, both of Stillwater, Pauline Gottfried and Evelyn Thornbrue, both of Perry; one brother, Rev. Andrew Estep of Wewoka; one sister, Velma Brumley of Seminole; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene of Perry in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home.

Linda Sue Ivy

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Linda Sue (Jones) Ivy, now of Raleigh, N.C., were scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at the Sasawka Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wesley Martin officiating.

Interment followed at Vamoosa Cemetery in Konawa under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ivy died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Atlanta, Ga.

She was born Dec. 11, 1943, in Holdenville to Lawrence Jones and Estie (Price) Jones.

She was married to Jesse Calvin Ivy on Feb 14, 2000, in Memphis, Tenn.

Ivy was an accountant for the State of North Carolina Dept. of Public Education.

She was a member of the Nuese Baptist Church of Raleigh, N.C.

She received her B.S. Degree in Accounting from the University of Alaska.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Kay Brock.

She is survived by Jesse "Cal: Ivy of the home, one son, Richrad Forbes of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Susan Toole of Smithville, N.C.; one stepson, Danny Ivy of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one step daughter, Allison Sullivan, also of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one sister, Inetha Watters Yeargan of Ada; two brothers, Claude Jones of Luther and Bobby Jones of Konawa; seven grandchildren, step grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers included Scott Jones, Steve Jones, Jack Merrell, Joe Flanary, Harlis Yeargan and Aubrey Bryce.

Herbert Jackson

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident, Herbert Ray Jackson are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at the Swearingen Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Jones officiating.

Interment will follow at the Tate Mt. Cemetery in Seminole County under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Jackson died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the age of 61 at Texhoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

He was born April 25, 1942, to Herbert Roy Jackson and Mamie (Hamrick) Farmer in Seminole.

He grew up in Wolf and graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1960.

He was married to his loving wife, Anita Allen Berryhill.

Jackson was a retired oil field worker for the Hughes Oil Company in Houston, Texas and also worked for Varel Manufacturing in Dallas, Texas.

He had served in the United States Air Force.

His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived b his wife, Anita Allen Berryhill, of the home, one son, Scott Jackson and wife Roma; one daughter, Brandi Vannoy and husband Don; one sister, Noma Singhisen; two grandchildren, Brittani and Maddison Vannoy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
