Elizabeth Kemmerer

Graveside services for Elizabeth Taylor Kemmerer were scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 in the Holdenville Cemetery with Rev. Joe Robinson officiating.

Services were under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Visitation and viewing took place at Fisher Funeral Home on Monday Jan. 5.

Kemmerer died unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at Gulf Point Plaza Nursing Home in Rockport, Texas at the age of 98.

She was born June 3, 1905 in Holdenville, Indian Territory to William Marion Taylor and George Boswell Marable Taylor.

She was raised in Holdenville, was interested and involved in literature, the arts and drama, and graduated from Holdenville High School in 1922.

She attended Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton, Texas for two years, then transferred to Oklahoma Baptist University in 1924, where she graduated with honors in 1926.

She received her teachers certificate from the State of Oklahoma, Department of Education on May 17, 1926 and immediately began teaching English in the Holdenville Elementary School.

She married Charles Roland Kemmerer on June 26, 1928 in Holdenville.

An accountant by trade, and then employed by Roxana Petroleum as an auditor based in Missouri,

The couple moved to St. Louis where she received her Teacher's Certificate from the State of Missouri.

Homesick for her native Oklahoma and family, they returned to Holdenville in 1929.

She resumed teaching English in Holdenville while involving herself in many civic activities.

In 1932, she was often seen and heard supporting her husband and parents in their diverse area businesses, including Atlas Abstract, Holdenville Grain & Seed Company, The First National Bank, the Taylor-Kemmerer Company, First State Savings & Loan business, various oil and gas interests, and the J.O. Chapman Estate.

In 1941, the family began the area's first Dodge and Plymouth dealership located at 120 South Oak Street.

In 1942 Kemmerer participated in the formation of the first War Fund Drive on behalf of the American Red Cross.

Actively involved in the community, she joined the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church on July 19, 1941.

She received her 25-Year Member Pin from the American Red Cross and was keenly involved with the United Methodist Women's Group during this same time.

She also occupied her time caring for her parents and six aunts while supporting Charles' duties with the Holdenville Chamber of Commerce, Retail Merchants Association, Elks Club and Kiwanis Club.

She began working for the Hughes County offices of Oklahoma Department of Human Services and Workforce Oklahoma in the mid 1960's while attending to her disabled husband.

She moved to Rockport-Fulton, Texas in August, 2001 in order to be close to her son, Dr. William Taylor Kemmerer.

She maintained close ties to, as well as business and personal interests in, the Holdenville community.

She was in the process of returning home to Holdenville at the time of her death on Thursday.

She is survived by one son, Dr. William Taylor Kemmerer of Rockport-Fulton, Texas; three grandchildren, one great-grandson,

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Kemmerer; her parents, and a daughter-in-law, Jane Lois Hickman Kemmerer

Donations may be made to Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church of Holdenville or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Betty Jo Kerlin

Funeral services for Betty Jo Kerlin, 71, of Seminole, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Chapel.

Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Kerlin died Thursday in an automobile accident north of Seminole.

She was born Jan. 11, 1933, in Elkhart, Texas, to Earl James and Rosa Caroline (McGraw) Thornton.

She sold antiques and worked at BJ Antiques in Galveston, Texas for 15 years, retiring in 1998.

She moved to Seminole in 1999 and attended Bowlegs Methodist Church.

She married Lillard Kerlin on Feb. 14, 1968, in Pasadena, Texas; he survives her of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Dwayne Kerlin, Taylor, Texas, and Kevin Kerlin, Buferd, Ga.; one daughter, Linda Schneider, Houson, Texas; one brother, James Thornton, Goodrich, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cecil Lee Kernell

Funeral services for Cecil Lee Kernell, member of a Wewoka church, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Mekusukey Baptist Church south of Seminole, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Robert Kernell and Glen Kernell Jr. will be officiating, and burial will be in the Kernell Family Cemetery in Seminole.

A wake service is set for tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Mekusukey Baptist Church, at 7:30 p.m.

Kernell died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 58.

He was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Shawnee, to Simeon James Kernell Sr. and Amelia Cully Kernell.

Kernell attended Acme Elementary and Dale High School, where he graduated in 1969.

He later attended East Central University in Ada, and made his home in Shawnee.

Kernell worked for ONG for 17 years and other natural gas compression companies.

He was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma and a member of the Hill Top Presbyterian Church in Wewoka.

Kernell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Simeon James Kernell Jr.

He is survived by two sons, Roland Kernell, Tulsa, and Gregory Kernell, Shawnee; three brothers, Glen Kernell Sr., Oklahoma City, John Kernell, Shawnee, and Roger Kernell, Oklahoma City; one sister, Norma Jean Hopkins, Oklahoma City; and one granddaughter.

John Kibby Jr.

Funeral services for the brother of Wewoka resident Roy Kibby, John Dewey Kibby Jr., were held Monday at First Baptist Church, Holdenville.

Rev. David Welch officiated and was assisted by James Hamilton.

Burial followed in Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Kibby died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 83.

He was born June 28, 1921, in Yeager to Mary Lula (Gentry) and John D. Kibby Sr.

He attended school in Yeager and lived most of his life in the Horntown community, where he farmed and ranched.

He also worked in the oilfield as a roughneck, driller and tool pusher.

He married Addie Hulsey in Holdenville on Nov. 9, 1940.

She died on Nov. 17, 1976, after 36 years of marriage.

On Sept. 17, 1977 he married Lee Snider at Gerty. They made their home in the Gerty area.

Kibby retired from the oilfield in 1983 and from farming and ranching two years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lula Kibby; one granddaughter, Charity Kibby, in 1980; five brothers, Leonard, Billy and Frank Kibby, and two who died in infancy; and three sisters, Ethel Marie Price, Thelma Brooks and Cora Fisher.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lee, of the home; two sons, Billy W. Kibby, Wetumka, and Jerry Kibby, Claremore; four daughters, Carolyn Weber and Donna Hamilton, both of Anadarko, Linda Burkhead and JoVaughn Davis, both of Verden; one stepdaughter, Flora Lee Sells, Gerty; four stepsons, C.L. Thornton, Calvin, Cleaburn Thornton, Gerty, Ray Thornton, Allen, and Tom Thornton, Arlington, Texas; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nelma Hammons, Bakersfield, Calif., Mary Paslay, Holdenville, and Jean Welch, Owasso.

George Kime

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident George Harold Kime, Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Wilmont Place Baptist Church.

Interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of Vondel Smith and Sons Mortuaries of Oklahoma City.

Kime died Oct. 26, 2004 at Southwest Medical Center. He was born Nov. 12, 1926 in Wetumka to William and Elizabeth Kime.

He grew up in Seminole with nine brothers and sisters until 1944 when he joined the military service and served active duty in the Philippines.

After the war he married Wanda Thomas of Seminole and they settled in Oklahoma City.

Kime worked 18 years at American Iron and 16 years in the United States Postal service. He served at Wilmont Place Baptist Church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and musician.

His wife of 57 years; daughter, Anne Labude; son, George, Jr.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Kime; and three sisters, Lillian Hall, Ruth Enochs and Doris Hudson survive him.

Donations may be sent to Grace Rescue Mission in lieu of flowers.

Earl Hillard King

Graveside services for Earl Hillard King were held on Monday, July 26, 2004 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Knight Swearingen Funeral Home.

King died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the age of 95.

He was born in Carrol County, Mississippi on Aug. 2, 1908 to Robert and Edna King.

King grew up with two brothers and a sister.

He grew up in Misissippi Delta country helping his parents farm cotton.

He and his family moved near Earlsboro during the oil boom.

King worked as a farm laborer and oil field worker .

He met and married Myrtle Springfield on September 1930 and together they had two sons.

King worked for the W.P.A. during the depression and went to work for Warren Gasoline company plant North of Maud.

He worked there for 29 years, working at plants near Holliday, TX. and Mayesville, OK. His hobby was fishing

In 1984, after the death of his wife, King remarried to Mamie Hays until her death two years later.

After the death of Mamie Hays, King married Pearl Scott.

King lived with Pear at the Golden rule Home in Shawnee at the time of his death.

King was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nannie King Eric; brothers, Clifford King and Erie King; sons, Walter Lee King and Donnie Earl King; wifes, Myrtle (Springfield) King and Mamie (Hays) King.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl King; son, Robert James King; step-daughter, Virginia Stover; step-son and wife, Leo and Bonnie Scott and many nieces and nephews.
