Melva Davis

Funeral services for lifetime Konawa resident Melva Jean Davis were held today at 11 a.m. in the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home chapel with Tom Amos officiating.

Interment followed the services at Wolf Cemetery.

Davis, 73, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 in a nursing home in Norman. She was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Texas to Felix Nelie and Edna A. (Wilson) Ross.

She was a cook for 20 years and a LPN for 10 years. Davis was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Her parents, and one son, Edward Lee Allison preceded her in death.

Three sons, James Alan Allison of Norman, Larry Ray Allison of Noble and Frank Mills Allison of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her.

Acting as pallbearers for the service were Ray Roskoph, Gary Cloud, Mark Stoup, Brandon stoup, Robert Roulston, Mark Reeves and David Branscum.

Imogene Marie Dawson

Imogene Marie (Kagle) Dawson was born to Webster Howard and Delia Bertha (Kiggin) Kagle in Cleveland, May 12, 1917, and moved, as a young girl, to Seminole, with her parents and three sisters, Maxine, Helen and Bonnie, during the 1920's Oil Boom.

On Nov. 5, 1934, in Seminole, she married William Wallace "Bill" Dawson, Sr. and they had four children, John, Juvata, Bill, Jr. and Keturah.

In her life with us she was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother, supportive sister, and a great friend to all.

She had many passions of interest in her 87 years; dancing the Charleston, oil painting, playing bridge, sewing, drinking Coca Cola, taking international trips, loving her grandchildren and flying were just a few.

She loved all her work experiences in Seminole, which included waitress, sales clerk, and owning her own business, the "Jack & Jill Tot Shop," a children’s clothing store.

She loved political campaigns and was a devoted volunteer for David Boren, Wes Watkins, and her son Bill Dawson, Jr.

Imogene was also active as a delegate to the 3rd Congressional District Democratic Caucus.

Imogene was active in her community as a Cub Scout den mother, a Methodist Youth Fellowship teacher, counselor, church camp sponsor, and for 22 years a hospital Pink Lady.

She was a 15-year member of Business & Professional Women (B.P.W.) and a member of the First Assembly of God in Seminole.

On March 3, 2005, Imogene closed her earthly eyes, took the hand of God, and awakened in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Dawson, Sr., on Oct. 14, 1980; son, Bill Dawson, Jr.; sisters, Helen Watts and Bonnie Vincent.

She is survived by son, John Dawson of Perry, Oklahoma; daughters and sons-in-law, Juvata and Doug Rundle and Keturah and Jack Ladd all of Seminole, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Marie Dawson of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister Maxine Griffen of Seminole; and by her grandchildren, Branon Bowen, Branish Bowen, Kirt Rundle, Shalia Rundle Ashcraft, Russ Rundle, William Dawson, Thomas Dawson, and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2005, at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Doyle Long officiating.

Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Casket Bearers will be; Kirt Rundle, Russ Rundle, Branon Bowen, William Dawson, Thomas Dawson and Randy Ashcraft.

Mildra Lee Dearen

Funeral services for long time Seminole County resident Mildra Lee Dearen were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dearen died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Valley View Hospital in Ada. She was 95 years old and her home in Sasakwa.

She was born May 12, 1910, in Donie, Texas to Robert Lacey Fulton and Olive Donie (Robertson) Fulton.

In March 1930, she married Dewey Dewell Dearen in Andrews, Texas.

Dearen was a homemaker and also sold Stanley Products. She was of the Baptist faith as well as a former member of the Rebecka’s Lodge.

Dearen’s parents; husband, Dewey Dearen; one son, Jimmie D. Dearen; two brothers, Bill and Avery Fulton; and two sisters, Edna Seifert and Francis Towery, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Delaine Livesay of Sasakwa; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Tom Ledgerwood, Dee Ledgerwood, Jason Livesay, William Livesay, Jim Livesay, and Edward Livesay. Honorary Bearers are Thad Cathey and Jimmy Weber.

Robert Deatherage

Memorial services for former Seminole resident Robert Thomas "Dit" Deatherage were held at 2 p.m. today at True Life Fellowship Church in Holdenville.

Deatherage, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at his Holdenville home. He was born Nov. 11, 1937 in Holdenville to Jessie and Minnie (White) Deatherage.

He was married on Sept. 19, 1999 to Emmie Kimbrel, his common law wife since 1978.

Surviving him is his wife, two sons, Jerry Deatherage and Christopher Deatherage, all of the home.

Opalene ‘Opal’ Degge

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Opalene "Opal" Degge were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel. Rev. Larry Chesser was set to officiate.

Interment was set to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Degge died at Holdenville General Hospital in Holdenville on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the age of 99.

She was born to Walter and Rachel "Sparks" Salmon in Canadian on Feb. 17, 1906.

Degge attended school in Eufaula and she married Charley Degge in Wewoka on Jan. 21, 1928.

She was a member of the Gleaners Holiness Church in Wewoka.

Degge was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rachel Salmon and one son, Billy Joe Degge.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Boyd of Wewoka, Pat Davis of Wewoka, Cecil Degge of Wewoka, Faye Sallee of Waldron, Ark., Elaine Carter of Odessa, Texas; three brothers, Willard Hill of California, Joe Dean Hill of California, and Warren Salmon of Eufaula; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 16, plus three expected, great-great-grandchildren.

Her great grandsons were set to be pallbearers and her grandsons were set to be her honorary pallbearers.

Dale Devore Sr.

A memorial service was held at the family’s residence on Sunday for Seminole resident Dale Allen Devore Sr.

Arrangements were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Devore, 76, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005 at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee. He was born July 18, 1929 in Parsons, Kan. to John A. Devore and Frances (Minseau) Devore.

He married Wanda Burris in June 1962 in Las Vegas, Nev. Devore moved to Seminole from Iowa in 1997.

Devore was a lather in construction for many years in California and was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.

His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; four sons, Dale Devore jr. of Seminole, Tim Devore, Ben Devore and Andy Devore, all of California; two daughters, Michelle Perryman of Prague and Suzanna Devore of California; and two step-daughters, Sandra Hooper of Dallas, Texas and Susan Smith of Seminole.

In addition, one brother, Wayne Devore of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three sisters, Polly Story and Agine Leuong of California and Geraldene Devore of Oregon and five grandchildren survive him.

James Dicken Jr.

Burial for former Seminole resident James "Jay" Fletcher Dicken Jr. is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday in the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Visitation for the Mt. Vernon, Mo. resident are scheduled from 6 – 7 p.m. tonight in the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.

Dicken died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Mo. He was born Nov. 15, 1919 in Colorado Springs, Colo. to James and Mary Leoda (Coffmen) Dicken.

He worked a variety of jobs including restaurant owner and service station mechanic. Dicken was a member of the Vision of God’s Outreach Church, Mt. Vernon.

On Dec. 12, 1968 he married Jean McDaniel in Miami, Okla.

His parents and an uncle who raised him, Clifford, preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife and sister, Nadine Schaefer of Kansas City, Mo.

Don Dixon

Memorial services for former Seminole resident Don E. Dixon for 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands United Methodist Church in Woodlands, Texas.

Dixon of The Woodlands, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. He was born in Seminole on April 6, 1929 to Oscar and Opal Dixon.

Surviving him is his wife of 55 years, Patricia Wilbanks Dixon; three children, Martha Saikowski, Stan Dixon and Suzanne Malone; five grandchildren; one great-grandchildren and one sister, Kay Dixon Squires.

Lee Dockrey

Funeral services for Lee Edward Dockrey of Shawnee are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Church of God in Shawnee with Rev. Charles Higgins to officiate.

He is the brother of Wewoka resident Gerald Dockrey and has lived most of his life in the Johnson Community, northeast of Shawnee.

Interment will follow the services at Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dockrey, 77, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005 in Shawnee. He was born June 21, 1928 in Harjo to William Robert Dockrey and Lovella Mae (West) Dockrey.

He graduated from Harjo High School in 1946 and served in Korea for the United States Army after enlisting twice.

Dockrey married Laveda Faye Souders on July 10, 1954 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Shawnee. He was a deacon at the same church for several years.

He retired from Tinker Air Force base on April 3, 1987.

His parents; wife Laveda (8-14-02); one brother, Louie Dockrey and three sisters, Bernice Doty and infants, Lois Marie and Juanita Dockrey preceded him in death.

Surviving is one son, Robert E. Dockrey of Shawnee; one daughter, Lisa Marie Claytor of Ft. Smith, Ark.; brother, Gerald Dockrey of Wewoka; sister, Geneva Black of Earlsboro; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
