Kenneth Leroy O’Dell

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole area resident Kenneth Leroy O’Dell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Interment is to follow services at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

O’Dell, 62, of Bowlegs, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at his home. He was born Nov. 21, 1943 in Seminole to John Joseph O’Dell and Viola Elizabeth (Sumpter) O’Dell.

He graduated from Electra, Texas High School in 1960 and was a self-employed welder. O’Dell was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

His parents and one brother, Leonard O’Dell preceded him in death.

Surviving is son John O’Dell of Tulsa; three daughters, Karen Silva of Denton, Texas, Sheila Silva of Krugerville, Texas and Cheryl O’Dell of Seminole; one sister, Bernice Ashby of Bowlegs; the mother of his children, Dava O’Dell of Denton, Texas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Velda Mae Ogburn

Graveside services for former long-time Konawa resident Velda Mae Ogburn are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Konawa Cemetery.

Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home is handling arrangements and Rev. Winston Curtis is set to officiate.

Ogburn died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Alterra Sterling House in Duncan. She was 83.

Born December 24, 1921, to J.W. Benson and Lorene (Limpus) Benson in Meeker, she moved to Konawa in 1948 and lived there until she moved to Duncan in 2003.

She married J.L. Ogburn on July 28, 1939, in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1991.

Along with her husband, Ogburn owned and operated the Otasco Store in Konawa from 1948 to 1976. After retirement, the Ogburns traveled extensively until J.L.’s death.

Ogburn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Konawa.

In addition to traveling, Ogburn spent time fishing and was known for the quilts she made.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.L. Ogburn; and one sister, Ruby Heath.

Ogburn is survived by one daughter, Jill Mansfield of Marlow; one sister, Laverne Lewis of Wetumka.

Honorary bearers will be Marvin Patterson, Marty Coffey, Van Chew, Rick Johnston, Larry Mays and Phillip Mullins.

Memorial contributions can be made to Chisholm Trail Hospice of Duncan.

Glenn Oliver

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Glenn D. Oliver are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Creth Hopkins will officiate and interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home of Pawhuska.

Oliver, 75 of Oklahoma City, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005 at his home. He was born March 5, 1930 in Shawnee to Roger and Myrtie (Gates) Oliver.

He graduated from Seminole High School and attended the University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship.

In 2004, he was honored for his outstanding contribution to the Seminole High School football program.

On July 20, 1965 he married Lesta Labadie in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked in the oil and gas industry, retiring in 1994

He enjoyed motorcycle rides, golf, OU football, daily coffee with his buddies at Lake Hefner and spending time with his family.

His parents, daughter Kerry Dickison, son Wade Albright, brother Weldon Oliver and an infant sister preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife; daughter, Dale Atterberry; sons, Keith Oliver, Neil Albright and Kyle Albright and five grandchildren.

Susan Orr

Funeral services for rural Ada resident, Susan Gail Mills Orr, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Freedom Center, 14th & Broadway, Ada.

Interment is to follow service at Calvin Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Orr, 47, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005 in Ada. She was born Nov. 26, 1957 in Wichita, Kan. to Jimmy R. Mills and Eululia Rogers Mills.

She was raised in Booneville and Ft. Smith, Ark. and attended school in Booneville, Greenwood and Ft. Smith.

In 1980 she married Alvin Lee Orr in Van Buren, Ark., and the couple made their home in Ada.

She worked as a seamstress for Rock Mount and was a wife and mother.

Her father and grandparents, Archie and Rowena Mills and Willie Martin Rogers preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; children, Amber Orr of Ada, Scotty Orr of Seminole and Shawna Jackson of Cache; mother, Eululia Mills of Ft. Smith; grandmother, Oneida Rogers; six grandchildren and two sisters, Sandy Moore of Howe, Okla. and Peggy Allard of Ft. Smith.

Delores Ott

Graveside services for Okemah resident Delores F. Ott are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Bearden Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ott, 72, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 at Henryetta Medical Center. She was born Oct. 26, 1933 in Okemah to Guy and Gertrude (Franks) Anderson.

She married Melvin Ott Oct. 19, 1952 at the Okemulgee Court House.

Ott worked for American Manufacturer Services as a solderer for circuit boards and radios. She was a member of the Highway Baptist Church in Little and Castle Baptist Church in Castle.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Ott of Tulsa, Renee Lewis and Donna Clutts, both of Okemah; one son, Michael Ott of Bearden; one sister, Darlene Brumley of Seminole; one brother, Jerry Anderson of Bearden and 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lucille Owen

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Lucille Sarah Owen are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2005 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Lucille Sarah (Earles) Owen, age 91 of Oklahoma City, passed away on July 27, 2005 at Southwest Medical Center. She was born Feb. 2, 1914 in Seminole to Jim and Cora Earles.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1933 and attended East Central University and Central State College.

Lucille worked for Douglas Aircraft during World War II and began her career as a Revenue Examiner for the Oklahoma Tax Commission in 1969 and retired in 1986.

She enjoyed world travel visiting all the continents with her many senior citizen travel group friends. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Seminole and the Hillcrest Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Raymond Owen; two daughters, Ann Marie Owen and Lou Alice Rae Owen; three sisters, Ruby Griffin Daigle, Vivian Marie Roberts and Roberta Earles Wimberly as well as a brother, Buell F. Earles.

Lucille is survived by a son, Charles Alan Owen and wife Glenda of Mustang; daughter, Sara J. Hand and husband Thomas of Moore; four grandsons, Jeffrey A. Owen and wife Sherri of Bethany, Curtis R. Owen and wife Angela of Springer, Guy R. Hand and wife Elizabeth of Newcastle, T.J. Hand and wife Kellie of Tuttle; eight and one-half great-grandchildren, Ashley, Matt, Zac, Chase, Tyler, Brodey, Dusty Kodey and Lauren who is due in October; niece, Elizabeth Borango and husband Larry and daughter Laura Lynn of Fresno, CA; nephew, Jerrill J. Daigle and Mary of Stewart, TN as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Mildred Padgett

Funeral services for Seminole resident Mildred West Padgett are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glenn Pence, First Christian Church officiating.

Interment is to follow services at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Padgett, 83, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 in Seminole. She was born Feb. 14, 1922 in Maxia, Texas to Joseph Samuel "Pearl" and Dee Ola (Harbolt) Mitchell.

She spent her childhood in the Ada area but has also lived in Oklahoma City, Durant, Irving, Texas, as well as Shawnee. Mildred has lived in Seminole since the death of her husband.

Mildred was a graduate of Byng High School and she married Hank Padgett on June 2, 1988 in Bullhead City, Ariz.

She was a homemaker and while living in Irving, Texas she owned and operated Herndon’s Dress Shop. Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole and of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Mildred enjoyed listening to music, dancing and her pet "O.J."

Her parents; husband (April 27, 1989); granddaughter, Michelle West and three sisters, Estelle and Annie Mitchell and Viola Armstrong preceded her in death.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Clydene and David Autery of Seminole; son and daughter-in-law, S.C. "Ted" and Pat West of Savannah, Ga.; five grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Troyce Whatley, Greg and Chrissie Whatley, Pam West, Dallas Autery and Kari and Bob Lane.

In addition, six great-grandchildren, Colt Watley, Trey Watley, Jasmine Whatley, Savannah Autery, William Lane and Cheyenne Lane and many friends and family members survive her.

Alta Mae Parker

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Alta Mae Parker were held today at 2 p.m. at Wewoka Church of Christ with Dwight Parker officiating.

Burial followed the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Parker, 72, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Shawnee Unity Hospital. She was born on April 19, 1933 in Wetumka to George Jones and Daisy Kersey.

She attended Butner Schools and played basketball. Parker was also involved with the Choctaw Mothers Basketball team.

On June 8, 1951 she married George Parker in Wewoka. She was a homemaker and member of Wewoka Church of Christ.

Her parents and sister, Audrey Totten preceded her in death.

Survivors are her husband of the home; son, Randall Keith parker of Del City; daughter, Vickie L. Griffin of Midwest City; sisters, Velma Saltzman of Colorado, Oleda Newman of Wewoka and Imogene Davis of Choctaw; brothers, Kenneth Jones of Cypress, Texas, Wayne Jones of Ada, Melvin Jones of Shawnee, Roland Jones and David A. Jones, both of Wewoka; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Danny Ray Parks

Danny Ray Parks of Wewoka died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at Wewoka Nursing Home. He was 49. No services are scheduled at this time.

Parks was born May 31, 1956 in Seminole to Bobby C. Parks and Julie (Fisher) Parks. He was a longtime Seminole County resident.

He married Susan (Jackson) Parks on April 22, 1983, in Seminole.

Parks was a veteran of the Army and also worked as a truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Parks, and his grandparents.

Parks is survived by his father, Bobby C. Parks of Seminole; wife, Susan Parks of Seminole; two sons, Danny Ray Parks Jr., and Tolbert "Toby" Parks of Wewoka; three step-daughters, Dana Davis of Wewoka, Sarah Logan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Melissa Parks; two sisters, Carol Babb of Seminole, and Patsy Andres of California; and four grandchildren.

Swearingen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
