Velma Chaffin

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Velma Irene Chaffin are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery.

Rusty Dawson is to officiate and burial is to follow under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Chaffin, 86, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in Seminole. She was born Dec. 31, 1919 in Rudy, Ark. to John and Cora Pack.

She married Braxton John Chaffin and had moved to Seminole from Earlsboro 26 years ago.

Her parents; husband (Sept. 3, 1981); two brothers, Lelin Pack and Floyd Pack and one daughter, Barbara Eddlemon preceded her in death.

Four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive her.

Hope Chambers

Hope Chambers, age 96 of Oklahoma City, passed away Friday, March 24, 2006.

Hope was born January 19, 1910, in Seymour, Ind., to Thomas Edward and Louella Krienhagen.

On January 16, 1935, Hope married Robert Chambers who preceded her in death in 1973.

She was employed by First National Bank of Oklahoma City.

She was a longtime resident of Wewoka, where she was an active member of First Christian Church and employee of Claybrook Drilling.

Hope is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Katherine and Peggy, her brothers Zach and Robert Lee, and her son William.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary, grandson Clay (and Lisa) Chambers, and great-grandsons Rendon and Reece all of Oklahoma City.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2006, in the Abbey Chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park, in Oklahoma City under the direction of Vondel L. Smith Mortuary North, of Oklahoma City.

Nita Chamnaiphol

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Nita Warledo Chamnaiphol are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Hitchitee Methodist Church, located north of Seminole, under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home.

A wake service will be held for Chamnaiphol at 7 p.m. tonight, at the home of Johnson Warledo Jr., at 1808 Hillside Drive in Wewoka.

Chamnaiphol died May 15, 2006, at the age of 44.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1962, to Johnson and Betty Jo Warledo.

Chamnaiphol attended Strother Schools before moving to Alexandria, Va., in 1978.

She was a homemaker and a housewife.

Chamnaiphol was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister Phyllis Warledo and brother Jason Warledo.

She is survived by three sisters, Reba Flute, of Apache, twin sister Rita Hulbutta of Oklahoma City, and Frieda Kisketon of McLoud; and seven brother, Thomas Ahaisse of Harrah, Leo Warledo of Seminole, Jerome Warledo of Edmond, Johnson Warledo of Wewoka, Gerald Warledo of Oklahoma City, Darrell Warledo of Wichita, Kan., Leslie Warledo of Seminole, and Brian Keith Warledo of Tulsa.

Cleve Chandler

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Cleve Chandler are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Steve Cline is to officiate and interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Chandler, 84, passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center. He was born Sept. 7, 1921 in Seminole County to William D. and Retha Mae (Wintz) Chandler.

Cleve served in the United States Army in the Western Pacific Theater with the 33rd Division of the 136th Infantry He received three overseas service bars; Asiatic Pacific Western Medal with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart after being wounded on Mortai Island in New Guinea.

On March 18, 1950 he married Louise A. Arner.

He was a federal employee at Tinker Air Force Base (OCAMA) as a quality control inspector of jet engines. He retired after 23 years in June 1972 and moved back to Seminole.

He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Letha and a 48-year member of the American Legion 204, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.

His parents, only son, Russell and one grandson, Timmy Stanford preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Louise, of the home; daughter, Christie Stanford of Del City; sister, Ruby Miller of Pink; five grandchildren, Amy, Brandi, Angela, Justin and Ronni; four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved pet, Josie.

Pallbearers for the services will be: Dewey Lee, Fred Presley, Ed Bender, Ken Jackson, Doyle Nix and Terry Nix.

Honorary bearers will be Elbert Brown, Johnie Malone and the men of Trinity Baptist Church.

Alicia Chapman

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Alicia Nicole Chapman will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fisher Funeral Home Chapel, and she will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery.

Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Chapman died on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, in an automobile accident near Seminole. She was twenty-two years old.

She was the daughter of Debbie (Upton) Bowen and Ben Chapman and was born in Ada on July 25, 1984. She was the eldest of three sisters, and was affectionately known by her family as ‘Sister’.

Chapman was brought up in the Holdenville area and attended Holdenville schools. She had lived for the past year in Wewoka.

She loved spending time with friends, cooking, and working with crafts. She was very much loved and will be sorely missed.

Her infant daughter, Mikayla Renea, in August 2003, and her maternal grandfather, John Upton, in October 2001 preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Debbie and Danny Bowen of Holdenville; her father, Ben Chapman of Holdenville; her sisters, Kristina Bowen and Katelyn Bowen of Holdenville; her boyfriend, Daniel Blanton of Wewoka; maternal grandmother, Hazel Upton of Oklahoma City, and paternal grandmother, Vera Chapman of Holdenville; step grandparents, Paul and Kathryn Bowen of Indianola, Oklahoma.

Gregory Lynn Cheatham

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Gregory Lynn Cheatham were held Jan. 28, 2006 at Little Chapel in Little. Burial followed at Little Cemetery.

Greg passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 in Oklahoma City. He was born in Seminole Oct. 16, 1955 to Burl and Irma Cheatham.

He attended Seminole Schools and was a very gifted all-around handyman. He did masonry, woodworking, painting, welding, mechanics, carpentry and remolding.

His mother, Irma Cheatham preceded him in death.

Surviving is his daughter, Jennifer Mattson and husband Rob of Crete, Neb.; son, Uriah Cheatham of Morrowville, Kan.; father, Burl Cheatham of Choctaw; two sisters, Sheryl and Glenda of Oklahoma City and five wonderful grandsons.

Gregory Cheatham

Funeral services for Seminole native Gregory Lynn Cheatham are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Little Cemetery Chapel.

Pastor Larry Chapman is to officiate and arrangements are under the direction of Ford Funeral Service of Oklahoma City.

Cheatham, 50 of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 in Oklahoma City. He was born in Seminole on Oct. 16, 1955 to Burl and Irma Cheatham.

Garlin Lee Cheatwood

Graveside services for longtime Maud resident Garlin Lee Cheatwood are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Fairview Cemetery, near Maud.

Rev. Wayne Taylor is set to officiate, under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Cheatwood died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, in Shawnee, at the age of 77.

He was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Corbett, to Clarence William Cheatwood and Dora Mae (Willimette) Cheatwood.

Cheatwood married Dovie (Cooley) Cheatwood on July 20, 1950, in Lexington.

He was self-employed, in the construction business.

Cheatwood was a longtime Maud resident, having moved there from Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Carr; and four brothers, Bodie Cheatwood, Roy Cheatwood, Darrell Cheatwood, and Joe Cheatwood.

Cheatwood is survived by his wife, Dovie, of the home; two sons, Garlin Dale Cheatwood of Edmond and Kenneth Cheatwood of Meeker; five daughters, Mary Goodgion of Tecumseh, Dorothy Wallace of Maud, Beverly Sanford of Holdenville, Belinda Cheatwood of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Janna Wallace of Maud; three brothers, Charlie Cheatwood of Lexington, Melvin Cheatwood of Lexington, and Lewis Cheatwood of Shawnee; one sister, Mabel Currie, of Purcell; 26 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Virginia Cherry

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Virginia Faye Cherry are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Edmond.

Interment is scheduled for 3 p.m. that afternoon at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.

Virginia Cherry, 79, of Edmond, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, following a long illness. She was born in Cushing on Dec. 22, 1926 to Albert J. and Emma Mae Belveal.

She graduated from high school in Seminole and during her life she worked as a daycare cook and teacher and in department stores.

Virginia was a member of the Emmanuel Sunday school class. On June 27, 1948 she married Evan Cherry.

She is survived by her husband; son, Jeff Cherry; two daughters, Penny Phariss and Bobbi Johnson; their spouses, Church Phariss and Danny Johnson; five grandchildren, Mark Phariss, Collier Deaton, Kayla Johnson, Matthew Edwards and Sarah Edwards; siblings, Etta Nelson, Charles Nelson, Lonnie Belveal and Barbara Deal and many nephews and nieces.

Zona Chill

Funeral services for Zona M. Chill of Sapulpa were held today at 2 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sandra and Terrell Copeland officiating.

Interment followed at Green Hill memorial Gardens under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Sapulpa.

Chill, 93 died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006 at Rainbow Nursing Home in Bristow. She was born Aug. 7, 1912 in Oklahoma.

She was a longtime Sapulpa resident and a retired waitress and seamstress.

Her husband, Al. Chill and daughters, Hazel Hood and LaJune Bruton preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Cecil Hood of Seminole and J.D. Hood of California; brother, Earl Morgan of California and four grandchildren.
