Ethel Darnell

Graveside services for former Seminole area resident Ethel Mae Darnell are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Rossville Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

The cemetery is located in Lincoln County. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Darnell, 93 of Bristow, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2006 at Rainbow Nursing Home in Bristow. She was born June 28, 1913 in San Saba, Texas to Reddick L. Arrant and Ivy Beanthey (Bridges) Arrant.

She lived in the Seminole area before moving to Shawnee, and later moved to Bristow.

Darnell was a seamstress by trade.

Her parents; one son, Helmuth Peace Jr., one great-granddaughter and one brother, Virgil Ray Arrant preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Merion Peace of Checotah and Melvin Ray Peace of Morristown, Ariz.; three daughters, Laura "Bennie" Pattison of Checotah, Della Mae Milner of Bristow and Lois Corene Johnson of Oklahoma City; 15 children, 42 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren.

Kenneth Darr

Longtime Seminole resident Kenneth Dale Darr passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at the age of 53 at Seminole Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 20, 1953, to Roy Eugene and Georgia Mae (Burkhart) Darr in Seminole.

Kenneth was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.

A graduate of New Lima High School, he was a hard worker and valued employee of Don Ellis Engine Service and an avid car enthusiast.

He loved his family deeply and was an inspiration to all that met and knew him.

He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed and fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara Ann Jackson Darr, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly Amanda "Mandy" Darr and Ashley Darr, both of the home; mother-in-law, Doris Jackson of Seminole; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Peggy Darr of Noble, Gary and Kellie Darr, Mineral Wells, Texas, Alan and Lisa Darr and Tim and Debbie Darr, all of Seminole; one brother-in-law, Johney Jackson and wife, Vera, of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Linda Jackson, Oklahoma City, Shirely Jackson Clute and husband John and daughter, Sierra, of Lakewood, Colo.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of other family and friends also survive him.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Highway Baptist Church with Mike Raines and Carl Whitfield officiating.

Pallbearers will include Val Harmon, Mike Brown, John Gosa, Chris Darr, Dusty Darr and Trey Darr.

Alta Jewel Davis

Funeral services for Seminole resident Alta Jewel Davis are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Wewoka.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Alta passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006 at the age of 85 years. She was born Jan. 28, 1921 in Wilson, Okla. to Joseph and Lillie (Dunigan) Hunt.

She attended Wilson Schools and was a member of Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church. She married Crawford Davis and was a homemaker.

Her parents, son, Jessie Davis and grandson, Heath Davis preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Crawford Davis of Seminole; sons and their wives, James and Wilma Davis and Crawford and Sandra Davis, all of Wewoka, Gary and Nancy Davis of Ardmore, Carolyn and Bob Camp of Wewoka, Linda and Mike Notz of Roswell, N.M. and sister, bertha Richardson of Texarkana, Texas.

Jack Davis

Funeral services for life long Seminole resident Jack Davis are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Danny Grimms officiating.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, North of Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Jack passed away Saturday morning at Seminole Medical Center after a lengthily illness. He was born on May 22, 1919 to Claud and Dessie Byers Davis.

Jack joined the Civilian Conservation Comp when he was 19 years old. He worked a year driving heavy equipment building roads in Colorado.

Jack married Maxine Curtess Castleberry on May 2, 1942.

Six months later Jack left for the Army, he was sent to Miami Beach, Fla. for basic training, Maxine soon followed. They spent three months there, he then was sent to Lincoln, Neb.

He left for overseas duty in September of that year. Jack spent time in England then was sent to Iceland where he spent the remainder of his time there.

He was discharged in December of 1945 and returned to Seminole to meet his wife who was coming in from California where she had been working as a welder in the Kaiser shipyard.

Jack went to work soon after for Canadian Valley Electric. He worked there 32 years ending up with the title of Right a Way Coordinator, during that time he also did Electrical work at nights and week ends.

In 1977 Jack left Canadian Valley to start his own Business "Jack Davis Electric". He owned and operated the business until his death.

He was a loving husband and father, always playing with grandchildren. In two weeks he would have had his first great grandson, Jaxson.

He leaves behind his wife, Maxine Davis of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sherry Davis and daughter, Pamela Kay Daniel; three sisters, Irene Henry of Stockton, Calif., Ida Willard of Red Oak and Rachel Dye of Oklahoma City and one brother, Lester Davis of Stockton, Calif.

His grandchildren, Zach Davis, Angela Davis, Brock Daniel, Nicole Davis Daniel and Randy Sigle and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him. Zach and his wife Amanda will be the parents of Jaxson Davis to be born in two weeks.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lydia Long of Modesto, Calif., Bertha Micheal of Stockton, Calif.; two brothers; Lee Davis of Seminole and Donald Davis of Stockton, Calif.

Jack was known and loved by many people.

Pallbearers will be; Zach Davis, Rick Davis, Randy Sigle, Blaine Janes, Dwane Crites, and Brock Daniel.

Honorary Bearers will be Dr. Robert Wieck, Paul Coots, Walter Sutton and Doc Duval, and Bob Snow.

Mavis Davis

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Mavis Harlene Davis were held today at 11:30 a.m. at Little Cemetery with Earl Scroggins officiating.

Services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Davis, 66, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 in Shawnee. She was born July 11, 1940 in Lane, Okla. to Hirum Lucius Bryant and Berniece Cleoeta Cramphin.

She moved to Seminole 13 years ago from Santa Rosa, Calif. and worked as a nurse’s aid at Pioneer Nursing Home and most recently at Rescare in Shawnee.

Davis was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Davis of Holdenville and Curtis Davis of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Kim McGinnis of Seminole; one sister, Teresa Hillstrom of San Antonio, Texas and 12 grandchildren.

Mollie Davis

Graveside services for longtime Wewoka resident are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Joe factor officiating.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Davis, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at Carl Albert Indian Hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1920 to Jimmy Davis and Nettie Bruner.

She attended school during her early years at Mekusukey Academy and was retired from Ben’s Restaurant.

Her parents, two sisters, Ella Mae Davis and Lucille Davis Lens preceded her in death.

Surviving are four nieces, Brenda King of Wewoka, Ella Lena White of Oklahoma City, Bonnie Lena of Panama City, Fla. and Wanda June Parks Coke and two nephews, Amos Lena of Bowlegs and Jimmy Lena of Seminole.

Myrtle Davis

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Myrtle Ellen Davis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Davis, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born June 17, 1919 in Desoto, Kan. to George Pinkney Davis and Flora Elizabeth (Bolinger) Davis.

She retired from Southwestern Bell following 30 years of service and then worked for seven years at the Wrangler plant in Seminole.

Davis was a member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Her parents; sisters, Helen Wallis, Novena Davis, Marie Davis, Georgia Sipes and Rebecca Hayden and brothers, William Davis, Floyd Davis, Raymond Davis and Fred Davis.

Surviving is her brother Thomas Davis of College Station, Texas.

Roger Davis

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Roger Daniel Davis are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Wewoka.

Rev. Earlis Bert, Sr., St. Stephens Baptist Church is to officiate. Interment is to follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Myers Mortuary.

Davis, 88, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born July 16, 1917 in Yeager to Warren Davis, Sr. and Rosetta Eliza Jefferson.

They moved to Wewoka and set up residency during his childhood. Davis worked for Consumer Oil for 15 years and was a member of Scipio Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F.D. Cochran, Sr.

His parents, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife Rosetta Eliza Davis of the home; son, Freddy Davis, Sr. of Oklahoma City and a host of grandchildren.

Sue Ann Davis

Funeral services for Sue Ann Davis are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Wake services are scheduled for Friday from 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. at the Rock Springs Baptist Church, Sasakwa.

Interment will follow services at the Rock Springs Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Davis, 34 of Oklahoma City, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born on Oct. 29, 1971 to Emily (Samuels) and Homer Davis in Lawton. She was a dietary aid.

Her brother, John Davis and paternal and maternal grandparents, Quanita and George Davis and Joel and Edna Samuels preceded her in death.

She is survived by her mother and father, Emily and Homer Davis, (formerly of Seminole); one son, Terry McBride; three daughters, Samantha Ann Davis, Emily Dawn Davis and Heather McBride; brother, Steven Dewayne Davis and sister, Kimberly Davis, all of Midwest City.

Casket Bearers will be Anthony Davis, Bobby Fortner, Glen Davis, Jr., Homer Davis, Jordan Fortner, and Jonas Jacob. Honorary Bearers will be Bobby Lee Fortner, Andrew Salaar, and John Wesley Davis.
