Edna Knight

Graveside services for Wewoka resident Edna Eugenia Knight were held today at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Justice Perry officiating.

Services were under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Knight, 93, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 in Seminole. She was born July 25, 1913 in McAlester to Stonewall J. and Effie (Luna) Spurrier.

The family moved to Wewoka from Canadian, Okla. On April 21, 1938 she married Clyde Knight in Holdenville. She was a homemaker raising three children.

Her parents, husband and son, Lilburn Knight preceded her in death.

Surviving is her son, Rex D. Knight of Texas; daughter, Shelva and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Carolyn Kolander

A memorial service for longtime Seminole resident Carolyn Sue Kolander has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Roy Robertson is to officiate and services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Kolander, 55, died Wednesday, July 26, 2006. She was born on Dec. 24, 1950 in Seminole to Floyd L. and Eula L. (Vincent) Smith.

She married John Kolander on March 8, 1966 in Seminole.

Her parents and one brother, Leonard Smith, preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; two sons, Johnny Kolander and David Kolander, both of Seminole; one daughter, Carol Little of Seminole; two brothers, Billy D. Smith of Seminole and Larry D. Smith of Dover, Okla.; three sisters, Wanda L. Wagstaff of Chandler, Judy A. Smith of Seminole and Patsy J. Moore of North Richland Hills, Texas and three grandchildren.

Michael Wayne Krause

Funeral services for Bowlegs resident Michael "Mikey" Wayne Krause are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Bowlegs.

Bro. Rick Harrison is to officiate with interment to follow in Vamoosa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Mikey passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006 at his home at the age of 41. He was born Jan. 19, 1964 in Holdenville to William Delmon Krause and Belva Jean (Gaines) Krause.

He married Karen Sue Yancey on July 3, 1982 at First Baptist Church of Bowlegs.

Mikey was an electrician for Dolin Electric and attended the Baptist church.

His father, grandparents and a niece, Brooklyn Krause preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of the home; mother Belva Jean Krause of Bowlegs; two daughters, Wendy Marie Krause and Whitney Dawn Krause, both of the home; two brothers, Cris Krause and wife Jo of Austell, Ga. and Karl Krause and wife Cindy of Wewoka; one sister, Beth Haws and husband Brian of Bowlegs; five nieces and one nephew.

Pallbearers for the services will be Gary Mainord, James Batesel, Steve Roberson, Dave Adams, Beauford Harvey and Nash Harjo.

Honorary bearers will be Charles "Ray" Troglin, Frankie Batesel, Curtis Lewis, Mickey Ashby and Merrick Ashby.

Odell Kymes

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, Odell Dryden Kymes, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Andy Young officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral service of Woodward.

Odell Dryden Kymes, 92-year-old Woodward resident, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at the Woodward regional Hospital. She was born March 30, 1914 in Okemah to Ike and Roxie (Orr) Eidson.

She grew up in the Okemah area and in 1934, was married to Oather James Dryden. They made their home in Cromwell and later, in Wewoka. Mr. Dryden died in 1972.

In 1984, Odell married Harrison Kymes and they continued to reside in Wewoka. Mr. Kymes died in 1990 and two years later, Odell made her home in Woodward to be near her sons.

Odell attended the Assembly of God Church in Woodward and she was known for her love and excellence in cooking.

Her parents, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Harold and Leah Dryden and Joe and Sandy Dryden, all of Woodward; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Martha S. Lancaster

Funeral services for Seminole native Martha S. Lancaster are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Fisher Baptist Church.

Rev. Danny Lynchard is set to officiate, and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Lancaster, 45, died Friday, April 7, 2006, in Tulsa.

She was born Jan. 13, 1961, in Seminole, to Kenneth and Barbara (Anglin) Mendenhall.

She grew up in Seminole and graduated from Seminole High School, then attended college for a couple of years.

On April 20, 2002, she was united in marriage to David Lancaster of Seminole.

She was a homemaker and a member of Fisher Baptist Church.

Lancaster moved to Sand Springs from Ft. Worth, Texas, in 2002.

She enjoyed caring for elderly people, her two dachshunds, quilting, and playing the piano at her church in Ft. Worth.

She is survived by her husband of the home in Sand Springs; her parents, of Seminole; two stepdaughters, Jackie Lancaster and Vanessa Lancaster, both of Sand Springs; two stepsons, George Lancaster of Tulsa and Jose Lancaster, serving with the U.S. Marines in Okinawa; one sister, Kathy Trammel, of Kingston; a brother, Robert Mendenhall, of Pensacola, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Lora Lansdowne

Funeral services for Bowlegs resident Lora Lansdowne will be held at Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, New York at her request.

The time of services is to be determined at a later date.

Lansdowne, 79, passed away in the evening of Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 20, 1927 in Taylor, New York.

Lora was a native of Cincinnetus, New York and graduated in 1945. The family moved to Seminole in 1965 and she worked for Blue Bell, Inc. and became an avid bowler for the ladies Blue Bell team.

Her husband, Leonard and her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving family includes son, Les Lansdowne and wife Teresa of Seminole; two grandchildren, Andrew Lansdowne of Seminole and Crissy Roberts of Carrolton, Texas’ her nephew, Howard Lansdowne and wife Virginia of Bowlegs; great-niece, Dana Holly of Seminole; one sister, Veronica Beckwith of Taylor, New York and one brother, Bud Kellogg of Virginia.

Kelli Larney

Graveside services for Seminole resident Kelli Dawn Larney were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Larney Family Cemetery with Rev. Redman Wolf officiating.

Services were under the direction of Stout-Philips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Larney, 33, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. She was born March 18, 1973 in Shawnee to William Roy and Sharletta Lea (Rich) Larney.

She attended Varnum Schools and worked at Wal-Mart. Larney was of the Methodist faith.

Her mother, grandfather Alvin Rich and grandmother Serena Larney preceded her in death.

Surviving is her father, William Larney of Tulsa; three children, Sharlett Larney, Charles Larney and Christian Larney; two sisters, Karla Sesher and Coquesa Larney, both of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Darrin Lagrone and William Larney, Jr., both of Oklahoma City and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers for the services were Irby Larney, Randolph Larney, David Walker, Gregory Jones, Harold Walker and Gerald Williams.

Shirley Laster

Funeral services for former Maud resident Shirley Joann (Palmer) Laster are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.

Rev. James Williams is to officiate and interment is to follow at Wolf Cemetery. Viewing is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. today and until 12 p.m. on Wednesday.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Laster, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at Coalgate Hospital in Coalgate. She was born July 11, 1936 in Maud to Jesse Lee Palmer and Mary Jane (Robertson) Palmer.

She graduated from Maud High School in 1954 and went on to receive her associate’s degree in college.

On Aug. 29, 1962 she married Willard T. "Dub" Laster in Sapulpa. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Coalgate.

Her parents; three brothers, T.B. "T. Boy" Palmer, J.P. Palmer and R.C. Palmer; and one infant sister, R.G. Palmer preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the Coalgate home; one daughter, Leslie Denise Martin of Coalgate; two sons, Will "Eddie" Laster of Coalgate and Stanley Alan "Stan" Laster of Stringtown, Okla.; one brother, Clinton L. "Chick" Palmer of Wolf; one sister, Laverne Swarb of Monahans, Texas; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Casket bearers will be Stan Laster, Eddie Laster, Gary Martin, Chris McCoy, John Dickinson and Jacob Laster. Honorary bearers will be Lori Laster, Erica Dickinson and Shelby Austin.

Clara Jo Lawrence

Friends of the Lawrence family are asked to come celebrate the life of our beloved Clara Jo. She passed away on Dec. 13, 2006.

Services will be held at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Wewoka on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Clara Jo was born on March 15, 1932 in Pauls Valley to Dave and Clara (Williams) Moody.

She graduated Pauls Valley High School in 1950 and married David "Buck" Lawrence on Aug. 6, 1954. They moved to Wewoka in 1961.

Clara Jo and Buck had three children: Keith Lawrence, Karen Lawrence Morrison and Becky Lawrence Pelton.

She worked as a telephone operator, grocery checker and owned an answering service.

Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles, cooking and caring for her special dog, Reggie.

Clara Jo was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Wewoka, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." (Romans 12:15) describes Clara Jo as she touched many lives.

Her parents; her brother, Elmo Moody; her son, Keith and her daughter, Karen, precede her in death.

Clara Jo is survived by her husband Buck; her sisters, Loreen Jarrel and Lou Moody of Pauls Valley; her daughter, Becky and her husband Dennis; her four grandchildren, Kelli Cunningham and her husband Tom of Norman, Jeremiah Morrison and his wife Christian of Kiowa, Ross Pelton and Rachel Pelton, and one great-grandson, Levi Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in her name to the First Free Will Baptist Church of Wewoka.
