Willie Nipper

Funeral services for Earlsboro resident Willie Nipper are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Baptist Church.

Rev. Bythel Friend will officiate with Bro. Tim Emmons to assist. Interment is to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Nipper died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 in Ada Hospital at the age of 84. He was born Aug. 17, 1921 in Prague to Clarence A. and Zella (Licklider) Nipper.

On July 8, 1939 he married Rosa Belcher and was a dairy farmer and member of Fairview Baptist Church for 57 years.

His parents, wife, twin granddaughters Billie Sue and Terrie Lou Bennett, his brother Howard Nipper and his sister Wilma Montegomery preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Zeta and Ron Carty, Wynonia and Dean Bennett and Zelda and Gwin Prather, all of Earlsboro; seven grandchildren, Cody Bennett, Lee Ann Bourland, Bobby Bennett, Rose Fulton, Mamie Shannon, Angie Price and Alan Prather; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Melba and Robert Buoy and Mabel and J.H. Uldrich, and sister-in-law Lorene Nipper, all of Prague; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson, Mary Strong and Dorothey Sanders and one brother-in-law Harvey Belcher survive him.

Velma Nitzel

Graveside services for Velma M. Nitzel of Oklahoma City were held at 10 a.m. this morning at Rest Haven Gardens, Oklahoma City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Nitzel died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the age of 84. She was born Feb. 17, 1922 in Spain, S.D. as the youngest of four children to Fred and Lilly (Peters) Fitzgerald.

Early in her life the family moved to Washington, where she grew up.

During World War II while working as a switchboard operator she met Robert Nitzel at a USO dance. The two were married on Valentine’s Day in 1945.

They moved to Oklahoma City in 1946 and have made their home in the same location for the past 60 years.

Nitzel was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed animals and working in her yard.

Her parents; three brothers, Bernard, Austin and Clarence Fitzgerald; sister, Portia and son, marlin Bruce "Bud" Nitzel preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; daughter, Lil Hays of Seminole; son, Mike Nitzel; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Florence May Norman

Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Florence May Norman are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the Assembly of God Church in Sasakwa.

Rev. Wesley Martin is set to officiate, and interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, northeast of Konawa.

Norman died at her home in Holdenville on Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2006, at the age of 92.

She was born on Sept. 26, 1913, in Red Oak, to Alfred and Mary Ellen (Speir) Dearborn.

She was raised in the Holdenville area, and married David "Pete" Norman on Feb. 16, 1932, in Wewoka.

After marrying, Pete and Florence Norman moved to Sasakwa, where they raised their family.

In 1982, Norman moved to Holdenville area with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Huff of Holdenville; a son, J.B. Norman, of Mena, Ark.; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Earlene North

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Earlene North are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of Christ in Little with Rusty Dawson officiating.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

North, 81, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 5, 1924 in Seminole County to Ethel (McDaniel) Hart.

Ethel was a graduate of Varnum High School and was an avid basketball fan and an honorary FFA member from Strother School.

She married Ray North and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1998.

Ethel was a homemaker and loving mother. She worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator for nearly 20 years. She loved her church and her grandchildren.

She was a very strong community supporter for the Little/Strother area, active in the Democratic National Committee and active on the election board.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Dee North of Luling, La., Joe and Kay North of Ft. Smith, Ark. and Ray Jr. and Vicky North of Little; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Don Anderson of Little; two brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmie Hart of Blanchard and Gene and Patty Hart of Enid and one sister, Willa Snider of Oklahoma City.

In addition, eight grandchildren, Shannon and Cary Morgan, April North and Eric Gray, Randy and Jessica North, Travis and Janna Montgomery, January and Blake Hightower, Ray Hugh and Lori North III and Melissa North and two great-grandchildren, Taryn and Turner Morgan, also survive her.

Casket bearers for the services will be Ted North, Robert North, Greg Robl, Travis Montgomery, Randy North, Ray North III, Jim Criswell, Cary Morgan, Keith Grissom and Blake Hightower.

Jimmy Novotny

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Jimmy Joseph Novotny are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Prague with Father Joe Knight officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Novotny died on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006 at the age of 65. He was born on April 22, 1941 to Charlie Joseph and Jewel Marie (Janota) Novotny.

His parents, one brother, John Novotny and sister, Betty Ann Novotny preceded him in death.

He is survived by his former wife, Linda Novotny-Barnes of Seminole; son, Jimmy Joseph Novotny, Jr. of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Brenda Dulaney and Kellie Jo Novotny both of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Donnie Novotny of Seminole and Frank Novotny of Shawnee; five sisters, Dorothy Kroos of Prague, Louise Wilkerson of Meeker, Nancy Cagle of Shawnee, Jeannie Quary of Meeker and Jane McGill of Prague; and three grandchildren.

Bryce O’Guinn

Funeral services for Wewoka native Bryce J. O’Guinn are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Baptist Church with Rev. L.E. Oliver officiating.

Burial is to follow at Westwood Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

O’Guinn, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at the age of 31 years. He was born Feb. 10, 1075 in Wewoka to Melvin and Rosetta (Toles) O’Guinn.

Bryce attended Washington Elementary, Shawnee Jr. High and Shawnee High School. He was a maintenance technician for the citizen Potawatomi Nation.

On Feb. 6, 1997 he married Serreta A. Napoleon in Shawnee.

He loved working on cars and putting models together with his two sons.

His grandfather, Olean O’Guinn and his grandmother, Laura Phillips preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Serreta O’Guinn of Shawnee; two sons, Diontre’ K. O’Guinn and Anthony K. O’Guinn, both of Shawnee; parents, Melvin and Rosetta O’Guinn of Shawnee; sister, Natika O’Guinn and her son, Ta’Sean Hishaw of Shawnee; brother, James Toles of Wewoka; brother-in-law and sister in-law, Robert and Maxine Napoleon of Brooksville; nephews, Joshua Nickolas and Braden Napoleon, of Brooksville; niece, Courtney Toles of Wewoka; father- and mother-in-law, Bobby and Kay Napoleon of Shawnee; grandmother, Thirkield O’Guinn of Wewoka and a host of other relatives and friends.

Michael O’Hagan

Funeral services for Seminole resident Michael Kevin O’Hagan will be scheduled at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

O’Hagan, 41, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006 in Seminole. He was born March 14, 1965 in Oklahoma City to Eugene Levern and Marilyn Charlene (Ripley) O’Hagan.

He spent most of his life in Midwest City and had recently moved to Seminole.

O’Hagan had completed the 7th grade but was able to turn his life around and become a CAN to help others.

On May 7, 1982 he married Sharon Lynn Whiteside and he liked to fish and hunt.

He also enjoyed his family and doing things with them.

His parents and grandmother, Margaret Lawrence, preceded him n death.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon O’Hagan of the home; two daughters, Crystal R. O’Hagan-Goodell of Seminole and Vanessa L. O’Hagan of the home; sisters, Gena Jones of Shawnee and Lesa Price of Texas; brother, Bobby Cornett of Midwest City and two grandchildren.

Goldie Olden

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Goldie Mae Olden are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka with Rev. F.D. Cochran of Thomastown Baptist Church to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Thomastown Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Myers Mortuary, Wewoka.

Olden, 73, died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 4, 1932 in Sasakwa to Jessie and Bessie (Davis) Freeman.

She received her education at Thomas Chapel School, Sasakwa, Wewoka, Douglas High and Lima High schools.

Olden was a member of Thomastown Baptist Church and has lived all her life in Seminole County.

She also attended Gordon Cooper Technology Center and graduated as an LPN in 1976. Olden was employed at New Horizons Nursing Home.

In addition, Olden worked at various nursing home facilities in the surrounding area.

Her parents, husband and three children preceded her in death.

Surviving are sons, Robert Pearson of Lawton and Tommy Olden of Wewoka; daughters, Betty Cudjo of Bartlesville, Mary Olden of Wewoka, Judy James of Oklahoma City and Nita Jo Shaw of Oklahoma City; sister, Ruby Bruce of Kansas City, Kan. and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hazel Ruth Olsen

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Hazel "Ruth" Olsen are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka with Rev. Michael Vallandingham officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Olsen passed away at her Wewoka home on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the age of 78. She was born Aug. 15, 1927 to Charlie and Lula Cargill Lyon in Cully, Okla.

She attended school in Cully until the fourth grade, then moved to Sasakwa and graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1945.

Olsen went to work at the Seminole County Clerk’s office in 1946 and worked for five years before working at the county assessor’s office for 12 years.

She went to work for Redland Headstart and earned an associate’s degree from Seminole State College and attended East Central University.

Olsen then returned to work at the clerk’s office, where she retired in 1989. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wewoka.

On June 6, 1949 she married Oley Olesen and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2002.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lenita Olsen of Wewoka and Tim and Regina Olsen of Seminole; four grandchildren, Stephanie Jackson and husband Antonie, Kelley Olsen, Lauren Olsen and Matthew Olsen; two great-grandchildren, Alex Jackson and Aaron Jackson and one sister, Bobbie Upton of Seminole.

Pallbearers will be David Lyon, Larry Upton, Keith Upton, Mike Upton, Mickey Upton, Ken Harrod, Greg Upton, Bryan Lyon, Mike Morgan and Cullen Harod.

Honorary bearers will be Durwood Tucker, Earnest Moore, John Sircy, Billy Brown, Barry Tucker, Mike Ervin, Dwight Smith and Ronnie Fields.
