C. Jean Parsons

Graveside services for lifelong Seminole resident C. "Jean" Parsons are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with rev. Larry Chesser officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Parsons, 77, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Seminole Estates Nursing Center. She was born March 14, 1929 in Morris, Okla. to Hugh and Adda Mae (Tunnin) Cornelison.

On Aug. 26, 1960 she married Joel T. Parsons and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2005. She was a homemaker.

Her son, Keith Parsons also preceded her in death.

Surviving is son, Gale Parsons of Seminole; daughter, carol Ann Lange of Pierce, Idaho; brother, Claude Cornelison of Seminole; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

James Payne

Graveside services for longtime Konawa resident James "Jim" O. Payne were held today at 2:30 p.m. at Vamoosa Cemetery with Rev. Mitch Williams officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Payne, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon. He was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Seminole County to Dewey M. Payne and Oma (Coffee) Payne.

He worked as a seismographer for many years after serving in the United States Air Force. He was an airman first class and received an honorable discharge on Jan. 23, 1954.

His parents, two brothers, Eugene and Carl Payne and three sisters, Gladys Overetny, Artie Turnbow and Patsy Hadley preceded him in death.

Surviving is one son, Jimmy D. Payne and one daughter, Lisa Payne, both of Florida; one brother, Verlin Payne of Burleson, Texas and three sisters, Beatrice Mason of Grand Prairie, Texas, Lucille Thomas of Arlington, Texas and Loraine Loftin of Hurst, Texas.

J.C. Pemberton

Funeral services for former Maud resident J.C. Pemberton are scheduled for 2 p.m. at Bethany First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Mercer-Adams Funeral Services of Bethany.

Pemberton died Wednesday, April 26, 2006. He was born March 24, 1926 in Marshall, Ark. to Charles and Ella (Horton) Pemberton.

He joined the United States Navy in March 1944 and served until 1947, where he completed his high school education.

Pemberton loved flying and obtained a private pilot’s license after leaving the service.

He was an ordained deacon, a social studies teacher and a truck driver for Transcon Freight Lines.

Pemberton drove several million accident-free miles and retired in 1989 after 35 years of driving.

He and his wife moved to Maud and lived there for 30 years, thoroughly enjoying country life. He loved to hunt, fish and raise cattle.

His parents; one infant son and two brothers, L.D. (Devon) and Charles Pemberton preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife, Norma F. Knowles Pemberton; two sons, Rodney and Roy Pemberton; brother, Darrell Pemberton; sister, Berthell Stephenson and six grandchildren.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, that donations please be made to Hospice of Oklahoma County.

Carlc Pennington

Funeral service for former Wewoka resident Carlc Pennington are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Quale United Methodist Church with Bishop Warren, officiating.

Interment is to follow at Westwood Cemetery, Wewoka, at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of Temple and Son Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Pennington, 80, died Sunday, May 21, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Jan. 2, 1926 in Wewoka to Caldwell and Captiolar Pennington.

He graduated from Douglass High School in 1944 and had served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Pennington also graduated from Langston University and was a member of Kappa Psi Alpha fraternity.

He was a member of Quale United Methodist Church and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 35 years of service.

Pennington won may honors playing golf.

His parents and wife, Willie Mae Pennington, preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Carlc Pennington, Jr. and Barry Pennington of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Margie Pennington of Wewoka, Gwen Morris of Oklahoma City and Stella Rhine of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Belva Pennokee

Funeral services for former Seminole county Resident Belva Jean Pennokee are scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

A wake will be held at the Glorieta Baptist Church in Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. tonight and again at the Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Eugene Harjo and Jimmy Murphy will be officiating the funeral services Thursday.

Interment will follow at the Wilson Family Cemetery under the direction of the Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Belva died at the age of 53 Sunday at her residence in Oklahoma City. She was born April 2, 1952 in Wewoka to Richmond and Virginia (Wolfe) Pennokee.

Belva was a loving homemaker and a member of the Glorieta Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ramona Stewart and Susan Cardoza; and two brothers, Homer Lee and Don Ray Pennokee.

Bleva is survived by three brothers, Richard Pennokee and his wife Jana of Tulsa, Gary Pennokee and his wife Cynde of Oklahoma City, and Nathan Pennokee and his wife Ann of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Rachel Pennokee, and Nancy Musser and her Husband George, all of Oklahoma City; special nieces and nephews, Alicia and David Delana, Monica and Zac Stewart, Gabriel and Christina Cardoza, and Johnny Cardoza; and great nieces and nephews, Zeke, Noah, Ciana, Ethan, Hope, and Esiah.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zac Tom, David Fields, Everett Houck, Joey Pennokee, Gabriel Cardoza and Johnny Cardoza. Honorary pallbearers will be Zeke Bitseedy, Noah Delana, Josh Wynot, and Thomas Patton.

George Penuel

Former longtime Seminole resident George Penuel went to live with the Lord on Sept. 11, 2006, at the age of 84.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1921 in Emprise City, Okla., to Melford and Katie Helen (Powell) Penuel.

He lived in Seminole for 65 years and worked in the oilfied before moving to Shawnee in 1987.

He is survived by his wife Betty of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law; Leon and Joyce of Longview, Texas; one sister; Elizabeth Moss of Seminole; one sister-in-law, Norma Penuel of Seminole; two step-sons, Don and his wife Linda Gober of Seminole and Roger Gober of Seminole.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Susan Lewellen of Mustang, LuAnne Langwell of Holdenville, Cynthia Grove of New Braunfels, Texas, Paul Penuel of Longview, Texas, and Kenneth Penuel of Seminole.

Grandchildren include Stacy Gober and Brian and his wife Lisa Gober, stepgrandchildren Sara, Amy, Brenda, Linda and Ojeda; great-grandchildren Micheal, Courtney, Brandy, Angela, and Katrina; and stepgreat-grandchildren Christine, Mathew, Alisha, Casey and Emily.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Penuel; and two brothers, Kenneth and Walter Penuel.

Jonas Perry

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Jonas Edward Wayne Perry were held today at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home with Houston Tiger officiating.

Interment followed at the Harjo Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Perry, 54, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at Lindsay, Okla. He was born June 26, 1951 in Bokoshe to Sidney and Sally (Johnson) Perry.

He lived in Lexington, Okla. and worked as a construction worker. Perry married Karen Harjo.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving is his wife of Seminole; three sons, Aaron, Ronald and Kevin Harjo, all of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Carey Perry, Andrea Perry and Joanna Harjo, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Dan Perry of Arkansas; two sisters, Betty Perry of Arkansas and Peggy Leflore of Oklahoma City and 16 grandchildren.

Richard Perryman

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Richard Lee Perryman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, Mo.

Rev. Stan Hargis is to officiate with burial to follow at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

Services are under the direction of Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel.

Perryman, 70 of Benton, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Nacona, Texas to Raymond Burk and Ireta Margarit Crawford Perryman.

On Oct. 19, 1968 he married Juanita Tinsley in Cape Girardeau. She died on May 15, 1992.

Perryman had been a route salesman with Tom’s and was a member of Eagle Aerie 3775 in Cape Girardeau and Elks Lodge 2652 in Jackson.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

His parents and a brother preceded him in death.

Surviving is a son, Richard Perryman Jr. of Cape Gerardeau; daughter, Nancy Jo Mullins of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; a special partner, Dorothy Welker of Benton; two granddaughters; two brothers, Don and Ron Perryman and sister, Janie Goostree.

Cynthia Peterson

Funeral services for Strother teacher Cynthia Ann (Troutman) Peterson were held at 2 p.m. today at the Prague United Methodist Church with Rev. Dyton L. Owen officiating and Bro. Tim Emmons assisting.

Interment is to follow at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Park Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Cindy was born at Homestead Air Force Base, Fla. on July 20, 1957 and departed this life in Prague on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. She was 49 years of age.

She was the daughter of Clifton B. Troutman and Jerry L. (Ream) Troutman.

Cindy graduated from Prague High School with the class of 1975 and then she earned a teaching certificate after graduation with a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1979.

Following her graduation from OSU she began her teaching career in the fall of 1979 at Strother Public Schools. She taught kindergarten and pre-kindergarten continuously at Strother until her death.

She also earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Cindy was a member of the Prague United Methodist Church.

Her father and both grandfathers preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Kristen and Billy Rusk of Meeker and Kacey Harris of Prague; two sons, Scott McLaughlin and Tanner Peterson, both of Prague; her mother, Jerry Troutman of Prague; two sisters, Cathy Hall of Prague and Susan Riordan of Seguin, Texas; maternal grandmother, Flora Ream of Moore; paternal grandmother, Berneice Troutman of Durant and four grandchildren, Lauryn and Taryn Rusk of Meeker and Bailey and Cooper Harris of Prague.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Tanner Peterson Education Fund, c/o BancFirst, Drawer R, Prague, OK 74864.
