Annie Vee Shaw

Funeral services for longtime Konawa resident Annie Vee "Anna" Shaw are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Konawa.

Rev. Pam Shirk is to officiate with interment to be at Vista Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Shaw, 86, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Ballard Nursing Center, Ada. She was born Sept. 10, 1919 in Derick, Ark. to Andrew Hale and Myrtle (Jackson) Hale.

On May 30, 1936 she married Ellis H. Shaw in Konawa and was a beautician for over 40 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Konawa.

Her parents, one daughter, Annie Taylor, four brothers and six sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; three daughters, Loretta Branscum of Duncan, Paula Gallagher of Konawa and Kay West of Seminole; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Randy Taylor, Jamie Branscum, Mark Shaw, Bill Frankovich, Shawn Spencer and Brandon Gallagher.

Sadie Shaw

Graveside services for Seminole County resident Sadie Shaw are scheduled for Thursday at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette, Okla. with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Shaw, a longtime Shawnee resident, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006 at the age of 96 at her Earlsboro home. She was born March 26, 1910 in Ravia, Okla. to Claude and Ora (Thomlinson) Renfro.

She moved to Seminole County in 2001 and was a licensed daycare owner for many years in Shawnee.

Her husband, Thomas Shaw (1974) and one son, Carl J. Renfro (2001) preceded her in death.

Surviving are two grandsons, James Renfro of Earlsboro and Carl D. Renfro of Paris, Texas and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service will be James Renfro, Carl Renfro, Tim Hale, Sinis Hale, Tommy Hale and Danny Cramer.

Sharon Shaw

Private family funeral services are planned for longtime Seminole resident Sharon Sandra Shaw under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Shaw died in Wewoka on Saturday, March 18, 2006, at the age of 69 years.

She was the daughter of Melvin Sarrat and Pearl (Carmel) Sarrat, born on May 7, 1936, in Shawnee.

She was brought up in the Seminole area and attended Seminole High School.

She was married to Shirley Augusta Shaw at Seminole, on Nov. 23, 1952.

With the exception of a few years in Texas, they lived all their lives in Seminole.

Three months short of 49 years together, Shaw’s husband died on Feb. 22, 2001.

Shaw was an artist and loved to paint and draw; she loved to play the piano and very much enjoyed crocheting and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two grandchildren, Valerie Clark in 1980 and Brandon Campbell in 2002.

She is survived by two daughters, JoLynn Clark, Holdenville, and Carrie Streode, Kingston; five grandchildren and nine grandchildren.

Jayce Ray Sheffield

Funeral service for Wewoka Elementary student Jayce Ray Sheffield are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka, with interment at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Jayce Ray Sheffield left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on April 5, 2006, two days after his 12th birthday. He was born April 3, 1994 to Tony and Paige (Patterson) Sheffield.

Jayce attended Wewoka Public Schools and was currently in the sixth grade at the Wewoka Middle School.

He loved sports of all kinds and had participated in Little League football and the school basketball team for several years. He had played baseball since the age of five and served as batboy for the All-Star team last summer and water boy for the high school football team this past fall.

Jayce loved to follow the Wewoka High School basketball team and watch them play. He played the drums in the school band for the last two years.

Jayce also had been riding steers on Sunday afternoon trying to perfect the sport of rodeo.

He was a member of Cub Scout Pack #426 for five years, crossing over last May into the Boy Scout Troop #426.

Jayce accepted Jesus Christ into his heart on May 23, 2004 at the age of 10 in the First Baptist Church of Wewoka and was baptized there one week later, on May 30.

He truly loved the Lord as he prayed so many prayers each day and read in his Cowboy Bible each night. He loved God and his country and prayed for the soldiers at war.

Jayce is survived by his parents and sister, Tara, of the home; his brother and sister-in-law, Joshua and Wendi Sheffield of Moore; grandparents, Ray and Delores Sheffield and Bob and Jackie Patterson of Wewoka and great-grandmother Lucille Dillon of Ada.

In addition, his uncles and aunts Jim and Darlene Allison, Trent and Danielle Patterson, all of Wewoka, Sharon Patterson of Madill, Pat Ware of Tulsa, Mike and Lisa Patterson of Durant, Tracy Patterson of Norman, Ben and Jeanie Butts of Oklahoma City, Tony and Lynne Beeson of Tulsa, and Manny and Anne Sanchez of Yukon; cousins Preston and Jordan Patterson, of Norman, Trenton, Triston and Treyton Patterson of Wewoka, Makenzie Patterson, Sarah Beeson, Anne Take of Norman, Abbey Take of Tulsa, Zachary and Grace Sanchez of Yukon, Alex and Zoe Butts of Oklahoma City, Ronnie and Misty, and MacKenzie Allison of Seminole, Bradley Stockstill of Mounds and Sarah and Matt Goodwin of Boston, survive him.

Jayce’s grandmother Diane Dillon Patterson preceded him in death as well as half-brother, Jerid Ray Sheffield.

Pallbearers are to be Darrel Brown, Shane Hodgins, Rip Garcia, Berto Massey, Tony Knox, Steve Boots, Heath O’Daniel, and Reggie Wright.

Honorary pallbearers include Jayce’s Seminole Yankee baseball teammates: Connor Boots, Blade Knox, Stefan Wright, Tyler O’Daniel, Cache Graham, McKinley Jones, Mathews Palmer, Garrett Clark, and Michael Osborn and the members of the 6th grade basketball team: Jalen Johnson, Blade Knox, Trent Miller, Prentiss Perry, Jeremy Reynolds, Devin Williams, Tyler Wills, and Coach Stephanie White.

Dale Shelton

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Dale Austin Shelton are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery with Rev. Bill Chesser officiating.

Services are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Shelton, 50, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 in Holdenville. He was born Sept. 10, 1956 in Oklahoma City to Bobby Lee and Theo Christene (Hawkins) Shelton.

He has lived in various parts of Oklahoma, including Tulsa, Seminole, Oklahoma City and then Holdenville for the past eight years.

Shelton has worked as a welder and a heavy equipment operator. He was also a stained glass craftsman.

His mother preceded him in death.

Surviving is his father and stepmother, Bobby Lee and Elizabeth Shelton of Seminole; brother, Larry Shelton of Seminole and sister, Courtney Lee Wyrick of Seminole.

Sylvia Shelton

Funeral services for Wewoka resident Sylvia (Hulsey) Shelton are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Vanlandingham officiating.

Interment is to follow at Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Shelton, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 in Holdenville. She was born Dec. 12, 1023 in Beggs to Arthur Hulsey and Rosie Della (Stout) Smith.

She was a nurse’s aide at Holdenville Hospital for a number of years. Shelton was a member of Wewoka First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Her parents’ husband, David B. Shelton; brothers, Lee Hulsey and Gilbert Hulsey and sister, Mary Green preceded her in death.

Surviving is her daughter, Betty Shelton of Midwest City; sons, Wayne Cutting of Midwest City; Charles Cutting of Shawnee and David Shelton of Seminole; brother, Earnest Masters and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the services will be David Shelton, Charles Cutting and Wayne Cutting.

Martha Sherwood

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Martha Kay "Gussy" Sherwood are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole.

Rev. Joseph Factor is to officiate with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Sherwood, 50, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Carl Albert Hospital in Ada. She was born Aug. 31, 1955 in Seminole to Albert and Bertha (Douglas) Sherwood.

She was a certified nurse’s aide who had graduated from Tecumseh High School.

Her parents and two sisters, Shirley Cully and Ruby Biaze preceded her in death.

Surviving are two brothers, Ed Sherwood of Shawnee and Dwayne Culley of Harrah.

Pallbearers for the services will be John Coker, Dustin Sherwood, P. J. Houck, Edward Sherwood, Esteban Perez, and Phillip Cully. Honorary bearers will be Nathan Loper and Ed Sherwood.

Brailee Shook

Funeral services for Brailee Brianne Shook, the granddaughter of Seminole Schools Payroll Clerk Joy York, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Sayre First Baptist Church.

Andy Taylor, assisted by Larry Young and Gary Baird, is to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Lone Oak Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre.

Shook died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006 in Elk City at the age of one and one-half years old. She was born Dec. 9, 2004 in Oklahoma City to Shanna Joy and James L. Shook.

She was an active little girl who liked to play with her cats, baby dolls and her big brother. She enjoyed rides with her daddy in his jeep and four-wheeler, as well as rocking with her mother.

Her great-grandparents, A.L. Shook, Norman Todd, Buck and Dorothy York and Everett and Creda Miller preceded her in death.

Survivors include her parents, James and Shanna Shook; brother, Brody Shook and grandparents, Joy York of Shawnee, Vick and Barbara Miller of Sayre, Richard Shook Sr. of Elk City, Robby and Kathleen Westenhaver, Gertrude Todd and Eva Shook, all of Beaver.

Elwood Short

A memorial service for is scheduled for Wewoka resident Elwood Lanier Short are scheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at "Elwood’s Bar and Grill" east of Seminole on SH 9.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Short, 75, died May 11, 2006 at his home in Wewoka. He was born Nov. 8, 1930 in Roff, Okla. to parents, Owen Elwood Short and Winnie Florine (Whitaker) Short.

He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant. He was of the Baptist faith and had lived in Seminole County most of his life working as a driller and as a toolpusher in the oilfield until he retired in 2005.

Short then established "Elwood’s Bar and Grill" east of Seminole on SH 9 where he operated and bartended until his death.

His father; the mother of his children, Joyce Ellen Coats (also known as Karen Smith) on Dec. 10, 2005; ex-wife, Carol Short who died in 1989; two sons, Jummie Bert Short in 1962 and Allen Short in 1974; one daughter, Glenda Lamb in 1988; and two brothers, H.D. Short in 1996 and R.V. Short in 1960 preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Owen G. Short of Wewoka and Larry E. Short of Earlsboro; three daughters, Carolyn Haffey of Shawnee, Lacricia J. McAfee of McAlester and Gayla Harjo of Venita; two brothers, Con Short of Wewoka and Charles Short of Anson, Texas; three sisters, Coleen Shockey of Velma Ray, Texas, Ima Jean Nelson of Konawa and Lavonna B. of Benton, Texas; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with three on the way.
