Irene Evans

Graveside services for Seminole resident Irene Fairfax Evans are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with Rev. Glen Pence officiating.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Irene Fairfax Evans departed this life in Seminole on Nov. 5, 2007, at the age of 88 years. She was born on Dec. 7, 1918 in Tryon and is the daughter of Wilbur Garland and Mary Ann (Melchert) Haley.

She graduated from Carney High School in 1937. Irene married Leo "Pete" Wesley Evans on March 21, 1952 in Burlington, Colo.

She was a homemaker and master gardener. Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cortez, Colo.

Her parents and two brothers, Ira E, Howser and J.B. Howser preceded Irene in death.

Survivors include nieces and nephews: Daryl and Cheri Howser of Seminole, Jerrod and Tyler Howser of Stillwater, J.B. and Sondra Hoser of Oklahoma City, David Bryan Howser of Weatherford, Marvin Evans of Stroud, Lovita Brewer of Stroud and Alan and Sue Crump of Maumelle, Ark.; special friends, Jimmy and nelda Barnett of Albuquerque, N.M.; and other relatives and friends.

Gladys Farmer

Funeral Services for Seminole resident Gladys Marie Farmer are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Lee Lewis conducting services. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Farmer died on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Seminole Estates.

She was born on November 20 1919 in Bald Hill to Tom and Cora Nelon.

She was a graduate of Sasakwa High School and married Dick Townsend who was later killed in a tragic automobile accident years later, leaving the deceased a widow with one child at an early age.

She later married Lee Farmer of Atoka and had three more children.

Farmer and her husband owned a dairy in California from 1946 until she returned to Oklahoma in 1988.

She suffered the loss of her speech in 1995 following a stroke and was lovingly called "Ge Ge" by the staff who took care of her following her stroke.

Farmer remained active in the First Baptist Church and had many friends with whom she loved to play Spades.

She was a fun loving, generous person and will be solely missed by all who knew her.

Farmer is survived by three sons, bob Townsend, Coeur d’ Alene Idaho, Leroy Farmer, Wenatchee, Wash., Jerry Farmer, Seminole; one daughter, Kathy Lewis, Amsterdam, Mo.; one brother, Cecil nelon, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Polly Patterson, Lodi, Cali; Jo Marquis and Peggy Ja kson, Seminole.

She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Her brother Dale Nelon and sister Elena Tuttle preceded her in death.

Mary Farmer

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Mary "Lucilla" Farmer are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of Nazarene, Wewoka, with Rev. Meredith Robinson officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Mary Lucilla Farmer passed away on Tuesday. May 29, 2007 at Wewoka Nursing Center. She was born in Norman on May 28, 1908. She just celebrated her 99th birthday the day before on Memorial Day with many friends and family.

Her youngest sister, Agnes Lee Farmer, April 1, 2005, preceded her in death.

Her younger sister Neely May Farmer survives her, at 97 years of age.

Lucilla was raised in Stella, Okla., and moved to Wewoka in 1926 where she continued her education. All three sisters lived together in Wewoka for almost 80 years - except for they years Lucilla worked in Oklahoma City.

She was employed by the laundry and dry cleaners and also Rothschild’s.

Lucilla was a dedicated Christian and member of the Nazarene Church in Wewoka. She and her sisters rarely missed any services. Her love of Jesus Christ led her to write two books on Bible study and interpretation.

She could quote Bible verses for anyone who needed help, or to answer question about a Christian life and also taught Sunday school.

She was talented in sewing, cooking, and writing. She took a computer courses at the high school, at the age of 95 years to help her in her research and writing.

She was a loving sister and devoted Christian. The three sisters dedicated themselves to their cherished Mother’s care for many years.

Lucilla and her sisters had always been a symbol in the town of Wewoka and surrounding areas to loving, caring sisterhood-and a tribute to loyalty and faithfulness.

Bonnie Fidler

Funeral services for longtime Konawa resident Bonnie Pearl (Walton) Fidler were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church in Konawa. Interment followed at Konawa City Cemetery.

Rev. Steve Lawrence officiated the services, which were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Bonnie Pearl (Walton) Fidler, 76 years old, passed from this life Friday, March 16, 2007. She was born April 10, 1930 in Sasakwa to parents Chieftin Walton and Agnes Bell (Eaton) Walton.

Bonnie married Jarrett E. Fidler on Jan. 19, 1965 in Ada. She was a member of the Konawa First Assembly of God Church and was also a homemaker.

Both parents, her father, Chieftin Walton, her mother, Agnes Bell (Eaton) Walton-Chambers and her husband, Jarrett E, Fidler (Nov. 16, 2006) preceded her in death.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Everett J. Travels and his wife Donna of Romance, Ark., Rocky S. Travels and his wife Carlotta of Sasakwa, Tracy G. Fidler and his wife Michelle of Asher, Tony E. Fidler and his wife Debie of Ponca City and Terry E. Fidler and his wife Carla of Lexington, Okla.; three daughters, Bonnie Paullett "Pat" Travels of North Dakota, Ruth Ellen Andrews of Oklahoma City and Twyla Diana Cobbs of Yukon; one sister, Joyce Marie Jordan of Noble, Okla. and 19 grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be; Veldon Spicer, Eugene Spicer, Allen Prescott, Larry Schellenberger, Darrell Mackey and Preston Throckmorton.

James Fife

James Fife passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at his residence in Seminole, Okla., at the age of 93 years.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1913 in Seminole County to Phillip Fife and Anochee Tiger.

Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Tiger officiating.

Interment will be at the Ross Family Cemetery, north of Seminole, with full Military Honors.

James attended Prairie Valley School and Mekusukey Mission. He served in the 3rd Infantry Division as Sergeant during World War II.

He was a member with Wewoka Indian Baptist Church as deacon and acting pastor.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Addie, two brothers, Houston Ross and Archie Fife, two sisters, Munah Fife and Nora Fife Tiger, three nephews, Benny and Lloyd Tebe and Howard L. Tiger.

He is survived by one sister, Elsie Ross Spencer, Seminole, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Nathan Harjo, Sam Spencer, Brian Spencer, Stephen Spencer, Josh Lena, Simon Larney, Jeff Tiger and Cody Harjo.

Honorary bearers will be Winfred Fife, Cecil Larney, Bill Larney, Ryder Larney, Eli Holata, Roy Holata and Bobby Jack Spencer.

Elmer Findley

Funeral Services for Longtime Wewoka resident, Elmer Jason Findley, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Wewoka, with Rev. Michael Vanlandingham officiating.

Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Mr. Findley passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007 in Shawnee. He was born July 18, 1920 in Norwood, Mo., to Jason E. and Ora Calhoun Findley.

He graduated from Norwood High School in Norwood, Mo., and later attended college.

Elmer and Letha Catherine Hogan married March 29, 1942 in Hartville, Mo. He retired after 28 years with American Airlines as a mechanic.

Elmer served on the USS Robert E. Hopkins, USS Alcoa Pennant and USS William Byers with the United States Navy during World War II in the Philippines and Guam.

He received the Good Conduct medal; and the Asiatic, American, and European Theatre ribbons.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Wewoka and he loved to Golf, fish, and spend time with his grandsons.

Preceding him in death are his parents, son Elmer Richard Findley, brothers Ray and Paul Findley and sister Ruth Fabers.

Survivors include his wife, Letha Catherine Findley; grandsons, Mike Findley, Jo Don Findley, Shane Findley, and Aaron Findley; brother, Herbert Findley and great-grandchildren, Taron Findley, Triston Findley, Brayden Findley, Dalton Findley, Reagan Findley, Morgan Findley, Braxton Findley, and Christopher Findley.

Hester Fisher

Graveside services for former Asher resident Hester E. Fisher are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Vista Cemetery in Pottawatomie County.

Visitation for friends are scheduled for 5-7 p.m. tonight at Browning Funeral Home in Evansville, Ind. and from 9 – 11 a.m. Saturday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Hester Fisher, 90, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was born March 22, 1916 in Findley, Okla.

Her husband George W. Fisher preceded her in death.

Surviving are brothers, Gilbert Allen of Gallup, N.M. and Ralph Allen of Oakridge, Tenn.; sister, Clara Ingram of Evansville, Ind.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospital Home, 601 N. Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47725.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Good Samaritan Home and Staff of the West Wing for all of their excellent and loving care for Hester.

Geneva Fisher

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Geneva Christine (Berry) Fisher are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa with Richard Winters officiating and Randall W. Nunley assisting.

Interment is to follow at Konawa City Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Fisher, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. She was born Dec. 9, 1923 in Konawa to Luther Arnold and Allie Lee (Minton) Berry.

She graduated from Konawa High School in 1942 and was voted the first female as Most Outstanding Athlete in Konawa High School.

Following high school she worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II.

On Dec. 1, 1968 she married Lloyd L. Fisher in Seminole.

She enjoyed fishing, raising chickens, ducks and geese, and selling fresh vegetables from her garden. Fisher was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Konawa.

Her parents; two brothers, Gene and Roscoe Berry and two sisters, Bonnie Scott and Peggy Ledford preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband of the home; one son, Randall W. Nunley of Enid; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Randy Wayne Nunley, Robbie Lee Nunley, Bobby Berry, Gerald Glynn Berry, Donnie Kiker and Barry Streetman.

Honorary bearers will be Milton Courtney, Dan Khoury, Burnus Fisher, Arnold Robertson, Larkin Goodrich, Bret Hill and Richard Chase.
