Glenn Merriman

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Glenn Eugene Merriman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bilbe Cemetery at Holdenville Lake, with Rebel Johnson officiating.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Merriman, 87, of Holdenville, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Holdenville General Hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1919 in Walters, Okla., to Frank Merriman and Eua Estella Brown.

He was a Wetumka resident before moving to Seminole and then moving to Holdenville. Merriman was a veteran with the United States Navy and a member of the Church of Christ.

Merriman married Dorothy Dean Merriman and she preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 2006.

He was a heavy equipment operator/engineer and also drove a truck for Brewer-McMichael.

His parents; one son, Eugene Merriman; and four sisters, Opal Kanna, Abbie Itson, Maurine Bovett and Totsie Crismon, also preceded him n death.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Lee Merriman and Brian Keith Merriman, both of California; two daughters, Glenda Estella and Maurine Merrima, both of California; one brother, Hobert Merriman of California; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bob Meyers

Bob Meyers of Maud and also of Macomb, died Wednesday, June 13 after a long illness. He was 60. He was born Sept. 2, 1946 in Modesto Calif. to Don L. and Ellen Goatz Meyers.

Pursuant to his wishes, there will be a viewing at Knight-Swearingen funeral home in Maud on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with cremation to follow.

He had several careers including being a mechanic and owning his own station and garage in Modesto, logging in Oregon and police work in Albuquerque N.M.

Bob was a past member of Phi Beta Kappa and a lifetime NRA member. After becoming disabled, he developed skills in woodworking, pottery, art, photography and vintage tool collecting and is mentioned on several Plomb tool websites.

His parents and their families were from the Maud area and he had pleasant childhood memories of the area, prompting him to move here in the mid-1990's upon retirement/disability.

Long-term partner Debra Fox and her children Ben Fox and Chloe Fox, all of the home, survive him.

Also surviving him are his sons, Billy of Sonora Calif., Tim of Oklahoma City and Stephen and Robert of Virginia; daughters, Samantha Williams of Modesto Calif., and Amanda Meyers of Roanoke, Va.

He is survived by four brothers; William D., Vernon, Jim and Dennis, all of California; and four 4 grandchildren including Stephanie Meyers of Oklahoma City.

His parents preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank Faith hospice, especially Brenda Provence for her excellent care and compassion these last few months.

Sondra Meyers

A memorial service for Wewoka resident Sondra Meyers is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the Anadarko Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Advantage Funeral Service in Tulsa.

Meyers, 50, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, following a brief illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1956 in Carlsbad, N.M. to Van G. Smithpeter, Sr. and Lorena (Heddlesten) Smithpeter.

She was a resident of Wewoka for the past 14 years and was an avid OU football fan and never missed watching a game.

Her grandparents, father and one brother preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Neptali Vera of Wewoka; her mother, Lorena Heddlesten; brother, Van G. Smithpeter, Jr. of Rush Springs; sister, Naomi Werner of Portsmouth, Va.; two stepsons, Rafel and Joel Vera of Wisconsin and five step-grandchildren.

Donna Miles

A private memorial service for former Seminole resident Donna Jean Miles will be held at a later date at the family’s convenience.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ford Funeral Service, Midwest City.

Donna Jean Miles, 75, of Midwest City, died Friday, March 16, 2007. She was born Oct. 19, 1931 in Shawnee as the daughter of Albert and Margaret Johnson.

She was raised in Seminole where she graduated high school. Donna attended OU as a music major and was the first student to play the harp at OU. She also played the accordion and was a twirler.

Needless to say, Donna was the ultimate OU fan receiving a plaque signed by the OU football team when she retired from Tinker Air Force base on Oct. 31, 1991.

Donna was proud to be a longtime member of the Eastern Stars #452 in Seminole.

Her parents, brother, Tommy Johnson, grandson and John Cameron Miles preceded her in death.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Denyse Heidmeyer Palinkas and her husband Edward of Oakville, Conn.; son, Daryl Miles of Bethany; grandchildren, Ashlee Kelly-Palinkas and Michael Edward Palinkas of Oakville, Conn., Brandon Casey Miles of Moore and Curtis Dayton Miles of Midwest City; great-grandsons, Conner Allen Hooper and Curtis Dayton Miles III; cousin, Nathylee Whitley of Seminole; best friends, Polly Smith and Bob McFarland; other relatives and friends.

The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the American cancer Society.

Michael Miles

Funeral services for Michael Miles, relative of Seminole County residents, are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday Feb. 2, 2007 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

Burial will follow at the Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas and will be under the direction of Thompson’s Harveson and Cole Funeral Home of Fort Worth.

Miles died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 at the age of 55.

He was born on June 13, 1951 in Shawnee to William and Lee Miles.

A 1969 graduate of Sherman High School, Miles earned a bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, where he was a member of Alpha Chi fraternity.

He was a CPA specializing in oil and gas tax accounts and worked for McCaslin and Co., L.L.C. for over 20 years.

At the time of his death, Miles was a principal with the company.

Listed in Who’s Who in 1996, Miles was a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He was also a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the Forth Worth Petroleum Club.

An avid golfer, he was proud of his hole in one.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lee Miles.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Ann Miles; one brother, William Miles Jr. and his wife Jackie; and sisters Mary Miles DeRusse, Little Rock, Ark.; Nancy Miles Miller and Elizabeth Spencer, both of Sherman, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jack McCaslin, Richard Spofford, Mel Henkes, Tony Hausler, Jeff Aston and John Van Zanten.

The family resquests that in lieu of memorials that gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, 3301 West Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76107; and to the American Heart Association, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 250, Fort Worth, Texas 76102, or to a charity of choice.

Linda Miller

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Linda "Diane" Miller are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery with Congregational Methodist Minister Dan Grimes officiating the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Linda "Diane" Miller, 53 year-old Seminole resident and business woman passed from this life Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 28, 1954 in Seminole to parents Verlin Mae (Weston) Miller and Archie Dale Miller.

As a young girl she had been a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls where she was a past Worthy Advisor. Diane attended Seminole High School where she graduated in 1972.

She continued her education at Seminole State College where she earned her associate degree, and then she earned her Bachelor of Arts from East Central University in Ada.

In 1998 Diane took over the family business "Miller Plant Farm" in Seminole. Her family had established the business in 1939 and she continued the business operations even through her lengthy battle with cancer.

Diane had served as president twice for the Oklahoma Green House Association where she had earned a lifetime membership and the grower of the year award.

She was also a longtime member and had served in the Children’s Department at First Baptist Church in Seminole, teaching Sunday school and Children’s Church.

Diane would also attend the Seminole Congregational Methodist Church on Goodhope Road.

Although Diane never married she did have a true love and that was Oklahoma State University. She loved to kid and chastise her family and friends who were avid O.U. fans.

Diane leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Archie Dale Miller and Verlin Mae (Weston) Miller of Seminole; her paternal grandmother, Alice Miller of Seminole; two brothers and their spouses, David and Anna Miller of Albuquerque, N.M., and Glen and Stacey Miller of El Reno; and one sister, Barbara Bilbrey of Fort Worth, Texas.

Other survivors include her nephews, Chase and his wife Tina Bilbrey of Dallas, Texas, Andrew Miller of El Reno, and niece, Erin Miller of El Reno. Also surviving is a great-nephew, Korbin Bilbrey of Dallas, Texas and a host of other family and dear friends.

Diane is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, W.C. Miller; her maternal grandparents, J. Henry Weston and Virgie (Goff) Weston; and one niece Emily Ann Miller.

The family will receive friends at Swearingen Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Casket bearers will be: Lee Dixson, Mike Minihan, Tim Minihan, Chase Bilbrey, Martin Prieto, Dr. Mike Snelly, Miguel Gomez and Andrew Miller.

Honorary bearers will be: Kim Boydston, Kathy Zeller, Jessica Gomez, Manuela Prieto, Veronica Prieto, JaNene Day, Marilyn Stewart and Betty Oliver.

Lori Millican

Funeral services for Konawa resident Lori Kay (Burgess) Millican are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa with Bros. Dennis Traxler, Kellos Walker and Ed George officiating.

Wake services will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.

Burial will follow at the Burgess Family Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa.

Millican, 45, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at Carl Albert Indian Health Center in Ada. She was born on Jan. 12, 1962 in Wewoka to Bobby Burgess and Ellen (Larney) Burgess.

She graduated from Konawa High School where she was active in the band. Later she graduated from East Central University in Ada with a Bachelors degree in Business.

While at ECU, she was in the exchange student program and was in the ECU Band.

Millican was employed with the Chickasaw Nation for over 13 years as a Procurement Specialist.

On Nov. 5, 1999 she married John Millican in Ada.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa.

She is survived by her husband, John Millican of the home; her parents, Bobby Burgess and Ellen (Larney) Burgess of Konawa; three stepdaughters, Rachael Millican, Kelly Elaine Millican and Jennifer Meagan Millican; two sisters, Cora Osborne and of Konawa and Barbara West of Tecumseh and one brother, Ricky Burgess of Konawa.

One brother, Bobby Burgess, preceded her in death.

Serving as casket bearers will be Christopher Baker, Franklin West, Michael Burgess, Jason Burgess, Billy Archer and Johnny Osborne.

Honorary bearers will be Ricky Burgess, Jr., Brandon West, Madden West, Dale Archer, Camron Archer, David Hamilton and members of the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
