Ava White

Memorial services for former Seminole County resident Ava Marie White are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Graveside services and burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pace Funeral Home.

White, 97 of Livingston, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at Livingston Memorial Medical Center. She was born Sept. 3, 1910 in Shawnee to John Aaron and Anna Florence Moore Parsons.

Her parents; husband of 54 years, David Onan White; brother: Willie Parsons and Ralph Parsons; and sisters: Laura Carter, Pearl Rainey, Beulah Birkicht and Inez Parsons, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her two daughters: Kathy Dale and Ava Ann Barton of Livingston, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bernadean White

Graveside services will be held for Wewoka resident Bernadean "Ligon" White on Friday, July 25, 2008, at Tate Mountain Cemetery in Wewoka at 10 a.m.

White died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Wewoka, at the age of 80.

She was born in the Limestone community on Nov. 18, 1927, to Samuel and Lacy Hall.

She attended school at Limestone.

White worked as a beautician for many years and was a homemaker.

She was is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Donna Dodson; and two sisters, Cybil Dover and Jean Kirkland.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Tiger of Wetumka, Betty Romaine of Seminole, and Judy Wilhelm of Wewoka; one brother, Leon Hall of Tulsa; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Tiger, Harry Stone, Steven Tiger, Scott Randall, and Joseph Dodson.

Hazel White

A memorial service will be held for Seminole resident Hazel White at 2 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole on Friday, with Russell Vicars officiating.

Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Okla.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Hazel Gwyndolyn "Gwyn" White passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 91. Hazel was born Jan. 16, 1917, near Damascus, Ark., to David Clyde Jennings and Hattie Cline (Merchant) Jennings.

Gwyn grew up in Wagoner, Okla., with her four brothers: Gerald, Gale, Groffe and Glen.

On Oct. 12, 1938, she married J.U. White. They established their home in Seminole.

Gwyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole and was involved in numerous civic and cultural activities. She was loved by everyone she met and will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.

Her husband, her parents and her brothers, Gerald, Gale and Glen, preceded her in death.

Her son, Jim White, his wife Jane and their children, Jay and Mary Ellen; and her brother Groffe Jennings, all of Oklahoma City; and numerous nephews and nieces, survive her.

Gwyn will be welcomed home: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Seminole, 420 Reid Street, Seminole, OK 74868, or a charity of choice.

Evelyn Whitefield

Graveside services for longtime Maud resident Evelyn Whitefield were held today at 11 a.m. at Cummings Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating.

Services were under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Evelyn E. (Costolo) Whitefield, 77 years old, passed from this life Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at Colonial Estates Care Center in Shawnee. She was born March 15, 1930 in Fairmont, W.V. to parents Emmanuel Charles Costolo, Sr. and Gladys Evelyn (Swisher) Costolo.

Evelyn married Earl M. Whitefield on Feb. 28, 1949 in Elkton, Maryland. She was a homemaker and moved to Maud 30 years ago from Georgia.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl M. Whitefield (Sept. 24, 1991) and one brother Emmanuel C. Costolo, Jr. (2006).

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Ann and Paul Wagner of Maud and Pat Boren of Shawnee: and one sister, Iona Hardesty of Bowie, Md.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Loring Wagner of Oklahoma City, Brian Wagner of Shawnee, Nancy Gambill of Macomb, Samantha Anthony of Tecumseh, and Bruce Moore of McAlester.

Evelyn also has two great grandchildren: Jasmine Mooney of Tecumseh and Bryce Kirk of Tecumseh.

Casket Bearers were: Loring Wagner, Sam Whitefield, Jim Whitefield, Jason Gambill, Paul Wagner and Brian Wagner.

Wilma Whitlock

Funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Wilma Ruth Goss Whitlock are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Church, Wewoka.

The services will be officiated by her son, Freeman Whitlock, and assisted by grandsons-in-law, Carl Edgerton and Jim Collier, all are of the Community of Christ Church.

Rev. Tommy Azlin of New Life Church will preside over the graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral; Home, Wewoka.

Wilma Ruth Goss Whitlock was born to Albert and Indianola Stephens Goss on Sept. 29, 1914 in Wilburton, Okla.

Her gracious Lord took her to be in His arms on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 in Seminole.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Russell Whitlock; children: Wilma Byerly, Sybil Byerly, and Frank Whitlock; grandson, Shawn Whitlock; and siblings: Jewel, Eva, Albert, Lavern, Juanita, Martha and Delbert.

Ruth spent much of her childhood in Fanshawe, Okla., and in rural Wewoka. She attended Fanshawe Schools.

She was married to Russell Whitlock on June 13, 1931 and her early adult years were devoted to raising her children and attending their ball games.

In 1963, she was widowed and forced to enter the work force. She spent 22 years working in the cafeteria at Justice School and retired in 1978.

She remained at the home place south of Wewoka until 1997 when she relocated east of Wewoka to be nearer to her family. During her retirement years she enjoyed raising vegetable gardens, tending her flowers, and taking care of her family.

One of her greatest joys was in having her family gather at her house on Sundays after church and on holidays.

Her cooking abilities will be missed by the whole family, especially her peanut butter cookies, red beans and peach cobbler.

Her contagious laugh, appreciation for every deed no matter how big or small, and unconditional love is also among the many things we will miss about her.

Ruth always found the strength to care for and share the burdens of her family when a crisis would arise. For each one of the family members she was someone different: Mama, Nannie, Nannie Ruthie, or Ruth. But our love and adoration for her is the same and we are so blessed to have been loved by her.

Survivors include a brother, Gilbert Goss; sisters: Bea Sumpter, Judy "Gillie" Oliver, and Bertha Dillon; children: Freeman and Norma Whitlock of Prague, and Darla and Roy Sisco of Wewoka; son-in-law, Clyde Byerly of Holdenville; and JoAnn Macon of Pickett.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Brenda and Chris Barbre of Spaulding, Rhonda and Jim Collier of Seminole, Margaret and Carl Edgerton of Prague, Cheryl and Charlie Woolard of Durant, Terry Byerly of Spaulding, LaDawn Wainscott of Ada, Tammy and Lonnie Neal of New Lima, Nancy Weyneth of Seminole, Shane and Mary Whitlock of Tupelo, Christi and John Estes of Ada, Mikre and Darlene Sisco of Tecumseh, Cathy and Mike Wood of Ada, Shelle and Dale Stafford of Wewoka, Lance Byerly of Holdenville, and Tori and Scott Aldridge of Wewoka.

There are also 31 surviving great-grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren, who will cherish their memories of Nannie.

Ruth was a member of the Community of Christ Church for most of her life. In her later years she attended New Life Church.

Pallbearers are: Terry Byerly, Nancy Weyneth, David Barbre, Russell Collier, and Shane Whitlock.

Honorary bearers are: Lance Byerly, Craig Phillips, Daniel Swift, Charlie Woolard, Scott Aldridge, Dale Stafford, Lonnie Neal, John Estes, Mike Wood, and Mike Sisco.

Sally Wilker

Funeral services for Seminole resident Sally Mae (Lively) Wilker are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole, with Dr. Tommy Clark to officiate.

Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Wilker, 86, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 in Seminole. She was born Nov. 7, 1921 in Wewoka to Charlie C. and Etta F. (Smith) Lively.

On June 22m 1940 she married Robert Alvin Wilker in Seminole and was a homemaker and mother.

Her parents; husband (Sept. 10, 1984); one daughter, Pat Hawkins (Jan. 31, 2005); five brothers: Foy, Roy, Claude, Vernon and Bill Lively; and one sister, Lilly Clifton, preceded her in death.

Surviving is one son, Charles Wilker of Hennessey; one daughter, Bobbi Hubbard of Seminole; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family has suggested donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5400 N. Grand Blvd., Suite 255, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

Damien Wilkerson

Graveside services for Damien Wade Wilkerson, husband of a former Seminole County resident Ashlee Wilkerson, are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the Atwood Cemetery in Atwood.

Services will be officiated by Mike Wester.

Tribal rites will be held at the home of the late Lucille Masquat on Brangus Road in Tecumseh tonight at 6 p.m., and will be directed by George Blanchard.

Wilkerson died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at the age of 26.

Wilkerson loved being around all of his family and friends.

He enjoyed his dogs and horses, and also loved singing karaoke.

Wilkerson was employed with R&R Pipeline where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorotha and Lowell H. Wilkerson; and one brother, Justin Wade.

Wilkerson is survived by his wife, Ashlee; one daughter, Madisyn; his father, Lowell Wilkerson, Atwood; his mother, Tamie Wilkerson, Ada; two brothers, John Keith, Moore and Brandon Alaee, Francis; four sisters, Dana Best, Edmond, Fallon McLain, Shawnee, Amanda Wilkerson, Ada, and Georgeann Wilkerson, Ada; grandmother, Mary McGuire, Shawnee; great-grandmother, Catherine Masquat, Shawnee; and a host of other relatives.

Donald Wilkerson

Donald Burton Wilkerson, 74, of Eufaula, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home. Don was born on June 15, 1934, in Seminole, Oklahoma, the son of Andrew Burton and Gladys (Hudelson) Wilkerson.

He graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1952. On August 21, 1972, Don married Joyce Gale Simon in Raton, New Mexico. Don began working in the food business in 1962.

He retired from Fleming Foods after 17 years of service. He continued to work in the food business for forty years. In 1983, Don and Joyce moved to Eufaula.

Don became very active in the community. He purchased Burns IGA and operated the business until 1998. He was a member of the city

He also developed several businesses in Eufaula including the Eufaula Quick Lube, Sears, Main Street Laundry and the Get & Go. Don was a member of the Eufaula United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce, of the home; his sons, Donovan Wilkerson and wife Julie of Nashville, Tennessee, and Doyle Stuart and wife Debbie of Eufaula; his daughters, Danna Riffle and husband Matt of Seminole and Kimberly Kiss and husband Mike of Edmond; his brother Jim Wilkerson and wife Jodi of Tulsa; his sisters, Lois Graham and husband Lee of Broken Arrow, Carole Harden of Stratford, and his sister-in-law, Jean Wilkerson of Edmond.

Don is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Wilkerson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer Division.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Eufaula High School Auditorium with the Dr. John Breon and Joe Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Edgmon, Richard Ross, Charles White, Ryan Riffle, Jeremiah Stuart and Sam Wilkerson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Smith, Fred Wendel and the Eufaula City Council Members. Burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery in Tecumseh.

Services are under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula.
