Wanda Dingel

Wanda Sue (Smith) Dingel, 69, of Wewoka, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.

She was born Aug. 30, 1945 in Ruston, La., to Hermine and Toy Smith.

She married Ron Dingel on April 4, 1995 at her home near Wewoka, Okla.

Sue attended school in Compton, Calif. and Wewoka Public Schools.

In her adult life, she lived in several different towns including Lake Charles, La., Ruston, La., Muskogee, Okla., Hartshorne, Okla., and then eventually returning to Wewoka, Okla.

She worked as a waitress, cook, beautician, book keeper, home health, and cross country truck driver.

She was a member of Hilltop Family Life Center.

She loved her church family and enjoyed worshiping her lord.

She enjoyed camping at Wewoka Lake, fishing, riding four wheelers, working in her flower gardens, and spending time with family.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and wife.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Doris Smith, Betty Snipes and Vicki Davis.

Also, Sue was preceded in death by her two brothers, Hermine Smith Jr. and Eugene Smith, and her granddaughter, Katie Horn.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Dingel, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Conley and April Clark of Perry, Okla.; daughter, Karen Wright of Quincey, Calif.; grandson, Mitchell Horn, two granddaughters, Shayla Gomand and Tiffany Medaris; two great-grandchildren, Trenton and Ashland Horn; sister, Angie Garretson of Wewoka, Okla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwight and Kathy Smith, Grant and Nancy Smith, all of Wewoka, sisters and brothers-in-law Kay and Darrell Smart of New Castle, Okla.; Shonna and George Porter of Wewoka, Okla.; and Randy Whelan of Canadian, Okla.; as well as a host of other family members.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Hilltop Family Life Center with Brother Russell Ryker officiating.

Jaidyn Dixon

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church located at 126 N. Konawa Street in Konawa, Okla. under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mona Fulks will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Jaidyn Reign Dixon was born with her angel wings on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, Okla., to William and Samantha (Jolly) Dixon of Konawa, Okla.

She is survived by her parents, William and Samantha; two half-sisters, Serenity and Sarah Dean of the home; two half-brothers, Nathan and Colton Dixon of Muskogee, Okla.; maternal grandparents, Sam Jolly of Richardson, Texas, and Patricia Jolly of Konawa, Okla.; paternal grandparents, Larry Dixon of Panola, Okla., and Carla Dixon of Prague, OklaIn lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the March of Dimes in Jaidyn’s honor. Memorials for the family may be arranged through Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Juanita Dixon

Juanita RDoomy Dixon, 81, longtime Seminole county resident, died Tuesday, January 6, 2014 in Holdenville, Okla.

Juanita was born May 23, 1933, in Jennings, Okla. to Oma Leta (Jones) and George Seward.

Juanita has lived in Seminole county since 1975.

She attended Draughn’s Business School in Oklahoma City and had worked as a bookkeeper for J & M Roofing for over 15 years before her retirement; she had also worked for Hartford Insurance Company, Roofers Supply Co. in Oklahoma City.

She is remembered by her family as being a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She loved cooking and made the best biscuits in the world.

She enjoyed canning and making great jelly, gardening, and making things grow, crossword puzzles and watching and feeding hummingbirds.

She loved her family and they loved and admired her.

She and Eugene also loved dancing and they did competition ballroom dancing.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Okemah, Okla., but had been attending the Christ of Christ in Seminole.

Juanita taught each of her grandchildren how to Snow Dance.

Juanita Married Eugene Dixon on Jan. 9, 1954, in Oklahoma City.

Juanita is survived by her son George Dixon and his wife Valarie of Okemah, Okla., two daughters, Curta Jean Mead of Okemah, Okla., Loretta Byrd and her husband Robert of Okemah, seven grandchildren, James Dixon and his wife Lisa, Sean Mead, Charles Byrd and his wife Deana, Vernessa Mead, Sara Hall and her husband Matt, Cassandra Sipes and her husband Jimmy, Kristen Ashpaugh and her husband Jake, great grandchildren, Hailey, Lily, Austen, Makynzee, Emily, Marshall, J.R., Lorali and Brett.

Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla. with Chris Stinnett officiating.

Burial will take place at Little Cemetery.

Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla. is in charge of services.

Lena Dobbins

Lena P. Dobbins, 70, former Seminole resident died, Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

Lena was born on April 8, 1944 in Seminole, Okla.

Lena was a computer Analyst at the F.A.A. and retired in 2011.

Lena was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.

Lena is survived by her longtime companion Greg Nagorski, two sons Larry Dobbins and Stephen Dobbins both of Oklahoma City, three brothers Reuben Dunn and Benn Dunn both of Seminole, Okla. and Norman Simmons of Okemah, Okla. and one sister Eloise Keen of Del City, Okla., and two grandchildren Nicole Dobbins and Chase Dobbins.

She was preceded in death by her Mother Louisa Dunn and a brother Noah Dunn, Jr.

Services will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. with burial at Snake Creek # 2 Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jordan Keen, Matt Keen, Reuben Dunn, Jr., Mark Cantrell, William Cantrell and Jeremy Larney.

Honorary bearers will be Chase Dobbins, Sonny Hale, Bill Larney and Cecil Larney.

Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla.

Wanda Douthit

Wanda "June" Douthit passed through this life and entered the gates of heaven on Feb. 16, 2015; she was surrounded with love and God’s comfort.

June was born June 27, 1938, born second as a twin to her sister Joyce Pettit, to Ruby Mae (Marchant) and Woodrow Murl Foster in Oklahoma City.

June was a member of the God’s Assembly Church in Seminole, Okla., and when she was able to attend, she loved to sing the Gospel of the Lord.

She applied God’s word in everything she did throughout life.

At the age of 15 June married and began her family, two children were born; Beckie Cooper Green and Donnie Cooper. On Nov. 3, 1979 she married Donald Douthit and gained a stepson Terry Douthit.

June is survived by her daughter Beckie (Cooper) Green of Gage, Ok, son Donnie Cooper and his wife Amy of Shattuck, Okla., stepson Terry Douthit and his wife Linda of Tuttle, Okla.

She had eight grandchildren, Traci Wade, Rachel Gonzales, Treshieva Haulcomb, Colton Green, Logan Green, Catrina Cooper, Jessika Cooper and Houston Green.

June also had sixteen great grand – children that she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Ruby Foster, her husband Donald Douthit, and one sister Joyce Pettit.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday Feb. 21, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Okla., with burial at Wolf Cemetery, Seminole County, Okla.

Bessie Duncan

Bessie Jane (Eslick) Duncan, age 69 and a resident of Sasakwa, Okla., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at her home.

A Wake service was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7th at Rock Springs Church in Sasakwa, and funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8th at the church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Burial will follow at the Walton Family Cemetery near Sasakwa. Rev. Jimsey Harjo and Rev. Houston Tiger will officiate.

Pallbearers are Anthony Eckles, Vincente Aguliera, Finny Howe, Bill Armstrong, Nashobia Hill, and Sunhawk Hill.

Bessie was born on July 7, 1945 in Eufaula, Okla. to Squaire Eslick and Hazel (Culp) Eslick.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Don Hill of the home; two sons, Robert Murphy of Stigler, Oklahoma, and Rickie Murphy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one daughter, Rose Ann Duke of Tipton, Oklahoma; four step-daughters, Jalena Murphy of Stigler, Tessa Hill of Little Axe, Oklahoma, Felicia Hill of Sasakwa, and Shawana Hill of Waco, Texas; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Velma Edwards

Velma Jean Edwards was born on Dec. 18, 1950 in Wetumka, Okla.

She was the third of six children born to Ms. Mable Alexander.

She received her education in Wewoka, Okla.

After graduating she worked at Wewoka Hospital for many years.

Velma later attended Rose State College and became a Licensed Certified Nurse, and then began her career working for Norman Youth Center for 25 years, until her health failed her.

Early in life she accepted Christ at St. Stephens Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. Freddie Griffis, where she became a faithful member.

Velma, who's known to everyone as Red, loved sports. She was an avid OU and OKC Thunder fan, she loved to shop, enjoyed her music, and loved living life.

Most of all she loved children, even though she lost one of her own she was a mother to many of her nieces and nephews, her love impacted the lives of her many relatives and friends who admired her graciousness and hospitality.

Velma was preceded in death by her loving daughter; Tywashawn Denise Edwards, two brothers, her grandfather and grandmother, three aunts and one uncle.

Velma departed this life on March 13, 2015.

Forever cherishing her memories a loving, caring and a devoted mother and sister of the home Ms. Mable Alexander and Mary Smith, a devoted brother; Curtis (Evetta) Alexander of Wewoka, Okla., and another loving sister; Syiblean Spencer of Los Angeles, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, two aunts and Uncle L.B. Alexander Sr., and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral service for Velma Edwards will be 1:00 p.m. Friday March 20, 2015 at New Life Church Wewoka. Interment will follow at Wisner Cemetery, Wetumka, Okla.

Master of Ceremonies will be Rev. Larry Payne, assisting will be Rev. Bert, Elder Lloyd Thomas, and Elder Wesley Thomas.

Flower Girls will be Pat Griffis, Linda James, Paula Edwards, Joyce Ann Street and Edna Mae Overstreet.

Ushers will be Yvette Sheppard, Linda Brown, Mary Older and Carolyn Jones.

Pall Bearers will be Carzell Brown, Mark Jackson, James Blackshire, Earnest Edwards, Kenneth Edwards and James Griffis.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be Rex Alexander, Stanley Alexander, L.W. Jr., Elroy Alexander, I.V. Alexander and L.B. Alexander Jr.
