Amos Postoak

Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Amos Thompson Postoak, 55, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Church in Sasakwa.

Rev. Leon "Chippie" Postoak and Rev. Billie Jo Harjo will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Postoak family cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Postoak died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999 in Tulsa.

He was born Sept. 21, 1943 in Sasakwa, and attended Sasakwa grade school from 1950-60.

His family moved to Windom, Texas, where he attended Dodd City Schools, then returned to Sasakwa in 1958, where he attended Chilocco Indian School, graduating in 1965.

Postoak then attended Chilocco Vocational School from 1965-67.

He worked in construction from 1967-72, then for Channel 2 television station as a cameraman from 1973-80.

Postoak then began working for Phipps Company from 1980-83 before becoming a free lance cameraman.

Postoak and his wife, Marion (Zwanzig) Postoak, whom he married in Tulsa, would have celebrated their 15 year wedding anniversary on Sept. 15.

His wife survives him of the home.

Postoak was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Lizzie (Davis) Postoak; two brothers, Leonard and Lyman Postoak; two sisters, Lucinda Thomas and Margaret Postoak.

Other survivors include his children, Brigitte and Aslee Postoak, both of the home, Noel Rutherford and Rebecca Rutherford, both of Tulsa, Bonnie Jackson of England, Morgan Postoak, Hinton, Gwen Postoak, Oklahoma City, Christina Postoak, Midwest City, Charlie Miller, Wewoka, Louis Postoak, Tulsa and Jeffery Postoak, Glenpool.

Also surviving him are his brothers, Leon "Chippie" Postoak, Oklahoma City, George James and David Postoak, all of Sasakwa, Thompson Postoak, Seminole and Paul Postoak, Wewoka; three sisters, Maxine Postoak, Sasakwa, Christine Postoak, Shawnee, and Lea Osborne, Shawnee; and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers are listed as Joe Coon, Lewis Johnson, Gene "Sonny" Burgess, Jimmy Taylor and Loyd Lee Harjo.

Honorary bearers include Wade Bridges, Calvin Taylor, Wilbert Harjo, Jimmy Joe Harjo and Eugene Harjo.

Mildred Poston

KONAWA — Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Mildred Ann Poston, 58, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.

Poston died Friday, November 19, 1999, in Konawa.

She was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Konawa to Zelma Ann Myatt and Carl Myatt.

Poston lived all her life in Konawa.

On June 15, 1961 she married Floyd "Wimpy" Poston at Konawa; he survives her of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Benny Myatt.

Other survivors include her two daughters Jeanetta Poston and Janice King, both of Konawa, one brother, Ed Myatt, Konawa; one sister, Shirley Akins, Chickasha and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers are scheduled to be David L. Harjo, Mike Johnson, Mike Burris, Charles Grant, Junior Price and H. O. Griffin.

Gene Poteet

Word was just received of funeral services for W.E. "Gene" Poteet, 74, husband of a former Seminole resident, which were held Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon.

Burial followed in Yukon Cemetery.

Poteet died Saturday, March 27, 1999 after a battle with cancer.

He was born May 18, 1924 in Yeager to Ned and Mary Etta Poteet.

He served in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines at General Douglas MacArthur’s headquarters.

Poteet worked in the lumber business in Oklahoma for 55 years.

He was past president of the Oklahoma Lumberman’s Association, a past member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church and a current active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon.

Poteet married Jo Helen Rogers in Seminole on July 3, 1947. She survives him of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Other survivors include six children, JaReesa Bryan, Edmond, Wilson Poteet, Pansacola, Fla., Becky Kuhns, Oklahoma City, Gordon Poteet, Bethany, Carol Hampton, Sugarland, Texas and Roger Poteet, Bethany; three sisters, Ruby Cox, Lancaster, Calif., Eunice Havens, Lawton, and Pauline White, Midwest City; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bennie Powell

Graveside services for Bennie Lee Powell, 77, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Westwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Keller Funeral Home.

Powell died Tuesday, Oc.t 12, 1999 at Talihina Veteran’s Center.

He was born Jan. 18, 1922 in McAlester to Edward Powell Sr. and Elzora Collins Powell, Wewoka residents who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Lyneata Faye Powell Downing, Spencer.

Linda Powell

Funeral services for former Wewoka area resident Linda Lou Powell, 46, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Sand Creek Eufaula Church.

Houston Tiger and Alex Lowe will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at the Tiger family cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Wake services were held Saturday evening at Stout Chapel. She will be taken to the church at 4 p.m. Sunday for the 7 p.m. Wake services at Sand Creek Eufaula Church.

Powell died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999.

She was born Feb. 20, 1953 in Claremore to Daniel and Irene Carpitcher Harjo.

She was raised in Wewoka and attended Justice School. A graduate of Sequoyah High School in 1971, she lived in Okmulgee and Morris for a short time before moving to Holdenville in 1981.

Powell was employed as a nurse’s aide for several years at Heritage Village Nursing Home.

She married Davy Powell on July 2, 1991 in Holdenville. He survives her of the home.

Powell was also preceded in death by her father and one brother, Barney Johnson.

Other survivors include her mother, of Konawa.

Pallbearers are listed as David Capps, Bunny Powell, Barney Powell, Danny Powell and Jesse Moppin.

Honorary pallbearers include Bob Tiger, Cheparney Harjo, Terri Powell and Dorsey Harjo.

Richard ‘Husky’ Powell

Funeral services for Seminole resident Richard "Husky" Powell, 62, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Middle Creek #2 Church.

Frank Moppin and Boots Fixico will officiate at the service. Interment will follow at Powell Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

The procession to the church began at 4 p.m. today. Wake services are scheduled for 7 p.m.

Powell died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 in Oklahoma City.

He was born Sept. 6, 1937 in Holdenville to Ramsey and Edna (Fixico) Powell.

A retired welder, he was active in church.

Powell was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynn Powell, Tulsa, Susawn Powell, San Leandro, Calif.; one son, Darren Powell, Everett, Wash.; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers are listed as Sandy Powell, Bill Bailey, Joe Factor and Bunny Powell.

Donna Prescott

Funeral services for former Maud resident Donna Muriel (Fleetwood) Prescott, 58, are set for 11 a.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Maud.

Rev. Tim Martin will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.

Prescott died in her home in Del City on Tuesday Aug. 3, 1999.

She was born in Parker, Okla. on May 20, 1941 to Fred Fleetwood and Ratha Melissa (Stephens) Fleetwood.

Prescott graduated from St. Louis High School in 1959.

She worked as a CNA for Integrated Health Service, Inc. until her death.

Prescott had previously worked as a lab tech for Dr. Thomas Finn’s office in Oklahoma City until his retirement.

She was preceded in death by her father; one son Randy Prescott, and one brother Fred Fleetwood.

Prescott is survived by her motherof Maud; one daughter Sherry Padgett, Orange Park, Florida; one brother Randy Fleetwood, Wewoka; Five sisters Rozell Flesher of Lindsay, Erma Guinn, Konawa, Fern Turnbow, Konawa, Loretta Jennings, Oklahoma City, Cleta Crawford, Stroud and two grandchildren.

Casket bearers are listed as Mike Crawford, Michael Crawford, Jay Flesher, Van Guinn, Joe Flesher, Jason Jennings, Jerry Upshaw and Mike Flesher.
