Among the survivors of Gertrude M. Witkowski, who dies, Monday, April 16, 2001, is a sister, Annetta (Jaroszynski) Gdowik, Kutztown.

John Wetzel
Among the local survivors of John Wetzel, 79, who died March in his Temple residence, is a daughter, Joyce A. (Wetzel) Sipe, Leesport.

Anthony A. Cavallucci
Among the local survivors of Anthony A. Cavallucci, 83, who died April 6 in his Reading residence, is a brother, Louis Cavallucci, Greenfields.

Janet M. Plasha
Among the local survivors of Janet M. (Schluth) Plasha, 58, who died of natural causes April 7 in her Quaker City Road, Albany Township residence, is a daughter, Bernadette M. (Plasha) Leibensperger, Kempton.

Dorothy B. Talys
Among the local survivors of Dorothy B. (Brossman) Talys, 88, formerly of South Heidelberg Township, who died April 4 in Berks Heim, where she had resided since January, are a son, Joel D. Talys and a daughter, Gloria (Talys) Prizer, both of Bernville.

Kevin K. Sallada
Among the local survivors of Kevin K. Sallada, 39, of East Greenville, Montgomery County, who died of natural causes April 6 in ManorCare Health Services, Pottstown, is a stepsister, Carol Kehl, Lenhartsville.

ETHEL R. BAUER
Graveside services were held for Ethel R. (Erb) Bauer, 81, formerly of Douglassville, who died June 20 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., West Reading, where she had resided since May. Her husband, Norman V. Bauer, died in 1963. Born in Sassamansville, Montgomery County, she was employed for 10 years as a ribbon maker by the Bally Ribbon Mills until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Birdsboro. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette A. (Bauer) Millard, Montrose, Susquehanna County, and Joan (Bauer) Eisenhart, Ithaca, N.Y. Other survivors include five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The Dengler Funeral Home Inc., Birdsboro, handled the arrangements.

E. TOMASZEWSKI
Services were held for Elizabeth M. Tomaszewski, 77, of Rand Drive, Alsace Township, who died June 18 in St. Joseph Medical Center’s Community Campus, Reading. She was a former owner-operator of a Reading tavern, the Junction Inn, 1059 N. Ninth St., for 18 years until her retirement. Tomaszewski was born in Reading. Surviving are a daughter, Brenda (Tomaszewski) Messersmith, Alsace Township; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. The Auman Funeral Home, Reading, was in charge of the arrangements.

HARRY G. CROSSLEY JR.
Services were held at Huffs Union Church for Harry G. Crossley Jr., 75, of Huffs Church Road, Barto, who died June 19 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in Emmaus, he was a farmer in Barto. Crossley was a veteran of the U..S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregation of Huffs Union Church, Alburtis. Crossley was a member of Macungie Veterans Association. Surviving are a brother, Richard Crossley of Reading; and two sisters, Leah Greger of Pennsburg and Betty Brungard of Barto. Contributions may be made to the capital improvement fund of the church. The arrangements were handled by the Bachman, Kulik and Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.

KATIE B. KEMP
Services were held for Katie B. (Bechtel) Kemp, 82, of Crow Hill Road, Washington, Berks County, who died June 21 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. Born in Pike, she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Hill United Church of Christ, Pike Township, and the Women’s Guild of the Church. Surviving are five sons, Lester B. Kemp of Hereford, Linwood P. Kemp of Birdsboro, Arthur B. Kemp of Kittanning, Richard C. Kemp of Washington, Berks County, and Melvin B. Kemp of Washington, Berks County. Also three daughters, Joyce F. Hardigg of Allentown, Virginia M. Shope of Allentown and Jane N. Moser of Washington, Berks County; two brothers, Leroy Bechtel of Pike Township and Donald Bechtel of Oley; one sister, Gladys Reinhard of Pike Township; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made the memorial fund of St. John’s Hill United Church of Christ, 620 Hill Church Road, Boyertown, PA 19512. The arrangements were handled by the Daniel R. Christ Funeral Home, Main St., Oley. Burial was private.

CURTIS C. HEFFNER
Private services were held for Curtis C. Heffner, 82, who died June 22 in his residence on Main St., Oley. He was the husband of Janet K. (Keehn) Heffner. Born in Greenwich Township, he was employed for many years as a oil delivery truck driver by Moyer Plumbing & Heating, Kutztown, until his retirement. He was a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church, Oley. Heffner is also survived by a stepson, Dr. Phillip Wagner, Grand Isle, Vt.; and a stepdaughter, Robin K. (Border) John, Earl Township. Other survivors include four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson. Contributions may be sent to the Boy Scouts Troop 533 of New Berlinville, c/o R. Kevin Zimmers, 1267 Montgomery Ave., New Berlinville, PA 19545. The arrangements were handled by the Daniel R. Christ Funeral Home, Oley.

PEARL V. GRIESEMER
Private services were held for Pearl V. (Frey) Griesemer, 87, formerly of West Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, who died June 23 at Pennsburg Manor, Pennsburg. Born in Earl Township, Berks County, she was a self-employed cleaning woman for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Hill Lutheran Church, Boyertown, and was a life member of the Earl Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Seyler and Fay Hartline, both of Boyertown; two sisters, Iva Kulp of Gilbertsville and Marian Heydt of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Warren Griesemer, and a brother, Harold Frey. The arrangements were handled by the Losh-Morrell-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Boyertown.

WILLIAM E. MOYER
A memorial service was held at Houck Funeral Home, Pottstown for William E. Moyer, 76, of Diamond Court, Pottstown, widower of Ann M. (Musser) Moyer, who died June 24. He was born in Boyertown, and worked at Cabot Corp., retiring in 1988. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army’s 17th Airborne Division and was a life member of the 17th Airborne Association. Moyer was a member of the United Chemical Workers Union. Surviving are five sons, Douglass G. Moyer of Pottstown, William E. Moyer of Waco, Texas, Arthur A. Moyer of Pottstown, Robin C. Moyer of Stowe and Donald M. Moyer of Pottstown. Also three sisters; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchhildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Contributions may be made to the Pottstown Area Senior Center, Jackson and Adams streets, Pottstown, PA 19464.

WILLIAM MOYER
Services will be held Thursday for William R. Moyer, 81, of Baus Road, Bechtelsville, widower of Mabel H. (Weller) Moyer, who died June 24 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. Born in Gilbertsville, Moyer worked as a foreman in the finishing department at Quaker Shoe in Allentown, for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army 41st Infantry Division during World War II. Moyer was a life member of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Co., Boyertown, Liberty Fire Co., New Berlinville; Keystone Fire Co., Bechtelsville; and Pike Township Sportsman’s Association. Surviving are a son, Richard L. Moyer of Boyertown; and a daughter, Connie L. Nimmerichter of Middletown, Del.; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. at the Linwood Ott Funeral Home, 111 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown.
The Rev. Robert R. Mitchell Jr., will officiate. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Church Cemetery , Pike Township.

LOUISE JOHNSON
Services were held for Louise (Koscoe) Johnson, 94, widow of Bert Johnson, of Pennsburg Manor, Pennsburg, formerly of Gilbertsville, who died June 25. Born in Monongahela, Washington county, she had worked as a cook for seven years at the former Pottstown Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1972. While living in Monongahela, she operated Johnson’s Bakery until 1965. She was a member of Gilbertsville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving is a daughter, Virginia K. Day of Pottstown; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Albert E. Johnson Sr., one grandson, Stephen Johnson, four brothers and six sisters. The arrangements were handled by the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Boyertown.

STEPHAN L. HALL
A memorial picnic will be held for Stephan L. Hall, 38, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Boyertown, who died June 25 in Palmetto General Hospital, Miami. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of James L. Hall of Pottstown and Suzanne D. Bush of Boyertown. He was a 1981 graduate of Boyertown Area High School. In addition to his parents, Hall is survived by four brothers, James S. Hall of Souderton, Peter J. Hall of Birdsboro, Jared S. Hall of Bally and Joshua D. Hall of Pottstown; and one sister, Stephanie D. Hall of Boyertown. Family and friends are invited to a memorial picnic on Sunday, July 1, at 651 W. Benjamin Franklin Highway, Birdsboro. For additional directions, call 215-721-8669.

SHARRON HANDUS
Funeral services were held for Sharron Janet (Haught) Handus, 58, of Peckville, Lackawanna County, who died June 16 at the Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the wife of John G. Handus. Born in Salem, W.Va., she was a 1961 graduate of Boyertown High School. Handus was employed by Weston of Archbald, Lackawanna County, and also transported school children. She was a member of the Valley Covenant Community Church, Olyphant, Lackawanna County. In addition to her husband of 35 years, she is survived by a brother and two sisters. She was predeceased by a brother. The arrangements were handled by the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, Peckville.

PAUL B. WEINSTEIGER
A memorial service will be held for Paul B. Weinsteiger, 76, husband of Dorothy (Bartman) Weinsteiger, of Cross Road, Gilbertsville, who died June 25 in his residence. Born in Bechtelsville, he was employed as a welder at Bethlehem Steel, Pottstown, for 27 years until the plant shut down. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a 104th Airborne Paratrooper. For his service, he received a Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster and citation for Silver Star for determined and heroic action while wounded in the face of battle. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a son, Daniel L. Weinsteiger of Gilbertsville; one daughter, Connie E., wife of Albert K. Kehl, Jr. Gilbertsville. Also two brothers, a sister, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers. A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hopewell Community Church, Pottstown. Pastor Ken Krick will officiate. Friends may call from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Hopewell Community Church, 1130 Commerce Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464; or to the charity of one’s choice. The arrangements were handled by the Losh-Morrell-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Boyertown.
