Doris L. Fowler

December 7, 1914 - April 5, 2007

Doris L. Fowler, age 92, formerly of Rimersburg, Pennsylvania and Morton Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 6:55 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot, Pennsylvania.

Born December 7, 1914 in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter Walter and Mina Flick Mitchell.

Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker. Also, she owned and operated Fowler's Grocery Store in Butler, Pennsylvania.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America.

Mrs. Fowler is survived by two sons, Richard D. and his wife, Brenda Fowler of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Barry L. and his wife, Karen Fowler of East Brady, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Laura and her husband, Dale Shandick of Butler, Pennsylvania; seven grandsons, Greg Bosko of Butler, Pennsylvania, Danny and his wife, Kim Bosko of Butler, Pennsylvania, Brian and his wife, Lori Fowler of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Eric and his wife, Hope Fowler of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Christopher and his wife, Michelle Fowler of Houston, Texas, Lonnie and his wife, Sara Fowler of Nashville, Tennessee, Lindon and his wife, Megan Fowler of St. Louis, Missouri, fourteen great-grandchildren and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Coyle Smith Fowler, who was deceased October 27, 1996. Also, proceeded her in death were one daughter, Carla Bosko and three granddaughters, Faith Lee Fowler, Liana Lee Fowler and Rebecca Lynne Bosko.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, April 8, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, April 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. H. Curtis McDaniel, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, Chancel Choir Fund, 420 North Main Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Larry R. Billman

December 3, 1934 - April 4, 2007

Larry Richard Billman, age 72 of Lincoln Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 4:00 a.m. in the Sunnyview Home.

Born December 3, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Richard Billman and the late Grace Eilene Wagner Billman.

Mr. Billman was a flagman for Penn Dot. He was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and he enjoyed hunting.

There will be no public visitation or services. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Dr. F. T. "Tom" Wigton, Jr.

September 22, 1922 - April 30, 2007

Dr. Frank Thompson (Tom) Wigton, Jr., age 84 of Brandywine Village, formerly of W. Muntz Ave., Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice within Concordia Lutheran Home.

Born September 22, 1922 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Frank T. Wigton and the late Helen McKelvey Wigton.

Dr. Wigton established his practice in 1949, and was privileged to serve patients in Butler until October of 2006. He was a life member of Calvary Presbyterian Church until it dissolved in January of 2005 where he served as a stated clerk, elder and trustee for many years. He was a member of the American Optometric Association and The Western Pennsylvania Optometric Association, a former member and past president of the Butler Lions Club, past president of the Butler branch of The Association for the Blind, past president of The Butler Branch of The American Cancer Society, past president of The Western Pennsylvania Bible Conference, past board member of The Y.M.C.A., charter member of The Butler Toastmasters Club, Butler Country Club, V.F.W. Post # 249 and American Legion Post# 778. He enjoyed his family sports and golf and was the club champion at Key Royale Golf Club in Holmes Beach, Florida in 1991. Dr. Wigton was a graduate of Butler High School and attended Allegheny College where he played varsity basketball and soccer. He received his degree as a doctor of Optometry in 1949 from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He served in The United States Army Air Corp as a 1st Lieutenant acting as a Photo Recon Pilot in P-38's during World War II in the European Theater over Germany.

Dr. Wigton is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson Wigton, whom he marriage on June 10, 1947, and by one daughter, Mrs. C. Lee (Susan L.) Benner of Duluth, Georgia, three sons, Dr. William R. Wigton of Butler, Pennsylvania, Dr. Jeffrey S. Wigton of Butler, Pennsylvania, David T. Wigton of Bradenton, Florida; by one brother, James A. Wigton of Butler, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two Nieces and five nephews.

Dr. Wigton was preceded in death by two brothers, Lt. William Wigton and Cpl. Richard Wigton who were both killed during World War II In the European Theater.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial Services will be held at the Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Bupp of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church and Allen Moran of officiating. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Seneca Hills Bible Camp P.O. Box 288 Franklin, Pennsylvania 16323.

Cora J. Lachesky

September 12, 1923 - May 29, 2007

Cora J. Lachesky, age 83 of Meadow Lake Manor of Sugar Creek, Personal Care Lane, Worthington, Pennsylvania, Butler died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Meadow Lake Manor of Sugar Creek.

Born September 12, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Cecil Graham and the late Blanche Long Graham.

Mrs. Lachesky was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church. Mrs. Lachesky was a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge of Butler, the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. and the American Legion of Lyndora. She enjoyed crafts and playing bingo.

Mrs. Lachesky is survived by four daughters, Mary Lou Bruschi of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Robert (Donna) Podobensky of Lyndora, Pennsylvania, Diana Kowal of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Randy (Anna) Rottman of Chicora, Pennsylvania; three sons, John Lachesky of Chicora, Pennsylvania, James Lachesky of Butler, Pennsylvania, George Lachesky of Butler, Pennsylvania; one sister, Goldie Hackett of Butler, Pennsylvania; seventeen grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lachesky was preceded in death by her husband, John Lachesky whom she marriage on January 1, 1944 and who passed away on February 24, 1973, also by one granddaughter, one great-grandson, three brothers, one sisters and one infant sister.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, May 31, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Bupp of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church and Tom Spiker, chaplain of the Medi Home Hospice of Lower Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorials, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.

Jacquelin J. Stevenson

April 30, 1925 - May 27, 2007

Jacquelin J. "Jean" Stevenson, age 82 of Baptist Homes, Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. in the Baptist Homes.

Born April 30, 1925 in Caldwell, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Ford C. Stevenson and the late Helen McGlashan.

Miss Stevenson was a Licensed Practical nurse for Allegheny General Hospital, retiring in May of 1987. She was a member of Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church, Castle Shannon, Pennsylvania. Miss Stevenson was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Silver Chalice Chapter #530 and a former member of the Sweet Adeline.

Miss Stevenson is survived by her brother, William D. Stevenson of Butler, Pennsylvania; five nieces, and three nephews.

Miss Stevenson was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends will be received at Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Friday June 1, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday June 1, 2007 at the Baptist Homes with Reverend Roger Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Chestnut Cemetery, Butler County, Pennsylvania.

Memorials may be made to Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Janis Sowers Koehring

Passed away on May 26, 2007

Janis Sowers Koehring of Haven Hill Dr., Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 7:30 A.M. in her home.

Born in Washington, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late David R. Sowers and the late Claire Storer Matthews.

Mrs. Koehring was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and was the class Salutatorian. She attended Wittenburg College.

Mrs. Koehring was an Office Designer for Lloyd-Johnson Co for thirty-five years. Mrs. Koehring was an associate member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Junior Woman's Club of Butler. Janis was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing golf and her family.

Mrs. Koehring marriage Philip A. Koehring on October 30, 1976. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1994.

She is survived by three sons, Philip Koehring of Boulder Creek, California, Douglas Koehring of Butler, Pennsylvania, John Koehring of Phoenix, Arizona; One sister, Phyllis Webeck (James) of Ellsworth, Pennsylvania; One sister in-law, Mrs. Lillian Decker Sowers of Greensboro, North Carolina; Four grandchildren, Danielle Koehring, Devin Koehring, Spencer Koehring, all of Butler, Pennsylvania and Sara Koehring of Boulder Creek, California; Two Nieces and Three Nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Koehring was also preceded in death by one brother David M. Sowers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 from 4 to 7 P.M. and Friday June 1, 2007 from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the Greenlee Funeral Home 619 Main St. Bentleyville, Pennsylvania.

A private service will be held at the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, Pennsylvania on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery, Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania.
