Eleanor L. Huff

February 11, 1921 ~ November 22, 2010

Eleanor L Huff, age 89, of Old Plank Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, November 22, 2010 at 5:10 p.m. at her residence.

Born February 11, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harry Matson and Minnie Shawkey Matson.

Mrs. Huff was a Homemaker. She was a member of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church. She loved cooking, canning and flowers. She had a strong Christian faith and loved the Lord. She was born at the family home, raised her five children there and quietly passed away in the presence of her loving family.

Mrs. Huff is survived by three sons, Leslie G. (Carole) Huff, Pete L. (Jenny) Huff, Charles R. Huff; two daughters, Joan L. Cole, Sandra J. (William) Guetthoff; three granddaughters, Kimberly (Eric) Hilliard, Traci (David) Lindsay, Robin (Craig) Butler; six grandsons, Brian (Lisa) Guetthoff, Charles (Denise) Huff, Jr., Greg Huff, William (Bonnie) Walker, Kurt (Michele) Huff, Mike Huff; fourteen great-grandchildren, Natalie Marton; Dalton, Elijah and Justin Hilliard; Cody Huff; Lauren Lindsay; Blake, Bryant and Bryce Butler; Kaitlyn and Coulter Walker; Allison, Christopher and Nickolas Huff; several step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Huff, whom she marriage May 29, 1937 and whom passed away April 26, 2003; four brothers, Darrell, James, Charles and Clair Matson; and one sister, Hazel M. McCandless; one son-in-law; and one daughter-in-law. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. There will be no visitation on Thanksgiving day.

Services will be held at Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 1:45 p.m. with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Pastor Donald Short of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church and Pastor Robert A. Huber of North Street Christian Church, will be officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Memorial Donations may be made to Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 East Diamond Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, 16001 or VNA Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Frances Eilleen Hilliard

December 13, 1930 ~ November 16, 2010

Frances Eilleen Hilliard, age 79 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 6:55 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia.

Born December 13, 1930 in Midland, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Orie Walker and Frances (Boyer) Walker.

Mrs. Hilliard was a homemaker and a member of North Street Christian Church.

Mrs. Hilliard is survived by three sons, Jon and his wife Jodi Hilliard of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jay and his wife Kelly Hilliard of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Mark and his wife Denise Kiser of Butler, Pennsylvania; one step-son, Ed and his wife Kim Hilliard of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; one step-daughter, Cindy Hilliard, California; seven grandchildren, Sandy Dean, Mallory LaPorte, Laken Morrow, Cory Hilliard, Amanda Hilliard, Cole Hilliard, Elijah Hilliard; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hilliard was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Hilliard, whom she marriage on October 8, 1970; and by one son, David Kiser.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, November 19, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. from the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Dr. J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.

Edith L. Fennick

October 25, 1921 ~ November 16, 2010

Edith L. Fennick, age 89 of Sunnyview Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 6:10 p.m. in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born October 25, 1921 in McMechen, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Church and Ethel Prettyman Church.

Mrs. Fennick was a homemaker and also worked at Troutman's in the shoe department. She was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. Edith was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elks Lodge, volunteered at Butler Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Armco Country Club. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and enjoyed traveling.

Mrs. Fennick is survived by one son, Robert C Fennick and his wife, Carol, of Butler, Pennsylvania; Five grandchildren, Eleven great-grand children, a number of nieces and nephews; and one sister, Mrs. William (Ina Mae) Elliot of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Fennick was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Fennick, whom passed away on September 12, 1989; one son and one brother..

There will be no public visitation.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Dennis L. Molnar of Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Contributions may be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Anna Marie LeFever

September 26, 1917 ~ November 9, 2010

Anna Marie LeFever, 93 of Renfrew, passed away peacefully in the presence of her three daughters on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Care Center in Mars, where she resided the past two years.

Anna was the widow of the late Dallas S. LeFever and the beloved mother of Deloris Ketchem of Penn Township, Joan Mayer of Renfrew, Carol Winzeler of Moon Township and the late Joseph LeFever. Anna is survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Michelle Ketchem, preceded her in death.

Anna loved homemaking and was especially proud of her pies. Anna's quiet, gentle nature and subtle sense of humor endeared her to many. She left family and friends with lasting memories of her love and playfulness that they will continue to enjoy and share with all who knew her.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following with John Hoogebrugge, Chaplain at St. John Lutheran Care Center in Mars, Pennsylvania, officiating.

Interment will be in Brownsdale Cemetery.

Lynn Cochran Burtner

November 18, 1928 ~November 6, 2010

Lynn Cochran Burtner, age 81 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 1:45 p.m in the Emergency Room at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born November 18, 1928 in Grove City, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Clare S. Burtner and Nelle (Cochran) Burtner.

Mr. Burtner graduated from Butler High School. He then went to Grove City College, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and a Registered Land Surveyor. Mr. Burtner was employed as a Chemical Engineer for Witco Corporation in Petrolia, Pennsylvania retiring in 1995 after 37 years of service.

Mr. Burtner was active in the local Chapter of The Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. He was honored as "Engineer of the year" in 1990 and was appointed to the Governor's Energy Action Committee (Pennsylvania) from 1979 to 1982. He served Butler County Commissioners from 1982 to 1990 as a consultant committee for "Critical Bridge Repair".

Mr. Burtner served on the Boy Scout Executive Board, a judge for State and Regional Junior Academy of Science, an Advisor for DeMolay for Boys and Rainbow Girls. He was a 31 year member of the Butler Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Burtner was a 56 year member of the #540 Chicora Argyle Lodge F & AM and a retired District Deputy Grand Master of the 27th Masonic District of Pennsylvania. He is a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was distinguished in numerous Masonic Bodies throughout the state.

Mr. Burtner was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He also taught the Seekers' Sunday School Class of that Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Burtner is survived by his wife, Mattie Burtner whom he marriage on April 21, 1954; two daughters, Holly Burtner- Moore of Butler, Pennsylvania and Germaine Schaeffer and her husband, Craig of Butler, Pennsylvania; one grand-daughter, Sadie Evelyn Schaffer; one grandson, Miles Evan Schaeffer; one sister, Nelle Jean Reardon of Plain City, Ohio.

Mr. Burtner was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers and his son-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Barry Keurelainen of St. Luke Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Concordia at the Orchard, 1312 North Main Street Extension, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Officers and members of the #540 Chicora Argyle Lodge F& AM will conduct memorial services at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. on November 10, 2010.

Lloyd G. "Bebe" Leight

September 27, 1941 ~ November 4, 2010

Lloyd G. "Bebe" Leight, age 69 of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 7:50 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born September 27, 1941 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Lloyd E. Leight and Marian Cottrill Leight.

Mr. Leight was a member of North Street Christian Church. He worked in the paint shop at Pullman Standard Company.

Mr. Leight is survived by one son, Robert Leight of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Cindy Reed of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania and Joni and her husband Tom Glasgow of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six grandchildren, one great grand-daughter, two brothers, Ronald and his wife Judy Leight of Butler, Pennsylvania and Edward Leight of Butler, Pennsylvania; one sister Florence and her husband Donald Buongiorne of Rochester, New York. and number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Leight was preceded in death by wife, Joyce A. Leight whom her marriage on August 8, 1963 and passed away on March 30, 2010 and also by one brother, Gary L. Leight.

There will be no public visitation

A memorial services will be held at the convenience of his family .

Charles "Chuck" Joseph Schlicht

September 3, 1926 ~ November 4, 2010

Charles "Chuck" Joseph Schlicht, age 84 of Park Crest Lane, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 2:01 p.m. in the Allegheny General Hospital.

Born September 3, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Peter A. Schlicht and Mary Delaney Schlicht.

Mr. Schlicht was the owner of Butler-Shearer Hardware retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World World II and the Korean War. Mr. Schlicht was a life member of the Elk's Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the American Legion Post #117, Theta Xi Fraternity, Alumni of Carnegie Mellon and a past member of the Lion's Club. Mr. Schlicht enjoyed sailing, finances, and dabbling in hardware after his retirement.

Mr. Schlicht is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Lang) Schlicht whom he marriage on September 15, 1951 two sons, C. Andrew Schlicht of Butler, Pennsylvania and Peter F. Schlicht and his wife Anne of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Lisa A. McPeak and her husband, Bart of Federal Way, Washington; four grand-daughters, Audrey J. Schlicht of Monroville, Pennsylvania, Kerry B. Schlicht of Eugene, Oregon, Celena V. McPeak of Federal Way, Washington and Chloe J. McPeak of Federal Way, Washington and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schlicht was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, John and Vincent Hanratty.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. on November 8, 2010 at the church to recite the rosary.

Members and Officers of Butler Elks will assemble at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 to conduct a memorial service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to American Heart Association/American Stoke Association, P.O. Box 163549, Columbus, Ohio, 43216-3549.
