Marceda Belle Deal, age 77 of Colfax Avenue, East Butler, Pennsylvania, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 24, 2010 at 7:02 a.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.

Born March 11, 1933 in Butler Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Vance Wonderly and Daisy Lewis Wonderly.

Mrs. Deal was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church where she was very active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and head deaconess for 23 years and was involved in the women's missionary and prayer fellowship. Mrs. Deal was also involved with the Brownies, Girl Scouts and Child Evangelism.

Mrs. Deal is survived by her husband, Roy Deal whom she marriage on June 21, 1952; three sons, Roy Deal, Jr.and his wife Lynn of Butler, Pennsylvania, Terry Deal and his wife Brenda of Karns City, Pennsylvania, and Daniel Deal and his wife Debbie of Butler, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Deborah Schulter of Butler, Pennsylvania, Katheleen Deal of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Marcia Grates and her husband Danny of East Butler, Pennsylvania, twenty-one grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one brother, Vance Wonderly, Jr., Burghill Ohio; four sisters, Beatrice Welch of Butler, Pennsylvania, Bonnie Grossman of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Carol Bohr of Youngstown, Ohio, and Vivian King of Butler, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Deal was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine in August 2000, and son-in-law George Schulter, Sr.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and Monday, September 27, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church.

Services will be held at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Jenks of Faith Fellowship Alliance Church and Chaplin Tom Spiker officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Family suggests donations be made to the Missionary Fund at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way - Fared Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or to Grane Hospice, 105 Gamma Drive, #100, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15238-2991.

Geraldine Elizabeth Swartz

March 2, 1931 ~ September 23, 2010

Geraldine Elizabeth Swartz, age 79 of Sunnyview Home and Rehabilitation Center, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 4:40 a.m. in the Sunnyview Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 2, 1931 in Richland Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of the late Homer Theodore Hess and Lois Geraldine Hess.

Mrs. Swartz was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler, Pennsylvania. She worked at various administrative positions with Boise Cascade and Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Mrs. Swartz was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The Read Hat Society. She graduated from Bradford Senior High School in 1948. She enjoyed cooking, reading, genealogy and watching football.

Mrs. Swartz is survived by one son, Robert A. and his wife, Elizabeth Swartz of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Teresa A. Swartz and life partner Nancy Wise of Arroyo Grande, California and Elizabeth A. Swartz and her husband, John Crittenden of Alexandria, Virginia; four granddaughters, Jennifer Rebecca Ryan and her husband Edward of Holmdel, New Jersey, Brandie Elizabeth Klee and her husband, John of Butler, Pennsylvania, Emily Mae McMullen and her husband, Joseph of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and Meghan Marie Nunes and her husband, Troy of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by seven great grandsons, Eamonn, Eoghan and Echlin Ryan of Holmdel, New Jersey, Aiden, Ethan and Colin Klee of Butler, Pennsylvania and Tavian Nunes of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; two sisters, R. Jean Hutton of Bradford, Pennsylvania, and Thelma Niver of Navarre, Ohio; three brothers, Frank Hess of Wooster, Ohio, Homer Hess of Bowling Green, Kentucky and James Larry Hess of Parma, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Swartz was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Swartz, her parents and one brother, Theodore Hess.

A private memorial service for family and close friends of Geraldine's will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Butler on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or the American Cancer Society Butler County Unit, P.O. Box 3014, Butler, Pennsylvania 16003.

Shirley M. Heitzer

February 22, 1948 ~ September 18, 2010

Shirley M. Heitzer, age 62, of Butler, Pennsylvania, died September 18, 2010 at 4:44 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia.

Born February 22, 1948 in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Mike DeVore and the late Goldie Ross DeVore.

Mrs. Heitzer retired in 2010, after 42 years as an electric tester on cores at Magnetics in East Butler, Pennsylvania where she worked with her circle of friends. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Shirley was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed going to the beach at St. Augustine, Florida. She enjoyed tatting, knitting and crocheting and also loved to read.

Mrs. Heitzer is survived by her husband, Tony P. Heitzer whom she marriage on November 30, 1968 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, by one son, Eric P Heitzer of Butler, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Janie and her husband Dick Campbell of Butler, Pennsylvania, Nancy Burns of Herman, Pennsylvania, and Linda and her husband Chuck Gibson of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law, Pam DeVore of Grove City, Pennsylvania; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Heitzer was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Mike DeVore.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. with Father James W. Dolan of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Greater Pittsburgh, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205.

The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the church to recite the Rosary.

Evelyn L. Milliron

February 26, 1929 ~ October 15, 2010

Evelyn L. Milliron, age 81 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at 7:31 p.m. in The Western Pennsylvania Hospital Forbes Regional Campus in Monroeville, Pennsylvania .

Born February 26, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late L. Kenneth Davis and Ruth V. Bowser Davis .

Mrs. Milliron was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She worked as a Nursing Assistant at the VA Medical Center retiring in 1993 after 25 years of service. Mrs. Milliron enjoyed Bingo, and bus trips to casinos with her friends.

Mrs. Milliron is survived by two daughters, Judith A. Linn of Butler, Pennsylvania and Ruthane M. and her husband Nicholas Durso of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Michael R. Linn and Nicole R. Hays both of Butler and Jacob J. Durso, Noah J. Durso and Daniel J. Durso of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; and one great granddaughter Ava Marie Shirley.

Mrs. Milliron was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda C. Durso and also by one brother, Kenneth P. Davis .

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Billy Edminston officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Lois Stokes

July 12, 1915 ~ October 15, 2010

Lois Stokes, age 95 of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Pleasantview Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania died friday, October 15, 2010 at 6:05 p.m. in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Butler, Pennsylvania.

Born July 12, 1915 in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Teets and the late Evelyn Louise Dumbaugh Teets.

Mrs. Stokes was a homemaker. She is a member of Christ Outreach Church, which was formerly St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was very active in her church, were she served as the chairman of the soup and salad fundraisers for a number of years. She was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center. She loved playing cards, traveling and visited all 50 states and she also enjoyed working on the family genealogy.

She is survived by three sons, David Wogan and his wife, Darlene, of East Brady, Pennsylvania, Donald Wogan and his wife, Pennie, of Butler, Pennsylvania, and John Wogan and his wife, Elaine, of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Evelyn Kennedy and her husband, Donald, of Butler, Pennsylvania and Janet Federkeil and her husband, John, of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren, Karen Link, Susan Dimsa, Holly Galioto, Dana Little, Kim Shay, Gordon and Brian Kennedy, Andrew Federkeil, Corinne Marhel, Todd, Jason and John Wogan, Jr.; twenty-six great grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Clara Cunningham of Zelienople, Pennsylvania and by a brother-in-law, Melvin (Red) Kyle, Butler, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Betty Mansfield of Wimberley, Texas and Ginger Angus and her husband, Philip, of Carnegie, Pennsylvania; two stepsons, James E. Stokes and his wife, Louise, of Hobe Sound, Florida and Bruce Stokes and his wife, Clydene, of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and by six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Wogan, who was deceased November 4, 1978 and by her second husband, James Stokes, who was deceased July 31, 2010.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 1:30 p.m with Reverend Ralph Link, retired pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Opal Ruth Everton

March 21, 1921 ~ October 13, 2010

Opal Ruth Everton, age 89, of White Oak, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 6:30 a.m. in the Senior Care Plaza in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Born March 21, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Garth Weigle and Mabel Davis Weigle.

Mrs. Everton was a Department Manager for Montgomery Wards in Butler, Pennsylvania. She worked many years as an election official. She was a life member of North Street Christian Church in Butler, Pennsylvania where she served as Financial Secretary, Deaconess and a member of the Homebuilders Class. She was a member of the Butler Women's Club, Penn State Corporate Agriculture Extension, Butler County and Women's Card Club. She enjoyed crafts, church work and playing cards. Mrs. Everton graduated from Butler High School in 1939.

Mrs. Everton is survived by one daughter, Kathie and her husband Ray Beard of White Oak, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; Jeff and his wife Paula Everton of Butler, Pennsylvania, Kelly Everton of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Martin Beard of White Oak, Pennsylvania; six Great-Grandchildren; Reanna, Zander, Emmitt, Daniel, Douglas and Emma; one brother, Art and his wife Phyllis Weigle of Butler, Pennsylvania; one daughter-in-law, Peg Baron of Butler, Pennsylvania; and a number of nieces and nephews,

Mrs. Everton was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Everton whom she marriage on April 13, 1940 and passed away on June 7, 1992; two sons, Richard and Carl Everton; and three sisters, Mary Allen, Esther Shields and Virginia Hambleton..

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert C. Huber of North Street Christian Church and Pastor Ray Beard, son-in-law of the deceased and pastor of the First Christian Church of McKeesport officiating. Concetta "Nonna" Costa

April 9, 1920 ~ October 12, 2010

Concetta "Nonna" Costa, age 90 of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Alexius Hospital.

Born April 9, 1920 in Piazza Armerina, Siciliy, Italy she was the daughter of the late Paolo Costa and Salvatrice Milazzo Costa.

Concetta grew up in Sicily and moved to Milan, Italy where she worked as a seamstress until she was 72. She moved to America to live with her daughter, Giuseppa (Pina) Meder in 1994. She was a life-long Catholic and enjoyed politics, sewing, cooking, family and a need to help others.

Concetta is survived by three sons, Santino Pisano, Gaetano Pisano and Paolo Pisano all of Italy; two daughters, Salvatrice Spagnola of Italy and Giuseppa (Pina) Meder of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren, Francesco Zappala of Italy, Concetta Zappala of Butler, Pennsylvania, Lerrizia Zappala of Florida, Alexander Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Christopher Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Rosaria Latina of Italy, Marimo Pisano of Italy, Marco Pisano of Italy, Amedeo Pisano of Italy, Rosella Pisano of Italy, Davide Pisano of Italy, Concetta Latina of Italy, Tiziana Pisano of Italy, Daniele Pisano of Italy, Piero Pisano of Italy, Domenico Latina of Italy, Tamara Pisano of Italy, Claudia Allen, Florida; nineteen great-grandchildren, Victoria Baptiste of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jordan Meder of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, Brandon Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Aubrey Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Michaela Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Kaitlyn Meder of Portersville, Pennsylvania;Tiffany Duncan of Butler, Pennsylvania, Samantha Zappala of Italy, Jonathan Baptiste of Butler, Pennsylvania, Francesco Spagnolo of Italy, Manuel Spagnolo of Italy, Gary Spagnolo of Italy, Francesca Latina of Italy, Nicole Pisano of Italy, Veronica Pisano of Italy, Giulio Spena of Italy, Angela Spena of Italy, Roberto Pisano of Italy, Jasmine Pisano of Italy; and one sister, Carolina Pisano, of Italy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pietro Pisano, who passed away in 1995.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Steven Neff officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. on October 22, 2010 at the church to recite the rosary.
