Reverend Dr. C. Kenneth Hall

November 12, 1924 - October 15, 2004

The Reverend Dr. C. Kenneth Hall beloved husband, father, pastor, and friend passed away peacefully at 1:00 p.m. on October 15, 2004 at Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was born on November 12, 1924 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to parents Myrtle S. and Charles F. Upon graduating from Carnegie High School in 1942, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, where he was assigned to radar repair on an aircraft carrier. After being discharged in 1946, he enrolled at Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University), where he graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed as a Chemical Engineer at the Gulf Research and Development Company for three years, from 1948 to 1951, when he received the calling to become a minister. He enrolled at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1952, graduating in 1954 with a Master of Divinity degree; and being ordained by the Monongahela Presbytery (UP Church of NA) on May 22, 1954. (He returned to the Seminary to receive his Doctorate of Ministry in 1978.) His first "assignment" was as Pastor of the Jefferson United Presbyterian Church in Gill Hall, Pennsylvania where he served from 1954 to 1957. He was then summoned to come to Butler, where he served as Pastor of the Hill United Presbyterian Church from 1957-1988; and then from 1989-1991. He had become involved with the General Assembly in 1980, serving on the Mission Council and its Executive Committee until 1983, after which he was promoted to Chairperson in 1984. Being concerned about the problems in Northern Ireland, he joined the Presbyterian Committee on Northern Ireland in 1988, traveling there several years for the Irish Summer Institute. He then took a year's sabbatical from Hill Church when he was elected Moderator of the 200th General Assembly (Presbyterian Church USA) in 1988. By the end of 1991, he retired to take a new "assignment" as Minister at Large for the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation, where he served until his retirement in July of 2003. He once said that between working for the Foundation and being Moderator that he had been to almost every state in the Union and almost every country in the world. He continued to be involved with the Pittsburgh Seminary, serving on the Board of Directors from 1993-1996 and on the board of Trustees at the University of Dubuque from 1997-2000. The Seminary honored him with a Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1991.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Kurtz, whom he marriage on June 1956; a daughter, Carole S., at home; a son, Roger A. of Brooklin, Maine.

A memorial service will be held at the Hill United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.

William F. Browning

February 15, 1924 - October 15, 2004

William F. Browning, 80 of North Main Street, Butler, died Friday, October 15, 2004 at 2:00 a.m. at his residence.

Born February 15, 1924 in Scottdale, he was the son of Frank Browning and Ruth Long.

He worked as a crane operator for Union local #137, New York. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of WWII where he fought in the European Theater with U. S. Army 71st Infantry Division. He was a member of local 137 International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of Philipstown lodge #236 F & AM and the Valley of White Plains Consistory.

Mr. Browning is survived by one brother, Robert Browning, three nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Browning was precede in death by his wife, Lila M. Browning, who passed away on November 9, 2002, and by two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Kate Filer pastor at St. Andrews U. P. Church officiating. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery, Rockland, Pennsylvania.

Raymond P. McCue

November 1, 1953 - October 14, 2004

Raymond P. McCue, 50 of Old Route 422, Fenelton, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at 9:25 p.m. at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born November 1, 1953 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late John D. McCue and Catherine S. McGradey.

Mr. McCue worked as a steelworker in plant two shipping for Armco, retiring in 2001 following 25 plus years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, pool, horseshoes, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. McCue is survived by his wife, Karen Thompson McCue, whom he marriage on June 12, 1998, by two daughters, Misty Lynn McCue of Cranberry, Pennsylvania, Angela Diane McCue and a son, Patrick Burton McCue both at home. He is also survived by nine brothers, Don McCue of Connelville, Pennsylvania, Bernard McCue of State College, Gary McCue of Butler, Pennsylvania, Paul McCue of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, John McCue of Butler, Pennsylvania, David McCue of Worthington, Pennsylvania, Melvin McCue of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, Bill McCue of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania and Ken McCue of Worthington, Pennsylvania

Mr. McCue is preceded in death by a brother, Wayne and his parents.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Saturday, October 16, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, October 17, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the St. John's Catholic Church, Monday, October 18, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Louis Pascazi officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the children; Misty Lynn McCue, Angela Diane McCue, and Patrick Burton McCue at 2934 East Old Route 422, Fenelton, Pennsylvania 16034.

Elsie May Heichel

October 13, 1927 - October 9, 2004

Elsie May Heichel, 76 of Crisswell Road, Butler, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 2:50 a.m. in Allegheny General Hospital.

Born October 13, 1927 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William C. Mitchell and Ruth Steffan.

Mrs. Heichel was a homemaker. She was a member of Community Alliance Church and the Alliance Women at her church. She was also a member of RVICS; she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and sewing. Mrs. Heichel was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Heichel is survived by her second husband Robert L. Heichel, whom she marriage on December 14, 1972 by five sons, Harry Dodds of Butler, Pennsylvania, Larry and his wife Lynn Dodds of Virginia, Stanley and his wife Cecelia Dodds of Butler, Pennsylvania, Douglas and his wife Cindy Dodds of Butler, Pennsylvania, Brian and his wife Kimberly Dodds of Chicora, Pennsylvania, three daughters, Susan and her husband Dennis Protzman, Christine and her husband Wendell Uhl of Michigan, Rebecca and her husband Tony McCrackin of Florida, by twenty-two grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one brother, James Mitchell of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, three sisters, June Moore of Murraysville, Pennsylvania, Thelma Drescher, of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Dorathy Farnen of Butler, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Heichel was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry W. Dodds, Jr. who passed away on May 29, 1970, by two grandchildren, 2 brothers and a daughter-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Monday, October 11, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 12th from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Services will be held at the Community Alliance Church, Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Ted Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope House Ministries, 368 Crisswell Road, Butler, Pennsylvania 16002.

Benjamin Warren Eberle

March 29, 1994 - October 8, 2004

Benjamin Warren Eberle, 10 of Heist Road, Butler, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at 8:45 p.m. at his residence.

Born March 29, 1994 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of William David Eberle and Audrey Farr.

He was a fifth grade student at Clearfield Elementary School. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He played the trumpet and belonged to the school chorus. He was a Webelo in Cub Scout Pack 29. He loved science, nature, art and building things with his hands. He wanted to be a geologist.

In addition to his parents, Benjamin is survived by two brothers, David Lyle Eberle, Charles (Charlie) William Eberle, three sisters, Kathryn (Kate) Shirleen Eberle, Audrey Margret Eberle, Hannah Elizabeth Eberle, all at home, by his maternal grandparents, E. Lyle and Shirleen T. Farr of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Richard C. Hartung officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Garnita G. Bouse

December 12, 1921 - December 31, 2004

Garnita G. Bouse, age 83, formerly of New Castle Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, December 31, 2004 at 6:25 a.m. in Orchard Manor in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

Born December 12, 1921 in Bellvue, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Robert Isaac Keister and the late Minnie Minerva Keister Zechman.

Mrs. Bouse was a 1939 graduate of Bellvue High School and she was employed as a telephone operator for Bellvue Phone Company for 11 years. Mrs. Bouse was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Tanglewood Senior Center and the Tanglewood Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and camping.

Mrs. Bouse is survived by her son, Philip Bouse of Butler, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Mrs. Warren (Phyllis) Whetzel of Barkeyville, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Her husband, Kenneth Charles Bouse, whom she marriage June 17, 1950, died August 26, 1979. A brother also preceded her in death.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday January 2, 2005 from 7 to 9.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. Monday January 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Leseganich, her church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
