Rev. Lorenz W. Blankenbuehler

The Rev. Lorenz W. Blankenbuehler, 84, of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot, died Friday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born in Portland, Ore., Jan. 18. 1919, he was the son of the Rev. Lorenz F. and Elsa Johanna Pieper Blankenbuehler

He was a 1943 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo. During more than 50 years in the ministry, he served at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Portsmouth, Va.; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, W.Va.; Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hampton, Va.; First Trinity Lutheran Church, Pittsburgh; and Pentecost Lutheran Church, Avella. He then moved to Concordia, where he was chaplain from 1984 to the present.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy H. Aune Blankenbuehler, whom he married June 3, 1946; three daughters, Mrs. Demetrios (Connie) Mavroudis of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Frederick (June) Bodnar of Allison Park and Marla Michaels of Portland, Maine; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

BLANKENBUEHLER - Friends of the Rev. Lorenz W. Blankenbuehler, who died Friday, July 18, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot, with the Rev. Barry Keurulainen officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 615 N. Pike Road, Cabot, PA 16023.

Anne Zarenko Sharek

Anne Jean Zarenko Sharek, 45, of North Liberty-Plain Grove Road, Liberty Township, Mercer County, died at 11:15 p.m. Friday at United Community Hospital, Grove City, after a long illness.

Born April 17, 1958, in Wilkinsburg, she was the daughter of Anna Popovich Zarenko and the late Alex Paul Zarenko.

She had been a phlebotomist at United Community Hospital. She loved gardening, canning and her flowers. She liked to cook for everyone. She was also helping anyone who needed help and was very kind.

She was a beloved wife, daughter, sister and aunt and is survived by her husband, Louis Joseph Sharek, whom she married Oct. 3, 1981; her mother of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Shirley A. Zarenko of Wexford and Judith L. Zarenko of Butler; and four brothers, Robert A. Zarenko of Delmont, Ronald P. Zarenko of Murrysville, Alex P. Zarenko of Gibsonia and Randy L. Zarenko of Pittsburgh. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

SHAREK - Friends of Anne Jean Zarenko Sharek, who died Friday, July 18, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.

Julia Malinosky

Julia Malinosky, 84, of Valencia died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday at her home.

Born in Russellton, April 20, 1919, she was the daughter of Andrew and Anna Kiedzinch Murin.

She was a homemaker and an active member of the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, Glade Mills.

Surviving are her husband, John “Bing” Malinosky, whom she married July 19, 1974; a son, George D. “Sonny” Liko of Bairdford; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Sandy) Pollino of New Kensington and Mrs. Frank (Georgine) Lombardo of Bairdford; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Susa of Sarver and Mrs. Andrew (Alice) Susa of Springdale, also survive.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

MALINOSKY - Friends of Julia Malinosky, who died Sunday, July 20, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Sepulcher Roman Church, Glade Mills. The Rev. John Maloney will officiate. Burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery , Harmer Township.

Fred Gellner

Fred Gellner, 66, of Portersville died of natural causes Saturday night at Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Born Nov. 13, 1936, in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of Irvin William and Margaret Helen Lenacher Gellner.

He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Air Force Museum Foundation. He also belonged to the Northwest Pennsylvania Steam Engine & Old Equipment Association, where he had served as treasurer for 30 years. He was a Protestant

Mr. Gellner retired from Pittsburgh Tube Co. after 33 years and was the founder and owner of Gellner’s, the Arctic Cat dealership in Portersville.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Louisa Catlett Gellner, whom he married May 14, 1960; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Brenda) Moore of Portersville and Mrs. David (Betty) Kirkwood of Cabot; a son, Brian Gellner of New Castle; and a grandson. Two sisters, Mrs. Cliff (Marguerite) Custer of Oakdale and Mrs. Donald (Lily) Snider of Wheeling; and a brother, Irvin William Gellner Jr. of Cleveland, Okla., also survive.

A daughter and a sister preceded him in death.

GELLNER - Friends of Fred Gellner, who died Saturday, July 19, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 443 Main St., Prospect. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church of Portersville. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery .

Vincent Galati

Vincent Galati, 61, of Penn Township died Sunday at home.

Born Feb. 16, 1942, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Vito and Francis Ruffa Galati.

He was the owner of R. Galati Landscaping in Butler for 15 years.

Mr. Galati was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He enjoyed drag racing.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Nagy Galati, whom he married Dec. 24, 1974.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Galati and David Galati, both of Butler; two brothers, Paul Galati of Canonsburg and Vito Galati of McMurray; and one granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.

GALATI - Friends of Vincent Galati, who died Sunday, July 20, 2003, will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will follow at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Anslam, pastor of Holy Trinity Monastery, officiating.

Arthur ‘Sticks’ Silk

Arthur “Sticks” Silk, 89, of Butler died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 29, 1913, in Butler, he was a son of Ted and Sadie Wolfe Silk.

He retired as a taxi driver, having worked for Reed Taxi Service. He also had worked for Royal, Butler and Swan taxi companies in Butler.

Mr. Silk was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 64.

Surviving are a daughter, Joann Snodgrass of Butler; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

His wife, Pauline Kutch Silk, died Jan. 19, 1995. A sister also preceded him in death.

SILK - Friends of Arthur “Sticks” Silk, who died Monday, July 21, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Additional arrangements are incomplete.

Regis F. Schultz

Regis F. Schultz, 67, of Butler died July 14 at his home.

Born March 16, 1936, in Templeton, he was the son of Veto and Sarabell Anderson Schultz.

He retired as a partner and superintendent at J&R Co-op Construction after 20 years. He had also worked at the Harbison Walker Brickyard in Templeton, and he had been a self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Schultz was a Wesleyan Methodist and a Mason.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Rutkoski Schultz; three sons, Wesley Schultz of Worthington, Ralph Schultz of Templeton and David Schultz of New Bethlehem; a daughter, LaVonne Henderson of Templeton; two stepsons, Greg Savage of Valencia and Mark Savage of Butler; and two brothers, Dale Schultz of Ringgold and Jack Schultz of New Bethlehem.

Also surviving are three sisters, Doris Ann Swast of Dayton, Barbara Schultz of Winesburg, Ohio, and Sharon Weaver of Dalton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

SCHULTZ - A memorial service for Regis F. Schultz, who died July 14, 2003, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cottage Hill Wesleyan Methodist Church, New Bethlehem. SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, Kittanning, is handling arrangements.

William J. Rockenstein

William J. Rockenstein, 90, formerly of Butler, died Sunday evening at Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia. He moved to Wheeling from Butler in 1989.

Born in Butler, March 21, 1913, he was a son of William and Martha Crail Rockenstein.

A retired attorney, he had practiced in Butler for years and was a past president of the Butler County Bar Association and a past district governor of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Mr. Rockenstein was a 1934 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned a J.D., doctor of laws degree, in 1937 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. From June 1942 until September 1945, he was a special agent in the FBI and was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI.

He was a former member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, where he served on the parish council. He also was a past grand knight of the Butler Council of Knights of Columbus, a former member of the board of directors of Butler Country Club, past president of the Butler County Serra Club and formerly was a board member of the Butler County Symphony Society and the Bishops Human Rights Commission for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Nancy) Roth of Howey-in-the Hills, Fla., and Mrs. Jeffrey (Ann) McGeary of Wheeling, W.Va.; a son, Joseph Rockenstein of Sylva, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

ROCKENSTEIN - Friends of William J. Rockenstein, Esquire, who died Sunday, July 20, 2003, will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St. His nephew, the Rev. John Dillon of Maryland, will officiate. The burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery .

The Women’s Council of St. Peter will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.

Peter Negley Heilman

Peter Negley Heilman, 59, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., died Oct. 1, 2002.

Born July 1, 1943, he was the younger son of the late John P. and Marjorie W. Heilman.

He was a well-known church organist, having served churches in Butler, New York, N.Y., Bridgeport, Conn., and Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Fla. His last position was as organist and choirmaster of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for nearly 20 years.

Mr. Heilman attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., and Guilmont Organ School, New York, N.Y. He was a well-known and respected concert performer and service player. He was president of Note-Able Talent of Boca Raton and was affiliated with Dunne Music Co. of Pompano Beach, Fla.

He is survived by a brother, Dr. John P. Heilman Jr., and his spouse Peggy, of Clearwater, Fla.; two nephews, Mark R. Heilman and spouse Angela of Durham, N.C., and John P. Heilman III of Atlanta, Ga.; and a grandniece and grandnephew, Taylor Katherine and John Hunter Heilman, both of Durham.

HEILMAN - A graveside service for Peter Negley Heilman, who died Oct. 1, 2002, and for his mother, Marjorie West Heilman, who died Nov. 16, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Side Cemetery . The Rev. Monica Hamilton, pastor of Covenant United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.

Peter Negley Heilman, who died Oct. 1, 2002, was from Boca Raton, Fla. His city of residence was incorrect in the obituary in Tuesday’s newspaper.

Marjorie West Heilman

Marjorie West Heilman, 93, of Carrington Place Convalescent Center, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Boca Raton, Fla., and of Butler, died at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 16, 2002, at Carrington Place.

Born Sept. 19, 1909, in Scranton, she was the daughter of Harold V. and Helen Hetzel West.

She was a longtime member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church, where she served for years as a Sunday school teacher and youth activities adviser. She also served on the Women’s Christian Education Committee of the Butler Council of Churches and was director of the Weekday Released-time Religious Education Program for several years.

Mrs. Heilman was a past member of the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Women’s associations, Ridgeview and St. Jude’s country clubs and the Butler Hospital Auxiliary

Surviving are a son, Dr. John P. Heilman Jr., and his spouse Peggy, of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandsons, Mark R. Heilman, and spouse, Angela, of Durham, N.C., and John P. Heilman III of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Katherine and John Hunter Heilman of Durham.

She married John P. Heilman, son of Dr. Arthur and Alice Patterson Heilman, May 22, 1936. He died Dec. 31, 1997. She also was preceded in death by her younger son, Peter N. Heilman, who died Oct. 1, 2002.

HEILMAN - A graveside service for Marjorie West Heilman, who died Nov. 16, 2002, and her son, Peter Negley Heilman, who died Oct. 1, 2002, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at North Side Cemetery . The Rev. Monica Hamilton, pastor of Covenant United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements.
