Norma Jean McCoy

Norma Jean McCoy, 72, of Natrona Heights died, Friday, April 4, 2003, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of William F. and Mae Edith Hollobaugh Burns Sr.

She was a homemaker and had been a certified nurses’ aide at Harmarville Rehabilitation Center and at the former Georgian Manor Nursing Home in Natrona Heights.

Mrs. McCoy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Natrona Heights and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5758 in Tarentum. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, William R. McCoy Sr., whom she married July 17, 1948; two sons, William R. McCoy Jr. of Butler and Danny McCoy of Apollo; two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Kathleen) Reedy of Waynesboro and Mrs. Howard (Janet) Mays of Southaven, Miss.; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Carol) McClafferty of Butler. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Michelle McCoy, Patrick McCoy, Patty McCoy-Roberts, Michael McCoy, Shannon Reedy, Shawn McCoy, Andy Mays, Colleen McCoy, Will McCoy, Caitlin McCoy and Teddy Reedy; a great-grandson, Zachary Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

A private viewing was held today for her family. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated today at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery . Arrangements are by GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, Butler and are available at www.geibelfuenralhome.com.

Genevieve E. Karnes

Genevieve E. “Jean” Karnes, 86, of Butler died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday at Chicora Medical Center after a short illness.

Born May 4, 1916, in Hilliards, she was the daughter of Charles and Carrie Elizabeth Wally McKissick.

She was a Protestant and belonged to the Butler County Kennel Club. She loved bowling, golfing, cake decorating and crafts.

Mrs. Karnes was self-employed as a beautician and also owned and operated Karnes Kennel in Summit Township with her husband.

Surviving are her husband, Wayne E. Karnes, whom she married Sept. 7, 1935; a daughter Elizabeth “Joy” Hoffman of Butler; a son, Larry D. Karnes of Connoquenessing; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, an infant daughter, three brothers and six sisters.

KARNES - Friends of Genevieve E. “Jean” Karnes, who died Saturday, April 5, 2003, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday at WILLIAM F. YOUNG, JR. FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will follow at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Link officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Gary L. ‘Bunk’ Carrier

Gary Leroy “Bunk” Carrier, 66, of Buffalo Township died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.

Born in New Kensington, June 24, 1936, he was the son of Leroy and Ruth Painter Carrier.

He was a naval certified welder at Westinghouse in Cheswick for 37 years and retired in 1994. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and enjoyed golfing, woodworking and yard work and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping at Westerman’s Hardware in Buffalo Township.

Mr. Carrier was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Cabot.

Surviving are his wife, who was his high school sweetheart, Rowena Joan Zimmerman Carrier, to whom he was married for 47 years; four sons and their spouses, William and Linda Carrier of Buffalo Township, Daniel and Dawn Carrier of Morgantown, W.Va., John and Jodi Carrier of Industry and Michael and Julia Carrier of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, LuAnn and Theodore Keener of Slate Lick, Teri Jo Carrier of Leechburg and Joan and Douglas Hilliard of Saxonburg; and 16 grandchildren. A brother, Burnett “Bud” Carrier of Sarver and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Carrier Collar and Lois Carrier Shearer.

CARRIER - Friends of Gary Leroy “Bunk” Carrier, who died Saturday, April 5, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, 524 High St., Freeport. A blessing service will be held Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Cabot, with the Rev. Michael Greb, O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery , Freeport.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 241 Fourth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222-1744; or the American Heart Association, 10 Duff Ave. Pittsburgh PA 15222.

Barry Joseph Bill

Barry Joseph Bill, 46, of Richland Township died Saturday at home.

Born May 30, 1956, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Rosella Bona Bill and the late Michael Joseph Bill.

He was employed for more than 28 years by Allegheny Parking of Pittsburgh as a manager.

Mr. Bill was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America 253 Bella Vista Lodge and St. Richard Roman Catholic Church in Richland Township.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Victoria Yaracs Bill, whom he married May 17, 1980.

Also surviving are his daughters, Lauren Bill, who attends Lehigh University, and Lisa Bill, a senior at Pine-Richland High School.

BILL - Friends of Barry Joseph Bill, who died Saturday, April 5, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the HERBERT KING JR. FUNERAL HOME, Route 8 at 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia. The Rev. Ken Oldenski will be the celebrant. Burial is in Holy Savior Cemetery .

Richard Q. Kriebel

Richard Q. “Rick” Kriebel, 45, of Whipporwill Road in Franklin Township died Monday afternoon in Beaver County of natural causes.

Born in Brookville, Sept. 5, 1957, he was the son of Quay R. and Patricia Myers Kriebel.

A 1975 alumni of Butler High School, he was a truck driver and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Kriebel was a member of the North Main Street Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. McKinnis Kriebel, whom he married July 8, 1977; two daughters, Michele L. and Rebecca M. Kriebel, both at home; his parents of Butler; a sister Mrs. Dan (Vicki) Fenstermaker of Butler; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

KRIEBEL - Friends of Richard Q. “Rick” Kriebel, who died Monday, April 7, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Brown, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.

Marion M. Heaton

Marion M. Heaton, 77, of 239 Meridian Road in Butler Township died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in West Sunbury, Feb. 19, 1926, she was the daughter of Calvin E. and Elfreda Rhodes McGinnis.

A graduate of West Sunbury High School, she had been a bookkeeper/teller at Citizens National Bank in Evans City. She also had been an office clerk at the Farm Credit office in Butler.

Mrs. Heaton was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder emeritus, music director emeritus and organized and directed choirs for 37 years. At the church, she also belonged to the Esther Circle, Trinity Trio and Trinity Fellowship, which she and her husband organized in the early 1950s.

She was a soloist and sang with Butler Symphony choirs, studied voice with Charles Myers of Slippery Rock and John Bates of Butler, and belonged to the Tuesday Musical Club, the Women’s Club of Meridian and the Artean Club of Meridian. She was an organizer, charter member and treasurer of the Evans City Music Club. She also belonged to the Butler Old Stone House Antique Car Club and the Antique Auto Club of America.

Surviving are her husband, Robert R. Heaton; a daughter, Leanne Heaton of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Jean Travaglio of West Sunbury; six nephews; a grandnephew; two grandnieces; and three great-grandnieces.

A nephew preceded her in death.

HEATON - Friends of Marion M. Heaton, who died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dennis Molnar officiating. Entombment will be at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler, PA 16001.

Pearl I. Eberhart

Pearl I. Eberhart, 92, of Sunnyview Nursing Home died at 7:20 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 12, 1911, she was the daughter of Irene Boyle.

Mrs. Eberhart lived in Blawnox for 42 years and retired in 1972 as a secretary at Fox Chapel School District. She was a Presbyterian.

Her husband, Fred L. Eberhart died Jan. 18, 1997.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vernon K. (Shirley) Larimore of Butler; a sister, Helen McCluan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Mrs. Bradley (Amy) Ruley of Butler and Jay and Sara Larimore, both of Las Vegas, Nev.

EBERHART - Friends of Pearl I. Eberhart, who died Monday, April 7, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Smith, pastor of North Main Street Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at Allegheny County Memorial Park.

Ardell M. ‘Art’ Bonzo

Ardell M. “Art” Bonzo, 70, of Economy died Tuesday.

He was a member of the Mars Alliance Church, and he was a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Bonzo retired from LTV-Aliquippa Works as an engine operator and from U.S. Foods, where he was in maintenance.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy I. Dolt Bonzo; a son, Larry Bonzo of Ambridge; a daughter, Mary Ellen Klinger of Economy; two brothers, Wilbert Bonzo of Butler and Meredith Bonzo of Fombell; three sisters, Arlene Purvis of Evans City, Betty Gosnell of Chippewa Township, Beaver County, and Marilyn Zimmerman of Harrisburg. Five grandchildren and a close friend, Patricia Ritchey of Aliquippa, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gladys Cooper Bonzo.

BONZO - Friends of Ardell M. “Art” Bonzo, who died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at MATTER TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 1133 Church St., Ambridge. Friends and family will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mars Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars, where the service will follow at noon with the Rev. Paul Cope officiating. Burial will follow at Evans City Cemetery .

Marion F. Weller

Marion F. Weller, 94, of R.D. 2 Portersville died Wednesday afternoon at her home.

Born May 9, 1908, in Butler County, she was the daughter of Ira and Martha (Stickle) Cleland.

Mrs. Weller attended the Portersville Bible Church. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and cross stitching. She was known for baking bread.

Surviving are a son, Dave J. Weller of Portersville; four daughters, Mary Barr and Alda McClymonds, both of Portersville, Mrs. Jeremiah (Edith) Riffe of California and Mrs. Ray (Lois) Bauder of Illinois; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Cleland of Florida and David Cleland of Harmony; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Weller, who died in July 1980; a daughter; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, and two sisters.

WELLER - Friends of Marion F. Weller, who died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at EDWARD L. RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME, 387 Main St., Prospect. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Portersville Bible Church, intersection of Routes 488 and 79. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Charles officiating. Burial will be at the Portersville Bible Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Portersville Bible Church Cemetery .

Doris L. Baird

Doris L. Baird, 75, of Butler died at 8 a.m. Sunday at her home.

Born May 30, 1927, in Butler County, she was a daughter of Harry and Emma Gardner Beachem.

She worked as a lunch-room monitor for Center Township Elementary School in the Butler School District for years.

Mrs. Baird was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Maqueda Chapter and various card clubs.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Baird of West Sunbury; three sons, DeWayne Jr., Richard and Dennis Baird, all of West Sunbury; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Marguerite) Reeder and Mrs. Irene Cipolla, both of Butler; a brother, N. Kenneth Beacham of Butler; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, DeWayne Baird Sr., who died June 19, 1999, and a brother.

BAIRD - Friends of Doris L. Baird, who died Sunday, March 30, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Campbell, pastor of Faith United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Sunbury Union Cemetery .
