Mary Catherine Snyder

Mary Catherine Snyder, 85, of Butler died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Autumn Grove Care Center, Harrisville.

She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Dunlap, Pa.

She had worked in the housekeeping department at Sunnyview Nursing Home and also had worked at Natili-North Restaurant.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Chippero of Butler; a granddaughter, Anita Chippero of Butler; and five brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gustine Chippero.

Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler.

Lewis A. ‘Bubby’ Moore

Lewis A. “Bubby” Moore, 83, of New Brighton and formerly of Oak Springs Trailer Court in Zelienople died Tuesday at the Beverly Hills Care Home in Oakmont.

Born May 21, 1918, in New Brighton, Beaver County, he was the son of Louis and Theresa Pasqua Moore.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicki Moore Galat of Ambridge; a sister, Mary Jane Hansen of Florida; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Clark Moore, who died May 16, 1990, and whom he married Nov. 22, 1947.

Also preceding him in death was a daughter.

MOORE - Friends of Lewis A. “Bubby” Moore, who died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Wayne B. Moore

Wayne B. Moore, 47, of Cushing, Minn., formerly of Zelienople, died April 29, 2002.

Born July 3, 1954, in Butler, he was the son of Louise Slaughenhoupt Moore Morrison and the late Hubert Moore.

After graduating from Seneca Valley High School in 1973, he enlisted in the Army and served until 1977. He then went to St. Cloud State University and received a degree in energy conservation.

He enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 1985, was a full-time employee at Camp Ripley and recently was promoted to the rank of first sergeant.

Mr. Moore was active in many sports and organizations. He was an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Colleen Donnay Moore; a daughter, Mary Moore, and a son, David Moore, both at home. Also surviving are his mother of Parker; three brothers, Thomas Moore of Parker and Robert Moore and Gregory Slagle, both of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Ray Eugene Mohr

Ray “Loppy” Eugene Mohr, 76, Simi Valley, Calif., and formerly of Zelienople died Saturday at his home from complications from Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsey, a disease similar to Parkinson’s.

He was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Zelienople, where he lived for more than 60 years.

He was a truck driver for Fort Pitt Meats for more than 30 years and served in World War II.

He retired in 1988, and shortly thereafter he and his wife moved to California to be with their children. As a part-time job, he managed apartments with his wife.

He enjoyed camping, water-skiing, and attending baseball and softball games.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, whom he married in 1949; four children, Nancy Mohr of Simi Valley, Dave Mohr of Palmdale, Calif., Jack Mohr of Benton, Ill., and Suzanne Mackrell of Buellton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; his brother, John “Jake” Mohr, his sister-in-law Nancy Wingard; and numerous cousins.

MOHR - A special memorial service for Ray “Loppy” Eugene Mohr, who died Saturday, May 11, 2002, will be at 6:30 p.m. May 22 at Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations can be given to The Society for Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy, c/o Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.

Aletha C. Humphrey

Aletha C. Humphrey, 99, of Stuart, Fla., formerly of St. Cloud, Fla., and Harrisville, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday at Martin Nursing and Restorative Care Center, Stuart.

Born in Marion Township, Feb. 20, 1903, she was the daughter of William and Margaret M. Atwell Critchlow.

She was a graduate of Harrisville High School and a 1921 alumna of Slippery Rock Normal School, now Slippery Rock University. During her teaching career, she taught at the Browntown and White Oak one-room schools and in Forestville and Harrisville.

Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Epworth League. She attended the United Methodist Church of St. Cloud. She also belonged to the Grove City Chapter 86 Order of the Eastern Star.

She was an avid quilter, played bridge and 500 and had enjoyed bowling.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ben (Joyce) Hoffman of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (Janice) Giesler of Stuart; a son, Dr. David W. Humphrey of Clarion; and a brother, Warren H. Critchlow of Harrisville. Eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.

Her husband, Arthur E. “Sy” Humphrey, whom she married Aug. 31, 1924, died Oct. 5, 1986. A daughter, a grandson, seven brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

HUMPHREY - Friends of Aletha C. Humphrey, who died Sunday, May 5, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at JAMISON FUNERAL HOME, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harrisville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willard Morse, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery , Harrisville.

Richard Lee Allison

Richard Lee Allison, 69, of New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township died at 11:20 a.m. Monday at United Community Hospital, Grove City, after a short illness.

Born Feb. 12, 1933, in Slippery Rock Township, he was the son of Floyd Dale and Clara Pizor Allison.

He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.

Mr. Allison was a truck driver and backhoe operator and did other heavy equipment work at Cooper Brother’s of Slippery Rock, retiring after more than 40 years.

He was an Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mae Ellen Grossman Allison, whom he married June 16, 1954; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Cinda) Taggart of Slippery Rock and Mrs. Carl (Brenda E.) Shilling of Grove City; a son, Rick L. Allison of Slippery Rock; and five grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Verna Allen and Doris Dull, and three brothers, Dale, Harry and Red Allison, all of Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

ALLISON - Friends of Richard Lee Allison, who died Monday, May 6, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. H. Rand Edwards, his church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery .

Bernice McConaghy

Bernice McConaghy, 69, of New Castle Road died Monday night at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1932, in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, she was the daughter of Alexander M. Spence and Mable Anna Stewart.

She was a member of the Christ Community United Methodist Church.

Ms. McConaghy had been a registered nurse at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning and at one time had worked in the meat department at the A&P in Tarentum.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Riddle of Crawfordsville, Ind.; and two brothers, George Hockenberry of Lower Burrell and Ronald Hockenberry of Natrona Heights.

McCONAGHY - Friends of Bernice McConaghy, who died Monday, April 6, 2002, will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 443 Main St., Prospect. Services will follow at noon Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Oden Warman, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Little Deer Creek Cemetery , Cheswick.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001.

Melvin K. Brechel

Melvin K. Brechel, 80, of Middlesex Township died Tuesday.

Born Feb. 27, 1922, in Shaler Township, he was the son of F. Otto and Leah Standing Brechel.

He had retired from Westinghouse as a welding engineer.

Mr. Brechel was a member of F&AM Lodge 45.

He was a World War II veteran.

His wife, Grace Montgomery Brechel, preceded him in death

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth L. Brechel of Rittman, Ohio, and Robert K. Brechel of Hampton Township; and three grandchildren.

BRECHEL - Friends of Melvin K. Brechel, who died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. David McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless.

John E. Neyman Sr.

John E. Neyman Sr., 66, of Butler died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 1, 1935, in Oakland Township, he was the son of Joseph and Mildred Vasbinder Neyman.

Mr. Neyman was a retired meat cutter and had worked for Friedman’s Supermarkets and the Butler Packing Co.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Mercer Road, Butler.

Mr. Neyman is survived by his wife, Josephine S. Shoemaker Neyman, whom he married Jan. 2, 1959; a son, the Rev. John E. Neyman Jr. of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Mabel) Pelliccioni of Butler and Mrs. Veryl (Hazel) Thompson of Chicora; a brother, William Neyman of Butler; and three grandchildren.

NEYMAN - Friends of John E. Neyman, who died Thursday, May 9, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with his son, the Rev. John E. Neyman Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the North Butler Cemetery .

Clayton D. Miller

Clayton D. Miller, 87, of Lake City in Erie County died Tuesday at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

Born in Saxonburg, March 30, 1915, he was the son of Winfield and Edna Sefton Miller.

He had been a self-employed carpenter and builder for years.

Mr. Miller served in the Army during World War II.

He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was an avid sports fan.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Anne Kiester Miller; four sons, Richard S. Miller of East Springfield, Erie County, Charles N. Miller of Girard, Erie County, Ralph W. Miller of Atlanta. Ga., and Thomas H. Miller of Lake City; two daughters, Eleanor M. Kennedy of Knoxville, Tenn., and Melinda M. Gresh of Fairview, Erie County; and a sister, Dorothy Schiller of Kansas City, Mo. He also is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A son, granddaughter, brother and sister preceded him in death.

MILLER - Friends of Clayton D. Miller, who died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at BURTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 E. Main St., Girard. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Girard Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Keith Gallagher officiating. Burial will be at Girard Cemetery .

Memorial donations may be made to the Gertrude A. Barber Center, 1126 Lake Street, Girard, PA 16417; or to Girard Presbyterian Church 260 E. Main St., Girard, PA 16417.
