Raymond E. Pfeifer

October 31, 1924 - August 27, 2007

Raymond E. Pfeifer, age 82 of South Trail, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, August 27, 2007 at 2:55 p.m. in the Butler V A Medical Center.

Born October 31, 1924 in Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Edward George Pfeifer and the late Hilda Watt Pfeifer.

Mr. Pfeifer was a Mill Wright for U.S. Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania until his retirement in June of 1984. He was a member of Nixon United Methodist Church. Mr. Pfeifer was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II. Mr. Pfeifer was a lifetime member of the American XPOW, Pittsburgh Chapter, the VFW, Post #249, Butler, the DAV, Butler Chapter and the National Chapter of the American Legion.

Mr. Pfeifer is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wilma Painter Pfeifer whom he marriage on August 11, 1945, by 2 sons and their wives, Raymond E. and Arlene Pfeifer, Jr. of Mars, Pennsylvania, Lance E. and Leslie Pfeifer of Butler, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Sandra Mickey and her husband James, Lisa J. Pfeifer, Lori J. Pfeifer; all of Butler, Pennsylvania, four granddaughters, Stacey and her husband David George of Butler, Pennsylvania, Shannon and her husband Greg Czzowitz of Fairfax, Virginia, Chelsea Pfeifer of Butler, Pennsylvania, Hannah Pfeifer of Butler, Pennsylvania; two great-grandsons, Dade Ryan George of Butler, Pennsylvania, James David George of Butler, Pennsylvania; and also by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pfeifer was preceded in death by one brother Donald Edward Pfeifer.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bruce K. Merritt of Nixon United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Contributions may be made to Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, Butler, Pennsylvania 16002.

Officers and members of the VFW, Chapter #249 and the American Legion, #778 will conduct graveside military services.

William Joseph Linthurst, Jr.

July 6, 1933 - August 22, 2007

William Joseph Linthurst, Jr., age 74, of Sunbury Fields Lane, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born July 6, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William J. Linthurst, Sr. and the late Edith Helen Mulloy.

Mr. Linthurst was a graduate of Villanova University Class of 1955. He was a sales representative for Merck Pharmaceutical Company and retired in 1994. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Fenelton.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a charter member of the Marine Corps League, serving in different capacities.

Mr. Linthurst was a member of the Bantam Marine Corps League Detachment #743 of Butler and the Military Order of Devil Dogs #213. He was involved with Toys for Tots.

Mr. Linthurst is survived by his wife, Vera Helena (Mathues) Linthurst of Butler, Pennsylvania; a son, William J. Linthurst III; two daughters, Pamela Ann Linthurst and Dolores Marie Linthurst, all of Butler, Pennsylvania.

There will be no public visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Fenelton on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Ken Kezmarsky officiating. He will be interred in the St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Caring Angels at the Butler Memorial Hospital, 911 East Brady Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

Albert Shedio

July 17, 1928 - August 22, 2007

Albert Shedio, age 79, of Villa Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, August 22, 2007 at his residence.

Born July 17, 1928 in Lyndora, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Singliar Shedio.

Mr. Shedio was an auditor for Friendship Federal and Landmark. He was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mr. Shedio is survived by four sisters, Susan Shedio, Irene Shedio and Zella Shedio all of Butler, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Helen Varhola of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Private Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 777 Penn Center Boulevard, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15235.

Carl H. Vinroe

January 29, 1925 - August 18, 2007

Carl H. Vinroe, Jr., age 82 of West North St., Butler, PA, died Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 7:30 A.M. at his home.

Born January 29, 1925 in Allegheny County he was the son of the late Carl H. Vinroe Sr. and the late Edna Vinroe.

Mr. Vinroe was member of the former St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was employed as a tank liner for Castle Rubber for forty plus years retiring in 1987. He was a life member of The Joseph T. Black Post #249 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Butler, Pennsylvania. Mr. Vinroe served in The United States Army During World War II and Korea.

Mr. Vinroe is survived by four sons, Brad Vinroe, Carl Vinroe, Richard Vinroe all of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Robert Vinroe of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and one niece.

Mr. Vinroe was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Margaret Heaton Vinroe on December 8, 1999, they were marriage on September 20, 1947. He was also preceded in death by twin infant brothers and one great grandson.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Ralph Link officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Members and officers of V.F.W. Post # 249 will perform Military Honors at the Interment at Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Paul L. Fencil

September 14, 1951 - August 17, 2007

Paul L. Fencil, age 55, of East Slippery Rock Road, Chicora, Pennsylvania, died Friday, August 17, 2007 at 3:29 p.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born September 14, 1951 in Butler, he was the son of Wayne R. and Norma Jean Love Fencil.

Mr. Fencil was the co-manager of Friedman's Supermarket in Chicora and had worked in the grocery business since he was 16.

He was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church.

He was an avid bowler in several leagues and he enjoyed his grandchildren.

Mr. Fencil is survived by his wife, Linda D. Welton Fencil, whom he marriage on April 18, 1979, two daughters, Mrs. Jeffery (Wendy) Sirich of Karns City, Pennsylvania, and Michelle Fencil and her companion, Bradley Craig of Chicora, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jake, Zachery and Meghan Sirich; two brothers, Bruce Fencil and his wife, Pauline, of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Scott Fencil and his wife, Karen, of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania; his grandmother, Lucille Love of Butler, Pennsylvania and by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Fencil was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Fencil, and his parents.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Funeral services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Glea Foster, pastor of Chicora United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Armstrong County.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Chicora United Methodist Church, 203 Central Avenue, Chicora, Pennsylvania 16025.

Emile H. Massart

March 8, 1916 - August 17, 2007

Emile H. Massart, age 91 of Tender Loving Care Plus Personal Care Home, formerly of Butler died Friday, August 17, 2007 at 12:10 P.M. in the Tender Loving Care Plus Personal Care Home, Summit Township, Pennsylvania.

Born March 8, 1916 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late J. Ferdinand Massart and the late Catherine Bopp Massart.

Mr. Massart was an assembler for Pullman Standard for thirty years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of The Joseph T. Black Post #249 Veterans of Foreign Wars Butler, Pennsylvania, The United Commercial Travelers, The French & Belgium Cub, and The M.O.R.A. Club. Mr. Massart also was an avid bingo player and enjoyed fishing and sports. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II during which he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Massart marriage Jane Parker Massart on September 4, 1942, she preceded him in death on August 6, 1999. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Emily Jane) Nulph of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Judith K. Geibel of Jefferson, Virginia; Ten Grandchildren, A Number of Great Grandchildren, A Number of Nieces and Nephews; Two sisters, Mrs. Wilbert (Anna) Baptiste of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Frederick (Lorraine) Minehart of North Butler, Pennsylvania; One brother, Leonard J. Massart of San Antonio, Texas

In addition to his wife, Mr. Massart was also preceded in death by one sister, two brothers, one-step daughter and one stepson.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, August 20, 2007 from 7 to 9 P.M.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Officers and members of V.F.W. Post # 249 will perform Military Honors at the Interment at Butler County Memorial Park.
