Evelyn Mondell, age 80 of South Petrie Road, Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 7:18 a.m. in the Sewickley Valley Hospital.

Born September 11, 1925 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Mike Frenchak and the late Anna Hill.

Mrs. Mondell was a homemaker. She was a member of Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Mondell is survived by her husband, Elmer C. Mondell, Sr. whom she marriage on February 17, 1946, celebrating there 60th wedding anniversary, four sons, Elmer (Butch) Mondell of Millsboro, Delaware, Reverend Richard (Rick) Mondell of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Robert (Bobby) Mondell of Millsboro, Delaware, Ronald (Ronnie) Mondell of Glenpoole, Oklahoma; one daughter, Maryann Mondell of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Frenchak of Butler, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mondell was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 20, 2006 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. with Mrs. Mondell's son Reverend Rick Mondell of New Life Baptist Church, Greensboro, North Carolina officiating. Interment will be in the North Side Cemetery.

Richard A. "Dick" Voelker

September 8, 1931 - May 16, 2006

Richard A. Voelker, age 74 of South Duffy Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 7:00 a.m. at his residence.

Born September 8, 1931 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Clarence A. Voelker and the late Catherine G. Peters.

Mr. Voelker formerly was co-owner of C.A. Voelker Paving that was sold in 1999 and is currently employed by Shockey Excavating. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Mr. Voelker was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association, Sheffield VFW, the NRA, and was a special deputy sheriff of Butler County. He also worked as a volunteer for the Pancake dinner sponsored by Lifesteps. Mr. Voelker enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, camping, outdoor work, woodworking and motorcycle riding.

Mr. Voelker is survived by his wife, Lois J. Plunkard Voelker whom he marriage on September 8, 1951, by two daughters, Catherine Wright and Mrs. Dave (Sandra) Meeder both of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sons and their wives, Rodger and Judy Voelker of Butler, Pennsylvania and Tim and Esther Jo Voelker of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren: Amanda and husband Luke Pollick, Ashlee Voelker, Scott and Tia Wright, Max and Maggie Voelker, Kody and Dillon Meeder, one brother, Robert and Germaine Voelker of Herman, Pennsylvania and also by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Voelker was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, May 18, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend William King of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

The family requests memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity in memory of Richard A. "Dick" Voelker.

James R. Hemphill

January 5, 1919 - May 14, 2006

James R. Hemphill, age 87 of Saxonburg Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at 1:15 a.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born January 5, 1919 in Chicora, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Ray Randall Hemphill and the late Wilheminia Ellenberger.

Mr. Hemphill was a retired foreman in electrical construction for AK Steel Corporation. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corp serving in World War II.

Mr. Hemphill is survived by his wife, Betty J. Parks Hemphill whom he marriage on November 11, 1945, by one daughter, Anita Hemphill of Butler, Pennsylvania; three sons, Eric Hemphill of Seattle, Washington, Rodney Hemphill of San Francisco, California, Ned Hemphill of Butler, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lois Cockroft of Butler, Pennsylvania and by seven nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.

James M. Worsley

August 26, 1923 - May 12, 2006

James M. Worsley, age 82 of Arlington Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at 12:25 P.M. in the Emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born August 26, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Albert Edward Worsley Sr. and the late Anna Hawthorne Worsley.

Mr. Worsley was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving during World War II in the Pacific theater. He received The SILVER STAR for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving with Battery H, Third Battalion, Tenth Marines Second Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Saipan, Marianas Islands, July 7, 1944. During a devastating enemy counterattack, Private First Class Worsley lay under an artillery piece and expertly used his carbine to cover the withdrawal of his section and continued the protecting fire until wounded were moved out. Upon leaving the position, he courageously rammed home a round in the howitzer and fired a piece single-handedly on advancing Japanese. His courageous action, unselfish regard for his own safety and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. This citation was presented and signed by then Secretary of The Navy John L. Sullivan. He also fought in the battle of Tarawa which was one of the costliest battles in regards to American causalities. He was also a member of The Michael Kosar Post #778 of The American Legion. He was a life member of The Joseph T. Black Post # 249 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Marine Corps League, Bantam Detachment #743.

Mr. Worsley is survived by his wife, Herta Winkelman Worsley whom he marriage on December 14, 1945, one son, Albert E. Worsley, III of Butler, Pennsylvania; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) Robb of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Robert (Sue) Uram, Roxanne Worsley, Mrs. Kevin (Jamie) Franchuck all of Butler, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert E. Worsley, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. William (Jean) Brackett both of Butler, Pennsylvania and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 14, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert W. Strobel of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

The family suggests contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 100 West Station Square Drive, The Landmarks Building, Suite 500 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219 or to Toys For Tots, Butler Chapter.

Gloria E. Nene

September 21, 1933 - May 10, 2006

Gloria E. Nene, age 72 of Villa Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 5:31 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born September 21, 1933 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Samuel Cunningham and the late Charlotte Dershimer.

Mrs. Nene was a dietician at the VA Medical Center. She was Lutheran by faith. Mrs. Nene was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War.

Mrs. Nene is survived by one son, James C. Clements of Summerfield, Florida; three brothers, Charles Cunningham of Sarver, Pennsylvania, Reed Cunningham of Evans City, Pennsylvania, Sam Cunningham of Chicora, Pennsylvania; one sister, Mrs. Michael (Dolores) Patterson of Reno, Nevada; and by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Nene who passed away on March 3, 1981 and also by one brother and two sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 12, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 12 noon with Pastor John Neyman officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

C. Louise "Tootie" Walchesky

December 13, 1921 - May 10, 2006

C. Louise "Tootie" Walchesky, age 84 of Saxony Health Center, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Blakely Road, Butler, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 4:20 p.m. in the Saxony Health Center.

Born December 13, 1921 in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Wilbert D. Bauman and the late Anna Fitzpatrick.

Mrs. Walchesky was a salesperson for Troutman's and J.C. Penney Co. She was a member of Thorncreek United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Walchesky is survived by one son, John E. Walchesky, Jr. of Butler, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Faye) Grossman of Butler, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Walchesky was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Walchesky who passed away on October 7, 1999 and also by three sisters and one brother.

Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, May 12, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Richard Feagin of Thorn Creek United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Saxonburg Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Southwest Regional Office, One Station Square, The Landmark Building, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219.
