Carrie J. Ditzler, 79, of South Main Street, Biglerville, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997 in her home.
Born June 8, 1918 in Fairfield, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Nellie M. Singley Baker and the widow of Bernard L. Ditzler, who died in 1958.
She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Green Acres Nursing Home, Gettysburg, for many years.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy L. Starry, New Oxford; a sister, Mary I. Baltzley, Aspers; two brothers, Donald R. Baker, Peoria, Ariz., and Roy K. Baker, Fairfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing or visitation. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Bendersville, is in charge of the arrangements.

Lawrence A. Ferree, 81, of 602 Woodland Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 at Carlisle Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1915 in Harrisburg to the late David and Clare Shambaugh Ferree, he was retired from the former Kimberly-Clark Corp., Mt. Holly Springs.
He was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II
He was a member of VFW 7343, American Legion 674, both of Mt. Holly Springs, Eagles 1299, White Circle Club, both of Carlisle, and the Mt. Holly Fish and Game Club.
He is survived by a his wife, Winifred Kutz Ferree; one brother, Robert P. Ferree of Carlisle; and one sister, Sara H. Grove of Carlisle.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wonda J. Ferree.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Avenue, Mount Holly Springs, with the Rev. Bradley Knepp officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to his church at 202 W. Butler, St., Mt. Holly Springs, 17065.

Russell D. Harris, 78, of 200 Green View Drive, Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997 at his home.
Born March 18, 1919 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Omar C. and Blanche Fettrow Harris.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served for 22 years, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He was a Methodist minister for 10 years in the Bay area of California. He also taught school at Dos Palos and Mojave, Calif.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a Past Worshipful Master of a lodge in California. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Mojave, the Lions Club of Mojave, and the Reserve Officers Association.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Maxine B. Starner Harris; his sister, Lorraine Phelps, Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers, David of Newville, James of New Cumberland, Clarence of Camp Hill, and Arthur of Palm Bay, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville, with the Rev. Douglas M. Eberly officiating. Interment will be in Bendersville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Idaville United Brethren in Christ Church, 3560 Carlisle Road, Gardners, for Ima R. Shaffer, 86.
She died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
Born July 23, 1911 in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Rosie E. Weaver Ream and the widow of James D. Schaffer, who died in 1982.
She was employed at Naval Inventory Control Point in Mechanicsburg until retiring in 1970. She was a member of Idaville United Brethren in Christ Church and the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Dirk A. Small will officiate at Wednesday's services. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Bendersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Joseph A. Krol, 37, of Bendersville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Bendersville.
He died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 at Gettysburg Hospital.
Born June 26, 1960 in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., he was the son of Alfred M. Krol of Springfield, Va., and the late Joyce M. McCann Krol.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his son, Ronald; two sisters, Joyce L. Owens of Littlestown, and Teresa J. Krol of McLean, Va.; two brothers, Alfred J. Krol and John K. Krol of Bear Mountain, Adams County; and a number of aunts and uncles in New Jersey and California.
The Rev. Joseph C. Hilbert will officiate at Wednesday's service. Burial will be in Bendersville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Faith Christian Center, Newport, for Maynard Eugene Bostwick, 61, of 7362 Spring Road, New Bloomfield.
He died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 at Holy Spirit Hospital, in Camp Hill.
Born in Steelton to the late John Earl Sr. and Vera E. Bretz Bostwick, he was a member of Faith Christian Center, Newport; The Sparrows Club, Houston, Texas; and the 700 Club.
He was a retired employee of Ralston Purina, Mechanicsburg and an employee of Robert Sprout of Halifax.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hostler Bostwick; four daughters, Donna Sprague of Enola, Vera Carpenter of Carlisle, Jeannette Groff of Shermans Dale and Michaella Bostwick of Harrisburg; a son, Mike Bostwick of Shermans Dale; two stepdaughters, Kay Longenecker of Mt. Joy and Cynthia Smith of Mechanicsburg; two stepsons, Steve Roush and Clair Roush III, both of Newport; a brother, John E. Bostwick Jr. of Lewistown; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Johnson.
The Rev. Frank Nemeth will officiate at Thursday's services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden in Lower Paxton Township.
Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Arrangements are being made by Ronald C. L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Perry County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 64, Newport 17074 or to Faith Christian Center, RD 2, Newport 17074.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kutz's Cemetery, Middlesex Township, for William Lee Carter Sr., 57, of Carlisle.
He died Saturday, Aug. 30, 1997 at his home.
Born on April 30, 1940 in Carlisle, he was the son of Eva Mae Keck Carter of Carlisle and the late William Benjamin Carter.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Sharon Orendorf Carter; a daughter, Sherry Lee Carter of Shermans Dale; a son, William Lee Carter Jr. of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Larry E. Carter of Florida; a sister, Karen J. Veinote of Maine; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ray Carter.
The Rev. Donald E. Weidman will officiate at the graveside service. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Cumberland County Unit, 117 N. Hanover St., Carlisle 17013 or the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Suite 200, Wormleysburg 17043.

Kathryn A. Weaver, 86, of 145 Parker St. Carlisle, died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997 in Carlisle.
Born July 11, 1911 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Minnie Ashenfelter Krall and the widow of Ray B. Weaver, who died in 1991.
She was a graduate of Dillsburg High School.
Surviving are her son, Richard I. Weaver; Shippensburg; a sister, Madelyn Krall, Tulsa, Okla.; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, with the Rev. James J. Ferguson officiating.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends in the rotunda of the church following the service. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery.
Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mumma Road, Suite 200, Pennsboro Center, Wormleysburg 17043.
