Funeral services for Janet M. Sowers, 74, formerly of Mt. Holly Springs, were held today at 11 a.m. in Gibson-Hollinger Funeral Home, 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs.
She died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997 in Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
She was born March 12, 1923 in Mt. Holly Springs, a daughter of the late Gordon and Elva Marie Warner Rupp and the widow of Harry Sherman and William Wesley Sowers.
Mrs. Sowers was retired from the former Sylvania Shoe Co. She was a member of Mt. Holly Springs Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Dolphin Ministry at the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, and a life member of the VFW Post 7343 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survived by three sons, William D. Sowers of St. Thomas, Pa., John E. Sowers of Harrisburg and Harry G. Armolt of Mt. Holly Springs; two daughters, Naomi Bodkins of New Hampshire and Karen Sowers of Pratt, Vt.; a sister, Gertrude R. McKillip of Mechanicsburg; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
The Rev. Bradley Knepp and the Rev. J. Kenneth Barner officiated at Thursday's services. Interment was in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Dolphin Ministry, 202 W. Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs 17065.

Memorial services for Robert A. Manning, 47, of 105 Greason Road, Plainfield, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997 at home.
Born July 17, 1950 in Plainfield, the son of Martha "Evelyn" Brehm Manning, with whom he lived, and the late John H. Manning Jr., he graduated in 1969 from Big Spring High School and was a self-employed painter. He was of Protestant faith.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two sons, Michael A. and Matthew S., both of Newburg; a sister, Nancy C. Brewer of Troy; two grandchildren; and two nieces.
The Rev. Richard L. Hadfield will officiate at Monday's services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Services for Harvey S. Peters Sr., 86, of 111 Ann St., Duncannon, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Roseglen Brethren in Christ Church, New Bloomfield Road, Duncannon.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997 at home.
Born April 7, 1911 in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County, he was the son of the late William F. and Mary Parson Peters and the widower of Blanche Wilt Peters.
A retired employee of PP&L, he attended Roseglen Brethren in Christ Church.
He is survived by four sons, William S. of Liverpool, Harvey S. Jr. of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Paul E. of Newport and Andrew L. Peters of RD 4, Duncannon; three daughters, H. Sue Mullen and Joyce E. Schaar of Duncannon and Donna R. Deatrick of RD 1, New Bloomfield; two brothers, Albert Sr. of York Haven and John of Duncannon; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. William Baublitz will officiate at Saturday's services. Burial will be in Hill Cemetery, RD 4, Duncannon. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ronald C. L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon, and Saturday 10 to 11 a.m. in his church.

Funeral services for retired Maj. Kenneth Earl Reaka of Reservoir Road, Upper Allen Township, will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg.
He died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 in Randallstown, Md.
Born March 26, 1920 in Bushong, Kan., he was the son of the late Earl and Della Firch Reaka and the widower of Julia Reaka. Retired from TRW, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marines.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth M. of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; three daughters, Sandra M. Reaka of Lewisberry, Linda D. Antoon of Enon, Ohio and Darlene L. Israel of Reisterstown, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Burial with full military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friends may call from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

Doyle Sherman "Jack" Poorman, 90, of Newville, formerly of Silver Spring Township, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 in Swaim Health Center, Newville.
Born April 19, 1907 in Jacksonville, Centre County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Anna Poorman. He was the widower of Helen E. Seitz Poorman, who died May 7, 1997.
A 1926 graduate of Howard High School and a 1928 graduate of Beckly College in Harrisburg, Mr. Poorman was a Navy veteran of World War II.
From 1928 to 1941, he was the assistant to the comptroller of Hershey Creamery Co., Harrisburg. From 1939 to 1970, he organized and operated Wellbilt Homes Inc., Wellbilt Associates, Wellbilt Construction Co. Inc. College Park Corp. and Maplewood Corp.
Mr. Poorman served on Silver Spring Township planning commission and zoning hearing board, Cumberland Valley School District board of directors, Messiah College board of associates and Grantham Woods board of directors.
He was a member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, where he was a trustee and choir member; National Association of Home Builders; Harrisburg Builders Exchange; American Building Contractors; and Mechanicsburg Lions Club.
He also was a volunteer at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Silver Spring Presbyterian Church, 444 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Jay F. Walters officiating.
Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Silver Spring Presbyterian Cemetery prior to services. Egger Funeral Home, Newville, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Homes Inc., 1217 Slate Hill Road, Camp Hill, Pa. 17011.

Services for Howard W. Koser, 73, of Shippensburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge St., New Cumberland.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997 at Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris, France.
Born July 21, 1924 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Rudolph R. and Marcella Morris Koser Sr.
A World War II and Korean War Army veteran, he was a life member of Eleventh Airborne Division.
Mr. Koser was a retired French and English teacher from Shippensburg Area High School. He previously taught in Lancaster County and Boiling Springs school districts.
A past president of Shippensburg Area Education Association, he was a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association and its Professional Rights and Responsibilities Commission; National Education Association; Pennsylvania National Guard; and Shippensburg Historical Society.
A part-time guide at Gettysburg National Battlefield, he was a member of Harrisburg Civil War Round Table and the Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides Inc. and served as editor of its monthly newsletter, "The Battlefield Express."
Surviving are one brother, Rudolph R. Jr. of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Marcella M. of New Oxford; and one nephew.
The Rev. Roy E. Frampton will officiate at Tuesday's service. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Services for Frank F. Pavlovic, 68, of Duncannon, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon.
He died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 at home.
Born Jan. 9, 1929 in Steelton, he was a son of the late Anton and Theresa Tomac Pavlovic.
Mr. Pavlovic was a retired employee of United Food & Commercial Workers Union and AMP Inc. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Duncannon.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Page Pavlovic; two sons, Thomas of Lancaster and Francis of Harrisburg; one stepson, Kevin M. Smith of New Jersey; and one brother, Edward of Harrisburg.
The Rev. John Greaney will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Services for Ruth S. Brown, 91, formerly of Washington Street, Mechanicsburg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 325 Old Stonehouse Road, Boiling Springs.
She died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997 in Messiah Village, Upper Allen Township.
Born May 26, 1906 in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Blain and Gertrude Yarlett Shughart. She was the widow of Harry A. Brown.
A former volunteer for the American Red Cross, Mrs. Brown was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 544, Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen B. Eisenhauer of Mechanicsburg, Isabelle B. Deardorff of York and Edwinnia R. Fisher of Camp Hill; one brother, Leroy Shughart of Dillsburg; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert R. Yankovitz will officiate at Monday's service. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Township.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, 37 E. Main St., Mechanicsburg, with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 8 p.m., and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Endowment Fund of Messiah Village, 100 Mt. Allen Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pa. 17055.
