Private memorial services for Ralph C. "Rick" May, 80, of 142 N. Stratton St., Gettysburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main St., Bendersville.
He died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997 at Green Acres Nursing Home, 595 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg.
Mr. May was born May 25, 1917 in Menallen Township, Adams County, and was a son of the late Hobart and Pearl Dunlap May.
Engaged in fruit farming most of his life, he was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Aspers, and the Pennsylvania Farmers Association.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen V. Fetters; a son, Donald L. May of Biglerville; a brother, George May of Gardners; a half-brother, James May of Gettysburg; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Martin J. Carlson will officiate at Friday's services. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.
There will be no viewing.

A memorial service for Barbara B. Schumacher Winslow, 49, of Carlisle and formerly of Perryopolis, will be held Sunday at the Church of God, 458 N. College St., Carlisle at 2:30 p.m.
She died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Mrs. Winslow was born Jan. 1, 1948 in Perryopolis, daughter of Annabelle Flanigan Schumacher of Perryopolis and the late Earl Schumacher.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Michael Winslow; two sisters, Madonna Rathway and Peggy Sizemore, both of Perryopolis; and two brothers, Thomas Schumacher of Whitehall and John Schumacher of Perryopolis.
Besides her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Schumacher, and an uncle, Jack Flanigan.

Willard Loy Smiley, 89, of 812 Hummel Ave., Lemoyne, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.
Born Sept. 15, 1908 in Lemoyne, he was the son of the late Rev. Leo C. and Ida S. Loy Smiley and the widow of Mary Agnes Walsh Smiley. He was a 1972 graduate of the former Lemoyne High School.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a retired cabinet maker for the former Fawber Furniture, Lemoyne. He was also a former superintendent of Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.
Mr. Smiley was a member of Cumberland and Perry counties' historical societies, Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association and American Legion Post 0419, Lemoyne.
He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth S. Gallaher of Friendsville, Md; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Capital Region Unit, 1500 N. 2nd St., Harrisburg 17102-2527.

Memorial services for John Eli Bender, 18, of 200 Bell Ave., Mt. Gretna, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Gretna Heights Community Building, Kaufman Street and Pine Avenue, Mt. Gretna.
He died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997 at home.
He attended Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon. He was in his senior year.
He is survived by his parents, Eva and John, and his sister, Emily all of Mt. Gretna; two grandmothers; and relatives both here and in Sweden.
Burial will be in Imea, Sweden. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.

Funeral services for Harry M. Witter, 83, of 1261 S. Main St., Chambersburg, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
He died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 26, 1913 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Fred A. and Ida Picking Witter and the widower of Ellen Rosalie Rotz Witter, who died July 29, 1992.
A grocer most of his life, he was the owner and operator of Witter's Market in Chambersburg. After retirement, he worked part-time at the Butcher Shoppe, Chambersburg.
A member and lifetime deacon of the Church of the Brethren, 260 S. 4th St., Chambersburg, he enjoyed vegetable gardening and wood working.
He is survived by a sister, Helen M. Witter of Chambersburg; a brother, Merle E. Witter of Chambersburg; four nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
The Rev. Kenneth L. Gibble and the Rev. Donald L. Baker will officiate at Wednesday's services. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg 17201.

The Rev. Cletus S. Myers, 86, of 5708 Canaan Center Road, Wooster, Ohio, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997 at Wooster Community Hospital.
Born March 1, 1911 in Centerville to Daniel K. and Rosie Shenk Myers, he was the widower of Mabel V. "Susie" Clopper, who died October 29, 1996 after 62 years of marriage.
The Rev. Myers attended Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown and graduated from Bethany Biblical Seminary in Chicago, Ill. He was a minister with the Church of the Brethren, retiring in 1986 with 60 years of service.
He was the pastor of churches in Newville, Farmers Grove, Blain, Three Springs and New Enterprise in Pennsylvania, and Defiance, Cleveland Heights, Dayton, and Wooster in Ohio. He was chaplain for 10 years at West View Manor, Wooster.
He was a member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by two sons, Philip N. of Toledo, Ohio and Darrell W. of Wooster; three daughters, Barbara "Bickey" M. Garber of North Manchester, Ind., Carol V. Herbert and Karen S. Sterne, both of Wooster; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer, Clair, Dick and Earl Myers.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in East Chippewa Church of the Brethren with Pastor Keith Funk officiating. Burial will be at East Chippewa Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Chaplaincy Fund of West View Manor, 1715 Mechanicsburg Road, Wooster, Ohio 44667 or East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7487 Chippewa Road, Orrville, Ohio 44667.

Services and burial for Justin Charles Gish, infant son of Galen B. and Amy E. Gibb Gish, 46 Brian Drive, Carlisle, will be held at the convenience of the family.
He died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997 in Carlisle Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his maternal grandparents, Charles and Isabelle Gibb of Boiling Springs; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Roberts of Camp Hill; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Doris Ann Gish of Tipton, Ind.; two aunts, Diane M. Gibb of McLean, Va. and Debbie McKinney of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and an uncle, Kurt Gish of Indianapolis, Ind.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

A Mass of Christian burial for John B. Halbleib, 62, of Mechanicsburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 225 Salt Road, Enola.
He died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997 in Holy Spirit Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1934 in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Charles and Florence Cooper.
Mr. Halbleib was self-employed as a licensed real estate agent.
He was a member of Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; Eureka Lodge 302 F&AM; St. John's Commandery No. 8 Knights Templar; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Samuel C. Perkins R.A. Chapter 209, Mechanicsburg; and Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 215.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline F. Hoener; one brother, Joseph of Yardley; and three sisters, Pauline Baten of Enola, Grace Cook of Etters and Meta Hower of Westerville, Ohio.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday in his church.
Myers Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Spring Ambulance Association, Eleoner Drive, New Kingstown, Pa.
